Earlier today, Reince Priebus wrote a letter to Ebony’s editor in chief, saying that RNC deputy press secretary Raffi Williams “deserves an apology” after Ebony editor Jamilah Lemieux made assumptions about [Williams’] race” and dismissed “black Republicans and the validity of their opinions in public discourse.”

This afternoon, Ebony.com posted a response:

It concluded with the following:

EBONY acknowledges Senior Editor Jamilah Lemieux’s lack of judgment on her personal Twitter account and apologizes to Raffi Williams and the Black Republican community.

Netroots Nation’s Elon James is pissed off again, of course:

As are Lemieux’s other supporters:

https://twitter.com/KolaBoof/status/449616125806919680

But Williams graciously accepted the apology:

And other conservatives are applauding Ebony’s move:

Kudos, Ebony.

So basically, these people think, “shut up whitey even though you’re not white, but I think you are, so shut up whitey and sit down” is all good. Well, at least they admit that revenge, and not equality, is truly their goal.

Sometimes, when I see someone else that may have mis-understood anothers post, I’ll stick my big nose in and try to point out that they’re on the same side (it’s a curse, large family). Often enough, it works and we don’t end up fighting each other. Sometimes, I’ll get told to butt-out, and that’s okay cause’ it’s not my business anyway beyond the presumption that the team should be focusing their energies on the opposition and not each other.
From reading your posts, I know you don’t need my help defending yourself and hope you’ll chalk this up to a bad case of OCD (or something).

That one gave it away, Raffi isn’t “black” because he’s not a democrat. That kind of ignorance is why blacks get nothing from the democrats except a pat on the head and their neighborhood’s continue to burn.

That idiot White still thinks the GOP changed the voting right’s act, when it was the SCOTUS, and doesn’t even understand what the change was,… that states don’t have to presubmit changes to their election procedures to DC for “approval”, how many decades does White think they have to punish the south?

Liberal white and black wallow in the mud ignorant racism like his, well he’s fine with that.

The good thing, the radical black stooges that are the Klan’s counterparts have fully outed themselves as the low rent bigots they are, forever hating, forever outraged they don’t get a pass from everyone for their own racism.

I agree. It’s really sad that the people don’t see the liberal agenda as a power grab from all not just the blacks. “The government knows better, and should protect you from yourself, and others”, buying their votes and dependence, while, padding their own pockets, The liberal mind is spoon fed from kindergarten and Magazines such as Ebony. Ebony only is apologizing cause as any magazine it has to make money. It’s philosophy is that of liberal mind set, failing it’s people. all these years and it hasn’t been bright enough to realize the damage it’s done to it’s own people, Typical LIBERAL MEDIA

The THINKING, STUDYING history, DEBATING and CHOOSING to RESEARCH what you stand for instead of eating pablum from the liberal trough would be work.

A liberal couldn’t handle that responsibility. If it feels good do it ,be it. it’s alright, In the face of art to RAP they can glorify abusing women, gangs, drugs, living off the dole, stay in the inner cities of hell (PLANTATION) crying you owe us.
We are not responsible, for lack of black men that are working and taking care of their children, unmarried women that keep having babies, don’t work but, don’t teach their children anything. Prisons filled with black men who have committed crimes.Uneducated blacks who refuse to finish school. It’s not our fault they whine.
The song rings YOU rich owe us, big business owes us, and the government owes us,
Ebony fails to address these issues. They fail to show how much has been spent on poverty, Since the 1960’s welfare, food stamps, child care help, preschool, Head Start utility help, BROC, free phones, HUD housing, buildings built for them and destroyed by them, healthcare, dentalcare, free breakfasts, lunches, after-school programs, summer food for kids, WIC, sports, ability for them to get into a college or training over anyone that is brighter, or of a different color, College financial aid, the list goes on. with government programs , not to mention all the charitable giving of Americans and the church going. Obviously the government and the Blacks have failed this 60 years experiement!
I believe the poor need a help up but not permanent help!
Lack of SELF responsibility, generational welfare, free money with no work attached, Moral decline in the family, and, Lack of education has destroyed the MINDS of many in American population in this country, This combination has placed the blacks and others in slavery , BOUGHT and Owned by the Democratic Party, PAID for buy the American tax payers. This is not unlike what happened with the Native Americans.
Sad that they aren’t educated enough to have figured it out. but the school systems have been run into the ground by liberals also… Dumb them down, expound on libralism and they are easier to mold! If you can’t speak English, can’t dress respectfully, take out the piercings, ditch the tacky fake nails and get trained to do something useful how, are you hire-able, and why in hell would we want to pay you $15.00 and hour. WHAT IS THE TRUTH ? The democrats politicians got it made and never will be honest with their true agenda.

      • Joseph O Morrow

If reference is being made here to First-Amendment freedom of speech, then we urgently need to go back to speech 101 as lived and breathed by such as Thomas Jefferson. He knew how to speak freely and how to be freely spoken to and about. He knew that lying and slander are NOT free speech at all because those can make their objects slaves to the misconceptions of others. Thomas Jefferson severely opposed such misuse of speech, whether it was about himself or others. If this were not the case, why would we have laws allowing one today to sue concerning deformation of character? Not all words uttered out of a mouth or placed into print are free speech or free press! If one is not free enough to be truthful and honest, then that one is not free himself, so can how can such a one actually speak freely?

This also applies to freedom of religion. If one is not free to exercise what is resident is his own innards regardless of outside pressure, that is not freedom of religion. To have to exercise certain practices, or to refuse to practice others, or die at the hands of ones fellows, is not freedom on any level.

Is it as shocking now to understand the weakness of human nature and the utter hopelessness of the many to be able to stand up for their own personal standards because of weakness against group pressure? Our national founders were much better at overcoming these weaknesses than the vast majority are today. Sure our republic is in terrible need of restoration. Our Constitution needs our respect again. But without the individual inner strength and fortitude our founders had regardless of outer pressure, these other concerns will continue to be a hopeless nightmare!

        • Summerwarmth

I disagree. While I may totally disagree with White’s points, I don’t believe he was intentionally slandering anyone or telling what he believed to be lies. He has the full right to speak his mind though he should expect feedback for it.
Just a side note: Your argument does not appear to be consistent across your different paragraphs.

          • Joseph O Morrow

OK. Please point out the specific inconsistencies. I stated specifics as to the background behind the redefining of words and concepts that led to such widespread acceptance of our current lie/slander culture.

Just about every word and meaning in our Bill of Rights has been twisted today. Not only do I point out the wrongs, I point toward practical solutions.

But obviously it’s a rare person who takes any time out of arguing and preparing for future arguments to buckle down to real personal solutions that can transform any individual from being part of the problem to becoming part of the solution.

And, anyone who “unintentionally” slanders ought to go far from civilization, perhaps live in a cave somewhere for a week or two, and reassess his whole life. Been there, done that, more than once. I’m not talking about becoming a Hollywood primitive cave man. This kind of thorough mental makeover could be what it takes to secure the most awesome and fulfilling future.

So, again: What are my inconsistencies? And be specific . . .

          • Summerwarmth

You asked me to point out inconsistencies and to be specific so here it goes….
1st paragraph: topic freedom of speech

“Not all words uttered out of a mouth or placed into print are free speech or free press!”
In this paragraph you are expounding on how freedom of speech does not encompass all speech and that there are areas of speech that are outside of the realm of freedom of speech. So the gist of it is — it proposes that there is a subset of speech that does not fall under freedom of speech.

2nd paragraph: topic freedom of religion

“This also applies to freedom of religion. If one is not free to exercise what is resident is his own innards regardless of outside pressure, that is not freedom of religion.”
In this paragraph you attempt to extend this to freedom of religion however the example provided does not extend the thought of the first paragraph because if it did it would be something like how not all religious acts are part of religious freedom. i.e. that there are subsets of religion that do not fall under freedom of religion. Instead you talk about how if one is not free to exercise ones freedom due to outside pressure then that is not freedom of religion.
To apply that to the freedom of speech in the 1st paragraph that would be how if one is not free to exercise ones freedom due to outside pressure that is not freedom of speech.
Thus the examples and thoughts you are proposing in paragraphs one and two do not parallel each other and thus paragraph two should not have started with “this also applies to freedom of religion” when it was two separate ideas and thoughts.

