So sorry to see this happening America, just like the WTC, many Canadians attend the Boston Marathon annually.

Condolences to the victims & their families….

I’d be more worried about martial law.

I really really hope this is just a horrible accident and not intentional.

    • Revere

Amen to that…but the fact that there were two explosions, at the finish line of the Boston Marathon, tells me this was a planned attack.

      • ZoriahShepard

There goes hope of it being accidental – reports of devices being found…Heavens.

      • darthplumber

You mean, one would possibly be an accident?

        • RblDiver

One could potentially have been a gas leak or something, but the video et al here shows clear terrorist intent.

          • http://www.tonygreene113.com tony greene

That’s right, stick your head in the mud and act like it didn’t happen.

      • bluewaternavy

I’ve heard one explosion on EACH side of the street. Plus, many have said there were ball bearings all over. That screams terror act.

    • Ronin

The picture with the overhead view and all the blood: I don’t notice much shrapnel, and don’t see much in the way of scorch marks. No real indicator on where it came from. Anyone else looking closely?

    • ceemack

The fact that the devices were apparently packed with ball bearings indicates it wasn’t accident.

But we don’t have anywhere near enough facts to know whether this was an act of terrorism, or the work of a domestic nutcase with a grudge.

We should all be careful of jumping to conclusions.

      • William Bacon

“… whether this was an act of terrorism, or the work of a domestic nutcase with a grudge.” IOW, an act of foreign terrorism or an act of domestic terrorism — either way, it was an act of terrorism.

I tried to post this earlier so if it comes through twice, I apologize in advance. I hear a lot of people make the claim you are making and it’s just not accurate. It’s like hearing that Sarah Palin said she could see Alaska from her front porch. Often repeated. Widely believed. Inaccurate.

The Obama administration wanted to use a different moniker for the GWOT and that phrase has largely been phased out. I’m linking to a short piece that goes into a bit more detail.

Where do you get that? It was an obvious act of terrorism. Then again: No one in the administration is claiming otherwise.

          • http://www.tonygreene113.com tony greene

dumb obummer couldn’t bring his cowardly self to call it an act of terrorism. Terrorists could care less about “feeling the weight of justice” – obummer and his staff of dolts are way out of their league…

          • Sons Thunder

Terrorists don’t care about incarceration or death? That’s demonstrably false.

My original point was that you were incorrect in claiming Obama ever said “terrorism is dead.” Now, you’re upset because he didn’t use the word terrorism. I don’t understand how that is anything other than a petty, nit-picking sort of complaint.

Nonsense. He said it last year at the DNC and repeated it on the campaign trail as did his surrogates. He said that now that Bin laden was dead AQ was defeated, the last remnants were on the run and we didn’t have to worry about terrorists anymore.

          • Sons Thunder

He said core AQ leadership in Pakistan had been decimated and AQ was on the run. Do you have a link to him saying AQ was defeated and we no longer have to worry about terrorists?

  • Jon

Looking at the blast image, the buildings around it, and then the straight-on angle after the blast, it appears as if the explosion came out of the building housing the Starbucks, which would be a very open place for people to go into and leave things unattended in an area as crowded as the marathon finish line.

    • darthplumber

If it indeed came from the Starbucks, will Starbucks’ corporate allow Christians to pray for the survivors or only the LGTTS (is that too many T’s, don’t want to offend) pray?

    • 364NKL

They were bombs that were placed in trash cans. It is being reported on Boston Channel 4. There are 2 dead, 24 injured.

      • fivegreatkids

perfect modis operandi of a terrorist. Inflict the most bang for the buck. Always have a secondary device to take out the emergency responders. Luckily Boston EMS is very good and has done a LOT of planning for just such an event. Interesting to see who REALLY ends up being the perps, but have no doubt that the msm will blame the tea party or nra at first. Prayers with the victims and EMS.

        That’s apples and oranges pal.

      • Saar

Good try at trolling, however i dont see myself as a victim, its just cold calculated math to know that your kind will try and use this against us, and its already happening. Every act of violence in America is attributed to us, by you people.

        • lws304

wow you people? you mean fellow countrymen? no? like the people who were killed, or now have to live the rest of their lives without a limb? are you glad that some of those people were liberals? but I guess you feel for the conservatives that were injured. this is what is tearing this country apart, not legislation or policies or who pays more taxes or who gets health care. it is this cancerous hatred.

          • Saar

Feel free to surf the net, all of your favorite liberal blogs, news sites, channels. See how many of them were so quick to finger conservatives as ‘possible’ suspects. I say you people because there is a systematic movement to divide this country, you people are leading it, and we’re forced to react by sticking with our own. By the way your an example of the emotionally driven left, you read into my statement and saw what -you- wanted to -see-, not was actually written. The media is already hard at work to find a connection to tea party “extremists”

    • Sons Thunder

Tea Party members are already hard at work to find a way to feel persecuted.

      • SpinMeNot

c.f. Wolf Blitzer, CNN and the Blogger lady link above. And they are persecuted … look up the definition of the word. Progressive terrorists get teaching positions at major universities with tenure.

Tea Party people get ridiculed and put on government lists as potential terrorists.

        Epic fail on this SoT.

