Suspected 9/11 truther and confirmed jackass Macklemore is still causing a stir days after performing in Seattle. This past Friday, the rapper took to the stage dressed like … well, see for yourself:

Subtle, right?

Actor Seth Rogen didn’t appear to be amused:

What the hell.

As a matter of fact, that’s exactly how it happened:

Of course not. As it happens …

Here’s the proof:

We can’t help but wonder what his “hella good Jewish homies” think of his costume. The Twitterverse at large definitely isn’t giving Macklemore the benefit of the doubt:

  • Ghee!

Remember, all the left has to do after insulting someone is to say, “I’m kidding” and its all good.

This doucherocket should say he’s kidding after everyone of his songs for the insult to good taste that they are as well.

    • walterc

And then count on the Jewish vote. Boggles the mind.

      • GoldsteinsBook

        Macklemore is running for office?

        • walterc

No but it’s the same mentality of the rest of the political left that GMLand was referring to.

      • Mark81150 Never/Trump/Hillary

That they get so much of it, boggles it even more…

I get that liberalism is the secular Jewish thing, from father to.., vote D son,…. we care about people… without ever checking to see just what their support is used to justify..

that Jewish groups never take note of the raging Jew bashing in hip hop, in left wing college culture… I mean.. what will it take to get them to see who their enemy really is.. it isn’t our kids doing this.. it’s the left’s.

        • LloydTheDuck

As long as the Republican Party has fundamentalist Christianity as its official religion and promotes fundamentalist Christianity as a state religion, and screeches for official Christian and only Christian prayers in public schools and at all public events, all religious minorities, whether Buddhists, Jews, Muslims, etc, will continue to vote 70+% Democratic.

          • JMW

Muslims vs Western civilization in Europe and North America
            Muslims vs Christian in Africa
            Muslims vs Jews in Isreal
            Muslims vs Hindus in India
Muslims vs Buddhists in……..wait Buddhists? The Muslims are killing Buddhists? Who the hell can’t get along with Buddhists?
            I’m beginning to see a pattern here…… 0_o

    • Mark81150 Never/Trump/Hillary

Thank you Jesus…. I have never heard of him or any of his songs.. for which, I am eternally grateful.

That bad huh?……. from the picture, I am only surprised he never thought appearing in blackface would be a hoot… if we don’t tear the growing antisemitism out by the roots… it’ll just get worse… I won’t tolerate this kind of crap from my hip hop loving nephew.. my kids, thankfully, actually have taste in music.. never listen to rap..

The contemporary stuff my daughter likes, is sctually pretty good… my son, likes older stuff, like Queen,.. We Will Rock You is almost his anthem.

    • dmsday

that’s because everyone of his songs are a joke. he’s a joke, and everybody that put him on the map is a joke.

  • RblDiver

To leftists, it’s a deadly sin to speak out against (let alone mock) LGBT, Muslims, etc. But mocking Jews? ‘S totally cool, right?

    • Opticonica

Who cares……….liberals never have a problem mocking Christians or Christ himself……..smh.

      • $30716569

Mocking someone for their beliefs is fundamentally different from mocking them for who they are. And just go ahead and ignore the millions upon millions of liberal Christians.

        • Proud2bfromtheUSA

Liberal Chrisitans? They keep using that word. I don’t think it means what they think it does.

It takes more than naming yourself a Christian, than being one. You will know them by their fruits.

          • $30716569

Of course, not TRUE Christian could be liberal. Then you’d have to question your conception of liberals, and might realize they are human beings. God may love you , but that does not mean he’s proud of you.

        • Scott H

Decorating a tree in December and hiding eggs in the spring does not make you a Christian.

        • Not of this World

KPM….then ask yourself this; If you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, then you cannot be a liberal progressive. On the other hand, if you’re a professed liberal progressive, and also refer to yourself as a Christian, then I’d elude, you’re confused. I hope you know the Lord, I do, unconditionally.