3rd paragraph: “utter hopelessness of the many to be able to stand up for their own personal standards because of weakness against group pressure?” Then discusses founding fathers and inner strength and fortitude.

This 3rd paragraph while a nice read does not connect to the thoughts expressed in the first two paragraphs. (edited: upon further reading this may relate back to paragraph two regarding pressure but not paragraph one).

Basically, I am saying your ideas do not flow. Individually each paragraph makes a statement but together the concepts do not directly (or even indirectly) connect as a continuing example.

You are more than welcome to disagree with me and get all defensive again with point this out and be specific….

You make some good points but they are buried in a lot of back wash. Frankly, it reads like blah blah blah unless I break it apart and focus on the individual sections.

          • Summerwarmth

my apologies to everyone else for being a discussion flow pfffft. Joseph asked for specifics and I tried to provide them. I did not want him thinking I was just being flip when I said there were inconsistencies.
Normally, I would not bother replying except in this case I thought Joseph was sincere in asking and I thought he made some good points that were just hidden in the verbiage.

          • Joseph O Morrow

Excuse me. Now you’re reminding me of those who apologize either for being white or for being a black conservative!

You indeed added to the discussion flow. The preponderance of material here is discussion worth having. So many are allowing themselves to be bullied by those who just cannot be disagreed with but actually have nothing to add to our country but only other people’s stuff to give away to those who don’t appreciate it and will either waste or misuse it (I won’t apologize for my run-on sentence).

Continue to add to discussions. Keep pointing out seeming inconsistencies because self-contradictory comments abound out here. It’s great being honestly confronted instead of receiving mindless assent and profane emotionalized reactions, both so prevalent on the social media.

Thanks again for your input. I hope to see more of it.

          • Joseph O Morrow

            Thank you for your feedback.

Instead of proving me “inconsistent”, you proved me to be understandable. I respect the ability of my fellow adults to be able to understand without being spoon fed every possible data byte of info. Concerning freedom of speech/religion, I picked out what to me are the less-obvious is each category expecting intelligent uncritical folks like yourself to fill in the missing details, which you’ve just proved your ability to do.

The 3rd paragraph goes on from info into giving a solution-pointer. This you obviously have not grasped. Only those who love being informed more than arguing would see the connection. The first two paragraphs TOUCH UPON a FEW specific recognizable symptoms of human nature in general. The 3rd prods the true seeker-of-truth in the direction of a tried and tested solution which may be summed up: Return to your proven roots. Don’t just know the words of your Constitution. Grab insight, also, into the lives and character of its framers, who had much more practical wisdom concerning human nature than have the vast majority, especially among the scholars, today.

You did not get the memo. Follow the logic to define black.

      (1) Bill Clinton is the 1st black president.
      (2) Reverend Jesse Jackson wanted to cut Obama’s nxxs, because he did not bow in his alter. If you don’t bow at the alter then you are not black.
      (3) The council of NAACP is the sole arbitrator on who blacks are
      (4) OJ & Muma are not killers. Any opinion contrary to that fact will brand you as white

That’s not even an apology. He clearly blames Raffi Williams when he says that Raffi tried to start discourse. It also ignores the manner in which she “misidentified” him as white.

  • Jimni27

” …Raffi Williams is NOT “Black”. And this delusion by Black Americans is part of how they keep U on bottom. He not our race.” <—– Wow. Just wow.

  • http://LoveBreedsAccountability.com/ Hank Rand ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

    Shorter @EbonyMag: #IStandWithJamilah.

This apology effectively amounts to regret that Jamilah wasn’t more tolerant of other black ideas. 70 years later, and that’s still the standard? The NAACP has evolved and so too should Ebony.

By the standards of this apology, Jamilah should actually be forgiven entirely and no apology should have been issued. It’s noted that she mistakenly thought Raffi was white. If that’s the case, are we too discern that her lack of judgment was only in not confirming that those with whom she shares in the “open exchange of ideas” are in fact black?

There was a clear element of bigotry – the kind that says, “If you’re not a Democrat, you’re not black…and if you’re not black, I don’t care what you have to say.” It’s unacceptable and the apology while certainly a step in the right direction, entirely ignores the crux of Jamilah’s misjudgement – a trend emerging consistently across the left that further enables division, bigotry, and intolerance of diversity in thought.

  • Eric

The apology itself is only to Williams and the black community. It says nothing about the whites. Jamilah explicitly dismissed Raffi because she thought he was white. She expressly said that anyone with white skin didn’t have any points, principles, or ideas that she would consider in any way. Because it’s just so cool to dismiss someone’s thoughts and arguments simply because of their skin color . . .

    • NavyGal

Of course, everyone knows that black people can’t be racist. True urban myth that.

I can just imagine the screaming, yelling and other hissy fits if there was a magazine called Ivory, excusively for those of the pale colors.

Are they issuing an apology because it was a racist comment or because they insulted a black man? No wonder I never subscribed to this magazine.

    • Eric

They only apologized to Williams and the black community. I didn’t read anything there that said they were sorry to the whites who Lemieux dismissed off-hand for no reason other than their skin color.

      • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Well, they figure white folks aren’t reading Ebony anyway, so why bother? For whatever reason, it is almost as if the idea is that whites wouldn’t be interested in anything they’d have to say any more than Ms Lemieux is interested in what whites have to say.

        • pjcostello

The difference is that whites do not DISMISS out of hand what Ebony, for example, might say — simply because “it’s black”. Which is the opposite of what that racist Jamilah did.

          • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Somehow, whites are to be scorned for their “lack of cultural sensitivity,” but if a white person were to want to make an honest effort to REALLY understand the black subculture in ALL its manifestations (and not just some served up by people with a particular agenda) it’s like, “Butt out whitey, ain’t YOUR thang, so leave us be.” That’s what you’d get, if you went by Jamilah Lemieux’s way of dealing with it. Self-defeating self-fulfilling prophecy is strong in JL’s life.

    • mrspinky85

They made a statement to cover themselves as a business. As soon as I saw she was an Ebony employee I knew they would make a statement. She didn’t think of this when she was typing because she thought what she said is okay.

Does Ebony employ people of other ethnicity? White people? If this is the general attitude of its black employees, how terribly uncomfortable it must be to work there for non-blacks.

        • mrspinky85

“NO @EBONYmag …Raffi Williams is NOT “Black”. And this delusion by Black Americans is part of how they keep U on bottom. He not our race.”

NO, what keeps us down is insisting that someone can’t be “black enough.” I’m as dark as the night, yet somehow, I’m “not black” enough. Historically, black Americans have been sweepingly conservative. But I guess those folks weren’t black enough. The first Black American senator was a Republican, but, alas, he probably wasn’t Black enough. As a matter of fact, let’s just pretend that the majority of black people before democrats screwed everything up in the 60s and 70s weren’t black enough.

How the hell can you not consider such a sentiment racist?

    • mrspinky85

This I would up vote a million times. I agree.

    • LivingRedInABlueState

What does being “Black enough” mean? Since when did it cease to be a race/color and become a set of attitudes, political belief and behavior?

instead of offering the usual schadenfreude, I offered advice for Elon James White, but in return I get mocked and made fun of. Instead of retaliating, I hit them with knowledge beyond their current understanding. If anyone knows about planting seeds of hate, watering them, feeling them grow inside… it’s me, but I also know about letting go and remembering God’s not dead, instead God’s in charge! That much hate coming from someone isn’t good and won’t end well, but God bless Elon White. Hopefully his journey will end better than his current path.

