That’s putting it mildly.

If this report from Fox News national security correspondent Jennifer Griffin is true, the Bergdahl affair just got a whole lot stickier:

Clearly more information is needed, but the way things have been shaping up so far regarding Bergdahl and the prisoner exchange, tweeters aren’t terribly optimistic:

Twitchy coverage of Bowe Bergdahl

  • YooperNC

So, let me see if I have this right… We released 5 of the worst terrorists we had at Gitmo, and we brought home a domestic terrorist… Does that about sum it up? (*smh*)

    • Lord Foggybottom

Not a domestic terrorist, a member of the Taliban. Instead of blowing himself up for Allah, he gave himself up so those five could be released.

      • YooperNC

Agreed. But the reason I used that term is because he is now within our borders. That makes him “domestic”, and obviously a “terrorist”. He should be watched closely… very closely.

        • TarasBulbous

Don’t be daft, only white tea-party types can be domestic terrorists. /sarc

          • kssturgis62

Yes don’t forget they are not only White but Christians.

His dad and his mohammad beard did not give it away.

          • Keren Burdt

and . . . there are (shhhhh not too loud now) some of us conservative Orthodox Jewish Americans too! Not to be confused with being a “Conservative Jew”, which is a different thing altogether. LOL! Although a Conservative Jew could also be a conservative American Jew . . . does that make sense? Anyhow you get my point.

        • Elizabeth Fisher

I’m sure Obammy will have the NSA monitor him… right after he attends an awards ceremony and dinner at the WH where Obammy will praise him for his service to this country.

          • globalcrap

Also thanking this Jihad deserter ,for letting ‘5 “top JIDAH terrorist set freed, with American Blood on their hands.

          • AmericanMom

This regime keeps repeating they are after “domestic terrorists” and Janet Napolitano listed us as such. Nothing has changed since her tenure.

          • squeeze127

Wait for it, the CMH (Congressional Medal of Honor). He hands those out like he got that No Bell Piece prize, in a crackerjack box!

          • Taskforcez

Please compare the number of medal of honor recipients from Iraq and Afghanistan to the number of recipients from past conflicts. I’m not putting you down, I just don’t like people being misinformed.

          • mike_in_kosovo

He hands those out like he got that No Bell Piece prize, in a crackerjack box!

I’m pretty sure these gentlemen (or their families) would disagree with your assessment:

          • squeeze127

I have nothing against their feats that are deserving. There is a difference between the CMH and a silver star. The former is for actions way above the call of duty. They are supposed to be rare, not common. Silver stars are for most of the valor above the call of duty, Bronze is for slightly below that. Obama got the Nobel Peace prize for what? Al Gore got the same prize for what? Jimmy Carter got the same prize for what? See a trend here? How about all those Freedom medals he hands out? Hillary got one, just what did she do to deserve that one? Stay married to Bill?

          • Bubbles

I agree with you except on Jimmy Carter. Read your history. Egypt/Israel peace agreement was a HUGE accomplishment on many levels and a huge challenge that almost fell through. Anwar Sadat was assassinated because the deal was so angering to many muslims.

          • squeeze127

Triple BINGO!!!! Sadat deserved the prize. Carter was just a bystander! Letting the Shah of Iran get deposed. That disaster in the desert, was that worthy of it? The day Reagan took office, the hostages were released. Carter is one of our worst POTUS especially in foreign policy. Nixon as much as I don’t like him and he’s despised, was a real gem at that. Obama has now overtaken both of them.

          • Bubbles

Nixon cared deeply about foreign policy and he really was brilliant. Obama is a coward and incompetent and only cares about his rep with the left wingers.

          • squeeze127

Correct, Vietnam decisions were good except on the policy to end it. Nixon was similar to Obama in some respects. Shifty being one of them as well as telling falsehoods.

          • DeathFromTheShadows

better study up on the war powers act and Nixon as well as congress under him. had Congress not amended WPA he would have ended the war in short order. It was Congress that did NOT allow us to win.

          • David Tierney

Not this country. For his service to the Taliban. Stone them all to death.

        • Marcy Cook

He should be watched closely until the firing squad shows up and finishes him off.

there are two sides in this war to preserve civilization, he and his looney toons dad picked the caveman side.. the 7th century luddites, can’t make an AK-47, but sure can buy one.. can’t build a wide body passenger jet, but sure can steal one… can’t open re-enforced cockpit doors, but can slit the throats of stewardesses to get in…

these two picked the side which blinds little girls with acid, for the crime of learning to read..

            They can rot in Hell.

          • silverburstgorilla

I wouldn’t waste 3 hollow points on that treasonous snake Bergdahl. 1 to the head is all it would take. I would GLADLY pull the trigger with NO remorse.

His pappy needs 1 too. That sorry POS.

