A very sorry day. GQ asked Robertson a question, and he answered it honestly. For that, he was punished.

A&E has already taken a whole lotta heat for its decision. Daniels predicts that things could be very ugly when the smoke clears:

Indeed. You made this bed, A&E. Be prepared to wallow in it.

A&E’s image is now Anti-American and Anti-Christian. Enjoy your damaged reputation, you GLAAD-loving fascists.

It is very, very damaging that freedom is being destroyed.

        Aww poor hillbillies:)

I can pretty well make a safe bet you complain about “those people” everytime a minority opens his mouth to complain about treatment they receive in this country….

  • Marvin Nelson

They sure as heck lost my viewership after I watch one last episode so that I can note the advertisers, whom I will contact to express my displeasure.

It was a sorry day in America on November 6, 2012, truth be told.

    • Txgirlinnh

      A very sorry day indeed.

Many things died on that day. My belief that Americans will always seek the right path, among others.

The only show I watch on A&E is Bates Motel. Guess from now on I will just have to illegally download it.

  • OLLPOH ~ OurLifeLiberty

Yes sir, Mr. Daniels it is a sad, day. Please hang in there Charlie and we will not let the powers of these people to destroy who we are, nor the Robertson’s! A&E can’t change a man’s love of GOD and country!

  • karmafordems

As only Phil was suspended, the rest of the clan should use the remainder of their shows for the season to hold up a sign saying A&E sucks, holding a gun to the sign, and just staring into the camera. I’d be happy happy happy

  • AmericanMom

Charlie, you may be a celebrity, but you have your brain and your heart right where it should be and we admire that about you. Liberalism is PC behavior designed to squelch opinions other than those of the liberal demanding theirs is the only correct one.

  • H50 ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

The question Ive been asking on twitter all day of A&E supporters and have yet to get an answer to is; So then you would be all right with an employer firing a person who espoused Muslim views that the employer disagreed with?
Or with an employer (an Obama supporter) who fired you because you opted to pay the penalty instead of purchase Obamacare?
Charlies right its a sad day and it is well past time to retire the PC police.

    • Mike Daniels

What happened to Robertson had nothing to do with his First Amendment rights which only prohibits the government from placing restrictions on your free speech. An an employee/representative of A&E (which he was during this interview) Robertson is subject to acting within his employers policies. His comments regarding homosexuality violated those policies ergo his suspension.

What’s funny is that I’m pretty sure Charlie Daniels had no problems with the Dixie Chicks being blacklisted by Clear Channel-owned radio stations when they made a comment that was infinitely less offensive than anything Robertson said.

      • H50 ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Sorry, but I just don’t buy that, its all about the government (prog) agenda, government/CEOs/media/Wall Street are all so incestuous now that the government doesn’t have to go after you directly (although they do…IRS/TP) but their minions will.

People are sick to death of getting punished for using their free speech/free expression of religion, it really doesn’t matter who the source of the punishment is anymore. There is a war on Christianity going on and folks are starting to get that and its pissing them off.

As for the Dixie Chicks, they were blacklisted because they were badmouthing the USA and the POTUS on foreign soil you dunce. In those days when we still had some sense of decorum, that was a big no-no. It wasn’t the label that turned on them it was the fans.

        • Mike Daniels

The only thing the Dixie Chicks said was they were embarrased that Bush was from Texas which only in the world of the GOP would be an attack on the USA much less an attack on the POTUS.

Incidentally, the majority of the opinion of this country including the GOP now believes that Iraq/Afghanistan were major mistakes that were started through flawed/false intelligence so perhaps the Chicks were ahead of their time in their thinking.

FYI Clear Channel didn’t let the stations or fans make up their minds re: airplay. After FOX started their smear campaign Clear Channel issued a directive that banned any of their stations (including ones that were in areas that may have been favorable to the Chicks) from playing their music. By the time of their statement the Chicks weren’t just a country band but had a large base of pop and rock fans who likely would not have been offended by the statement and who would have supported stations keeping them on their play list. However, the RW ownership on Clear Channel didn’t allow them the choice.

          • H50 ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

            Wrong, wrong and wrong.
I remember the incident with clarity of watching the event unfold.
I was a big fan of the Dixie Chicks at the time and was utterly disgusted with their conduct. Fan no more.

          • Dee

If that’s true about clear channel (and I’m not sure it is) then CC is wrong. However, I’ve never not heard those b$tc&es on the local radio, playing their weak cover of Landslide, etc, etc. I’m still hearing their songs once in a blue moon and they’re history. They never were booted off my stations.

  • m’lisa mackinnon

How sad..I live in Marshall Texas which is not all that far from Monroe. My family loves this show….with all the crap that is on TV it is a great family show. You put these people on Television because they are REAL people who just happen to be funny and well off. I mean look you have half naked women, sex and so much violence o TV and you want to exclude HIM of all folks? These are country god loving people who sit down together for supper…I doubt seriously that Duck Dynasty will continue without him, the show would never be the same. These people stick to what the believe not what is just popular to make a buck….shame shame shame onA&e tv

  • Dave O

These are baby steps, things will get much worse as time goes on. What started as political correctness served to be an effective desensitization tactic to what we are witnessing. The lines are blurred when it comes to speaking your opinion on anything and words like “hatred, bigot, insensitive, (insert any negative connotation adjective)” are being used on a nearly monthly basis.

  • billy the kid

If you agree with what he said, than your Bible ( written by man 1000’s of years ago ) and your god are bad.

  • Ben Boorman

Sending my old tired CD albums to the grave yard. Figures… All you haters below calling A&E anti-american, shame on you. The actors all sign a contract and it was violated. The same people here complaining about A&E are quick to complain about any minority saying anything at all disparaging about whites. But as usual, are just one sided bigots!

    • Mike Daniels

You don’t know their contract was violated. Maybe Robertson violated the contract by taking a position that was in opposition to A&E guidelines. He’s an employee of their’s as long as A&E owns the rights to DD.
