You love it? Oh, that’s good. Because that’s what “Veronica Mars” and “Frozen” star Kristen Bell did today.

Bell linked to a Salon article about the RNC’s new ad campaign featuring a Republican millennial. Naturally, she managed to tie that into an argument for higher tax rates for the wealthy:

Isn’t that special?

Here’s a good question:

Bell’s response:

Yeah, she totally gets it.

Another good point:

Quiet, Leigh. You’re not an expert like Kristen:

Why should it be up to the government to decide how much money someone should be allowed to have?

Fair enough. We don’t know you, either. But if you care so much and think government is the answer, what’s stopping you from giving the IRS more of your money?

Phil Gingrey did exactly that with his shutdown check. Returned it to offset enormous federal deficit

    • grais

Hey, she’s taking a stand. She’s not saying she Will pay more. Yap flapping is enough for her to *feel* like a caring person. When she convinces her compatriots to all live within 2,000 sq ft and live on $75,000/year, I’ll take her seriously.

      • Hot_wings

Love when ultrarich libs like her, or Warren Buffet are all… “Please… OH PLLLLEEEEEEAAAASE raise my taxes” *wink, wink*

    • kateorjane

The people who espouse the rich paying more NEVER seem to want to use that route. Maybe the govt could publish a list of all the people who contribute extra?

    • KC

I think she meant to say that rich people should be “forced” to pay higher taxes.

      • CptNerd

Except she still wants to take all the deductions and exemptions she can, legally and otherwise…

    • Finrod Felagund

Precisely. If anyone wants to voluntarily pay more in taxes, there’s a spot on the 1040 form to do precisely that. Anyone who says taxes should be raised on the rich that doesn’t already do that is a gigantic Hollywood hypocrite.

  • Michael Rice

Same old, same old middle class BS. Everywhere tat those types of attitudes have prevailed the country has become an economical hell.

That is coming from me, a person whose family pays virtually no taxes because of our income.

I don’t think the rich should pay more and I have seen MY tax bracket up close.

  • Michael Rice

This is the same woman who said she would not get married until gay marriage was legal in the whole US, or something to that regard.

Kristen sure talks big for someone who is not only rich but works in an industry that got a sweetheart deal in a 2013 Fiscal Cliff deal and wants an even bigger break again.

  • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

She says that, but I bet she got a big tax break along with other celebrities for promoting Obamacare and Obama’s re-election campaign.

And she forgets, when tax rates on the rich go up, they go up on the poor as well. Obama and the Dems claim it doesn’t, but it does. My mom’s taxes on her check are the highest they’ve ever been, and she’s really going to take a hit if she signs up for SocialistCare.

So unless if Hollywood is willing to shell out the majority of their fortunes to the IRS so the rest of us don’t see our taxes rise as well, these rich elitist scum should shut up.

  • MNWoman

    A few things:

1.) this makes me so mad to see her spout such nonsense since I absolutely loved the Veronica Mars show.
2.) I am most definitely not in the ‘rich’ tax bracket, but in any case, wasteful government spending makes me furious. I don’t think it is okay for the government to spend more just because the federal government thinks ‘hey, let’s just tax the rich even more since they can afford it. In America, you should be able to decide how much money you keep and how much you spend/give away.
3.) The federal government is not a charity. Taxes are not used for ‘safety net’ programs. I don’t have issues with temporary assistance. It is when those programs turn into a multi-generational way of living that pisses me off.

    • TugboatPhil

I like it when people say, “I don’t mind paying more taxes as long as it’s for something good.” That is the sure sign of someone who has never bothered to look at anything the feds spend money on or the programs that never end.

    • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

It’d be nice if Democrats in Congress and the White House paid their fair share. Charles Rangel is a tax cheat, Obama only paid 18% taxes. So that would be a good place to start.

      • WhoDat

They’re rich, and should have to pay more than I do.

        • journogal

And honest ones do, or do you not realize that (or want to realize that.)

          • WhoDat

And the dishonest should be thrown in jail and forced to pay their back taxes.

            No more needless tax loopholes.

          • journogal

Disban IRS, enact flat tax at 10%, and regardless is you make $100, $1000, $10,000 or whatever, pay 10% in taxes, thus everyone has skin in the game.