Take a look at this page:

For those who don’t wanna click, here’s the meat and potatoes of it:

“Clare Lopez is a former CIA operations officer, a strategic policy and intelligence expert with a focus on Middle East, national defense, WMD, and counterterrorism issues, and a friend of mine.

She emailed me this morning a very poignant analysis that only someone knowing language and Islam could ascertain. She wrote:

‘What none of these media is reporting is that the father’s (SGT Bowe Bergdahl’s father Bob) first words at the WH were in Arabic – those words were “bism allah alrahman alraheem” – which means “in the name of Allah the most gracious and most merciful” – these are the opening words of every chapter of the Qur’an except one (the chapter of the sword – the 9th) – by uttering these words on the grounds of the WH, Bergdahl (the father) sanctified the WH and claimed it for Islam. There is no question but POTUS knows this.’

Folks, there is a lot to this whole episode — like Benghazi — that we may never know. And this is not conspiracy theory, it is truth based upon Arabic and Islamic dogma and tradition.”

          • Splashes

Oh you mean “the soldier”? I thought you were referring to Obama.

          • Michael Anderson (WB)

Well, you’re mostly correct, but as to making AK-47’s:

          • Jay Stevens

Mark, the U. S. military does not use hollow point ammo. It is against the Geneva Convention.

But I agree with the sentiment.

          • Kevin

Hague Convention of 1899 not Geneva

          • Tami Walters

That’s right…they are saving those bad boys for us.

          • Mark

Correction: The US Military DOES in fact use hollow point ammo. Stateside base security uses them as well as Special Forces.

          • DeathFromTheShadows

No Mark the MILITARY does not, Civilian Security service does. And Spec Forces does not.

          • Jaeger Naught

He’s not the only one that should be facing the firing squad. There are plenty of traitors in another big house.

      • Richbert88

He hasn’t blown himself up……yet! At this point, I wouldn’t trust this guy being loose in society with my family, regardless of how many times the President calls him a hero. BO calling him a hero is also worrisome because BO lies about everything.

The second those 5 show up in Afg or Pak they need to be droned. And if the military didn’t plan for that contingency and aren’t tracking them somehow, that is a complete fail on their part.

      • SideTraKd

Even if none of this is true, it wouldn’t change the fact that what Obama did endangers American troops and citizens all over the world, and was illegal on top of it.

Bergdahl might be a deserter, the best soldier in history, or something in between. No matter what Bergdahl is, or who he is, Obama has clearly committed an act of treason.

        • Shannon Myles Talley

Unless there is a bigger picture here of course. For example by dropping these turds off at Qatar and then being able to see who picks them up and be able to track where they go. All at the same time with them knowing the sh*t bag traitor is bad and and they can follow him as he tries to build an organization in american. I know its a long shot but its the only explanation i can think of. Other then that i would love to add him to my list of terrorist i have ridden this world of. 10 year active infantry soldier here.

          • SideTraKd

Wow, that’s a stretch, for sure.

I’d be proud to see Obama pull something like that off, but I highly doubt that something even remotely close to it ever crossed his mind.

          • Moogiechan

Hopefully someone actually delivering them to Qatar did think of it, and decided it was better to ask forgiveness than permission.

          • SideTraKd

Just for your own sense of awareness, please reread BlahBlah’s comment, which I was replying to, and then read mine which followed up on that. It’s called sarcasm, I use it a lot. If you’d checked, you’d have noticed that I gave her comment an up vote.

I’d continue, but the admins here just keep deleting anything that suggests the 911 commission report is not factual – doesnt seem like twitchy cares it isnt factual. does that mean you believe the report, twitchy?

During WW2 they faced a firing squad

      • Matthew Koch

That’s what I thought. I know it’s unlikely, but I’d love to see it happen in this case.

I know that George Washington had some deserters executed by firing squad during the Revolutionary War. Wasn’t sure if it had changed since then.

        • snakebit

They just released 5 terrorists in exchange for this POS. No way in hell they’d ever prosecute him for desertion, no matter what the facts are.

      • Mark81150 Never/Trump/Hillary

Unless they changed the UCMJ since, they still do..

the one guy they shot in WW II, was just a coward under fire, not a traitor to Nazi Germany.. in the training I got in 1980, merely abandoning your post under fire,… running in panic…

your officer, or sgt. Could shoot you on the spot…

Clearly, unlikely, but it was completely legal.. can’t name any case I ever heard of, officially of that happening. But it is the rule…u

      • Don Meaker

Eddie Slovik was the only deserter executed since the Civil War for desertion.

