As Twitchy reported, rather than mourning the lives brutally snuffed out in the Newtown massacre, a group of sickos targeted the NRA with verbal abuse and death threats. One of those sickos, John Cobarruvias, called for NRA members to be shot:

Screen Shot 2012-12-18 at 12.23.55 PM

And labeled the NRA a terrorist organization:

https://twitter.com/BayAreaHouston/statuses/279712979375759360

Over the past several days, he’s continued to rail against gun rights advocates:

https://twitter.com/BayAreaHouston/status/279724735925977088

https://twitter.com/BayAreaHouston/status/280344258882449408

https://twitter.com/BayAreaHouston/status/280347773319147520

https://twitter.com/BayAreaHouston/status/280356282454663169

“Terror baby”? That’s a pretty jackassy thing to say. But Cobarruvias isn’t just any ordinary jackass. He also happens to be a Democratic Party precinct chair in Houston, Texas, and sits on the Texas State Democratic Party’s Executive Committee (it seems was also suspended by NASA in 2008 for violating the Hatch Act). Evidently, his prominent political position widened the scope of the spotlight that we shined on his filth just a little too much for his liking. He has deleted his tweet advocating shooting NRA members and apologized for getting “emotional.” But is he truly sorry for saying what he said, or just sorry he got caught?

He wrote this yesterday on his blog:

One thing is for sure, while we are working up the courage to forget this horrible stain on the soul of this country, the NRA and their simple minded minions will be preparing for battle to protect the profits of the gun industry and every right wing, gun nut, wacko’s right to have every imaginable gun firmly planted in their hands regardless of their state of mind.

Members of Congress, shivering with fear at the sight of the NRA, will repeat the simple minded talking points of “Guns don’t kill children”, “We need to enforce the laws we have on the books”, “If only we had more guns!” just like they have done every time we had a massacre. And in the end, with the support of the American people, they will do nothing.

His Twitter apology came shortly thereafter. But what he wrote in his post sure doesn’t sound like the musings of a man who feels guilty for threatening the NRA. Other Twitterers aren’t buying his apology:

It must be great to be a dem. You can say anything, do anything (assaulting someone on TV) and accuse anyone of anything and no one will hold you accountable. And more often than not the MSM will not only cover for you, they will even “fact-check” lies into truth.

    • Finrod Felagund

Just last week the meme started to go around to put (D) after your name because that means you can say and do anything and you’ll never be held accountable.

Another left-wing idiot whose favorite attack is to demonize those he disagrees with as ignorant idiots. Notice he never offers any evidence to support his positions, he just characterizes EVERYONE who owns a gun or supports the 2nd amendment as ‘simple-minded minions’ and ‘right-wing, gun nut, wackos’. Sorry to disappoint this lib, but most of the smartest people I know (and no, idiot, I actually hang with intelligent people…not progs) are pro-gun. The reason….the FACTS show that armed societies are generally the safest. Unarmed people are what we call ‘victims’. The NRA did not cause the massacre and to insinuate that they did is disingenuous at best. Calling for violence against them removes any shred of moral authority that they ‘think’ they ever had.

I asked him if he was sorry for his disgusting behavior or because he got caught making threats. Of course, there was no reply. What a coward – he can’t – or won’t- take ownership for his actions.

  • kenai

Democrats proposed and passed the ‘Shooting gallery for lunatics’ aka the ‘Gun free school zone’ law and now want to kill NRA members because Lanza the wacko took them up on their offer and murdered 20 children and 7 adults. Sounds progressive to me.

  • michael s

John Corrabuvias is a Democrat , the NRA was founded by a Democrat.

  • Steve White

“My apologies to those I offended” is NOT an apology.

After all, if I wasn’t offended, is he still sorry?

Apologies are never conditional. He’s either sorry for what he said or he isn’t.

    • Jim McLarey

The English language has been destroyed by the libs over the years. I think you know, Steve, to the liberals a word means whatever they say the word means….to hell with the dictionary. Besides, like you say, he is NOT sorry. What people say BEFORE the criticism starts is always how they really feel.

Cobarruvius lives in the Clear Lake are, south of Houston. Congressmen representing his area include: Ron Paul, Pete Olson, Steve Stockman and Louis Gohmert, all lifetime NRA members. Was the threat directed at them? Isn’t that a federal offense? And let’s not forget John Cornyn and Ted Cruz. And Gov. Rick Perry.