    • LloydTheDuck

Gotta love how conservatives automatically assume that because Macklemore is an entertainer (or a rapper), he must be a liberal.

At any rate, his act was a nasty anti-Semitic minstrel show directed at ultraorthodox Jews specifically (beard, black suit coat).

      • RblDiver

Check the link above to his 9/11 Truther background, and read the lyrics to his song. Yes, he’s a liberal, I guarantee it.

        • LloydTheDuck

9/11 trutherism doesn’t make you a liberal; Alex Jones is an extreme-right 9/11 truther, for example.

      • Sami B

It’s not an automatic assumption. He doesn’t exactly hide it.

      • ClinkinKY

He’s a lib, OK? If you want to flaunt it, own it. Sheesh. Is there any (legitimate) reason that Disqus doesn’t display “down votes” anymore? Yeah, it’s a rhetorical question. Pussies.

        • Worship Dancer

because the libbies whined & called them racists.

      • Proud2bfromtheUSA

We know him by his fruits only a liberal would put out songs in praise of filth and then mock Christians and Jews.

        • LloydTheDuck

LOL by your logic, the ultraright atheist (and antitheist) Ayn Rand was a liberal!

          • brijsmith

and Jesus was a dangerous liberal radical who called for income redistribution

      • Jay Stevens

Well, he passes the duck test.

      • Jerry Camp

Yeah, the ‘same love’ dog & pony show…the 9/11 truther stuff…naw, can’t be a liberal, right?

      • JMW

You just got to go with the percentages….. if a person does something really stupid in Hollywood or the music industry or anywhere else for that matter… then it’s almost certain (97% or so) they are a leftist.
….the other 3% are probably drunk, like Mel Gibson. 😉
…..and if you disagree with my theory then you are a denier of science. SCIENCE!! Don’t be uncool…follow my rule.

    • trixiewoobeans

They’re phonies. They’re sellouts, and they’re just riding the wave of the new “hip,” which is Hate.

  • nc ✓s & balances

Let’s not tiptoe around this. That was no “witch’s nose” he was wearing. Maybe that’s what the package said when he bought it. But that’s not what he intended it to be. Is this 2014? Or 1938?

    • Macsen Overdrive

Considering what’s been happening in Ukraine lately, I’m leaning toward 1938.

      • annoyinglittletwerp

My half-Jewish son might be stopping in Kiev next month…unless Russia decides to invade. I’ve got some Ukrainian born friends who tell me that Kiev is fine.

    • skypilot77

      “Or 1938?”

When I saw that photo I had the distinct feeling the world has seen this before — and of course I thought of the 1930’s

I do not see this bigotry stopping. It gets worse before it gets better.

  • Perso Nasplit

Amazing watching people realize that leftists are in fact being racist in almost everything they do. Terribly saddening when they excuse the leftists for their actions with obviously stretched reasoning.

    • 97E

While I agree, I have just one nitpick. It’s nothing personal, as I have to use this particular ‘line’ with leftists all too often:

Jewish is not a race. The term you are looking for is ‘bigotry’, not ‘racism’.

  • LinTaylor ✓vitrified

I guess if you’re liberal, you can insult whomever you want and use whatever offensive stereotypes you want without being labeled a racist, sexist, homophobic bigot, because as we all know, liberals are so amazingly tolerant and respectful.

    • mrspinky85

The recent stories most have been leftist stereotyping but hey… Tea Party.

      • ambistoes

Tea Party…. and? Care to finish your thought or are you incapable of articulation?

        • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

MrsP’s one of the “good guys,” and doubt about an ambiguous punctuation is to be resolved in her favor. She’s saying, although it’s the Left doing the stereotyping, they shout (and here’s where MrsP should have thrown the “scare-quotes”): “Tea Party.” The ellipsis should be a hint. If you say it aloud, it makes sense.

          • ambistoes

            Okay. Lol ! Thanks.