I came to Albuff as a replacement. They were shelling the town and we were told to dig in for the night. The following morning they were shelling us again. I was so scared, nerves and trembling, that at the time the other replacements moved out, I couldn’t move. I stayed there in my fox hole till it was quiet and I was able to move. I then walked into town. Not seeing any of our troops, so I stayed over night at a French hospital. The next morning I turned myself over to the Canadian Provost Corp. After being with them six weeks I was turned over to American M.R. They turned me loose. I told my commanding officer my story. I said that if I had to go out there again I’d run away. He said there was nothing he could do for me so I ran away again AND I’LL RUN AWAY AGAIN IF I HAVE TO GO OUT THERE.

        —Signed Pvt. Eddie D. Slovik A.S.N. 36896415[4]

The cook summoned his company commander and an MP,
who read the note and urged Slovik to destroy it before he was taken into custody, which Slovik refused. He was brought before Lieutenant Colonel Ross Henbest, who again offered him the opportunity to tear up the note, return to his unit, and face no further charges. After Slovik again refused, Henbest ordered Slovik to write another note on the back of the first one stating that he fully understood the legal consequences of deliberately incriminating himself with the note and that it would be used as evidence against him in a court martial..,

    • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

That’s what Syria was all about last year. The only reason Obama wanted to go to war with Syria was to help the Al-Qaeda linked Syrian rebels get control. He’s given money and weapons to those terrorists, not to mention his support of the Muslim Brotherhood.

Generally speaking, it’s very tough to renounce your citizenship. Courts have ruled that it’s invalid unless you do it in a consulate with an official witness.

He could easily argue stress or duress. What effect this does have, though, is that it makes his defense at the court martial almost impossible. It makes the case that he did desert with malice of forethought.

If the Obama administration permits a court martial, Bergdahl is toast.

    • mdtljt

The key phrase is IF the Obama administration PERMITS a court martial (emphasis added). They’llprobably DEMAND a ticker tape parade…

    • Morduin00

Excellent point. Leaving a note is not normally sufficient to renounce your citizenship. Though, if he happen to say something similar to any military member, that may qualify as a consular officer.

  • Andy Rigo ✓ᵗᵉʳʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Only two ways to explain this mess as far as I can tell:

    1. Obama was so eager to curry the favor of the military and veterans due to the VA scandal and West Point speech flop that he hastily made a the terrible decision to force this exchange.

    2. Obama knowingly exchanged 5 high profile terrorists for one known traitor in order to further weaken our foreign policy and military standing in the world.

Whichever one it is, this man is clearly not fit to hold the office of President of the United States.

    • Acethepug

Both, in my honest opinion, although I think it was more to take the VA scandal out of the headlines than to curry favor with the military.

      • Wanderer

I agree, but the Media and the Left would turn it into a claim of racism against the Right. He ABSOLUTELY should be impeached, and after this latest action, tried for treason.

But he won’t. I wish he would, too, and I agree. History will NOT be kind to President Affirmative Action.

          • BlahBlah

No they shouldn’t do it because the media demonization will not stop at anything. You can’t successfully impeach or even try when the whole press is running interference. It’s a waste of time and credibility.

          • CO2 Producer

I could not agree with you more. A formal case needs to be built with full examination and presentation of our laws, offered up for public scrutiny, and pursued by our legislators before entertaining any talk of impeachment. Otherwise, the right sounds like an angry, uneducated mob whom the leftist media will exploit again and again, further discrediting the entire right-of-center. Many people talking about impeachment are just repeating the refrain they’ve heard from others. They need to calm down and use their brains a bit more.

I know this will be an unpopular opinion, but it needs to be said.

    • Acethepug

Of COURSE they did, but it was a flailing attempt to take the VA Scandal off the table — the fact that they in essence stirred up a beehive doing it seems to have eluded them.

Then again, can you blame President Boyfriend? The Press has done nothing but lie for, shill for, and otherwise protect him all this time. Why would he think the truth would be an issue this time when it never was before?

      • mrspinky85

This is a bad attempt to deflect because this is worse. I am not trivializing what happened at the VA in no way or the veteran deaths but this is way way worse. We didn’t get anything out this supposed deal. And the more we learn the worse it gets. And the information realized that Congress was notified about the “possibility” in 2012 but Obama didn’t go get him then (election year) doesn’t help either. America has no foreign policy and the scraps they tried to piece together on Sunday was just ruined today.

        • Acethepug

Oh, I absolutely agree it is worse. But how do children learn? they touch the hot stove or pull the tv down on their head and get hurt.

Obama has never had to learn because he was the specialist snowflake ever. He’s never had to deal with consequences for his actions due to his politics and especially his skin color.

He’s flouted laws, performed multiple illegal and impeachable offenses, and had nothing happen.

Barack Obama cares nothing for this country except to lay it low, and sponge off it (and enrich the coffers of his allies).

          • mrspinky85

This situation just makes me so angry. He spit on all the dead that these Taliban killed, the lives of those who searched for this deserter and those who died to put these 5 men away.