    • Frogmouth

  • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

“Either Raffi Williams, by refusing to toe the Jamilah Lemieux line, is not ‘black enough,’ hence a liability to the race, and must be shunned– OR, the GOP is using an internecine intramural black thang for their own nefarious purposes by siding with Raffi and saying ‘why can’t y’all just get along?’, and so we must shun Raffi for THAT reason. Take your pick– either one works. Black folks gotta stick together, and white folks and Oreos can’t tell us who’s black and who ought to do the sticking together. Ebony caved, by not sticking with Jamilah.”

And there you have the debate, in its essence.

  • http://youhavetobethistalltogoonthisride.blogspot.com/ keyboard jockey

I understand why they are upset. An “apology” to them is akin to their opponent’s taking coup – they see it as one of their own getting metaphorically scalped. What their twitter rants are revealing is simply tribal culture.

This is their sport making white’s apologize. It’s clear why they are so upset.
Raffi Williams exposed them, and he forced them to apologize to a dreaded member of the republican party.

          http://nbra.info/FrequentlyAskedQuestions#The__Dixiecrats__Remained_Democrats
“The so-called “Dixiecrats” remained Democrats and did not migrate to the Republican Party. The Dixiecrats were a group of Southern Democrats who, in the 1948 national election, formed a third party, the State’s Rights Democratic Party with the slogan: “Segregation Forever!” Even so, they continued to be Democrats for all local and state elections, as well as for all future national elections.”

  • mrspinky85

I think this discussion needs to happen. I don’t think it is just about black vs white but it includes political beliefs ans biracial attitudes. My nephews are mixed race so do they have to pick a side. My son isn’t mixed but does he deserve special treatment.
We are getting the finger from Russia and our other enemies are watching. I wish Americans could get it together. It shouldn’t take something like 9/11 to bring us together. This nonsense has got to stop. This could’ve been a learning opportunity for everyone.

    • Ghee!

You have to admit, as I think most everyone here would, that the worst thing that has happened to our country is Barack Obama. I have zero issues with his skin color, it’s his ideology that has so divided us. Imagine how strong we would have been as a united country with someone like Allen West or Ben Carson. Those guys are true patriots and unifiers. The black community wants ownership of Obama because he is black and he is our president and screw you if you say anything bad about him. They want his position so badly that they ignore all the wrong he has done. They are blind to his divisiveness and willfully ignorant of his long term goals. He is hurting them more than they could ever imagine.

      • Ghee!

Coincidentally, I am sure they would hypocritically have embraced West or Carson, etc. were they our presidents. Because, black.

        • Stephen L. Hall #NonquamTrump

I don’t think they would. They are committed leftists disguised as race commentators. They view the average black voters as just another group of socialist warriors. That is why they are so upset at scabs/defectors/traitors etc.

          • Ghee!

You may be right, we’ll never know. But, just look at how they came out of the woodwork for the elections because of skin color. They were open about it. “I voted for him because he is black”, we heard that same refrain repeated on the news nightly. Obama brought out the dependents too, who can forget the “obamaphone” video during the election season of ’12?

          • Stephen L. Hall #NonquamTrump

Some of the black “moderate” republicans like Colin Powell, but I don’t think if Allen Keyes or Herman Cain had been the Republican nominee you’d have seen the reverse.

          • Ghee!

Of course, what would I know? I’m just a racist white conservative anyway. I should probably just shutup and go back to hating.

          • Stephen L. Hall #NonquamTrump

You say that . . . but I don’t think they would get the joke. Liberals have no sense of humour.

        • nc ✓s & balances

It’s almost like he does it on purpose. I don’t like to think that about anyone, but how else can you explain the things he says?

          • mrspinky85

I don’t know if it is malicious. Some people think they are doing good or the end justifies the means. Most don’t see what they’ve done until it’s to late.

          • nc ✓s & balances

If that’s true, then he is incredibly un-self aware.

    • nc ✓s & balances

Hmm, “pick a side?” Not sure what you mean by that. My son is mixed and he could “pick” white like me or his dad (he’s adopted), but it doesn’t change his appearance. What’s wrong with being mixed? FTR, except for a handful of comments from stupid people over the years, it’s never been an issue.

      • QueenB

I don’t think mrspinky was saying he should have to “pick a side”. I think she mistakenly put a period instead of a question mark and from what I read, I think she thinks its ridiculous that anyone would think her nephews should have to “pick a side”. As you said, how exactly do you do that in the first place?

        • nc ✓s & balances

Thanks for trying, Me1976, but that didn’t clear it up for me. I adore mrspinky, so I’m sure I either misunderstood her, or perhaps she will respond with an explanation that makes sense.

          • QueenB

Seriously. Put question marks at the end of sentences 3 and 4 and it makes much more sense. And of course, I am basing this on mrspinky’s previous posts.

      • H50 ✓RAT

This is how I read it nc, this is a discussion that needs to happen that is greater than black or white, how do we do it tho? Do mixed race folks have to pick a side? Do pure minorities opinions count more.
We are tearing our country apart with these silly race divisions.
        And so on.
My opinion; We need to air it out and get over it to move forward. It seems tho any time anyone makes an honest effort to try, they get fried up and served, so nothing will ever change.

        • nc ✓s & balances

Hana, that was my question in the first place. Don’t we form our opinions according to our beliefs and standards, not what some “side” or another tells us to, unless we’re mindless robots (or LIVs). Of course, we are influenced by our upbringing, our “culture” and other environmental factors, but we are still INDIVIDUALS who have minds, capable of free thought. This is a precious gift that God gave each of us.

          • H50 ✓RAT

I agree, the moment you start giving priority to One opinion over another for arbitrary nonsense, you invalidate the discussion IMHO.
God gave us all free will, some just chose not to use it, for whatever reason. Until folks start thinking of and speaking out for themselves and not a collective/demographic of any sort, nothings gonna change. Part of thinking for ones self is respecting another opinion even if you think its batshit crazy or totally wrong.
It is hard not to get emotional over emotional subjects tho. Been there, done that, still working on it. Diss my state or culture and I get a little wiggy too.

  • http://bobtheump.com/ BobTheUmp

Stunning how those who have benefitted from the trail blazing a publication like Ebony has done can’t learn fro the trailblazers themselves. No, they would rather call the authentic civil rights warrior s sellouts and wrap themselves in the ignorance of hatred. Signs of the apocalypse.

As a black woman, you know, the demographic targeted by Ebony I will never purchase one of their magazines. Also, the comments made about Jamilah- calling her all types of racial slurs, insulting her appearance and threatening her over a mistake deter me from ever again considering the GOP. I have voted conservative before and I cannot see myself voting for the party again. As a young, black, moderate, thinking person I find it frustrating that I cannot find a party that gets it right. The GOP dragged this woman over a tweet. You are not helping your party with this petty frivolous mess, you are hurting it. Maybe strengthening your already out of touch base but gaining open minded people like myself you are not. Again, very disappointing.

I would hope not, and that her questioning is sincere– but you have to say that were she actually a concern troll, she couldn’t have come up with anything different from what she did, by the tone at any rate. Sadly, some people, of all different races/creeds/whatever, take to the comment sections and don’t give much thought to the fact that a high dudgeon is gonna get slapped around, and fail to make their point in a way that avoids skepticism as to its validity. If Ms Kiwi IS sincere (and her timeline would seem to indicate otherwise), I’d say, work on the presentation a little.

Not so much an admonition to HER specifically as to others who, while sick unto death of the BS they hear from one side, so they say, tell the other side that IT isn’t any better and that it had better shape up, too. That’s as weird-ass of concern trolling as you’re gonna get. If I had a problem with people with whom I might find common ground but something about them puts me off, I’d say flat-out, with no attitude, “Y’know, here’s the problem I have with what you’re saying…” I wouldn’t attempt to say “Why are you trying to run people like me off?” as if the posters owed me something.

Here’s the thing….most of us on Twitchy are not GOP. In fact we trying to get rid of the GOP establishment. Please do not use what the mainstream media labels Twitchy as fact, since the mainstream media has consistently been proven to fabricate the truth about conservatives.

