If something seems to be too good to be true, it probably is. That’s certainly turned out to be the case for Beyoncé’s rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” at President Obama’s re-coronation ceremony yesterday:

Nooooooooo! Some Twitterers are indeed disappointed at the news that Sasha may not be as fierce as she wants us to believe:

https://twitter.com/NicoleNicee/status/293768365745528833

Others aren’t nearly so scandalized:

Seriously. It could have been so much worse:

But when you stop and think about it, what’s the big deal, really? We should be used to this sort of thing by now:

Ain’t that the truth.

Meanwhile, there are plenty of bigger fish to fry:

All that deserves a bit more of our outrage, don’t you think?

Update:

Sadly, some Twitter users are upset about Beyoncé’s “lip singing.” Yes, lip singing.

“An FYI on the Beyonce lip-syncing speculation: a lot of singers do not
like to sing live when it’s that cold. Really hard on the throat.”

She couldn’t even make that little of a sacrifice for her country and her King?

    • http://twitter.com/equaltreatment Elaine

PS: This is hilarious! “LAP-synced”? haha
      [email protected]
We all know Beyonce has a stellar voice. The fact that she lap-synced the anthem doesn’t matter.

    • Agent_Zeero

It wasn’t all that cold. It was colder at Barry’s first inauguration and people managed to sing live

  • GTFOBigGovt

As an Adam Lambert fan I pay attention to these things and thought the same thing. She is only an average singer at best and even yesterday’s taped performance shows her inability to really sustain notes and her weak runs I can live without.

While Kelly Clarkson was drowned out on certain phrases by the LIVE band, Beyonce was curiously perfect in that regard. In fact “the white girl” Clarkson got a boat load of Twitter crap for it. (see Twitchy’s post).

For a composite President, a composite starring singer seems about right.

    • peteee363

first, i would never admit to being a lambert fan in public. second a composite singer would have been much better with fake greek foam decorations.

      • GTFOBigGovt

Why would I give a rat’s ass about what some anon on the internet thinks about my fandom choices? I don’t even care about RL people’s opinions.

Meanwhile, congrats on your limited world view of “acceptable” humans. Enjoy watching 2014 and 2016 while Rove, Kristol, Noonan and other institutional RINOS destroy any chance at having strong candidates succeed. Again.

One of Lambert’s simple live a capella renditions at a Marine base: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hj2F5xvGYE

and another showier one at an ADL event: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlhlgJ1pQxo

          • http://twitter.com/jimni27 Jimni27

Not even ashamed to admit I know where both of those NA’s were performed 😉 Might be ashamed to admit how many times in the past I have watched them.

        • peteee363

he is not a great singer, so i will dream all i want. freddie mercury was a great singer, and yes he was gay, but his music sold me, not his lifestyle. also, i do not subscribe to any of the pundits you mention, they are all rino’s, and not conservatives.

    • http://twitter.com/jimni27 Jimni27

I’m a huge Lambert fan too :) No better live singer on the planet, despite what peteee says 😛 Unless you have heard him sing live, you have no clue.

      • peteee363

i have heard great singers before, and none of them needed american idol to start thier career. some of the best singers in music would never have been considered for ai, such as mama cass, or janis joplin. so dream on about lambert and his alternative lifestyle.

        • http://twitter.com/jimni27 Jimni27

So there have not been any great live singers in the past 40 years? Lol. I would love to argue this all day but don’t want to waste any more time arguing with a bigot- and BTW- Freddie never admitted he was gay until the day before he died, so I don’t really know how his “alternative lifestyle” (rolls eyes) could have sold you or not.

          • peteee363

i didn’t say that, there are quite a few, like adele, like alison moyet, but history will not be kind to lambert, trust me on this. and yes freddie did not brag about taking it up the tailpipe, he just sang. i do not need to know the sexual life of a performer, it is not my business, or does not add to the music. roll your eyes all you want, but once a performer “outs” themself, it does not lend itself to just judging the music for it’s value. also on freddie, in hindsight, watching clips of him, one has to say how did anybody not know he was light in the loafers? and the absolute best live performer i have ever seen live was bjork, she blows away any live performance i have ever seen!

  • Peyton

I’d like it to be known that I’m the first person to label this controversy #SyncGate!

  • peteee363

she is not any good live, or on a record, so who cares? she ruined cadillac records with her terrible performance as a great etta james. but the guy who played howlin wolf sang better then wolf ever did.

  • http://twitter.com/thetugboatphil TugboatPhil

Lip synching a song is a disgrace?

No, sending over 2000 illegal rifles to Mexico, for use by drug cartels to assassinate a US Border Patrol Agent and hundreds of Mexican citizens and then lying about it is a disgrace.

Receiving numerous calls from your embassy in Libya for a military rescue during an hours long Al Qaeda assault, watching it on live video feed from drone overhead and ordering nearby military assets to stand down until 4 Americans are executed is a disgrace.

And willfully denying that the man you elected is purposely implementing policy and regulations without Congressional approval which are keeping our economy in a downward spiral and devaluing the national currency daily is a MFing DISGRACE!