    • WORSEKarma

Remember, Eric, death threats posted by Leftists are “just rhetoric”. But if a Conservative publishes a pamphlet with a cross-hair on it, she’s “fostering a climate of hate and threatening the lives of innocent Americans”.

Let me get this straight. While denouncing the killing of innocents in Connecticut he promotes the killing of others throughout the country. Am I missing something?

  • Saddlebum

I don’t like the NRA, but not for those reasons. The NRA insisted on endorsing Harry Reid and Joe Manchin in the elections instead of endorsing the pro-gun Republicans, and gave them an ‘A’ rating. And just as I and many others predicted, Manchin is now beating the drum for an assault weapons ban, and heck, we all know Dirty Harry. Thanks, NRA, for helping the anti-Constitutional Dems and throwing your members and others under the bus. As far as this moron bad mouthing the NRA, who cares. Who even notices anymore because it’s so common these days coming from the left. I don’t even care whether or not he apologized. I just wish the big mouth left would try to make good on their threats. Let the shooting begin! Lets just get it over with already. I’m sick of hearing about it!! Stupid sissys……

  • $34392870

He called the NRA a terrorist organization, and people think this is wrong? The right’s reaction to Newtown has been a mix of “Don’t take my guns!” and “Everyone should arm themselves!” Speaking to the latter point, if someone tells me that I need to pack heat just to feel safe in America today, then I’ll reply that the purported need to walk around armed at all times isn’t the America that I grew up in. That’s an America where citizens are terrified. That’s also the America that the NRA seemingly wants — an America living under the cloak of terror, where everyone should be on guard in case someone, whose right to be armed they supported, tries to shoot me.

So, if the NRA’s goal is to instill terror among the populace, would it be logical to call them a “terrorist organization”? What’s wrong with the rhetoric besides how it offends the suddenly delicate sensibilities of paranoid cowards-cum-gun owners?

    • Michael Rice

He did not only call them a terrorist organization he called for them to be shot. Lovely how you glossed over that.
We feel we need guns because we are terroized by what is going on in America. That does not make us a terror organization.
We do not support criminals being armed, moron. If you ban us from owning guns, only criminals will have them. THen when that criminal tries to car jack you or breaks into your house, you can’t defend yourselve…and neither can the hero neighbor who would have had a gun but couldn’t because of your need to disarm everyone except the criminals.
The elft’s only suggestion are more gun control. Criminals do nto obey laws. Chicago outlawed guns and the murder rate skyrocketed.
The assault rifle ban did nothing to decrease murder, yet the left wants it back….Cowards…hahah good one.
You got one thign right, this is not the Ameirca you grew up in. Your leftists buddies have killed that America.
An armed America is an America no longer afraid.
If you are brave, elt us have our guns and you walk around without one. I guarantee none of us are going to hurt you. I also guarantee taking our guns will not make you safer.

    • 1GregM

It’s absolutely terrifying to believe there are people like you who walk around in polite society and even worse vote. Are you really that ignorant or are you just a poor example of a desperate dem shill?

  • Michael Rice

It is people like this idiot that shows why we NEED guns, to protect ourselves from idiots who want to kill people who have done nothing wrong.
People who let theri emotions get the best of them our dangerous.
Resign now, please and spare the great state of Texas further embarassment.
It is morons like you who prevent any meaningful discussion on how to prevent these types of tragedies.
You should be aplogizing top teh familes of Newtown for using teh death of their children as an excuse to act like a jackass.

  • Andy Trimble

I forgive him, but he wasn’t apologizing to me, or the NRA, or anyone who supports them. He was apologizing to democrats and liberal wingnuts everywhere for making them look bad.

What I find interesting is that he is all for the shooting of the NRA and its supporters. But he doesn’t own a gun, apparently, so who would shoot us? Why, someone besides him, of course. Dems always hire someone else to carry out their despicable ideas.

    • AMSilver

You can’t actually forgive someone who isn’t really sorry. Forgiveness is for those who recognize they were wrong and do their best to make the situation better and never repeat the harmful action. If you ‘forgive’ someone who doesn’t really think they were wrong and doesn’t intend to change their ways, all you are doing is excusing evil.

  • kds

He needs to be removed and fined for publicly calling for the death of persons he does not know. Is this not a reason that he should be accountable for?

Through John Cobarruvias comes the true mentality of liberal types. He wants responsible gun owners shot and killed just because of the actions of an unhinged young punk in Newtown (who, incidentally, benefitted more from the gun control laws liberals favor than law-abiding gun owners ever would)? This is why more and more people are coming to see liberalism for what it is, a mental disorder.
