Earlier this week, Gov. Nathan Deal signed a bill into law that would expand gun carry rights for Georgia citizens. The news provoked outrage from Piers Morgan and other anti-gun zealots. Morgan’s CNN predecessor Larry King also sees this as a giant step backward:

“The wild, wild West”? Careful, Larry. You’re dating yourself!

As for the good people of Georgia:

  • Ghee!

    • Blake Waymire

And people generally left their firearms with the local police when they got into town.

      • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100004422431818 Sur Mar

In Dodge City that was the law; but that city was known for all the crime it had.

        • Blake Waymire

And even then, Dodge City still had less crime than NYC at the time.

  • Mary Mommy Happy 2016!

Yet Democrat states with strict liberal gun laws and gun free zones still have high crimes rates and murders related to gun violence.

So why not have citizens who follow the law and are honest people be allow to have a gun on their person to protect themselves Mr. King?

    • LegalizeShemp

King and other lib-tards like to live in “gun free zones” where you step outside and bullets whiz past your head, usually fired by a Democrat Party constituent who hasn’t been helped by 50 years of Great Society liberalism.

Georgia will probably soon realize the only thing that will keep the criminal population under control is basically a boot on their throat.

Some people will not act like a person unless you make them.

  • Maxx

Hundreds of thousands of men and women carry guns at their side each day and don’t shoot anyone. They’re called police officers. A citizen who carries has LESS legal protections than law enforcement so the claim that more guns automatically creates a “Wild West” scenario is so beyond imbecilic that it hardly warrants a response.

Let’s just break this down to a simple observation. On any given weekend, it’s likely that more than a thousand gun-carrying people will walk into Gander Mountain and spend an hour or more walking around other people who are carrying. There will be no shootings. Just like there weren’t last weekend and every freakin’ weekend before that.

Now, let’s see how many people get shot this weekend in Chicago.

  • Ruth

I remember they said the same thing about Texas when they passed conceal carry. People would be shooting each other over the slightest thing. It wouldn’t be safe because you could get in the crossfire of people getting the drop on each other. Ha, what a bunch of pearl clutchers (and that was the guys).

I once debated capital punishment with a guy who claimed it didn’t work. I gave him the numbers on how often it is actually used, compared to how often other forms of punishment are used.

Point being, if the seldom used capital punishment isn’t working, than jail is a complete failure, for the purpose of reducing murders.

    He did not respond.

This is similar. If guns are the problems, why do areas where being in possession of one is likened to being a child molester have such high murder rates?

  • https://www.facebook.com/app_scoped_user_id/1307761147/ Don Meaker

Of course during the ‘Dark Ages’ say 400-800AD, there was perfect gun control. How well did that work?

  • AT

“The wild west,” he says about a State on our Eastern Border that never shared any cultural identity whatsoever with the frontier land.

Maybe if Georgia starts annexing indian reservations, that’ll be a loosely fitting metaphor.

He’s one of the “intellectual” class, the South, the non-coastal West, have big blank spaces marked “Here be Dragons.”

  • Exodus2011

    uh Larry, you ole codger!

the homicide rate in America would be about 1/4 of what it is now, if we returned to the so-called WILD WEST days when the majority of Americans took responsibility/control for/of their OWN SECURITY and that of their family!

This is precisely the doom-and-gloom predictions that the gun-grabbers claimed when Tennessee passed its “guns in bars” law about three years ago. “Guns and alcohol don’t mix!!! People will get drunk and shoot up the bar!!! Ohs noes! We’re all gonna die!”

To date, not one single person legally carrying in a bar has discharged his weapon in Tennessee since that law was passed.

  • BAW

This is great. Given that Democrats generally realize that “gun control” is not a winning political issue for them and are staying away from it. Given that Bloomberg is the only one so ideologically driven that he’ll push it anyway.

States extending gun rights bring out all the extreme anti-gun loons and keeps the issue front and center. I want Larry King, Piers Morgan, and the rest of them to keep saying stupid stuff and keep branding Democrats as the idiots we know so well.

  • porgiefirefighter

Who thinks that criminals are now flocking to Georgia? No one with a brain. And if Piers Morgan stays away, that is an additional benefit.

  • Scott Carroll
