President Obama’s inauguration is coming up, and the Smithsonian Institution busted out some trivia to commemorate the occasion. Unfortunately, the featured historical nugget was a bit dark:

They couldn’t’ve come up with something a little less … morbid?

To their credit, they did delete the original tweet and replace it — with one containing the correct link:

Yeesh.

Second Terms tend to be the Star Wars prequels of Presidential Administrations; here’s praying that the pattern holds.

  • carla5731

    William Henry Harrison

    • Karl Morey

I knew the answer, too–didn’t have to click the link. Yay for useless trivia!

    • shimauma

I had to look it up, I could only remember that he died in 30 days

It was his own fault — he refused to wear a coat.

      • LordElrond09

His speech blathered on too, for about 8000 words apparently

  • TheKingJAK

I received both on my phone. You have to love the Smithsonian, a great institution who cares more about their respective fields than political correctness.

  • Teresa Davis McCormick

Must have been some speech. lol

    • Infinite_Indeterminism

Wikipedia puts it at almost two hours to read – and that’s _after_ editing for length!

Isn’t it the Smithsonian Institute, not ‘institution’?

Nevermind. I suppose it is… I’ve always heard Institute. Carry on, nothing to see here.

    • nc

I wasn’t sure either so I looked it up. It’s the Smithsonian Institution all right, but they seem to prefer going by their “first name” only, the Smithsonian.

  • ceemack

What’s the weather forecast for DC on Monday?

    • Let’em Crash

Obama said warmer weather than last one if he got elected (not making this up).

Someone must have left Bones in charge of the Twitter today.

  • LordElrond09

I think it was William Henry Harrison?

  • RightThinking1

Inaugural speeches don’t kill Presidents, germs kill Presidents.
If inaugural speeches actually DID kill Presidents, the Potomac would be afloat with bodies.

    • Psalmist1972

We need legislation requiring Presidents to turn in their inaugural addresses obviously.

  • BeeKaaay

    Yup. Definitely morbid. That’s leftwingwackoism.