I cannot to save my life see what Obama and his ilk plan to gain from this at all. It doesn’t help his image, doesn’t make us forget about the VA scandal and doesn’t keep American safe. Hell, this doesn’t even make the liberals look good who blame republicans because some military members are leftist even though they forgot.

I cannot for the life of me understand what the h is going on anymore!

    • tops116 ✓Quipper

I’m inclined to believe the administration didn’t know about this, but only because they’ve spent the last five years repeatedly demonstrating how damn stupid they are.

      • Matthew Koch

Even they can’t be this dumb. But then again, these are leftists.

      • lisalake

They AND the military know EVERYTHING about this guy… they have a classified file on him! Not to mention DaddyBergdalh’s YouTube channel!

    • stargater1

Probably not, remember, they learn about things on TV all the time.

  • Conspiracy Quean

It is looking more and more likely that Berdahl left base that night with the intent of offering himself to the Taliban as a human bargaining chip. His father’s Twitter feed clearly shows the family has Islamist sympathies and has been vocal on the issue of freeing Guantanamo detainees. Looks like everything so far is going according to plan!

  • mrspinky85

    • LinTaylor ✓vitrified

That just about sums it up right there.

  • adnnews1

oh, wow. if true, then that means obama rescued someone that didn’t want saving

    • tmodem

No, actually Obama rescued those 5 poor, old, jihadists from that terrible place known as Gitmo! That was the real rescue. What a loser.

  • CO2 Producer

The NY Times article about the note doesn’t mention anything about Bowe renouncing his citizenship. Funny, that.

    • QueenB

Are we talking about the VA today?

  • helpmegetback

Is this Berghdal traitor back in the US? There are still five American civilians held by the Taliban. How many more terrorists from Gitmo are going to be realeased (25)? Or do they not matter because they are civilians?

No. He is on an American base in Germany.

Of course Obummer knew about this and knew it would come out, but still did what he did. What is he trying to draw attention from?

  • kblue905

Watch Bergdahl’s POW videos and then watch the video of Rear Admiral Jeremiah Denton. That’s all anyone needs to see to realize the truth, and what kind of “soldier” Bergdahl was.

  • LinTaylor ✓vitrified

So I haven’t heard a whole lot from our resident Obama apologist trolls…are they still waiting on the email from the White House with their talking points, or have even they realized how indefensible this is?

There’s a very specific term for this kind of situation. It starts with “cluster” and ends with a word that I only say in the presence of good friends.

  • Penelope210

Also reported on air that Berdahyl also said in note, he was joining the TALIBAN. If true..this is worse than the citizenship stuff. He is not just a deserter…but traitor. Obama traded 6 Taliban prisoners to bring another Taliban terrorist home. Geeesh…..

    • QueenB

5 Taliban prisoners. It was 6 heroes that have died trying to find the traitor.

      • Perry

Tried hard to find him before he gave secrets to the Taliban, it seems now. No wonder his fellow soldiers hated him.

        • Penelope210

Now the WH outing of the CIA station chief a few days prior is making sense. The effort to stifle dissent from intel community began before the release,

      • Penelope210

Thank you for that important correction!

      • rlb1961

Actually, I think it was 14 who died trying to find and recover Bergdahl… It was 6 just from his own unit, the remaining were from other units.

        • QueenB

smh – So the death toll from trying to find this guy just grows…..and nobody who supports Obama in the slightest even cares. Lovely.

  • Conspiracy Quean

And I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if Obama commissioned Bergdahl personally with the aim of getting the Taliban leaders released.

So, let me see if I have this right… He abandons his post five years ago leaving behind a note renouncing his citizenship, but we search for him as if he had been captured (losing a number of soldiers in the process), and in the ensuing years he is promoted to sergeant (and is still on the list for a further promotion), while he now returns to a hero’s welcome in exchange for the release of five terrorists from Gitmo, all negotiated by the current administration. Boy, is this a great country, or what?

  • spunknik

He renounced his US citizenship? Who can blame him. I bet he’s applying for citizenship to Mexico so that he can still live in the US and be treated better than US citizens.

I also think Turley and Toobin should get ready for their IRS audits.

  • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

Obama knowingly and willingly adided terrorism by doing this, it’s time his ass is sent packing. Actually, it’s way past time.

  • JOgershok

PFC Matthew Michael Martinek, Staff Sgt. Kurt Robert Curtiss, SSG Clayton Bowen, PFC Morris Walker, SSG Michael Murphrey, 2LT Darryn Andrews, were all KIA from looking for Bergdahl. Many others from various units were wounded or killed while actively looking for Bergdahl.