          • carmenta

5% would be sufficient IF everyone paid it!

          • journogal

True…there needs to be something that everyone pays into and no one is carrying the load for anyone else. If someone needs assistance, that is the role of charities not the government at the expense of taxpayers.

          • WhoDat

Many charities are unable to pull the slack the government gives.

          • journogal

Perhaps not with a flat tax. The government SHOULD NOT play the role of a charity, especially with other people’s tax money. Government has a defined role per the Constitution. Government IS NOT suppose to redistribute wealth (look at how great that is working out in Venezuela.) I should add, if government wanting to “provide,” it should be temporary and there should be some sort of work program tied into it.

          • Jerry Camp

In a society where those designated ‘poor’, or living under the poverty line, have running water and air conditioning, own cellphones and their own cars, subscribe to cable tv and internet provider, need has been swamped by want.

          • QueenB

Maybe because money that would have perhaps gone to charity is being sucked up by the government in taxes.

          • carmenta

IF all the wasteful, useless, fraudulent government boondoggles were abolished and if everyone paid 5%, there would be enough to pay for a social safety net for those who really cant take care of themselves, too! The ONLY job of the Federal government should be to provide for the defense of the nation, and possibly providing oversight and control of the national grid. Anything other than that should be handled at state level.

          • mrspinky85

So, Obama should lead by example and pay the highest rate of 39.5% instead of 18.5%. You know equality and all.

        • mrspinky85

How much more? Who decides the limit?

          • WhoDat

More than the $0 so many are paying.

          • mrspinky85

You do know that what they do is in the tax code.
Back to my other question. How much is enough?

        • Corey Dennison

The rich ARE paying more. You asked for proof above…and I provided it.

      • mbs235
    • R.C.

Tax is always passed on to the consumer. Period. And not an 0bama period, I mean a real period, period. Period.
So its always the little guy that gets pinched the most no matter who you raise taxes on.

    • nickdqwk

WhoDat, how’s it going? Just a little thing about corporate taxes, no matter how much they’re taxed it will always be passed on to the consumer, I’m not saying they should get off scott free, but as they say it’s all in the cost of doing business.

    • Keith

Boeing employs approx 170,000 people in the USA. Those 170,000 average $70,000/yr in salary and say they each pay 20% in federal taxes then that would translate into 2.38 billion dollars to the federal government. All of those employees buy homes, cars, food, clothes, etc etc due to the fact Boeing exists. I think Boeing is fine and contributes plenty to our economy.

    • Jerry Camp

Who pays taxes levied on business? C’mon, Econ 101…

  • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

And taxes are already the highest they’ve been in years. The Dems want to keep raising taxes because they don’t want to slow down on spending. Why can’t rich liberals understand that? It’s not that people aren’t paying enough in taxes, it’s that more is being spent than is coming in. Seriously, it’s really easy to understand.

And Barack Obama paid only 18% taxes last year, so they support a tax cheat. So shut up libs.

  • Blake Waymire

Why can’t they just shut up? I’m glad Frozen’s such an amazing film, otherwise this might turn me off to it.

Kristen, honey, if you think you should pay more taxes, just send a donation to the government. It’s possible.

    • Perry

Oh yeah. There’s a place for you to contribute if you want to volunteer to help pay down the debt. If you WANT to.

  • URGR82

North Korea has gotten very efficient at taking others money and hard work (fair share). In the name of efficiency they have managed people into camps and control (regulate) every aspect of their lives. Very similar to owning a slave in the early history of the US. Very similar to black on black slave trade that has been occurring in Africa for thousands of years

  • Perry

How much is his salary a year?

    • Perry

“Hey Barack, I was wondering if you could help me out with this? OH, and I would like to purchase 100,000 copies of your outdated book to distribute to my employees.”

  • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

The top 10% of our country already pay 70% of the total annual tax revenue. What more does Obama want? Why don’t they get an actual budget, then we can talk about raising taxes.

    • WhoDat

A budget is proposed every year, it’s on Congress to pass it.

      • journogal

Maybe someone should ask Democrat-extrodinaire Harry Reid, majority leader, why he won’t even bring up any of the House-passed budgets for debate. But if he did that, how could he blame the Republicans and the private-citizens Koch brothers for everything?

