Will the Senate pass a resolution to honor the late Margaret Thatcher? Not if Sen. Bob Menendez has anything to say about it.

As the Daily Caller reported yesterday — and National Review’s Ramesh Ponnuru has evidently confirmed — Menendez is responsible for holding up a proposed Senate resolution to “honor the life, legacy, and example of British Prime Minister Baroness Margaret Thatcher.”

Paying tribute to a champion of freedom is apparently just not that important to the priorities-challenged senator.

Really, Senator?

It is — but what else would you expect from a disgrace like Menendez?

Sen. Menendez proposed his own version of a resolution:

Unfortunately for him, the effort didn’t pan out. The resolution in its original language has just passed:

well, when you, yourself have no honor and will die without accolades.
    I can see his reason/sarcasm

Isn’t this the same idiot who has been trying to get term limits for the president eliminated while Obama’s in office?

    • Garth Haycock

No, that’s New York Congressman Jose Serrano, but it’s easy to get them mixed up, as all Democrats act alike to me.

      • Michael Anderson (WB)

To be fair to Serrano, he introduced the same every odd year from 99 to 13, so 4 times while Bush was president as well.

  • kateorjane

Wrong ethnic group for my Senator to be concerned with.

  • daPenguin

he has no interest in Women of a legal age

  • Michael J. Churlin

New Jersey I hope you are proud of such a fine statesman. Then again as a progressive state who’s modern day claim to fame is snooki, and the situation, they are probably proud to oppose one of the finest defenders of freedom from the 20th century. She was after all partially responsible for the downfall of the soviet union, and that must offend all the progressive communist sympathizers that infest the state.

  • Silenttype78

Ahhh…. ok. Well I am going to borrow some lefty logic here and say it is because Menendez hates women.

  • Dennis E. Amnott

Such a disgrace, but perfectly acceptable to all fellow Democrats.

  • Clayton Grant

I don’t think any Republican would have blocked the resolution if Thatcher had been from the Labour Party.

  • SirLancelot70

that’s expect from the democratic party who despise conservatives like Margaret Thatcher & Ronald Reagan when they believe in capitalism & freedom(which liberals despise as well).

  • trixiewoobeans

What a small, small person. So tiny and dirty in his soul.

  • tops116

Well, it is nice to have Menendez story where the words “hooker,” “cover up” and “corruption” aren’t immediately used.

    • trixiewoobeans

Oops, you said that out loud! Lol!

  • $27789750

Man with no honor questions woman with much. Odd that.

    • trixiewoobeans

She frightens him in death just as much as she would have in life! She would have chewed him up and spit him out, and he knows it!

    Menendez is a disgrace.

  • John W.

If Obama and/or Harry Reid truly wanted to see the resolution get approved by the Senate, they could have brought sufficient pressure on Sen Menendez behind the scenes to make it happen. More likely, they didn’t want to see any such resolution passed, so they asked for one of the Dems in the Senate to volunteer to provide a block.

  • Brian Roastbeef

The guy’s a damned sleaze. Can’t somebody just tell him Thatcher was only 15 and get this pushed through?

  • TocksNedlog

  • kim

    unanimous? even Nenendez supported it?

  • TrueCenturian

Why didn’t they just vote on it and read it later? Or was this too important? Hmmm

  • lainer51

I heard he “chased” M.T. when she was in her teens

As a resident of New Jersey I am saddened and ashamed that you represent
my state. You have had enough bad press lately, you can’t possibly
believe this action will endear you to anyone, especially those that
vote in New Jersey. And if you did, you have spent way too much time
    under the wrong sheets!