          • JMW

Thanks. I also thought mrspinky85 was ripping on the Tea Party….. 😉

    • Ms. Abigail van Beagle

I will always marvel at how the ones yelling “RACIST!” always have the most vile and even antiquated racial stereotypes on hand.

      • LinTaylor ✓vitrified

Actually, I’ll agree with what I heard on Radio Dead Air: I don’t think Macklemore is anti-Semitic, I think he’s just an a-hole.

    • Summerwarmth

Well it seems here lately that it is the left that is being found to be racist, sexist, sterotyping, and bigots (they always have been but now they are sticking out like sore thumbs).

That is why they are now trying to shift into micro aggression for the Independent and the Right where according to them you don’t have to say anything bad but they can look for subtle signs and clues and triggers to still yell, point, and call names.

    • Jim

Yeah, pretty much. Liberal millennials absolutely worship Macklemore like he’s some kind of genius because he’s pro-gay marriage, and I guarantee they will just keep right on worshipping him, even after this. Bigotry only counts if you’re a conservative.

      • Jake Bradford

Macklemore has lots of millennial fans. But there are also a lot who think he’s crap

        • $30716569

More importantly he has hardly any non-millenial fans.

      • Jerry Camp

His 15 minutes is nearly up anyway…this may be the nail in that coffin, finally.

    • Cantbelieveyouthinkthis

Absolutely, nothing like Nick Cannon going white face to prove you point better….

  • mrspinky85

Come on leftists where are you calling him out.

    • Summerwarmth

It is taking some time because they are trying to work out how it is Conservatives or the Tea Party’s fault.

      • mrspinky85

They really haven’t proved how the Tea Party is racist so far. So, I guess we will be waiting.

        • Summerwarmth

That is my thought. Either they will grasp for straws – or just wait it out and let the media drop it.

        • Brown

It’s the Koch brothers fault and it’s the ring wing owned media making this story a controversy!

          • mrspinky85

If the Koch Brothers was as powerful and bad as Reid says he wouldn’t have taken money from them.

          • Brown

Reid would do no such thing, he’s an outstanding member of congress and unlike those greedy sex obsessed/racist right wingers he really cares about the poor people! It’s not Reid’s fault that he’s been involved in some scandals it’s just the Koch Brothers Mafia trying to set him up! Us white people need to repent and admit our white guilt so America can move forward.

I’m sorry I can’t continue playing the crazy liberal card it makes my head hurt and I’m pretty sure I can literally
            hear my brain cells dying.

  • Macsen Overdrive

    Just your typical liberal hypocrite.

      nuff said.

More pointless people in an increasingly irrelevant and putrid cesspool that is popular culture.

      • Ghee!

        well said, Heather.

  • SometimesWise

Jews, along with Roman Catholics and, increasingly, all religious people are now fair game. As a matter of fact, it is actually COOL to mock people that liberals think are unworthy. You get your little “Gee, aren’t I clever” badge, and a pass on the hypocrisy.

    • Summerwarmth

Yes, Jew, Christian, Fat, White, Old, and/or Straight, you are not in protected status and the Progs are not only attacking in snide remarks and etc but seem to be giggling over their cleverness.

Then when called out on it they go for the big oopsy response and act like it is no big deal.

      • mrspinky85

All you have to be is a conservatives and all other labels that would make you beloved by the left go out the window.

        • Summerwarmth

Yes, the things that are said about black conservatives by the left are tragic bordering on criminal.

          • mrspinky85

The things they say about any conservative is nasty usually. Talk about unity though.

          • Summerwarmth

Very true and it’s the hypocrisy too that just shines forth.

    • Jake Bradford

Only 2 religions are off limits: Islam and Leftism

      • mrspinky85

    • $30716569

You’ve been cited with one count of derision toward liberalism. The cops are on their way.

  • JohnnyN2O

Looks like Ringo Star to me

  • World B. Free

    Oy, gevalt!