        • WhoDat

Mostly because he sees the poison pills the House puts into their budgets; ACA defunding, cuts to safety nets, etc.

          • mike_in_kosovo

How would Reid know, since he never puts them on the calendar?

          • journogal

They have passed clean budget bills, but Reid refuses to bring them into debate. Why is he not doing his job? Obviously it doesn’t bother you, you’ll make excuse for him, but if he was a Republican, you wouldn’t be so forgiving.
He doesn’t bring them up because he doesn’t want to give any credit to the Republicans. It’ll take away from blaming them and the Koch brothers (private citizens with obvious awesome powers to control the country.)

          • WhoDat

            Regarding your last sentence:

I suppose you think it’s okay for someone to spend millions on attack ads if they’re supporting a conservative/libertarian viewpoint.

Let the unions support liberal/progressive viewpoints and attack ads and spend millions and you’re up in arms.

          • Humanary Stew

Except the public sector unions get taxpayer money to do it. It is a slush fund for democrats. Fair?

          • journogal

Koch brothers are private citizens, yes or no? Why is the Majority Leader calling out private citizens on the Senate floor? I don’t understand the left’s odd hatred of people that gainfully employ others, which the Koch’s do, but think differently than liberals thus the hatred. What has the Koch personally done to this country? they are ranked in the low 30’s -40’s when it comes to political contributions, and who is ranked #1? Unions. But listening to liberals, you’d think that the Koch’s control everything. I am disturbed by the fact that they are called out (and rec death threats, etc.) They do the same things unions do, albeit at a smaller scale, but you think they had all of this power.

          • mrspinky85

So, I guess that’s when compromise comes in. And that doesn’t mean doing only what the left wants.I do remember that the right just wanted to delay the ACA but someone who said no did it anyways later.

          • blockthiscnn

You’re right, those are poison pills…to the government. They’re aspirin for the taxpayer.

You seem to have a little Reid dripping from your chin there, kid. Here’s a napkin.

      • mrspinky85

Talk about the 10% that pay 70%. What’s acceptable to you?

        • WhoDat

I keep seeing that statistic thrown around devoid of proof.

          • Corey Dennison

Here you go, WhoDat. From the CBO:

          • Corey Dennison

Here’s another one from the IRS:

          • Humanary Stew

Still keeping your head in the sand? Can you hear anything like that? It appears not as you seem unaware of the truth.

      • ButteryWench

My son proposed pizza every night for dinner when he was 5, didn’t make it a good idea. Just because a budget is proposed, doesn’t make it feasible. You know this.

  • CO2 Producer

Give the government more of your money, and the government will find more ways to waste your money.

    • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

That’s all it’s about. The Democrats want more tax money so they can spend it. They don’t want to slow down on spending, so their only answer is to raise taxes.

  • MNWoman

I don’t begrudge rich people their wealth. You know what happens when they get to keep their money instead of giving it to a government that pisses it away with wasteful spending?

Those pesky rich people spend their money. Yep, that’s right. They spend their money thus creating a need for workers. And that means creating more middle class jobs.

    • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

      That raises an interesting point.

      • MNWoman

Truthfully, I would love to be rich, but I am not. Does that mean I think those who are rich owe me something for nothing? No.

As far as the rich paying more taxes, I guess my biggest issue with that is how the government is so irresponsible with the revenue (taxes) it collects. It has no reason to curb spending when you have so many morons like this who think all we need to do is tax the rich more and all will be okay.

Even with my smaller contribution to the world of income taxes, I am so furious when I see the government carelessly spend the hard earned tax dollars I pay in.

These bleeding heart idiots do not realize it isn’t so much the taxes as it is about how the taxes are being recklessly spent.

        • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

See, that’s the biggest difference between the right and the left.

The left puts everyone into different classes and treats them all different.

I personally believe that if someone earned their fortune through honest work, they are entitled to keep what is left after taxes. Celebrity or business executive. If they earned it and didn’t kill anyone or rob anyone on the way up, they should get to keep what’s left after they pay taxes.

What my picture was asking was why are liberals okay with celebrities making so much money, but they don’t think a CEO deserves to be rich when (unlike said celebrity), they are employing workers and creating jobs.