  • AnneG

Just FYI, folks, there are rules for renouncing your citizenship and those do not include a note you left. It has to be made, including a sworn statement to specific government officials, including consular officers, cannot be done under duress. Probably would be valid if done to a JAG officer, but, I bet a soldier on deployment would definitely qualify for duress.

    • Billboy89

Duress? Really? He left a note before he deserted. It’s not like he had already been captured and renounced citizenship. Whether it’s legal or not isn’t really the point though, is it? It shows that he deserted on purpose and wanted nothing more to do with being a US citizen, let alone a soldier. We should NEVER have given up known terrorist leaders for this guy….he was not left behind, he left the US behind. The people that were left behind were the soldiers who were killed trying to find him after he deserted and those who were killed capturing the 5 terrorist leaders our dear president sent back to their terrorist enclaves….Obama should be ashamed for what he did, and if congress had any balls they would impeach him for violating the law in bringing this sack of sh!t back to the US, endangering more Americans and providing comfort to the enemy (not to mention [email protected] on the memory of the fallen soldiers unlucky enough to serve with the guy).

      • AnneG

I agree entirely, Bill. I said that because it is claimed he renounced his citizenship and in a couple days everybody will be saying that. He should spend the rest of his life in Ft Leavenworth if found guilty at court martial. Of course, Obama would probably commute his sentence.

        • Billboy89

Didn’t mean to jump on you Anne, this whole deal just got me riled up….I think it will be really interesting (not in a good way) to see what Obama does in the final weeks of his presidency. Given what he is doing now, I can only imagine the kind of illegal/unscrupulous moves he will make on the way out (pardons, presidential decrees, etc.). The guy doesn’t care what anyone thinks now, just wait…

    • rulierose

doesn’t matter. as they say, goes to motive.

      • AnneG

Yeah, but you know lawyers. Looks like he is probably a deserter. Let the Army prosecute.

    • Shubi

Just FYI, AnneG, nobody gives a damn. Is anyone claiming that Bergdahl legally renounced his citizenship? No. This story isn’t about the legal technicalities of renouncing one’s citizenship. The value of Bergdahl’s note is in helping to determine whether or not he may have been of a mind to desert his post, as many have asserted.

      • AnneG

Shubi, you don’t need to be rude. I made that point because in 2days or less there will be people screaming about renouncing citizenship. The guy sounds like a problem in a problem platoon. Too smart for his own good, unrealistic and unreliable. To have walked away and deserted his post is bad. To have good men die for him, then get 5 really bad guys free to get him back is worse. I also read the Rolling Stone article and it makes a worse picture. This guy is our problem to deal with and I hope the military is allowed to deal with him.

        • Shubi

Sorry about that, Anne. Apparently I misinterpreted your original comment as a smart-Alec jab at those bothered by the alleged content of Bergdahl’s note. My bad.

          • AnneG

No problem. Right now what I’m concerned about is that a lot of authorities are saying, “what letter?” Worse than annoying, it’s illegal and obstructionist. Destroying evidence got Nixon to resign. Worrisome for the whole country.

  • TheGazeAblaze

He’s ashamed that he is an American.Well I’m ashamed that he is an American.

  • Hotlanta Mike

    Wow, now they are sorry…

“A top aide to President Obama is now apologizing to Congress for not informing lawmakers, as required by law, that the White House was planning to trade an alleged deserter for five top Taliban commanders.”

  • iconoclast

Bergdahl should have talked to Michelle Obama. Michelle was ashamed to be an American until her husband was elected president. Apparently they have a lot in common.

  • Indynana

SOMEONE NEEDS TO TELL OBAMMIE ! So he won’t find out about it by hearing it on the new in a few months ! !

    • felicityva

      I hate those things.

    • rulierose

I think that’s what the Obama regime considers “thinking outside the box” LOL.

  • David Tierney

If Obama likes that Islam culture so much, perhaps we Patriotic Americans should stone him to death along side Bergdahl and maybe his father too since he also hates Americans. What the hell is Congress doing allowing Obama to make the rules as he goes. We have laws for a purpose, dammit. Get off you asses and put a stop to this anti American’s tactics to destroy America, before it’s too late.

  • Stephen Stallard

I’m not rushing to call this solider a traitor just yet. I wouldn’t put it past them to salt the story, however the men in his own squad/fireteam accused him of deserting his post and to make it even worse in a active war zone so I personally don’t know, on the surface, it doesn’t look too good for him but I’m going to wait for the dust to settle before I put him in front of a firing squad.

  • Courtney Haynes

So, he’s a deserter, his father praises Allah, and he denounced his citizenship: I really don’t care. It seems that some only care about ACTUALLY saving lives when it’s politically expedient.