          • Kiwi

Well I apologize for using a term most of you do not identify with. This is maybe my second time visiting this site. What is your agenda/objective here?

          • http://www.freedomreconnection.com/ FreedomRecon

No problem. We are glad to have you and any honest debate here. My objective is truth and honesty…also snark (just naturally a smarta**) but always in fun. Most of us are conservative, period. We are all Americans. We do not define ourselves by gender or race. I did not intend to get in a pi**ing match with you up there in the thread, I just dislike hypocrisy, and I call anyone out on it….please feel free to do the same with me if you see it. :)

          • Kiwi

Well thank you for explaining the environment here, have a good weekend.

    • StateofFranklin

Kiwi, while I appreciate your stance, I would ask…how do you pick a side after this aired laundry. You state that GOP dragged her over a tweet, but she clearly dismissed the man because she thought he was a “white dude”. Ebony Magazine still never addressed that.

It’s either…go with the side who stood up for someone who was illegitimately discriminated against, and some, non-officials, maybe went too far in their protest…

      OR…

go with the side who illegitimately discriminated, and can’t seem to step back from it. Clearly, the only thing that will make the black community (Elon J. White, etc…) happy is if Ebony stands behind JL’s dismissal of “the white dude”, which is CLEARLY racism. Basically, in a nutshell, the black community is saying RACISM IS WHAT THEY WANT.

How do you justify that stance? How does that leave you anti-stand up for what you believe in? And where do you go from here….stand right in the middle and wait for another 3rd party to break away?

      • StateofFranklin

And, I’d like to clarify…It’s the FACT that she dismissed him because of what she thought his color/gender was, not that it was an accident.

In a world where the words “race-baiting”, “racism” and “misogyny” are thrown around so regularly, you never hear the word misandry. I would argue that misandry is more prevalent than misogyny, just as I would racism goes both ways.

It’s even ok to blast someone as a “cis white male”. So being a normal, white guy who identifies with a normal sexuality is now wrong and should be discriminated against.

      • Kiwi

Yes. Lol. It’s futile however I can’t be a part of a party who operates like this. Dismissing someone’s opinion on blackness because they are another race is okay. I would expect a white man to not want hear my views on how he should feel about his whiteness. I find this to be acceptable. As long as it’s not coming from a place of hate. There’s a difference between dismissing opinion and denying employment/service.

        • QueenB

Yea, cuz telling whitey to sit down and shut up comes from a place of love. Honestly, a white person told you to sit down and shut up, would you accept that because whitey there thinks it a subject you know nothing about? Yea right….you are just talking right out your butt with that stuff.

          • Kiwi

How would I be able to tell a wide receiver how to run his route when I’ve never played football? I may have an opinion on the overall game, yes however I can’t tell him that he ran the route wrong. He would be well within his right to dismiss me.

        • StateofFranklin

On that point Kiwi, I absolutely must disagree. Dismissing the opinion of someone, regardless of topic, is absolutely coming from a place of hate.

I’ll be clear…I’m neither black, nor female…however, I live in a state that where the majority is black, a city of the same. I also work in an organization in which the majority is black and my two most immediate supervisors are black females and one of my subordinates is also. It does not change how I act or where I go, despite the city being highly ranked in the national rankings in violent crime. Maybe I do have some valid opinion on the topic, so maybe we shouldn’t casually dismiss the opinion of others. I discuss race with my supervisors and subordinates alike.

Do you know why / how I can do this? Because they can see that there is no hate. I would love to discuss your views on my manhood and my whiteness, just as though I would welcome open dialogue with you on your views about womanhood and blackness. If we can’t have honest, open dialogue, the hate will continue and this issue will never be resolved.

Allowing / supporting single race, single ethnicity media/publications/thought/actions/etc… without supporting all of them equally will only result in distortion and hate. For this reason, these establishments, like Ebony magazine, BET, etc…should be labeled racist and shut down. They continue to perpetuate the problem.

          • Kiwi

But see, that is because they know you and they feel as though you come from a good place. The same way that I have welcomed convos on race from white men I trust. But he was a stranger. I get why you’re offended I just cannot get with the level of backlash.

          • StateofFranklin

The backlash is because it’s an online world in which people have so little accountability.

Certainly, you can understand that…in this day and age where accountability has basically been thrown out the window any-damned-way. That’s why our government and the left have felt so strongly about providing for the people. No one, including themselves, holds them accountable for their own actions.

        • StateofFranklin

I also missed addressing your point on denying employment/service. I am in the business of interviewing and making calls on hiring. I once had an interview board where the only applicants chosen for the interview were all black females. The panel, despite my best intentions, ended up being an all white panel. Lo and behold, we hired a black female, but that didn’t stop another black female from calling our panel racist because she felt it was a race related denial of employment. That one didn’t go very far.

Race related denial of employment is very highly unlikely in today’s business world. The efforts put into it over the last 40 years has changed it dramatically, so much to the point that it is moot now, but people refuse to let go of their “out”.

        • carmenta

But…but…but…Raffi Williams is as black as dear leader? How is dismissing his opinion on blackness okay?

          • Kiwi

She doesn’t want to hear the opinion of conservatives, black or white. She is well within her right. You all don’t want to hear my opinion. Same thing

EBONY Magazine Staffer Jamilah Lemieux racially attacks RNC Raffi Williams – “Here Comes A White Dude” via Twitter

          Kiwi • a day ago

White people have never liked black people. Ever. Don’t piss on me and tell me it’s raining I’m not stupid. You don’t like us now and you never have.

          • Ms. Abigail van Beagle

I would love to know how she knows that white people don’t like black people. For starters, it’s not true. I like people who are nice to me, and I have yet to meet a black person who wasn’t nice to me. It’s not related to race-it’s the individual person. I’ve had black boyfriends, co-workers & friends, I’ve got some Jamaican inlaws in the family, and there is NO racial tension among any of us.

So, Kiwi-feel free to tell us how you “know” white people hate black people. Do you get spit on? Are you excluded from whites-only schools, stores, employers? Do white people cross the street to avoid you? If people are avoiding you, it is not be related to your skin color. Oh, and don’t forget all those evil white republicans who fought for the release of the slaves and fought for civil rights because they KNEW that discrimination is wrong.

          • Kiwi

I too have people that I love of other races. I said never- implying in the past. I’m talking about on a large scale. Please go look at the context of my comment. Of course we love the people we know! Also, knowing my history and the history of the Republican Party is what caused me to be interested in the first place.

        • QueenB

          Don’t forget “tolerant”.

        • http://www.freedomreconnection.com/ FreedomRecon

That’s the nice way to put it. I was thinking more along the lines of “she’s full of sh**”. But we’ll go with what you said. :)

          • H50 ✓RAT

            :)

      • Kiwi

I see you want to take my comment out of context and that’s unfortunate. I asked a man why he hated black people. He said he hates what they have become. I found this interesting considering in the history of this country race relations have always been horrific. If you hate us now then I guess that was love when you enslaved, beat, lynched, spat on and berated us. I didn’t want to bring this up because that horse is dead but this is the truth of the matter. Blacks and whites have never had a hunky dory kumbyah (sp?) relationship. There has always been racial tension at the national level. We may love our friends and coworkers of other races but on a large scale we don’t get along.

        • http://www.freedomreconnection.com/ FreedomRecon

“when you enslaved, beat, lynched, spat on and berated us.”

I’m very sorry that you were “enslaved, beat, lynched, spat on and berated”. Very glad you survived, especially the lynching….nasty thing to recover from. That is never okay no matter anyone’s race. I hope the offenders were prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I did post your entire comment and the article you were commenting on down lower for more context.

I’m not defending anything here. Slavery was wrong, both the blacks in Africa who enslaved blacks that the Europeans bought them from, and the Europeans who kept them as slaves and brought them to America. My point was that you are not very open minded if you say that “white people never liked black people”.