          • MNWoman

Sorry…your picture did not show up until I refreshed the page.

now I see it and I just want to say it really sums up the Hollywood/Celebrity hypocricy perfectly.

          • carmenta

I dont even care if its an inherited fortune – you’re lucky enough to come from someone who made and conserved their wealth, great! I dont begrudge anyone anything. Greed and envy are all the lib/left/progs have to provoke the ‘great unwashed’ into carrying their (bath) water!

          • mrspinky85

Are the celebrities that are also business people (Oprah) considered in this evil 1% group?

      • mrspinky85

I been saying this forever. The left only talk about wealthy business people like most athletes, actors, actress and other rich celebrities don’t count.
Then OF A asks us for $5 to pimp the ACA.

      • Henry Rearden

Cause raaaaacccccccciiiiiiisssssssttttttt or something. That’s why Beyonce making $50 million is ok.

  • sambar2

Sorry, Kristen, but there’s a BIG difference between someone rich enough to own a private plane (like you and Trump) and someone who’s considered “rich” but has 50 employees and a struggling business they’re barely keeping afloat right now. Yet these people already pay almost half of their money in taxes. And where does it go? To pet projects of greedy politicians with sticky fingers. And who does it actually help in the long run? Absolutely no one.

No wonder you’re willing to pay higher taxes. You won’t feel the pinch in the slightest. Unlike many of the “rich” you are referring to.

These celebrities have their heads so far in the clouds they can’t even comprehend the world the rest of us live in.

    • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

And the business owners being taxed to death end up either going out of business (which costs jobs) or letting most of their staff go to stay afloat (which costs jobs).

Maybe Bell should sell her multi-million dollar mansion and send the money she makes off of it to the IRS. Being an actress, she can probably afford just buy another one.

    • thedumbblonde

She has maybe a net worth of 10 million. She’s not Gulfstream rich.

      • Perry

Celebrity net worth says she’s at 16M.

        • thedumbblonde

Not enough for even a used G5.

      • sambar2

Fine, take the private plane out of the equation. The point still stands. She can’t even comprehend the situation of “rich” people who aren’t on her level. Even if the aforementioned business owner makes $1 mil a year, after the government takes almost half, and then they have to use a huge chunk of the remainder to help keep their business going, what’s left? These people have earned the right to have the lifestyle of their choosing. But the taxes they are already required to pay makes that very difficult. I’d like to see the crocodile tears pouring out of her precious little eyes if she was told she had to live on $500,000 a year. She’s completely out of touch. And has absolutely no right to lecture anyone on what they should be paying in taxes.

        • thedumbblonde

You’ll get no argument from me…let’s fast-forward 10 years and see how she feels.

      • snakebit

Perhaps not rich enough to *own* a G5 for her exclusive use, but plenty rich enough to charter private jets.

  • SideshowJon36

Funny that none of these guilty rich never live on a $100K salary and donate the rest to charity or The Federal Leviathan

    • sambar2

    • Perry

Yeah. I always thought it would be a good idea for a politician to propose a “Hollywood tax” on them, to feed the poor. Ya know, LET them keep 4x the wages of a middle class family, then tax them at 95% for anything above that. What would they say about it? “What! You don’t want to feed the poor?!” Turn that crap back around on them.

      • MrSnuggles2k2

A Hollywood tax would just mean higher ticket and popcorn prices. As if they are not expensive enough. $40 to take my oldest son to the Lego movie and buy him a small popcorn and a pop.

No what we need in addition to the Hollywood tax is to set movie ticket prices to $5 and popcorn and soda to $2.

Oh and movie theater employees make… Let’s say $20 an hour minimum.

Give these leftist Hollywood morons a taste of their own policies.

  • journogal

Kinda funny coming from an actress since Harvey Weinstein, either last week or the week before, was making his case to a group that Hollywood needed MORE tax breaks.

    • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

And Bell is probably among those in Hollywood set to get a big tax break for backing the Democrats in all of their endeavors.

      • journogal

        Of course…

  • Jedd McHead

“i care abt ppl who have trouble paying rent-b/c Im not an asshole.”

Okay, you may “care” about people but you most certainly ARE an asshole. End of story.

    • mrspinky85

She’s more than welcome to pay my rent.