  • Mackie

Apparently we are supposed to ignore Bergdah’ls protestations towards his own country because he decided he didn’t like war and chose to abandon his fellow American Soldiers to somehow feel better about himself. No one made Bergdahl join the Army, it’s a volunteer army. Still Bergdahl joined the army and then in combat decides to have a change of heart. But that wasn’t good enough, he literally decides to walk away in a combat zone, sends home his belongings, leaves his gun and ventures out with a white flag mentality. playing the role of deserter/traitor instead of a duty to his oath as an American soldier. Yes Bergdahl no doubt missed the simple comforts of the little town of Hailey,Idaho not accepting that those are the choices a soldier makes.

  • Rosalee Adams

given he said he is ashamed to be an American and finds America disgusting
    hardly surprising

    • Ms. Abigail van Beagle

      If Obama’s white half had a son…

  • cscape

it’s even worse (much worse) than that…… reports are now surfacing that there were some highly suspect, successful assaults by taliban forces against targets in and around the area where BB was posted….. God only nows how many AMERICANS DIED because of this guy

    • copperpeony

But but, his hometown is throwing a concert for him !!!! That shows us what a hero he is to the low informed, MSNBC watching, non-reading people this country has created.

      • Ms. Abigail van Beagle

And I see from the news that the government is suggesting that his fellow soldiers are not credible sources of information (lying).
        No shame at all.
And the cult members will be satisfied with that.

        • Squiddy

Yeah, I saw that State Dept shill saying that.

But it was clear from the initial reports that he simply walked away, he deserted, and what the guys from his unit say now is entirely consistent with those early reports.

What was appalling is the gov claim now they’re still collecting the facts – five years later, and after they negotiated for the exchange.

The more they fight back, the worse they look – Obama should take a lesson from Carter and hide in the Rose Garden until this all blows over – 2-1/2 years from now.

    • rulierose

well, apparently 6 soldiers died searching for him after he deserted. we can start there.

    • Maryland_Malcontent

Earlier I read that this guy tried to join the French Foreign Legion but they denied him entry. This makes yet another person in our military or with clearance who shouldn’t have gotten it and there were obvious red flags all around.

  • keyboard jockey

So no one in the White House vetted Bowe Bergdahl service record. Susan Rice wouldn’t recognize honor with distinction if it bit her on her…..

  • Obama my Nigga

Maybe he thought renouncing his citizenship would protect him from paying taxes on his book deal.

  • John Howard

Obama’s reaction: Had I know that I would have gone for a 10 to one exchange rate.

  • Yeah Buddy

A new Liberal poster boy in the making.
    Pajama boy, move over!

  • copperpeony

@ChrisMurphyCT Hey, did you read that your ‘Golden Boy’ renounced his American citizenship or are you still spouting that he was a hero and everyone is picking on him? Why are Dems so naive to think that we’re as stupid as you guys?

  • socalcon

Nary a pooch the Obama administration cant screw.

  • Howler63

    “Honor and distinction.”

I wonder if Rice is typing up a resignation letter as we speak?

    • rulierose

are you kidding? after the Benghazi talk shows she ended up getting promoted. she’ll probably get a bonus.

  • gman213

Obama got punked…hope no one else dies because he is a tard.

  • Patches O’Houlihan

Having lived through the Carter years and given that I’m a conservative, I wasn’t expecting greatness from Obama, but the level of tone deaf incompetence he’s displayed, is beyond belief…

Is it possible to be this inept? Stumble and bumbling from scandal to scandal and from misstep to misstep… If he weren’t ruining the country I love, it would be almost comical to watch…

    • Maryland_Malcontent

No, it isn’t possible to be inept. That old saw about “never attribute to malice what can be explained by stupidity” comes in to play here as obama’s “ineptness” cannot be explained by stupidity; it goes beyond that.

  • RaymondBenne

seems we are dealing with desertion under fire, bring him home, than execute him

  • Bill Gilbow

Chalk it up to dumbass Obama to shit the bed politically again. What is it going to take for this dipshit to go down

    • jdd

      lapua .308

  • Brent Weaver

A few more days of this and the white house is going to find a way to get Benghazi and the leaked CIA guy back as the top headlines

  • Tony Hudson

You right wing guys just don’t stop, do you? Our president catches the biggest terrorist since Hitler, and you guys call his foreign policy “weak”. We bring back the only Afghan War POW, and you guys say we should have left him there. LOL! I’m glad you guys keep losing elections.

    • Patches O’Houlihan

Comical… In your esteemed opinion, has the infallible one ever made a mistake, or have all of his stumbles, fumbles, missteps and f’ups, been nothing more than “fake” scandals, brought on by a “vast right-wing conspiracy”?

    • Ziv

Tony, are you seriously comparing OBL to Hitler? Seriously?
And Obama “brings back” a deserter in exchange for 5 terrorists. And that is a good thing?
He, Barack, is my President, but he is a sad substitute for a real leader. George W. Bush is looking better lately because Obama is simply a pathetic excuse for a president.