  • Ms. Abigail van Beagle

He turned me off with the “People used to think I was gay cuz I’m creative, but I don’t think I am, but it would be really nifty if I was…” speech at the beginning of one of his “songs”.

    • nc ✓s & balances

      That doesn’t even make sense.

      • Ms. Abigail van Beagle

That was what I got out of his ramblings. It’s even more disturbing when I pull the lyrics and have a look:

“When I was in the 3rd grade I thought that I was gay
Cause I could draw, my uncle was
And I kept my room straight
I told my mom, tears rushing down my face
She’s like, “Ben you’ve loved girls since before pre-K”
Trippin’, yeah, I guess she had a point, didn’t she
A bunch of stereotypes all in my head
I remember doing the math like
“Yeah, I’m good at little league”
A pre-conceived idea of what it all meant
For those who like the same sex had the characteristics
The right-wing conservatives think its a decision
And you can be cured with some treatment and religion
        Man-made, rewiring of a pre-disposition
        Playing God
        Ahh nah, here we go
        America the brave
Still fears what we don’t know”

        • Perry

          Sounds like a brilliant guy……..NOT!

        • nc ✓s & balances

This is a perfect example of what happens when you needlessly expose children to confusing sexual ideas. Little boys and girls will grow up knowing full well where their attractions lie (just try and stop them!) if we just leave them be.

Do teens need info about “safe sex” and, I would add, responsible sex? Of course. But sexual confusion in young children leads to nothing good.

        • mrspinky85

He talks about stereotyping but then stereotypes conservatives. Go figure.

    • Jerry Camp

Yeah, too bad he’s not very creative. It’s easy to be a lefty ‘entertainer’. Liberal tropes are easily traded in for cheap ‘industry’ awards; see the recent spate of ‘evil white people’ movies for examples.

I thought he kinda looked like Howard Wolowitz.

    • aztectrumpet

It looks like he took that character and magnified the jewish stereotypes of it.

  • Oxbow

nothing but seething hatred for Jews, ‘bible thumping red necks’ and Uncle Toms from the anti-bigotry brigade

    • mrspinky85

This falls under the same garbage as the lefty “comediennes” who are disgusting and hide behind the “joke or satire” title to be trash. It is annoying and they definitely need to be called out on it.

  • QueenB

Soooo…..the rodeo clown with the Obama mask is off the hook and has his job back, right? Blackface is now acceptable, right?

    • Oxbow

wearing a mask isn’t black face, asshole

      • QueenB

Didn’t say it was. That’s why there were two separate sentences. Learn how to read. Also, going with name calling right off the bat means you have no argument.

    • Ghee!

      hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha… yea, right.

    • mrspinky85

I don’t know what is up with this new thing that its ok for liberals to be offensive because hey.. we aren’t righties.
Just like the ass who wore the Confederate uniform and actually made KKK hoods. He did the very thing that they claim Tea Partiers do!

      • nc ✓s & balances

We have to keep track of these things, they whiz by us too quickly!

    • QueenB

BTW, guy who called me an a$$hole in your comment that has thus far not been allowed through by the moderators…….reading comprehension not your strong suit, eh? Love the name calling though. Really helps you get your point across.

  • frozeninbemidji

Intolerance in the name of tolerance, a staple of the left.

I’m guessing that Mr. Mariah Carey had no problem with the bigotry.

  • thedumbblonde

Yet, a camel on campus is completely beyond the pale.

      Oh yeah. The Camel Fiasco.

What next? Macklemoor singing in black face with jericurls?

  • Spinmamma

Oh –Phhht!! It’s a privileged heterosexual white male–real name Haggerty.. FIFY libs! And his mamma Is probably a closet Tea Party member

  • Guest

What the heck is going on with the leftists these days? Too many of them aren’t even trying to hide their intolerance any longer!

    • almarquardt

Because they realized no one (at least not in the media) is going to call them on it. They are the ones in power, so they don’t have to worry about any consequences.

  • mrspinky85

Had a nerve to talk about racial profiling. Dude, go have 10 seats.