Except taxes don’t help the poor or middle class at all. You’re free to write a check to the US treasury if you like though. Just know it will go straight to politicians’ pockets.

  • MrApple

She does realize that SHE can pay more if she wants to? She doesn’t have to wait for the rest of “rich America” to pay too.

  • MNWoman

I understand the need for taxes. What I don’t understand the need for is irresponsible, out of control federal government spending.

This spending includes programs not necessary for the overall function of our nation and the many, many programs that are better left up to the states.

  • MNWoman

when politicians read stuff like this, I bet it sure motivates them to find ways to cut government spending, doesn’t it?

  • MNWoman

It’s funny. Conservatives are pretty good at giving to charity.

it is a screwed up world we live in when we are criticized for wanting to give more money to charity instead of giving more money to the government.

    • Perry

The left BASHES Christians and they are very generous people, from individuals to organizations. Lefties are a very hateful segment of the country.

      • mrspinky85

What like Catholic Charities? Like they didn’t know what Catholics beliefs were before they attacked them while not caring about the people they helped.

  • QueenB

So she’s basically saying that because she is a higher tax bracket, she knows more than those in lower tax brackets, but don’t accuse her of being an elitist because she cares.

    • MrSnuggles2k2

But it ends at her “caring”, she has probably never helped a fellow human being in her life.

  • GaryTheBrave

This is the reason I think everyone in the entertainment industry should be paid minimum wage and not a penny more.

    • WhoDat

Indeed. Educators and public safety employees should be paid what these “entertainers” get.

      • journogal

You do realize educators aren’t paid minimum wage; those are typically salaried positions.

        • WhoDat

          Obviously. But, not my point.

They, IMO, should be making a lot more than they are. They actually do stuff, unlike these Hollywood people.

          • journogal

            That I wholeheartedly agree with…

  • bkeyser

Apparently she’s never seen an IRS tax table.

  • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Let’s say that those who work for a wage, own their businesses, or sell something they bought themselves and perhaps added some value to, should be exempt from taxation, and make all the “rent-seekers” (i.e., those who make their money parasitically by just horning in for a “cut of the action,” i.e., all the shakedown artists on the Left and all the Wall Street gamblers who buy and sell strictly financial products, i.e., shares in some entity that neither produces a product nor provides a service) have to pay the freight. Pretty soon we’ll see who the makers and takers are in this society.

  • CrustyB

OK. What time do you leave for work, Ms. Bell? I’m just going to stop by and nick a few of your household possessions while you’re gone. Why not? You can afford it!

  • John

    95% sounds about right.

  • Steve__Jacobson

  • BorderLine Guy

    Yo Kristen:

Put your money where your big mouth is.

  • Gallatin

Where do these insufferable twits come from?

    • MrSnuggles2k2

      She’s probably canadian

    • blockthiscnn

From the insufferable twit farm, of course

      • Gallatin

That’s some funny stuff right there!

  • ISurvivedaBlueState

Many times in the past, lawmakers HAVE raised taxes on “the rich”….and yet we still have rampant poverty, inner-city ghettos, overcrowded prisons, overburdened social workers, crumbling schools, etc., as liberals constantly remind us. How could this possibly be??? #liberallogic

    • carmenta

      definition of insanity is…..

  • Chuck Finley Cracka®

    Kristen who?

    • Perry

      Some rich, blonde Cracka.

she’s like an actress n stuff.

  • NixTyranny

So, Kristen is actually for a Flat Tax or Fair Tax (if 16th Amendment repealed 1st), it’s just that she is too stupid or too uninformed to know it.

  • neoface

Kristen should let all the homeless people live with her as well. I mean heck, she has got a house and they don’t, it’s only fair. Lamebrain liberals, what can you do???

    • Perry

The White man probably stole the land she lives on anyway. She needs to GIVE IT BACK!

  • NRPax

” i care abt ppl who have trouble paying rent-b/c Im not an asshole.”

    • H50 ✓RAT

My first thought was; Oh really precious, so how many poor peoples rent are you paying because your not an “asshole?”
None? Well then, hate to tell you, but by your own ludicrous standards you are indeed an “asshole.” Congratulations.

