As Twitchy reported, Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor denied Christian-owned Hobby Lobby an injunction to block Obamacare’s contraception mandate. Businesses in violation of the mandate face heavy fines, but that’s a price Hobby Lobby’s owners are willing to pay in order to stand up for their beliefs.

Kyle Duncan, who is representing Hobby Lobby on behalf of the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, said in a statement posted on the group’s website Thursday that Hobby Lobby doesn’t intend to offer its employees insurance that would cover the drug while its lawsuit is pending.

“The company will continue to provide health insurance to all qualified employees,” Duncan said. “To remain true to their faith, it is not their intention, as a company, to pay for abortion-inducing drugs.”

Some lefties are outraged at Hobby Lobby’s defiance:

We imagine Sandra Fluke is just beside herself.

But many Twitterers are voicing their support:

Some also noted the Left’s hypocrisy when it comes to breaking the law:

We thought so, too. Yet nary a peep from the Left about David Gregory’s crime, other than to defend it.

As a conservative, regardless of how I feel about Obamacare, I believe the law is the law until it is repealed. Therefore, Hobby Lobby should be fined until they get a temporary injunction while the case works its way to the Supreme Court. (Justice Sotomayor denied an emergency injunction, by the way. How nice.) That’s the law. Liberals undoubtedly agree with me regarding Hobby Lobby, but they don’t when it comes to David Gregory. Of course, anyone else who breaks DC gun laws should be prosecuted, if you ask those same liberals. Just not David Gregory because he was making a point. Like Hobby Lobby. But that’s different, they’ll say.

How? How is it different? Both are cases where the law is being broken. I thought liberals were all about “fairness.” Where’s the fairness when Hobby Lobby has to pay 1.3 million dollars PER DAY to prove a point and David Gregory doesn’t even have a charge pending against him? And no, the ATF isn’t allowed to waive DC gun laws.

So, by arguing that Gregory shouldn’t even be investigated, let alone prosecuted, liberals are saying that they get to decide which laws should be enforced. They are basically saying that the law is only relevant when they say it is. If that’s the case, the law has no meaning. And yet they’ll be the first to propose new laws that must be followed for the greater good, until they decide it can be broken to make a point.

Bingo. To the Left, the law only applies when it operates against conservatives. But equality before the law means everyone is accountable for their actions. Hobby Lobby is willing to accept the consequences; time for liberal lawbreakers to do the same.

Best of luck to Hobby Lobby.

Kudosto hobby lobby. don’t back down to those liberal bullies.

This Sotomayor decision horrifies me, that she would allow such a punishment to a company for simply following their deeply held religious beliefs. This is the same person who testified that Muslim prisoners should be allowed culturally appropriate meals during her confirmation hearings.

  • mickeyco

Wish I were a crafter. I’ll find somethings to buy at Hobby Lobby on fairly regular basis. My d-in-law is one of their best customers.

    • aegean1

They also sell home decor, candles, some party and gift wrapping supplies…hmm, what else? I LOVE going to Hobby Lobby. Maybe a little too much..

    • Netmilsmom

They have some of the best Airplane models I have ever seen.

  • BeyondPolls

Hm. How would liberals act if a Muslim organization was forced to do something against the religion?

    • Zanshi

I believe Muslims are exempt from Obamacare’s anti-religious mandates.

  • Booker

And yet they’ll be the first to propose new laws that must be followed
for the greater good, until they decide it can be broken to make a

Statism in one sentence. Rule of law be damned.

  • Penmar

I feel the need to go shopping at Hobby Lobby.

    • Netmilsmom

I have thirty flower crowns to make before May. I was going to wait a bit before I bought the materials. On January 2, I will drop big bucks at Hobby Lobby.

  • George Washington Mclintock

Ignore it, and I don’t care what kind of accounting tricks they have to pull, don’t give one dime to the govt if you can avoid it.

People still believe that the morning after pill is an abortion? Wow. Hobby Lobby deserves the fine it’s getting. Stupidity is expensive.”

In this person’s bio, is a claim to be Christian. I suppose only when it suits them?

    • mzjamiedawn

I’m a Christian. I am ok with the morning after pill. She is correct, the morning after pill does NOT abort. It is contraception, not abortion. People need to do some research before judging. I LOVE Hobby Lobby. I go there often, and will continue to do so. However, I do not understand their need to do this, since it is just contraception, not abortion. If they don’t want to pay for contraception, then say so, but don’t call it abortion when it is not.

      • Maggie

The morning after pill prevents a newly formed human being from attaching to the uterine lining and thus is terminated: an abortifacient.

      • Catchance

If the egg has been fertilized and is heading down the fallopian tube, a process which takes about 3 days, the Plan B pill will prevent its attachment to the uterus. That is why it is known as an ‘abortafacient’.

    God be with Hobby Loby

  • Hello Jerry (D)

    • mickeyco

      You can shop them online.

  • Frustrated Teacher

My family just discovered a Hobby Lobby not too far away. Guess we will be going there as much as we can afford in the future!

  • Maggie

Thank God someone will stand up to the dictator government trying to force immoral, intrinsic evils on people of faith and conscience. May many more do the same.
And, yes, the so called morning after pill is indeed an abortifacient in some cases. Wise up.

  • michael s

you’re surprised David Gregory hasn’t been charged for breaking the law? i’m not . white men get away with this all the time. goes back to what i said about justice being partisan.

    • Shawn Smith

Screw your racism charges. Liberals have abused that word to the point of being entirely meaningless. If a liberal told me the KKK was racist, I’d have to take a minute to reconsider my previous understanding of the group.

Come back when you have an actual argument you pathetic twit.

  • GaryTheBrave

I thought there was a proviso in the Constitution against overly harsh punishment. $1,300,000 per day is both cruel and unusual.