Bergdall is probably a traitor, sadly enough. I don’t know what should be done about his actions but incarceration for a couple years is about as mild as I could imagine being reasonable.
Given the father’s statements, Bowe is probably a chip off the old block.
But Obama is beginning to realize that he is holding a losing hand.

    • jdd

BO is the biggest traitor that this country has ever seen, makes Benedict Arnold look like a rank amateur. Hopefully I will live long enough to see him and his co-conspirators all swinging from the end of a rope,.

    • Chuck Vipperman

I was expecting better from the Obama apologists. Granted, they have little to work with here.

      • journogal

Don’t they always have a little to work with though?

      • Shubi

They also have little to work with in the honesty and intellect departments. However, the amount of ignorance/stupidity packed into Tony’s comment is rather impressive. Comparing bin Laden and Hitler? Stupid. Suggesting that Obama’s many foreign policy blunders are beyond criticism because our Special Forces took out bin Laden? Idiotic. Ignoring the fact that “the only Afghan War POW” is most likely a deserter who renounced his citizenship? Ridiculous. Ignoring the fact that several of his fellow soldiers died because of said deserter’s actions? That five dangerous terrorist leaders were given freedom because of said traitor? Asinine.

    • Chunkdog1

I’m sorry but who, exactly, was the terrorist that Obama caught? Are you possibly talking about Bin Laden?

I understand how you could be confused, though.

It was SEAL Team Six ,who actually went in and killed Bin Laden.

It was Obama who publicly named them, putting the bullseye on their backs, resulting in their deaths.

Really, has Obama ever, just once, done anything that actually helps the US, and hurts our enemies, or is it always the other way around?

    • cheechakos

      He was not a POW.
First, the Taliban are not signatories of the Geneva Convention. Second, they’re not a country. Third, this is not a war. Congress never declared one.

If reports are correct, he’s not even an American

      Hitler wasn’t a terrorist

No one said he should be left there unless he renounced his citizenship and chose to join the Taliban. But he must answer for being AWOL and endangering our troops.

The trade for senior Taliban leaders who are known mass murderers and drug lords was illegal and demoralizing to our military

    • Ms. Abigail van Beagle

Took you guys long enough to show up with a wimpy defense.
Ya gotta learn to think on your feet.

    • Evil Otto

Obama didn’t “catch” bin Laden. The CIA found him, and Navy SEALs risked their lives to enter his compound and kill him. Obama sat in a room, watching. You drones act as if it’s a major accomplishment for Obama to have given an order that ANY president would have.

As for Bergdahl, it’s looking more and more to be a disaster. Obama traded five terrorists for a deserter.

    • KBS2011

Hey, tony. You’re new to this game, right? You might want to get your story straight…you’re flopping big time. Oh, and so is your buddy.

  • stuckinIL4now

Is this part of the don’t do stupid sh!+ forpol? So at the very least, Obumuh so far is guilty of aiding and abetting the enemy, no?

  • jdd

“Will no one rid me of this turbulent priest?”

  • Ralph Brandt

    Another Obama, Biden, Kerry masterpiece.

  • Ralph Brandt

He is not worthy of any honor, only a firing squad or a rope. If we had a president not a muslim figurehead the father would be being investigated for terrorism or treason.

  • Jessica Connel

This scandal just keeps getting worse. Hollywood couldn’t come up with this crap.

    • Ms. Abigail van Beagle

I do hope there are writers somewhere taking notes. It would be the first original idea to come out of Hollywood in years and years. Besides, they’re running out of things to rehash.

  • Charles Hammond Jr

“FNC reports Bergdahl renounced US citizenship”

Does this mean we can shoot him now?

I’m being honest. This man’s actions led to the deaths of several marines.

    • iconoclast

He should be shot. Bergdahl also reportedly helped the Taliban build bombs and advised on attacks against NATO forces.

But, with the current denizen of the White House and his apparatchiks, Bergdahl will likely be awarded a medal.

  • Bubbles

I am Canadian and a conservative. I love America but I can’t believe what I have seen. A president elected only a few years after 9/11, while 100s of thousands are fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan, named Barack Hussein Obama. He gives a speech in Cairo, apologising for America. He lies about Banghazi. And now he makes a show of this deserter trade for 5 high level murders of Americans in the rose garden with a Taliban sympathiser, with a Taliban beard, speaking their language, basically saying the White House and America belongs to Islam. I don’t blame the father for doing anything he feels can help get his son back but of course he has a huge bias. However, Obama used it as a PR ploy to deflect attention from his VA scandal. What happened to America? Dead soldiers must be rolling in their graves. Canadian soldiers lost life and limb in afghanistan and the leader of the free world does this? And he breaks the law by not informing congress. A law he signed 3 times.