          • Nahalban

Yeah because black people were the “only” slaves in America.

Again, as a collective. Race relations have never been peachy keen in this country. I hate that you can’t admit this or don’t understand this. It really is okay. I understand you were alive at the time, maybe, that doesn’t change that they have always been horrible. Also, my life as a black woman is wonderful but I cannot forget or ignore why I am able to live the way you do. You so wonderfully dismiss the fact that black people have always been treated like garbage in the country. I confront it and accept it.

            Your logic is horrific.
Also, the whole ‘black people sold each other’ thing is a myth. I suggest you educate yourself.

I said MY life was wonderful. I said nothing about yours or your ethnicity. Also, a wiki link? Really.

          • Kiwi

Look. You and the other commenters here want to act like history has absolutely nothing to do with the present and that is unfortunate. You all are choosing to live in la la land and act like because you weren’t alive in 1912, what happened in 1912 does not matter. It’s why we teach and study history. Because it does matter. You all have the most elementary understanding of race that I have encountered in my adult years. Also, I am not carrying any burden. My life is wonderful as stated. My other statement was regarding African selling slaves.

          • Kiwi

Also, why didn’t you pick any other comments I made? The comment similar to the one I wrote above? Or maybe the comments to the hate speech I made? I guess they weren’t significant to your point so omitted them. Typical.

          • http://www.freedomreconnection.com/ FreedomRecon

I chose that comment in it’s entirety because it was your words directly contradicting your words. Plain and simple.

The thing about racism is it tends to bring out the racists. Whats good for the goose is good for the gander and all of that.
Ive been following this kind of closely, and I have to say that the overall/overwhelming display of racism has come from Jamilah and her supporters.
Not really sure how youre coming to your conclusion, unless you think people calling out others for their perceived racism is in its self racist.

The answer to bad speech is more speech IMHO.

      • Kiwi

If you look at the comments I replied to yesterday they were vile and ugly. I left a comment here with some of the name they were using and it disappeared.

        • H50 ✓RAT

To which comments you made yesterday are you referring to?
I looked at your discqus comments that you posted yesterday, dont have the luxury of seeing what you posted to, and Im not going to waste my time hunting down posts on unfamiliar sites.

But I will note if your postings were for the purpose of getting down in the racist gutter with racists that were directing racist remarks at you, congrats. You are a master.

          • Kiwi

Really? I’m a master for calling people out on their BS? For asking why they hate her hair and her thighs?!! asking why they hated black people? For wonder why they were writing dissertations about blacks having lower IQs??!!!!!! You are delusional if I’m in the gutter. Miss me with all of that. You don’t get it. Not my job to go searching other websites to try and ascertain what point youre trying to make?

Your right I dont get you. Ill never know if your point is valid because you wont make the effort to prove its valid.
If thats dismissive, oh well. If you dont care enough to make the effort, why should I.

          • Kiwi

It’s not your job but you all are the ones concerned about my posting history- going back to look at my comments as if they are different from anything I’ve said here today. You want to ‘expose’ somebody so bad because it’s impossible for you to believe I am who I say I am. Yea it’s not your job then don’t do it! Don’t make it your job! Don’t try and use my comments out of context! Don’t search my history. I explained my comment above in detail for those concerned about it.

          • H50 ✓RAT

I merely looked at your disquis history dear. You really over inflated your importance. Put on your big girl panties and explain your self or dont, Its no skin off my nose either way. You are a stranger on a MB, and a whiny one at that.
Ive gone from having a passing interest in what you had to say, to no interest what so ever and thats your doing.

          • Kiwi

Did you not see that the comment I made with examples conveniently disappeared?

I’m whiny? Over inflated sense of importance? Of course! I’m a millennial and black :-p

    • Electradivine

      Kiwi, good post

I diasagree with your assessment of jamilah, she was wrong on all fronts and should have apologized in a more appropriate fashion to Juan Williams son

However I agree with you on the GOP and conservatives latching on to this twitter war to make this some political statement when they are still very much reluctant to call on the subliminal borderline racist remarks that come from their side…. From calling Michelle Obama a wookie( a character from Star Wars that looks like a ape) to saying Obama couldn’t shine former presidents shoes. To all the code words they play stupid about. But I say don’t ignore the moderate right as some of them have some good ideas for the country, I only hope over time they have the spine to call out those on their own side

      • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

You libs latch on to EVERYTHING. Like the Todd Akin thing, one idiot made a stupid remarks and you morons on the left used it for attacks on Republicans. You’ve never once spoken out against liberals calling black conservatives Uncle Toms.

        • Electradivine

Again with the lib stuff, I’m not like you I don’t pick a gang to join, like most Americans , we sit in the middle and decide which gang we like to be in power for a few years … You guys are butt hurt right now because most Americans didn’t like the “product” your gang was selling, maybe it will be different in a few years, but I doubt it , because your gang continues to just keep alienating more folks

          • Ms. Abigail van Beagle

Your gang keeps doing everything they can to keep races divided. I’ve learned from the liberals that there are 2 kinds of white people. Racists and those who call other people racist. I’m fortunate that my dealings with real people in my everyday real life aren’t laced with the racial animosity perpetrated by liberals such as this woman. Maybe we should just stop saying “liberals” and say what we mean: “Racists”.
Did you read any of the racist rantings above? “Raffi is NOT black!” Well, what difference does color make? Obama’s roughly half and he’s held out to be some kind of mascot of blackness.
This woman doesn’t want to have anything to do with Raffi because she thinks he’s white? And unlike the “subliminal racism” (read: non-existant) you supposedly get from white people, she came right out and said it!
Flip it around and imagine a white person saying “I don’t want to hear anything you say because your picture shows that you’re black!”

          • spaceycakes

rubbish; of course you pick a gang.

          • mike_in_kosovo

I don’t pick a gang to join, like most Americans , we sit in the middle

Oh, puh-leeze… talk about pissing on someone’s leg and telling them it’s raining!

      • Kiwi

Thank you. I can even get with you disagreeing about jamilah’s actions. Because really, I get it.

      • blockthiscnn

I firmly believe most of the “wookie” and other derogatory references to the First Lady come from those looking to harm conservatives. In my internet life AND my personal life I’m not afraid to go toe to toe with people spewing that garbage. You can search my comment history.

    • Jake Bradford

You aren’t fooling anyone. You also seem not to get what Twitter is about. If you don’t want to be “dragged over a tweet” you don’t tweet a bunch of dismissive, racist garbage that shows everyone exactly what you are.
The problem is, liberals have been ignoring blacks using anti-white language…and even encouraging it (see Salon and MSNBC) for far too long. The division it’s creating is damaging the country as a whole.

    • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

The left has dragged people’s names through the mud for little to no reason in the past. This woman from Ebony showed her racism for white people and her hatred of any black people who oppose her worldview. If you think what she did is okay, then you’re an idiot.

    • GaryUSMCvet.

Really! That woman was as wrong as the the day is long. So you’ll punish the entire GOP for the comments of a few? If you could hear the comments made by some liberals when they think no one gives a sh!t or when no blacks are around– you’d be surprised at how condensing and racist they are.

      • Kiwi

I would NOT be surprised. I do not trust liberals as far as I can throw them lol

    • AZGunslinger

You’ve never voted for a Conservative and you never will. You certainly would not vote for a more qualified white candidate over an unqualified black candidate. (Example: Romney vs Obama)

FOR YEARS I have listened to the crap you Jamilah types say about good people like Justice Thomas, Dr Ben Carson, Dr Walter Williams, Dr Thomas Sowell & Dr Condoleezza Rice. You people call them the most vile names and then you get butt hurt and scream racism when a “cracka” politician like Trent Lott says “When Strom Thurmond ran for president, [Mississippi] voted for him.
We’re proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead,
we wouldn’t have had all these problems over the years, either.” That very benign comment cost Lott his job as Senate Majority Leader. At the very least Jamilah “Hate Whitey” Lemieux should be fired.