  • Humanary Stew

if people paid more taxes, they wouldn’t be able to donate to the stupid movie you crowd sourced.

  • in_awe

“we’ve been sold a bill of goods to save them $ when lower/middle class can’t find jobs OR pay their bills.”

Hey Kristen, please point to the place in the Constitution where taxpayers are obligated to (1) find jobs for other people or (2) pay bills for them. The Founding Fathers favored self reliance, free commerce and certainly would never have condoned the off-scale inequality of the current income tax scheme.

I am sure you are sincere about wanting people to live great lives. Why don’t you just sell all your stuff and donate the proceeds to the poor and then live on 10% of your fabulous annual earnings with the rest sent directly to the US Treasury? I think that would be fair.

    • Perry

It’s these lefties feeling guilty for making million$ for a couple of months work pretending to be someone else on stage, then demanding others who actually work hard for a living and making 1/1000th of what they make to share in their guilt. FVCK YOU! Hey bimbo, I actually know the price of hamburger has skyrocketed since the first of the year.

  • ked5

so what’s stopping her from sending more of her money to the IRS?

  • mrspinky85

Anyone at anytime can pay more taxes. But forcing your view down our throat…getting the government involved in….we have a choice what to do with our own…O_o

    Which side is pro-choice again?

  • mrspinky85

How about you help me out by taking a few of your extra dollars and spend it on a microeconomics and a macroeconomics class.

    • stuckinIL4now

Or how about a class or two on our founding history so she might understand how taxation lead to revolution through these events: 1764 Sugar Act, 1765 Stamp Act, 1765 Quartering Act, 1767 Townshend Acts, 1773 Tea Act, 1774 Intolerable Acts.

  • toddm123

Another moronic, uninformed Hollywood celeb. Where do these idiots learn this stuff?

    • mrspinky85

They don’t learn or they would know that this has been done before. France is losing millionaires in droves.

      • toddm123

The truth is MOST celebrities really aren’t that bright. The funniest show on tv is celebrity Jeopardy.

  • JackTors2012

Of course taxing the rich more will help poorer people pay their rent-it’s not like the revenue generated will end up in Democrat campaign coffers via municipal worker union dues.

  • stuckinIL4now

Just one question for Kristen: What happens to low-talent “hacktors” like you when so-called “rich” people have no money left to invest in movies and TV shows because they took your advice and gave all their extra money to da’ gubmint?

And let me help you out with an answer: The reason the “lower/middle class can’t find jobs OR pay their bills” is because da’ gubmint has been killing jobs by taxing businesses out of business and the biggest job-cremating tax right now is Obumuhcare.

  • Oilfart1

She is so blonde. Nothing against blondes.

    • nickdqwk

Yep! Better tread lightly we have some absolutely awesome smart blondes that hang out in these parts. I do agree though this one kind of keeps the stereo type at the ready.
      Edit: Added ;^)

  • Token White Guy

Dangit. I had planned to go see the new “Veronica Mars” movie because I was such a fan of the TV show. May have to rethink that now.

    • Johnny Blade

I had never heard of the show but only made it about 10 minutes into the movie.

  • junkbondtrader41

    “End. Of. Story?”

How about, “Write. The. Bigger. Check??” The IRS won’t send it back to you just because the rates aren’t currently that high.

No? Then how about, “Shut. The. ****. Up!”

  • keyboard jockey

    Kristen Bell ✔ @IMKristenBell

Knock yourself out write a check out to the government you think the government deserves your money. #Period

  • Johnny Right

    Dear Ms. Bell,

When paying the IRS leads to the strengthening of the middle class, instead of destroying it, we’ll let you know. Until then, shut your face and keep making crappy movies.

  • H50 ✓RAT

Unless your cutting a check for an additional 50% of your income (on top of your regular tax liability) to the IRS every year precious, STFU.

  • yourmamatoo

No one is stopping her .
    She can pay away.

  • MartiniShark

It would seem that Kristen is something of an expert when it comes to spending other people’s money.

The self-proclaimed “rich person” has a new VERONICA MARS film coming out that was entirely crowd funded. So she doesn’t want you to give ALL your money to the government — she’ll be needing some for herself.

  • chesterarthur

I guess the money doesn’t mean much to an actress when people pay you just to run around less than dressed for the camera.