  • EdinColorado

I have the feeling that the Jewish community is laughing at everyone making comments about this…

    • nc ✓s & balances

Why would you say that? There’s nothing funny here.

  • Nebokenezzer

Next week, blackface! No.. No.. Not that. I’m a coal miner today!

  • malpaso

Reading the apologists at HuffPo is almost as depressing as this story is….

  • HoneyTree EvilEye

Not surprising at all. Hating Jews is a prerequisite for being a Leftist.

    • Guest

Yes, and that would explain why nearly 70% of American Jews voted for President Obama. O, right …… AMERICAN Jews.

      • HoneyTree EvilEye

Which was another election where Jewish support for Republicans was up. Left racism hasn’t stopped blacks and hispanics for voting for them either. They still love all the “free” door prizes you get for keeping Democrats in office.

      • journogal

Where did you go, Valerie? I know it’s you, because you are the one who types “O,” instead of “Oh.”

        • nc ✓s & balances

          It was Valerie. I remember.

    • LegalizeShemp

Wrong, hating Christians is the prerequisite, especially if you want to be successful in Hollywood.

    • $30716569

Whoops, guess I’ll have to turn in my card.

  • djallyn

What a steaming pile of idiots here!

First of all, look at the TITLE and the TOPIC of the song. “Thrift shop”. Then look at the ENTIRE wardrobe he was wearing — virtually every bit and stitch came from Value Village — a Thrift shop.

As a Jewish man, I cannot for the life of me understand the connection that could possibly be made between the song and a supposed caricature of a Jewish person. But what I DO see here is a bunch of dings with too much time on their hands trying to find something else to object to or feel an outrage for.

Minus the witch’s nose, would ANYTHING in his “costume” that night indicate he was making fun of the Jews?

You people really need to back away from your computers and get a life.

    • World B. Free

Um…. maybe the black wig and beard?

As someone tweeted above, he looks like a propaganda cartoon straight out of a 1930s Nazi newspaper.

      • djallyn

Yeah, because a fake black beard and wig just SCREAM Jewish caricature.

Again, go back an look at the TITLE and the TOPIC of the song. Then tell me how any of that seems to fit into your “anti-Jew” meme here.

        Logic. Look it up.

        • nc ✓s & balances

Let’s pretend the sky is green and he put on the “fake witches nose” in innocent fun, with no anti-Semitic intent. After seeing the response, wouldn’t you expect a mortified, “Oh no, that’s not at all what I meant, what was I thinking? I’m SO sorry!”

I honestly don’t know how you think that nose is irrelevant.

        • World B. Free

Don’t be dense (it it’s possible for you NOT to be). Forget about the title of the song. Look at the pictures and tell me he’s not trying to look like the stereotypical Jew.

Anyone with any intellectual honesty can see that.

          • djallyn

You know, I actually refrained from calling YOU “dense” in my last comment, just to be civil. However, it is YOU who are too invested into having to be “offended” that you will adopt whatever “insult” someone tells you about and try to make it your own.

As I said earlier, I have NO investment financial or emotional in Mr. Macklemore, nor do I share any “common ground” that I know of. But I AM more than a little familiar with the industry, and I actually know a bit more to this particular story than 99.9999 percent of the people throwing in their two-cents here. I know that HE didn’t personally pick up the costume from the 12th Avenue East Value Village in Seattle, and that he was simply presented with a bag with an assortment of clothing and props, and that it was basically a THEME costume for the topic of the song.

Now YOU, and your other fellow travelers looking for the “offense du jour” wind your emotions up over — and no matter what I say or what the actual facts are — there is obviously nothing anyone is ever going to tell you that will change your DENSE minds.

Oh, and the avatar you see me using — I was the sound engineer the other night. I kinda have some first hand knowledge on this.

But hey, don’t let me stand in the way of your mental masturbation over all of this. Kleenex is in the corner….>

          • World B. Free

Don’t pat yourself on the back too hard for not explicitly calling me dense. You implied it with your little remark about looking up logic.