You’re lying sack of race hustling garbage! Are you sure real your name isn’t Tawana Brawley?

      • Kiwi

I have. I can’t prove it over the internet because it’s the internet but, I have. I welcome #diversityofthought lol. Also, I have seen the attack on black conservatives. I have experienced it from my peers. I love Condolezza Rice. I thinks she’s fabulous. I also support Ben Carson in his views. I would read the paper they were discussing. I would not have done what Jamilah did. I do understand why she did it. I am still disgusted with the hateful backlash.

I do not expect you to believe me or understand the perspective of someone like me and that is fine. If you want to believe that black people don’t vote for the GOP because they’re close minded and brainwashed that’s fine.

        • blockthiscnn

It’s obvious many of the people tweeting on here are close minded and brainwashed, and combined with the comments of many prominent black leaders (JJ and AS, for example), it’s not a stretch to say that’s part of the reason they don’t vote GOP.

        • AZGunslinger

“You understand why she did it!?!?”

Just shut your ignorant, filthy, bigoted piehole. You’re defending a racebaiting, vitriolic, New Black Panther party ho.

ONLY 6% of black voters voted for Romney in 2012 and 4% for McCain in 2008. I seriously doubt you or anyone you know voted for either of them.

I think the next time some racist honky lynches an innocent black kid I will use the following argument “I would not have done what they did, bu I understand why the did it.”

    • mike_in_kosovo

Concern troll is so, so concerned!

      • Kiwi

You’re late to the party boo! Somebody already made that comment :-). But you tried.

        • mike_in_kosovo

Doesn’t make it any less accurate for already having been said.

          • Kiwi

            Just less creative.

    • Ken Blair

I’d urge you to consider the folks you speak about the same way I consider the tweets shown in the article. They represent but a small subset of the population. The ‘net allows all sorts of folks to have a voice but doesn’t enforce the old maxim that “children” should be seen and not heard. Don’t throw the concepts of conservatism out the door because of a few unthinking people. Both party’s have folks on the fringe and the anonymity of the ‘net only aids and abets their fringe behavior.

    • carmenta

Kiwi, how exactly is the GOP responsible for for dragging JL? Preibus asked for an apology for her nastiness towards Williams. Williams was gracious throughout the exchange and post-apology. How is the ‘dragging’ anyone? JL was WRONG. Just wrong. Her immediate dismissal on the basis of a tweet coming from someone she believed to be white – regardless of whether there was a conversation to be had about an issue, was WRONG and RACIST.

It would still be racist if the assorted skin colors were reversed – your comments are part of the problem, not part of the solution and you are supporting a mindset that will lead to further division. Well done, I think you get a prize from the DNC /s

  • jkpalmdale

Wow the tweets against Ebony are insane. The libbies are idiots, especially the one who said Republicans gutted the voting rights act LMFAO

    • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

For some reason libs think that only getting to vote once is voter suppression.

      • jkpalmdale

Oh yeah how silly of me, I forgot

  • Den-Cat

Amazing – if the roles were reversed, these same people would be screaming & crying for a crucifixion. Shows their true nature: hypocritical, intolerant & self serving.

Not sure what the meltdown is all about, saying she showed poor judgement on her personal twitter account is not exactly throwing her under the bus.
Unless you are of the belief that blacks should never, ever apologize to whites for anything, ever, no matter what……or something.
Oh wait they didnt apologize to whites, they apologized to a black conservative who was rudely dismissed by one of their senior editors because she thought he was white.

    • nickdqwk

Hey, the voice of reason! ;^)

    • Eric

She wasn’t thrown under the bus, she walked blindly in front of it while screaming at other pedestrians.

  • susan schneider

Wow and these BLACKS say that Whites are Racists. The Tweets from some are way over the Top

    • LegalizeShemp

They paint themselves as perpetual victims, but most of the time, they’re the perps.

    • GaryUSMCvet.

Some blacks are and can be just as racist as others — anyone denying that, is not only a fool, but a lying fool.

  • https://twitter.com/davidjkramer DavidKramer

@elonjames I got your back Elon, how dare anyone say she cannot be racist and post racist comments. High five!

    • https://twitter.com/davidjkramer DavidKramer

Holding them to the rules they create for others…….we might have to write a new rule for the Rules for Radicals.

  • OingoBoingo

Thanks Ebony for doing the right thing. Ignore the haters!

  • frozeninbemidji

    mmmmmmmm, racist tears.

    • JT

They are so delicious when they are flavored with hate.

  • LegalizeShemp

Now you see why these clowns need liberals to lower standards and put the fix in for them. If left to their own intelligence, they’d flunk Graham crackers in kindergarten.

    • GaryUSMCvet.

Surely your comment is a generalization limited only to those clowns featured in that twitter feed, if not — then I’d have to strongly disagree with you. The problem has been a complete/continuous snow job by white liberals that blacks need gov’t help and they deserve such help to ‘right the ship’ of historical wrongs committed by whites since day one of black presence in America. All sanctioned by race hustling, poverty pimps like Jessie Jackson and a host of others — both black and white.

    • Ms. Abigail van Beagle

Isn’t “Graham Crackers” an insult to non-African non-Caucasian persons?

  • Ms. Abigail van Beagle

Not a lack of judgement-a lack of character.

    • H50 ✓RAT

Yea, her last tweet that I saw was words to the effect, that it was her right to ignore opinions/folks that she thought were harmful to herself or others.
Guess she sees dissenting opinion as being harmful.

  • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

There is nothing more full of hate than the intolerant, fringe left.

    • GaryUSMCvet.

      I concur!

  • Ms. Abigail van Beagle

    KOLA BOOF (Whatever that is):
“NO @EBONYmag …Raffi Williams is NOT “Black”. And this delusion by Black Americans is part of how they keep U on bottom. He not our race.”

Way to blow all the efforts that have been made to dispel the old stereotypes that black people talk like cavepersons and only white people can speak clear English. It is not white people or conservatives keeping anyone down. Imposing your own segregation and spewing hate at anyone who isn’t the same color you are is keeping you down.

    • GaryUSMCvet.

Trust me, blacks have plenty of hate for any black that refuses to ‘mentality’ remain on the plantation.

  • Lamontyoubigdummy

…but man, the rage i would feel if my employer did me like EBONY just did jamilah…

And I’d imagine that your employer has a deep file on you, and would invite you to explore your personal rage in therapy while finding employment elsewhere.

And call me crazy, but I think your current employer would likely survive your absence.

Along with the perfunctory law suit that follows.

  • kateorjane

This whole situation is disgusting. I hope the GOP doesn’t think this somehow opened dialogue. It didn’t.
    _______________________
This whole kerfluffle has indeed not opened any dialogue – but it has confirmed there are blacks who are just as racist as the people they complain about, it has confirmed that some blacks don’t actually want a dialogue because they’re not finished playing their victim cards and it has confirmed that some blacks make many decisions purely based on race in spite of criticizing others who do the same.

    • GaryUSMCvet.

Many blacks feel a need to remain loyal to liberal dogma because their parents were democrats, refuse to entertain the thought there is a better way — and proudly display bigotry on a scale that exceeds that which they perceive from whites.

  • BeevaloBill

Twitter has been very useful in the last 36 hours. It exposed the bigotry, hatred, ignorance, banality, inanity, and hypocrisy of the left in very clear terms. Between the Raffi Williams hate fest and #CancelColbert, the left has set itself afire and scorched its own share of the Earth. I think it was a case of “Anthropogenic Auto-Progressive Rapid Decay”.

    Well played fools.

  • Orpheus75

“And I’m done with humans today. #StandWithJamilah”…. so clearly this means you are anything BUT human? Your attitudes and hatred for anything that disagrees with your points of view clearly say so.

  • paperpushermj

Examples of People who brought their Childish Petulance with them into Adult Hood.