  • JDW

According to one site that tracks such things, Ms. Bell has a net worth of $16MM. Interesting that she just starred in a $6MM film that was “crowd funded” — that is, the audience paid to get the movie made that they’ll pay to see….

    • Thevelvetkitten

So the little people will foot the bill twice for her movie while she nets most all the gain? interesting.

    • americandavey

Exactly! She didn’t want to invest her own money to get her old TV show to be a Feature Film. She and her rich friends had to go out to the middle class to get crowd funding.

      • xstratusx

You should ask Kristen why that is. Apparently she likes answering people.

  • Thevelvetkitten

Well have at it honey( who is she anyways )…but seeing as much of it will be wasted in red tape you would be better suited to donate it personally.

  • Corey Dennison

So Ms. Bell—YOU want to pay more? Here you go:

    • xstratusx

      Tweet her.

  • ButteryWench

Unless she is writing checks (plural) every month to help cover people’s rent, she has absolutely no right to say that we don’t care. I’m not in a high tax bracket, but it kills me a little every time I go to the store and see someone whip out a EBT card and “pay” for something I can’t afford to buy when I have a job. (I say pay, but honestly, they’re not paying for anything when it’s someone else’s money) Sweetie pie needs to get back to reality. I recommend she hides her money from the husband so he don’t get half in the divorce.

  • Flax Seed

News flash for ya, rich people DO PAY higher taxes.

  • Osumashi Kinyobe

    Start with this broad.

Start at seventy-five percent and keep climbing.

  • JD Son

Feel free to donate, you brain dead LIB. I want to keep more of what I earn and not feel “shoved” to donate more than what I currently am right now. I encourage people to become wealthy. It is all about upward mobility. You tax people excessively, and the pie does not grow. Idiot,

  • ekaneti

How about repealing all the tax incentives Hollywood gets.

  • DeniseVB

This just begs for Taxed only on what you spend not what you earn and it eliminates the IRS. Ms. Bell would be fine with that, right?

  • Marc Solomon

The problem isnt that the rich arent paying enough taxes, but that the government is spending and borrowing way too much. Taxing the wealthy more…for what? So that the beast can be fed more and waste more? An economic genius, she is not.

And put your money where your mouth is, lady.

  • Sua Sponte

Pony-up the check book or STFU…

  • Janice LEE

If this dim bulb thinks the gummint needs more money, she ought to write a check. No one is stopping her.

  • xstratusx

Kristen says, “trust me I’m in this tax bracket and i see it up close.” Since when do people in all tax brackets know each other and their spending habits? I’m middle class and I don’t see up close all other middle class people’s finances.

  • Mike Gable

Since you won’t miss the 10grand, just put it in the mail, God I detest liberals.

  • Jake Bradford

None of these self-righteous celebs EVER have a problem with say…Beyoncé’s excesses, Obama’s 100 million vacations, etc. But small business owners, those greedy greedy bastards, should be taxed to death to pay for socialist utopias.
AND she cites Salon, run by “crazy eyes” communist witch Joan Walsh?

  • Henry Rearden

Kristen Bell doesn’t have the sense to pour piss out of a boot even if the instructions are printed on the heel. END. OF. STORY.

  • Rip_Ford

Since a friend was making a fuss about the Veronica Mars movie I decided to check out the TV series. Couldn’t get past the opening of the pilot episode where she starts going on about how there are no middle class in the town, only rich people and the poor people who serve them.

    • CLEmom

Funny, we had a middle class until Obama took office.
The rich still have their money…the poor have a million entitlement programs.
The middle class has nothing except higher costs of food, energy, fuel, health care, etc.
There is no place for the middle class in a Socialist/Communist society, which is where we pretty much are at this point.

    • dabhidh

I’m not a fan Ms. Bell’s political comments but I am a fan of that series. The lefty politics is an exceedingly small topic in the series, if you get beyond the few comments that lean that way you may enjoy it.

  • CLEmom

    Hey Kristen,
What’s stopping you? You can write a check anytime you want.
Just make it out to the US Treasury…
You also fail to understand that you could pay 100% in taxes, and the asshats in DC would just waste it, as they waste the trillions they are receiving now.
The hellhole called DC is the problem.