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002109532283 Jillane Kent

I thought it was more of a disgrace for Beyonce and Jay Z to be paid 2 million to perform for Gadaffi’s equally as despotic son’s birthday party…

      • http://twitter.com/thetugboatphil TugboatPhil

Great memory! I’d forgotten all about that.

      • http://twitter.com/equaltreatment Elaine

After all these HATERS made fun of and attacked the “white” singers, we find out this? More hypocrisy.

  • http://twitter.com/jimni27 Jimni27

Whitney Houston lipsynced the 91 National Anthem for the Super Bowl- not a lot of people are aware of that. It’s common practice to have a pre recording when singing there.

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002109532283 Jillane Kent

Yet two other singers (neither of whom I particularly like) managed to sing live.

      • http://twitter.com/jimni27 Jimni27

A few of them do, but most of them pre- record. Beyoncé I agree does not have the chops to pull it off.

    • GTFOBigGovt

At the Super Bowl, yes, at the Inauguration, no. The coordinator even said so.

      • http://twitter.com/jimni27 Jimni27

I just mentioned the SB because a lot of people on Twitter are saying she is “no Whitney Houston”.

I support Beyonce Knowles. These comments Peter king’s comments are typical hatred of a successful black lady, just signed the biggest endorsement deal in Pepsi history. Spoken negatively by people that say be sympathetic to a $600 an hour w—e. By people that pretend to defend Stacey Dash against racism.

    • http://twitter.com/thetugboatphil TugboatPhil

I’m sure you were also supportive of Condoleeza Rice for her accomplishments. Although since she didn’t make a lot of money, you no doubt consider her a failure.

      • michael s

I will admit I spoke harshly of sec of state Rice. I made a promise not to speak ill of her again. I regret thinking theCondosleeza comment was funny. No more.

        • $1014973

So your mock outrage about this issue is a complete and utter farce? Thanks for clearing that up sugar.

    • http://twitter.com/jimni27 Jimni27

Oh come on with the race card. Beyoncé is a crappy studio created singer. Almost all the ones you hear on the radio today are- Katy Perry, and the worst of the worst- Britney- IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE. Having said that- love Single Ladies and a few others by her- as long as I don’t have to hear her live. She is a phenomenal performer, though.

    • peteee363

i know i won’t buy pepsi products, with or without that talentless hack!

  • Em Zee

I really can’t believe this is causing such a fuss, especially since
Beyonce Instagrammed pictures of herself in the studio recording the
track. It wasn’t a secret. And anyone who says their “favorite” doesn’t
ever use a pre-recorded track is just biased. I hope no one is naive
enough to believe that artists are able to tour globally and sing 100%
live each and every show. Also, ever since the Garth Brooks incident in
’93, most singers are contractually obligated to pre-record a vocal in
instances such as these (i.e. Super Bowl, Inauguration, NBA Finals,
World Series, etc). Beyonce has proven her ability countless times.

And how soon we forget that Whitney lip-synced at the Super Bowl.

    • Moonbeam

      Exactly! Geez!

    • michael s

They were all wrong. I defended Stacey Dash many times. She didn’t deserve house n,die b die and all the vile racist things said. She supported Romney and that was fine with me. Also Romney got more of the black vote than McCain. So she wasn’t alone.

      • michael s

        this post was for macombmann

    • Agent_Zeero

I think Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Bono would disagree with you

      • Em Zee

You must have missed Paul McCartney’s Super Bowl performance. Pre-recorded vocals were used. The producers require it. Some parts were live, others used the recording. It doesn’t take away from their talent, it just means the sound engineers are talented as well.

    • $36544368

The only pre-recording I’ve ever done was my own backup vocals on a track for a CD. I always sang my solos live. But then I never played to venues like the Super Bowl, etc.

  • rant stocks

Everything about these liberals is fake,a fake adminstration, the ones that showed up for the party fake.Pot was widespred and zero dignity. Disgusting display of gussing over Obama as Murder Inc.

  • http://profile.yahoo.com/DL4AEVMNNXTS7A2EHW6B5KOHSY REO

No! It is about people who have embraced a campaign favoring a Boycott of the National Anthem. An effective always angry anti American desire to take Obama’s transformation to a new level. Really angry folks who will be blaming others for their plight for decades to come, so long has the handouts continue. I mean why not, give it to me has become a successful business model, a way of life as it is. Would you be in a hurry to say take some individual responsibility v sitting around blaming others.

  • $129448

overrated. Her voice is crap she can’t sing live.

  • $36544368

Dana Loesch’s Tweet – “An FYI on the Beyonce lip-syncing speculation: a lot of singers do not like to sing live when it’s that cold. Really hard on the throat.”….uh Dana? Having been a professional singer for almost 25 years, I can tell you that it’s not that hard on the throat…there are vocal exercises you can do to ‘warm up’…I’ve sung solos (with and without microphones), and done recordings in cool weather, very cold weather, rainy weather, windy weather, hot weather, dry weather, indoors, outdoors…you drink room temperature water, you don’t scream, you breathe correctly, do your vocal warm ups, and you’ll do fine…it’s not like she was doing a whole concert, for Pete’s sake…for the money she’s paid, you’d think she could get through a song without the whole lip-sync trick…/smh

  • J.N. Ashby

If a Democrat actually sang the National Anthem it’d be “Gosudarstvenny Gimn SSSR”