  • carmenta

This whole thing makes me sad and angry and hurt. The apology from Ebony implies that the only thing their writer had did wrong was to dismiss the ‘diversity of thought’ suggestion and then ‘mis-identify (Raffi Williams) as white’. That is not what happened at all!!! She dismissed him BECAUSE she thought he was white – it wouldn’t have mattered what he said; BECAUSE she thought he was white, he had nothing to offer! That is what needs addressing.

    • paperpushermj

      Good point

    • Douglas H Lang

Yep! It was a good example of democratic spin, apologise for one aspect and ignore the important one!

  • jaun456

My head hurts from reading the first tweets. Painfully shows how screwed up this country is and how more divided it has become in the last 5 to 6 years.

  • $26626485

So they are not really AGAINST intolerance, bigotry, hate and racism….they just want to be the ones inflicting it…..puts their whole victim hood identity in a different light.

  • Chuck Vipperman

My wife took me to see “Divergent” last night. It’s not a movie I would have picked, but it was her turn. :)

I actually ended up liking it. Its based on a book that is part of a new teen genre where future generations are forced into societal roles. In most of them, it amounts to post-apocalyptic social engineering—“for the greater good.”

The most dangerous characters in these books are those who refuse to conform—who cannot be pigeonholed. They are hunted down and dealt with because they are “uncontrollable.”

I thought about this while reading these exchanges the past couple of days. It appears the orthodox wing of the African-American community is exercising this kind of judgement over “Divergent” African-Americans. It they do not behave according to the previously-defined roles and mores set out for them, they are considered dangerous and severely ostracized. Or worse.

  • right_on

Lack of intelligence exposes itself…during the exchange, and after. Makes me want to do all I can for the beleaguered black communities…no, not really. They seem to be happy with their “blackness.”

    • BillyBob

No matter how much has been tried or how much money has been spent, America can’t fix stupid.

      • Douglas H Lang

  • stuckinIL4now

Sorry, ol’ Jamilah there was acting like a sullen petulant bad ass teenager with her attitude, not wanting to even entertain the possibility that she was WRONG or made a mistake–sheesh, AS IF. Just exhibiting typical asinine libturd I-don’t-like-you-or-I-disagree-with-you-so-I-have-to-shut-you-up-and-shut-you-down-and-silence-you-at-ALL-costs behavior.

  • Michael Rice

Hmmm, I know people who would have been fired for what he did, not have their company issue an apology.

    • Douglas H Lang

Apologies are fine! But it still doesn’t alter the fact that this harridan not only insulted and dismissed someone on the grounds of race but also drove that bus the full mile with multiple tweets on the same abusive dismissive theme! As long as such attitudes are rewarded by not being fired, then any hope of an egalitarian society, where race baiting and hate are gone, is futile

  • Michael Rice

Imagine if white people acted like this. We can’t even say we never witnessed overt racism without being called a racist and claimed we want Jim Crow laws back,

I just had a conversation with my almost 12 year old son about how much better race relations would be if libs quit trying to force people to associate with others who they have very little to nothing in common with.

It’s not even a race thing, it’s cultural. It is no different than forcing rednecks and yuppies to meet and intermingle.

To be clear, to the lurking libs, I am not talking about forced segregation, I am talking bout not forcing integration between private individuals.

It’s the same reason why Koreans, Chinese, etc, flock to live together in neighborhoods. They want to keep their traditions and heritage alive without bothering anyone else.

In Barry’s American we dump our traditions in the name of Muslim this and Mexican that…etc etc and so on.

    • http://www.freedomreconnection.com/ FreedomRecon

      As a Yuppie-Redneck, I’m offended by this. //

    • Tom Winegar

Truth is pretty simple, birds of a feather flock together. It’s normal for like creatures to prefer the company of their own kind, you can see it across the entire animal kingdom. Even we sentient humans have that desire because there is a certain amount of comfort in being with your own. It isn’t racist or bigoted, just natural.

    • blockthiscnn

I agree to the extent that our culture needs to be American, and not African American, Italian American, Jewish-American, etc.

A perfect example of this for me was the Marine Corps. People of all different backgrounds were formed around a common bond. There are cliques in some cases (grunt vs pog, etc), but in the end we were all green. I think we need a similar mindset in our civilian lives, but not turning in to Putin’s Russia. Nationalism for nationalism’s sake is bad, but finding a common bond with others who may not look like you is good. But it should not be forced (outside of the military).

  • catholic_citizen

“How exactly did the past 24 hours lead us to a more reasonable dialogue? What exactly did you accomplish?”

This Elon White character really has a slanted take on reality. Mr. Williams didn’t start this mess; his friend did. She should have backed off, said she was sorry without justifying her idiocy, and this would have been a non-issue.

But nooooooo, in ‘entitled America’, you can be an intolerant racist creep who shoots her mouth off without thought and never have to say you’re sorry.

And I am dying to hear a grown-up explanation how voter id is a violation of the voter’s right act – I guess that is what Elon White was blathering about. Is he inferring that African Americans are too ignorant, poor, or otherwise incapable of presenting some form of identification? Really?

    Wow, that’s racist.

  • danapointdad

what’s there to stand behind this jamillah lady??? she showed nothing but hate and bigotry and hypocrisy… how can anyone defend her indefensible behavior?

So my (white) friend’s kids have a black father, they are fair skinned, but have “ethnic” features, would that have been ok to tweet to them?? Is their opinion “less than” because of that? That was a totally ignorant/racist thing for her to say.

Read Ebony Mag’s response. The only reason they apologized is because Lemieux thought he was white, not realizing he was black…

So had he actually been a white guy, then her tweet where she said “what do I give a crap what a whtie guy thinks, I don’t need some white guy telling me anything” (paraphrase) would have been perfectly fine, even though it’s still racist.

    • justlisa

Exactly. And, that is the way it is. Sad.

  • rjstange

Oh….I see…….only white people can be racists. Now I understand. That clears up a ton of confusion.

    • Tom Winegar

I have heard certain blacks over the last several decades state just that. Blacks were persecuted so once white America rectified that inequity did they meld into society?………NO. In the 1960’s some dishonest Democrat politicians and greedy black leaders ripped off the working people’s tax dollars to use as entitlements to bring them from Republican freedom back to the Democrat plantation. So now they can talk all the $hit they want directed at whitee for keeping them down and it’s a reasonable opinion in their view and when we dare point out how bigoted they are their response is that nothing they say can be considered racist because whitee has it coming. There is a high percentage of the black population in our prisons and they blame it on white bigotry rather than their entitlement mentality and criminal behavior. In the work place they cry discrimination if an employer dares to penalize them for missing work or showing up late. They wonder why so many whites don’t want to live around them or shop amongst them or even pass through their neighborhoods. It’s good to see more coming out and going against the Democrat Party’s criminal agenda but more need to do it and do it loudly. Cosby should be praised for being one of the first to tell it like it is and no doubt gave others the incentive to speak their mind also. The societal playing field is a level as it will ever be so the crying about the past falls on deaf ears and now it’s time to perform as members of American society as American’s, not black American’s or African American’s but simply American’s.

  • Frank Schoner

Wow. So did I read some of those people think Jamilah Lemieux is one of the smartest people they know? That’s sad..

    So Williams is not “black.”

    Then what is Obama?
@KolaBoof NO @EBONYmag …Raffi Williams is NOT “Black”. And this delusion by Black Americans is part of how they keep U on bottom. He not our race.

I think she means “He not our party.”

    Doesn’t she?

Help me out here… do Blacks really think they are Black because they are Democrats?

What would be cool would be, for diversity’s sake, Ebony, Jet … whoever … to do interviews with Ben Carson, Allen West, Condi Rice, Mia Love, Alonzo Rachel, Walter Williams, Thomas Sowell, Clarence Thomas, Stacy Dash, Star Parker … there are quite a few others.

You know — so Ebony could show they represent open minded readers.

    • BAW

And you just listed a few of the more well known.