  • dabhidh

Of course she never sees wealthy people invest in the community – she’s in Hollywood hanging out with celebrities who blow tens of thousands of dollars on toys, booze, drugs, clothes and plastic surgery. That’s her frame of reference for how wealthy people behave. It’s maddening to hear someone who lives in a bubble of wealth and privilege try to set the rules for those who live outside the bubble. Someone should tell her and her Hollywood pals that if they think they’re too wealthy, they can always elect to send a few million extra with their tax returns. The government will not return it.

  • FirstBoot

Then stop banging your gums and your keyboard and pony up. Put up or shut up, Ms. Bell.

  • Finrod Felagund

Earth to Kristen Bell: you think ‘rich’ people should pay higher taxes?

Guess what: they already do. It’s called a progressive income tax. Try reading up about it before flapping your gums next time.

  • sb36695

Yes! Because the government spends so wisely!! We know you’re too stupid to spend on the right things. Did you donate to Solyndra? Because that’s better than charity!

  • Stephen L. Hall #NonquamTrump

Those Economics classes between takes on the set sure turn these starlets into experts.

  • MerlePearl

One thing for certain…Kristen Bell is magnanimous with other people’s money. #socialist

  • Arkuy The Great

    “xo a rich person”

Tell you what, Kris. Write a check to the IRS for what you think you owe and post it on your website when it clears the bank. Until then talk is cheap.

  • Marcy Cook

Hey Kristen…you like it so much I just sent you a bill for the taxes I paid throughout the year ….you can pay them too. Send the money to me.

  • tommcgtx

    Kristen Bell, Class A Assclown

  • ohspareme

Why would she only call out the RNC “rich”? Plenty of liberals out there with some bank! They love to scream KOCH BROTHERS whilst forgetting about George Soros and Warren Buffet and the other Hollywood elite who kowtow to the president and his sham policies.

  • Stupid is as Stupid …

There’s nothing stopping her from paying additional taxes. Has she cut a check made payable to the US or State Government? Or is she just wanting to force everybody to pay more taxes.

  • © Sponge

Kristen, sweetie, if you’re sooooooooooo concerned about the “middle class” and those that “pay rent,” you should start a foundation that gives a minimum of 80 – 85% of the proceeds (unlike Lady Gaga’s .00000025%) to low income housing or rental assistance to the “needy.”

That way, you can give as much as you’d like to those you “want” to get it without having to have the Government GUN pointed at your head for TAX money that WON’T go to those people.

Why must you people CONSTANTLY remind those of us that make you rich how out of touch with us you are?

  • Jakerb25

I make almost 150k/year. According to these millionaire hollywood liberals… I’m rich and greedy. Trust me, after my daughters have had their fill of each of my paychecks I’m looking for quarters in the sofa cushions.

  • Centurian2010

Kristen Bell, just another ignorant of the facts, liberal. First, CA already pays the highest income tax in the country. If you make over $100k, you pay between fedzilla and state tax, approx. 45% of your income. Secondly, Bell needs to watch the video “Eat the Rich” by Bill Whittle to see how flawed her big government, excessive spending and increased taxation on the “rich” (a term the liberals use for an ever moving target) does not work.

  • Amy

Ok, if she feels like she should pay more, she can do that annually, like someone pointed out above, there is a space on all tax forms that allow here to pay more in taxes. However, what she seems to be assuming is that her increase in tax payments will directly benefit the middle and lower income brackets, I’d like her to please lay out her basis for this assumption, because as someone firmly in what is left of CA’s middle class, I can honestly say I don’t see any benefit as this point from CA’s millionaire tax. I’m not seeing it in my local public schools, roads, parks, anywhere…..

  • Jefferson

I think Kristen Bell should give 50 percent of her yearly income to the government.

  • chewie402

Kristen Bell – What if I told you that a poor person isn’t poor simply because a rich person isn’t “paying enough” in taxes.

  • Henry Rearden

Good thing she’s mildly attractive. But she has no brains to fall back on when the looks go.

  • Henry Rearden

So I’m guessing it’s against the law to write a bigger check than what you owe? Who knew this? You mean it isn’t against the law? Then why don’t they write the checks for more than they owe?

  • jabberwocky

The rich Dems must hate her