        • Sons Thunder

The blogger lady link is re: Nick Kristof complaining that Senate Republicans have blocked ATF appointment

Wolf Blitzer said “It is a state holiday in Massachusetts today called Patriots’ Day and, uh, who knows if that had anything at all to do with these explosions.”

How exactly do those statements prove the persecution of the Tea Party?

          • Gusmastree

CNN – “For instance, if it was hydrogen peroxide, this is a signature of al-Qaeda. If it was more conventional explosives, which are much harder to get a hold of now, that might be SOME OTHER KIND OF RIGHT-WING EXTREMISTS.”

            http://newsbusters.org/blogs/matt-hadro/2013/04/15/cnn-analyst-suggests-right-wing-extremists-could-be-behind-boston-bombin#ixzz2QZGkklSH

          • Sons Thunder

CNN’s national security analyst says it could be right-wing extremists. I don’t know why you heard “Tea Party” in that statement.

          • SpinMeNot

No, sorry, no right wing extremist is from Saudi Arabia — more deflections.

BTW, the only people that have bombed buildings in the US, plotted to kill as many as 25m Americans in camps after the revolution, etc … were at Ayers house when Obama started his political career.

          • Sons Thunder

I live in Oklahoma City – I have a pretty vivid reminder of some people who bombed buildings in the U.S. who weren’t hanging out with Bill Ayers.

You are the one who is equating “right-wing extremist” with “Tea Party member.”

          • SpinMeNot

And those two guys aren’t with us any more … thank you for helping me to make my point.

No, its not me. Its Michael Moore, Diane Feinstein, Wolf Blitzer, and all the other folks that are making excuses and engaging in innuendo. The cowards don’t have the integrity to just make the statements so that people like you can deny what they doing and claim the right is just paranoid.

            Go peddle your denials elsewhere.

          • Sons Thunder

Terry Nichols is very much alive.

I lean left on a lot of issues but my feelings aren’t hurt when someone describes ELF as a extremist left-wing group.

Tea Party members are a pretty diverse group and there are different chapters. Some of those chapters seem pretty focuses on “watering the tree of liberty.” Comments like that spring up on Twitchy. I don’t think I’m saying anything controversial in making these statements.

You are claiming persecution because of a few statements that didn’t even mention the Tea Party. The funny part is the first leaked information gaining any notice is the Saudi national person of interest. That kind of destroys the narrative of the media pointing the finger at the Tea Party.

          • SpinMeNot

Yes, I must say you got me on Nichols — waste of skin is still alive, I thought we’d gotten rid of both those bastards.

They did mention the tea party, if not by name, by reference. And Matthews and others continued it today.

          • Sons Thunder

And you mentioned Reggie Love for some reason but then cried that I was projecting when I made the reference you obviously wanted made.

For what it’s worth – if you are watching cable news all day, you are pretty much the definition of a low-info voter. Sitting around hoping for Wolf Blitzer, Megyn Kelly and Chris Matthews to say anything worthwhile is a fool’s errand. Why are you surprised or outraged when they say something stupid?

          • SpinMeNot

Watching cable news all day? No, my choice of television is usually Netflix. Where in this thread have I mentioned Reggie Love? I made a snide remark in another thread unrelated to this conversation.

With regard to your slanderous insinuation of me be a closet, self denying homosexual, nice try there junior. You’ve now sunk to the level of ad hominen attacks and you don’t have the courage to come out and just say it. And you have to draw on a purposefully snarky remark I made about that deceitful son-of-a-bitch in the WH to do it.

Apparently I did it a hit nerve. And congratulations, you are the 2nd liberal progressive puke I’ve encountered on this site that actually fooled me into thinking they might be reasonable.

You’ve officially been demoted to useful idiot.

          • Sons Thunder

LOL – I never implied you are gay. I wouldn’t care if you were. You made that comment about Obama and Reggie Love. When I called you out for calling Obama a closeted homosexual, you cried ‘projection’ and claimed that wasn’t your intent. I have the courage to say what I mean. It was you that ran away from your true meanings when confronted.

The blog lady is repeating the “narrative”.

Feinstein has chimed in with “could be foreign, could be home grown”. The guy is a Saudi National.

The President’s statement didn’t mention terrorism or Islamic extremism in his statement.

Both Feinstein and the President spoke after the news was released by Boston PD as to who the bomber was and how he did it.

They are deflecting. Media attempting to elude that it was the right, etc etc.

Deny all you want — we understand that you lefties never acknowledge your own biases.

          • Sons Thunder

A local CBS station and the New York Post are saying the police are interested in a Saudi national and you are upset the president didn’t talk about Islamic extremism? I can’t imagine why you would want him to do something so irresponsible. You are saying the Boston PD is certain of the bomber and his method of attack. Who is reporting that?

It could have been foreign or domestic terrorism. How is that a controversial statement?

Patriot’s Day is a holiday commemorating Concord and Lexington.

And finally – persecution entails an ongoing hostility and/or intimidation. A passing comment by Wolf Blitzer in the form of a question was answered as a hypothetical and no one ever said “Tea Party.” That is your evidence for claiming persecution?

          • SpinMeNot

No, I never said Islamic Extremism — I said terrorism. No, my evidence is Blitzer, and Matthews, and Al Sharpton’s Producer, and Barney Frank, and … and … and.