Oh, and you were the soundman? Whoop-de-doo! And that qualifies you as an expert on this topic how, exactly? You’re nothing but a grunt for a two-bit phony rapper.

          • djallyn

I was THERE, Goofy. I saw what happened, and HOW it happened. That pretty much makes me a LOT more of an “expert” on this particular topic than you and your “101 Key Fighter Force” here spewing out your opinion sans any actual fact other than reading what others here spew as”Op-Facts”

You’ve got to start taking everything you read here with a grain of salt — even what I am saying here. I said to start using logic and reasoning and part of that is to ask yourself some pretty basic questions, like:

WHY? Let’s assume for a moment that it was Macklemore’s intent to dress up like a caricature of a Jewish store owner from the 1930s. What would be the motivation, or better yet, the message he would be trying to convey while performing a song that has absolutely NOTHING to do with Jews?

Here, since it appears that you are not only intellectually lazy, but just plain lazy to boot. I will post you the lyrics of this “song”.

As I indicated earlier, this particular genre isn’t really MY taste of music, but he DOES have a fairly large following (at the moment — I’ve worked with a LOT of bands over the years who were “The Big Thing” then but have faded away since then)

But hey, when you start showing some of that “anger” and “outrage” to a musician who has continually threatened to stick his AR-15 up a sitting president’s ass and pull the trigger, THEN I might start taking you a bit more seriously. (Look up Ted Nugent)

BTW: I happen to be Jewish — which I suspect that you aren’t.

            “Thrift Shop”

            (feat. Wanz)

Hey, Macklemore! Can we go thrift shopping?

            What, what, what, what…

            I’m gonna pop some tags

Only got twenty dollars in my pocket

            I – I – I’m hunting, looking for a come-up

            This is fucking awesome

Nah, walk up to the club like, “What up? I got a big cock!”

I’m so pumped about some shit from the thrift shop

“nazi anti semitic propaganda posters” – please google this and view “images”. This will give you a decent idea as to why this was at worst a horrific anti-semitic display by Macklemore OR at best a very poor mistake by someone who needs to think before they go on stage and wear costumes.

As a Jew myself, I find it very odd that you can not see the link.

My fave part of your comment – “Minus the witch’s nose, would ANYTHING in his “costume” that night indicate he was making fun of the Jews?”

I worked at Value Village and shopped at Thrift Stores my whole life. What does a black wig or big nose have to do with a Thift Store?

      • djallyn

Can you buy either of those items — along with the shiny ’70s disco shirt and the other clothes he was wearing at Value Village?

How much Halloween crap does VV sell year round? I mean, if you needed an outlet for virtually any kind of costume, VV and other thrift stores are the prime sources for this kind of stuff.

I know that the people on the Right NEED something to get riled up over, but this is a bit ridiculous.

What is even MORE amazing is that most of the people who are feeling “offended” by this aren’t even Jewish.

Interesting timing. Yesterday, I watched an incredible movie made in 1947. Gentleman’s Agreement – staring Gregory Peck. This Macklemore act is the sort of anti-semitism disguised as jokes/humor/satire/fun … Which is the EXACT topic of that classic movie. I highly recommend everyone see that movie.

Hip hop as an art form is dead. It’s now a hideous caricature of it’s former self.

  • LegalizeShemp

Not cool, but again, big time double standards here. You can do skits mocking Catholic priests and nuns galore and not a shred of outrage from the “no stereotypes” crowd. Plus turn on virtually any Hollywood celebrity podcast and listen to plenty of mockery of Christians and slavish praise of Jews. Sorry, not much sympathy here, just double standards.

    • mrspinky85

I was thinking about this. This is the end featuring Seth Rogen plays with the Rapture. We have tattooed Jesus. We have Jesus Christ Superstar. We have Nicki Minaj doing exorcisms.
I don’t know but where does it end.

