In the midst of chaos and horror, the human spirit will triumph.

The Red Cross has apparently been overwhelmed with donation offers:

Wonderful.

Amazing: Boston Marathoners reportedly run to hospital to donate blood

    Right on!!!

With all due respect, as a runner of 38 years, I wouldn’t expect them to do anything less.

Perhaps, but it is still heartwarming to see one’s fellow men and women selflessly coming to their aid. Still makes me proud.

I don’t disagree. It’s the honorable thing to do. I am proud of them. I would be disappointed with anything less. If you don’t have honor, you have nothing.

As much as their hearts are in the right place, I don’t know if it’s a great idea for the runners to donate blood right after running a marathon. Their blood is probably screwed up from the effects of running a marathon.

Seems like that’s the only time when people will donate blood. What about the other 364 days of the year?

Too soon after the last time. When the mobile blood bank comes to work there’s a line to give blood.