There’s also Tim Scott, Herman Cain, Michael Steele, Larry Elder, Jason Riley, Katrina Pierson, LaShawn Barber, Lloyd Marcus and so many more who are not well known at all. Because the press tries to pretend they don’t exist?

I’d never heard of Raffi Williams before this week. Never would have guessed Juan Williams had a conservative son.

Did you know we have a black Republican state representative here in Texas named James White?

Ebony could do a genuine service to their readers and us all if they provided a platform and allowed black conservatives voices to be heard in the black community.

I wonder if they have ever done a story on Day Gardner, Alveda King or any of the Black Pro-Life groups. Or pastor C.L. Bryant who told his story about leaving the left-wing black establishment in a film called “Runaway Slave.”

I know of at least three black politicians who let the Democrat party. Two in Louisiana, Elbert
Guillory (I think had been a Republican before) and Ralph Washington became Republicans. While John of Michigan said he left the Democrat party last year and become an independent because of the Democrat “party’s condescending treatment of blacks and Detroiters. ” I bet there are more if someone wanted to report such things.

      • Nonameworks

I am not thinking particularly about writing political pieces (or a stand alone political magazine, though I think that could be a possibility).

How about a magazine (Ebony?) whose target audience is the black community actually representing the impressive variety of professions, occupations, and philosophies — and politics — found in black communities? It might lead to some “robust” dialogue. 😉 (Nod to WaPo here.)

The position many of these black “leaders” like Lemieux take is extraordinary in its narrowness.

There is great irony in the fact that her title is “News Editor.”

There is a lot of news out there ….

        • BAW

Elon James White , et al….just being the bigot filth that black race hucksters are. I guess it beats getting a real education and working an honest job.

  • HoneyTree EvilEye

It wasn’t Ebony’s place to apologize. If they want to punish her, fine, I’d prefer she was fired and didn’t have a forum. But you read these ignorant statements by black people and never have to wonder why we will never have peace. They hate anything even a little white. Perceived white behavior makes them hate other blacks, call them Uncle Toms, traitors, etc…They have no justifiable reason to be angry or this freaking racist. Other than I’ve read some who are angry over forced assimilation. Their ancestors fought for equality(some of them, a fraction) they wanted to go to the same schools as whites and whatnot(again a fraction) and now we have this…Black people pissed, they instill self segregation and I say let em. Let any people that don’t want to have anything to do with every other race be out. However that means moving. Because they don’t accept whites in any position that gives power over them; politicians, police, etc…Because anything that’s done to them is racist. “you apology to the GOP when they apologize for gutting the Voting Rights Act.” Yeah, that’s how he wrote it, how did anyone gut voter rights? ID laws? The same ID laws that are in every other facet of society? The ignorance is palpable with these people saying this simple crap. It was Democrats who held blacks, whites, and others at gun point forcing them to vote their way. Who when they used to lose elections would form posses and threaten to hang the person who truly won if they didn’t run away. They would pay Mexicans to come across the border and vote here in Texas. They’ve been doing all the same crap from day 1. None of this bs is new or acceptable.

    • BAW

You struck a major cord for me with:

“They hate anything even a little white. Perceived white behavior makes them hate other blacks, call them Uncle Toms, traitors, etc…”

It is true and it is irrational, crazy, and undeniably racist.

      • HoneyTree EvilEye

Look how they react to someone biracial, which almost everyone in this country is especially blacks(I saw pictures of the ancestors of the man 12 Years a Slave is based on and half of them were freakin white). They expect them to “choose sides” and be black ignoring all other ancestry. Obama’s black yet his mother was white and he was raised by all white people cause his dad abandoned him and all of his other children. I should point out I generalized in my comments but only because the percentage who are this way is enough to make a generalizing comment. I know at least 1 black dude who can’t stand “typical” black people like this because he’s been the victim of m massive racism from blacks. He’s one of the darkest skinned men I’ve ever seen but he speaks “white” and is intelligent so he’s gotten a lot of hatred.

I also hope they start taking a more positive look at People like Dr. Carson, Col. West, Mia Love, and other black Conservatives (HINT:There are more of them than they know). Jawamax 8<{D}

Clearly the wealthy, white liberal elite has succeeded over the years in whippin’ up outrage in the black community (same thing they did to women), and the results are just sad. These blacks (just like angry feminists) have been bamboozled by those in power to direct anger at a convenient scapegoat (conservatives), so that the liberal elite can keep them ignorant, dependent and voting accordingly.

Just keepin’ em on the plantation…

  • RandyM

I am disappointed to see that Twitchy, and many folks commenting on this event, are praising Ebony for “doing the right thing”. They are FAR from doing the right thing. Not only are they continuing to employ an openly racist and hateful person, but they carefully worded their so-called “apology” to make one thing clear – IF this Raffi person had in fact been a ‘white guy’, than it would have been perfectly OK to treat him like a 2nd class citizen, not worthy of a civilized response.

They intentionally and specifically did not apologize to Whites, because at Ebony it’s perfectly OK, it is their belief, that they need not treat whites as equals.

At least they are not hiding it, they are out in the open with that belief. But it doesn’t deserve to be praised.

  • Guest

During slavery, segregation, and the civil rights movement, Black people in this country had the moral high ground. Not today. They act just as rotten as the very people that mistreated blacks during those times.

But Paul Ryan needs to tiptoe past these racial issues and apologize to the CBC for telling the truth.

  • stellatruman

having a ” black ” president has been the worst thing for race relations in this country for a long , long time

    • tarandfeatherthecrooks

May I suggest that a mature, knowledgeable and filled with wisdom man or woman of any color would have been a blessing. Any-color president who is a Marxist Jihadist-loving liar who betrays the Constitution of these United States is an aberration of Righteousness and the consequences of evil compounded with foolishness will reverberate for years…may God rebuke the evil of our day.

EBONY acknowledges the black racism that runs rampant in their editorial department. Well, I guess that’s a first step.

  • jeanie6

The thing about this gal is that apparently she did NOT know that Raffi W was black. Would it have been unreasonable to expect her to get facts before she sounds off. I have been reading interviews she has given in other venues in the past and she seems excessively wrapped up in feminism and blackness. This points to a narrow viewpoint and lack of acceptance for differing opinions.

First of all… Jamileh should have had the chesticles to apologize HERSELF first… when she’d been out and out caught being a racist byatch towards the right.
And then.. any of the moonbat left that wrote above wouldn’t have had to get their racist azzes in a knot over Ebony doing the right thing.

The lot of you should go sit in the corner for an hour or two like the bad lil immature twerps you are.

    • Ms. Abigail van Beagle

I don’t think they should have apologized on her behalf.
I think they should have “sh*t-canned” her posterior post-haste and apologized for harboring someone so vile on their staff in the first place.
I mean, seriously-how ridiculous is it for an admittedly black magazine to have a raging RACIST on their staff?!? Does a lot to improve race relations & bring about harmony & equality, right?

      • StonedAngel

        Absolutely. On all that.. ;o)

  • Daniel the bruce

ah…hello all ya’all, your racism is showing

    • Ghee!

Define racism. Since it is such a fluid term molded to suit the needs of the victimized left at their whimsy.

  • Janice LEE

Does this woman ever think about what it means to be held to no standards at all. That she isn’t expected to show dignity, intelligence, or class.

  • doriangrey11

African-American culture is more racist today, then the KKK ever was. These people angry with Ebony are angry, because they believe what Jamilah Lemieuxs said was the right thing for an African American to say, and they cannot conceive of their beliefs and attitudes as being in any way shape or form wrong or racist.

  • BitemeDC

Black conservatives get so much garbage from the left, they get it from within the black community…it’s a good thing to apologize when you do something wrong…Ebony did the right thing…the people complaining, have deeper issues than the “Ebony apology”…

  • Ms. Abigail van Beagle

Well, I think we have coined a new word:
Just as Beyonce has become sort of an informal word for pretty girls, so shall “Jamilah” be known as a euphemism for any person of color who cries racism while hating on people of other races.