    • Maryland_Malcontent

Please keep trying to make Canada as conservative as you can as it might be the last resort for us conservatives in the US.

The “lamestream media” here is pretty much banned from ragging on obama here so I’ve heard a lot about Toronto’s Rob Ford and despite his lunacy (and supposed fandom of obama) and liberalism he’s already worlds above what we have here @ 1600 Penn.

      • Bubbles

I voted for Ford because he is fiscally conservative but he is too drunk and high to be Mayor and says the most disgusting things about women including his wife. I am so embarrassed.

We have had a conservative federal government for 7 years but the Ontario government, my province has been liberal for the past 11 years and has spent us into the ground, including a couple of BILLION in scandals. Actually crimes. $1.1 just in cancelling four gas plants near toronto to win 4 seats in the last election. But labour will still vote them. The ORANGE scandal is unbelievable but the minister in charge didn’t even lose he cabinet position. Purely criminal.

    • Chuck Vipperman

It shows the power of distributing “bread and circuses” to the masses—and the hostile way those masses react when their sustenance is threatened. We have become a nation of takers…and there are only a few of us left who give a damn.

      • Bubbles

Bergdah’s got all the qualifications to be a superstar in the demonrat party, he could be the next J F’n Kerry!

Fire up the gallows for him and his family.

    • prado4587

We will win the hearts and minds of America and defeat Nobama and the liberals by killing soldiers and their parents

      • freeulysses

When he left his gun, helmet, and armor behind, mailed his laptop to his parents, and walked into the mountains with a compass and his camera, I think he stopped being a soldier, and likely a citizen by his own choice. Every soldier knows the penalty for desertion. It hasn’t changed in 1000 years of warfare.

How do you figure it is killing soldiers and their parents?

        Not understanding your sarcasm!

  • DeathFromTheShadows

Dont buy into this so soon. Lets see this “note”. And what he says now has no bearing. Five years of indoctrination and brain washing, not to remember disillusionment of being taken captive under a despot president like Obama…

  • gold7406

160 taliban, 1 deserter. the area should have been leveled.

  • freeulysses

Can any of you imagine any past president, of any party, doing something this stupid and harmful to American foreign policy, people, and armed services? JFK, the man who faced down Krushev and Castro, compared to this idiot who panders to the ragtag Taliban. Trade away 5 known killers, for one Napoleon Dynamite at best, and quite possibly the worst act of desertion we’ve seen in many wars.

  • JeffyTheQuick

I’m sure when confronted, Obama will claim that he “Read about it in the paper”

Mr. Desert Soldier, was afraid to fight
Wrote a note to his friends and
    Disappeared in the night
Spent 5 years with the enemy teaching them our skills
    Gets traded home
    and may get killed
    Isn’t it ironic
    Don’t you think?

It’s like rain on your weddin’ day
It’s a free ride when you’ve already paid
It’s the good advice that you just didn’t take
And who would’ve thought, it figures

  • Sinjun

the cynic in me wonders if this was calculated to distract us so we’ll take our eyes off those five terrorist leaders who were released.

  • MacCaroline

  • stax dinero

I don’t think for a second that they would release 5 high level terrorists without watching them to see what bigger they get led to. You can hate Obama all you want to, but let’s make sense here. You can’t even leave jail in The US as a sex offender without monitoring and notification of neighbors. How are we gonna set terrorists free and not monitor them too. Local law enforcement does it all the time to get led to a bigger arrest.

    • dcp5674

No, but you can leave jail as an illegal alien charged with almost anything without being watched…..or deported.

  • Kenneth DeWit Jr

To all you on here that want to GLORIFY OBAMA for this ACT OF TREASON! GOD HELP YOU!

  • Calvinius

“If confirmed”. Yeah, and since it’s made-up nonsense it never will be confirmed.

    • sko511

Actually it is not made-up. The guys he left behind has said that he left a note from the beginning which stated that he was leaving and he deserted his unit.

      • Calvinius

Which even if true would have no connection to “renouncing US citizenship”.

  • Noctis Wolf

It’s confirmed. In legal parlance, this is called an admission of guilt:

” Sometime after midnight on June 30, 2009, Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl left behind a note in his tent saying he had become disillusioned with the Army, did not support the American mission in Afghanistan and was leaving to start a new life. ”

He admitted that he was deserting

  • pairadimes

Ambassador Stevens and his security detail could not be reached for comment.

  • John Kenner

Charge ahead with the steeds of liberty:

  • blobclark

So, we have a marine of loyalty and honor who kept his citizenship – languishing in a mexican prison for a driving mistake and somebody tells me this “citizenship renouncing” POS gets to come back to the states in exchange for 5 terrorists ? !