  • MaxVoltz

Relax, it was only Jew mocking. It’s only racist if he mocks muzzies. Besides, by jackass definition, Macklemore can’t be racist because he’s gay. Sickening, isn’t it?

Wait, aren’t the people outraged by this the same ones who tell us that entertainment content is harmless and has absolutely NO EFFECT on the people who watch it? Yes, yes, it’s the “hey, just change the channel if you don’t like it” crowd who maintain that sex, violence and profanity laced entertainment is harmless to children, while urging you to “lighten up and be able to laugh at yourself”. Looks like they don’t believe that BS when it’s their ox being gored.

    I don’t know” – Macklemore “Same Love”
“Sucksomemore” has a history of stereotyping. Pardon me but I’m just gonna sit back and savor what’s coming his way. The media may try to sweep this under the rug, but Jewish actors and his Jewish fans are NOT gonna sit quietly. Anyone want popcorn?

    • $30716569

That verse is pretty spot-on though. Until right wing groups stop funding the fight against marriage equality and republican politicians support gay rights they’ll rightfully be seen as bigots.

      • Jimni27

You are so naïve if you think only “right wingers” are against gay marriage. I’m pro equality myself, but I have seen PLENTY of liberals make comments on Michael Sam and any other celebrity that comes out of the closet. Are you that naïve or in denial or a troll?

        • $30716569

None of the above, I just understand the difference between one political party who has pockets of bigoted supporters and the other party who has it written in their DNA. There are right wingers who support gay marriage as well, but don’t expect any support coming out of the Republican caucus.

        • $30716569

I’m none of the above. Listen, good for you being pro equality and all. I don’t know your politics and I don’t care. The fact is, the right wing politicians at the national level pretty much universally oppose gay marriage (whether it’s principle or politics is hard to say, but I suspect the latter) which trickles down to the state level. If you vote for a republican candidate in a national election, you are either supporting bigotry or at least complacent in it.

          • Jimni27

Bull. It’s not politics. If it were politics they would talk the talk like Obama and then turn around and do NOTHING for equality except pay lip service to gay athletes and celebrities. Whether people choose to accept it or not, our country still has a lot of Christians who only believe in traditional marriage. That includes Christians on the left. It does NOT automatically make them bigots or ANTI GAY. That’s just the nice little neat box libs like to put them in. Take the WBC, Those are bigots. Name calling is bigotry. Being pro traditional marriage> Not bigotry.

          • $30716569

Being pro traditional marriage is not bigotry, but that’s really not the right way to describe the position. It’s anti-gay marriage, because no one is trying to take away traditional marriage…most everyone is “pro traditional marriage”, what’s under attack is the gay rights movement.

So yes, being pro traditional marriage in the practical sense that the goal is to demolish all attempts to legalize gay marriage automatically makes you a bigoted anti-gay. It’s not name-calling, it’s an apt label.

I’ll bet that many politicians hold the firm belief that homosexuality is an abomination, but to have the entire republican party condemn or at least stay silent on the issue suggests that there is a huge political component as well. Upset your base, lose your seat.

And seriously, damn the idea that somehow calling out injustice is as bad as the injustice itself.

  • SteveP

I got a good laugh at the many commenters who are saying they don’t see the him dressing up like a stereotypical Jewish person/making excuses just because he’s a hero to many on the left yet these are the same people screaming about right wing racist/ the tea party hates black people.

  • Im_Rick_James

Kay, not that anybody gives a s#$t what I think, but I’m still gonna put it up. A disturbing trend that I see from my warriors on the right is the same sort of righteous indignation that the left engages in. Can we please take a step back and see that we are engaging in the same shaming, the same free-speech-squelching tactics as those on the left who we so despise. Can we not have a GD sense of humor? Can we not take the higher road than those pearl-clutching, panty-knotting punk b#$tches on the left that we so despise? Are we going to play their game? Or are we going to take a f#$king midol and deal with it?

    • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Can we? We could. Should we? I think not– at any rate, we should not let it go unremarked upon. The high dudgeon some seem to be expressing comes from the obvious double standard of the Left seeing “microaggressions” and “white privilege” in things that are clearly not intended to offend having been said or done by whites not in their camp, while they can get away with it, because “irony” or “satire.” Case in point: Stephen Colbert, in his tiresome send-up of Bill O’Reilly.

Colbert implies that RW whites are stupid enough to refer to Chinese as ching-chongs, in a comedic bit meant to ridicule the name of a football team that Native tribes might (and I repeat MIGHT) find offensive. What Chinese have to do directly with the controversy is not clear to ME, at any rate, and the gratuitous use of a slur, and imputing its use to a white RW, of a group having nothing to do with it, is somehow heralded as “satirical.” An Asian woman objecting to it was openly mocked for not understanding the satire. And for a white non-Left person to object on the Asians’ behalf is, to the Lefties, evidence of, at best, “paternalism” and at worst, an excuse deflecting the question of white privilege, and unconscious racism in “sticking up for your own kind” (i.e., that we would be defending the “O’Reillys” who would say this, you KNOW they would, right?)

Lefties can “sin” by making fun of minorities, and mocking minorities IS a sin in their eyes– it’s NOT just “dealing poorly with others.” But if you do it at one remove– “Hey, look at me, I’m a conservative mocking minorities!” in a direct mockery of the conservatives, the guilty pleasure of mocking the people you cannot openly mock is attenuated thereby. This obviously begs the question whether anyone should be mocked. Had they judged not, that they would not be judged, and refrained from the mockery of Chinese implicit in the mockery of the conservative, they would not have been called out on it. And having been called on it as they were, they attempt to continue another type of mockery– that of good taste and good judgment.

Let them say what they like. Let them be coolly and calmly condemned for what they DO say. No squelching, no knickers in a knot– simply a “how ridiculous, you silly child!”

IRJ, you have a point except for the fact that not all “offenses” are equally bad. Libbies often get tied up in knots over really stupid stuff like bringing a camel to an event because some moron thought it was culturally insensitive.

Stuff like that is hardly the same as symbols that have literally meant death to certain groups, like cross burnings or yes, these kind of images that evoke the Nazi era. This kind of propaganda is being spread in Europe today where Jews in France, for example, are under attack regularly.

Wait, the higher road is endorsing hate, racism and anti-semitism? Or just turning a blind eye?

Not doing anything to stop racism is the worst thing we can do. Calling him a piece of crap or worse and telling him hes a racist a$$ for dressing like a stereotype is the wrong thing. Showing him how he is being racist, calmly and publicly, is the best thing. Id rather #2 than #1. Its not silencing his free speech. Its using OUR to defend people. Theres a big difference. (edited “#3” to “#1”)

Your theory falls apart when it is his own fans (NOT conservatives) who were bashing him on twitter.
If someone wants to bash him here, let them. He is a joke and has attacked conservatives plenty.
There is a difference between the hysterical outrage the Left engages in to SHUT DOWN speech or get someone fired or banned…and a few snarky comments online

Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from response.

His public speech was shitty. People said so and he went on his way without being arrested by the government. The First Amendment did its job.

    Pathetic and ignorant but typical!

Next up … his “I’m not mocking Catholics” mockery of the OTHER group it’s still A-OK to slander without apology.

Making fun of a minority group and then defending yourself with “it was satire”? I think Stephen Colbert has found a co-host.

I suggest Macklemore wear this “random costume” next time he sings Same Love

  • Mr. Fever Head

Maybe the simpler explanation is that he’s just an imbecile.

The majority of Hollywood movie scripts are written by Jews and they have no problem stereotyping other races and ethnic groups. The Latino maid or landscaping guy? The toothless redneck? The bumbling black guy? The dumb blonde? The Italian gangster? Not sure a thrifty Jewish man is that bad in comparison. I guess Ringo Starr better get a nose job before he gets accused of something…
