As Twitchy readers are well aware, we’re not the kind of people to shy away from calling media lapdogs out on their left-wing bias. We’re also not afraid to give credit where credit is due. Today, journalist Howard Kurtz wrote a post decrying the disgusting hate tweets and death wishes directed at George H.W. Bush:

I’m glad to hear a spokesman for George H.W. Bush say that we should put the harps away and stop with the advance obits, he’s going to be fine.

But when things looked grim as the 41st president was moved to an intensive care unit in Houston, a wave of pure hatred was unleashed online.

Bush’s single term hardly made him a great president; he had few domestic accomplishments and the economy tanked on his watch. But even if you think he was a terrible president, what explains the sickness of wishing a painful death on an old man?

It’s refreshing to see a liberal journalist admit when his ideological comrades have gone too far. While Kurtz still has a ways to go when it comes to holding the Left accountable, we can certainly appreciate his taking a stand for decency.

Others agree:

In his post, Kurtz highlighted Twitchy for documenting the Bush hate. We are committed to shining a light on the true nature of leftism that most in the media are unwilling to acknowledge.

Kurtz seemed genuinely shocked by the filth he saw, and rightly so. We hope he’ll continue to keep at least one eye open to liberal hatred.

If Howard Kurtz read Twitchy at least once a week (not several times a day like us Twitchy addicts do) his eyes would be WIDE OPEN. Like TOOTHPICKS wide open.

      “A Clockwork Orange” wide open?

You sound like a person who would 100% support a website or television network without any skepticism whatsoever. I see comments like these on Iran’s Press TV.

What about the hate and death threats that were/are regularly directed at G.W.? Do those qualify as sickening as well, Howard? Something tells me his moral outrage is selective.

Howie spends too much time inside the Liberal cocoon of DC and hasn’t a clue what life outside his circle of sycophants is like. He thinks his world view is normal – that of the everyman Joe 6-pack in flyover country. Newsflash Howie: it’s not.

It is nice to see he’s at least been a little enlightened by this…

The corrupt media have much to do with this. Just look at how they skewed/corrupt the news and history, gang up, and denigrate Conservatives/Republicans, or those who do not share their opinion in every interview. I strongly believe that leftism is a mental disease, which also activate hate and degenerate part of the brain responsible for logical thinking. When logic or reason declines, hate ramps up.

I’m relieved to know Kurtz isn’t as low as I thought he was. It gives me hope.

Ironically, George H.W. Bush was no conservative at all and frankly was rather liberal.
