Did we say psyched? Actress and A is For… co-founder Martha Plimpton is beyond psyched.
“Heartless, soulless animals”? Not so fast, Cher.
Remember Todd Akin and his “legitimate rape” remarks? Or Rep. Phil Gingrey? Or Richard Mourdock’s misconstrued comments about children conceived during rape? The mainstream media ensured that we’d never forget. And as Twitchy reported, Colorado State Rep. Joe Salazar is now finding himself in a similar situation after his insulting trivialization of rape and his […]
Anything to give cover to fellow progressives.
As Twitchy reported, Gayle Trotter of the Independent Women’s Forum sent progressive heads into a spin today by testifying that “guns make women safer” and “are the great equalizer during a violent confrontation.” That particular form of female empowerment didn’t sit well with onlookers who don’t like the idea of a woman behind the trigger of […]
Perhaps what Kellyanne Conway really wants to say (but wont because she doesn’t want to alienate pro-lifers) is that pro-life Republicans should moderate their position on abortion. Talking less about rape has nothing to do with it.
As Twitchy reported, last week, GOP Rep. Phil Gingrey foolishly gave credence to Todd Akin’s thoughts on “legitimate rape.” Shocking perhaps only to Gingrey, people didn’t take kindly to the remarks — and it seems that he didn’t take kindly to their criticism. Twitterers hoping to peruse more of his thoughts on the female reproductive […]
Is this the “perfect storm” of Twitter? The combined irresistible force of model Chrissy Teigen and TV host Jenny Johnson is butting up against the immovable object that is singer Chris Brown’s “Team Breezy” fan base. Will the president do a flyover to assess the damage?
Parody site The Daily Currant managed to fool a few readers in August with its scoop regarding Todd Akin’s “homosexuality cure.” People who wanted it to be true didn’t bother checking the source before retweeting the news, and this Christmas, they were anxious to share news that Fox News host Bill O’Reilly had taken his […]
It’s on, tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. It has been a while, hasn’t it? It seems like it was only August when President Obama shocked the White House press corps by stopping by to answer a question or two, inspiring ABC’s Jake Tapper to call after the press’ “special guest,” “Don’t be a stranger!” as he left […]
What were unhinged Obama cultists Cher and Kathy Griffin doing together when Griffin thought, “Fk bitch ur Dumb”? If Cher is to be believed, they were recording public service announcements for President Obama. Are we talking “drugs are bad, mmkay”-style PSAs? Or did the Obama campaign actually recruit anti-Mormon bigot Cher for campaign spots? As with all […]
Public Policy Polling, a left-leaning polling company, released a new poll tonight showing Democrat Sen. Claire McCaskill leading Republican Rep. Todd Akin in Missouri’s Senate race, 46-40. Eight percent of respondents were undecided, and those voters are overwhelmingly Republican-leaning. If most of the undecideds end up casting their votes for Akin, this race will be […]
If there’s any one person on the planet who scares Ann Coulter, we doubt it’s Piers Morgan. Morgan should be getting used to guests bailing on him: Rep. Todd Akin introduced Morgan to the empty chair weeks before Eastwood’s routine, and Kelsey Grammer recently bolted from the green room while the show was in progress. […]
The GOP all but abandoned Missouri Rep. Todd Akin following his “legitimate rape” comments last month, but Akin has stayed in the race and yesterday faced off against Sen. Claire McCaskill in their first debate. While conservatives distanced themselves from Akin’s statement, the approach of Election Day reminds many that while Akin’s interview is a thing […]
We’ve known for a while that actress Martha Plimpton hearts abortion. Apparently, she and some of her fellow Julias decided that it was high time to parlay that love into something more. Enter A is For…: A is For is a campaign challenging the traditional meaning of the scarlet letter by encouraging women, and the men who support them, […]
There was plenty of applause for Planned Parenthood and its president Cecile Richards Wednesday night at the DNC, and boos for Mitt Romney and his plan to “get rid of Planned Parenthood” and repeal Roe v. Wade. “Why are we having to fight in 2012 against politicians who want to end access to birth control?” […]

Jay Leno set out to carry the progressive sisterhood’s water on “The Tonight Show” Monday night. Unfortunately for Jay, the awesome Dennis Miller was there to tip his bucket.
So, what path does one take to get to the idea that Republican men are defending rape? Sophia Bush seems to have been set off by a Huffington Post piece inspired by a YouTube video titled, “Paul Ryan: Rape Is Just Another ‘Method Of Conception’.” Paul Ryan called rape a "METHOD OF CONCEPTION" & NO news […]
Rep. Akin to hold press conference this afternoon; Mock speculation begins; ‘We’re going to be here to win’
Rep. Akin has repeatedly said that he is staying in the race, after issuing an apology for his “legitimate rape” comments. If @ToddAkin isn't dropping out, as @PeterHambyCNN's reporting, then why's he holding a damn press conference? #Akin #MOSEN — Tony DiLascio (@TADiLascio) August 24, 2012 Of course, he has also muttered about some nefarious […]
The Right Scoop has the video, and it’s must-see material, if just for the long pause before Wasserman Schultz revs up to enter full spin mode.
Tropical Storm Isaac is strengthening and headed towards Florida just in time for the RNC Convention. Could put a damper on things. Tampa mayor on GOP convention: "We're prepared to call it off" if hurricane hits: http://t.co/8dQrjUKm — CNN (@CNN) August 22, 2012 Undeterred, the RNC is moving ahead. But just in case you’re going, […]
Squee! An email from the tooliest of the Obama tools!
Todd Akin is no longer welcome at the Republican National Convention next week, but if Sandra Fluke’s email on behalf of the Obama campaign is any indication, he’s likely to play a star role at the Democratic National Convention in September.
Her email about Akin’s “legitimate rape” remark offers a preview of how the tired War on Women meme is likely to take center stage.
Minn. Rep. Kerry Gauthier announced this afternoon that he would not seek re-election to House District 7B after reports of a sex scandal involving a 17-year-old boy became public. BREAKING: Rep. Not to be ignored, professional waaaaaahmbulance chaser Touré just had to join in the chorus of liberals using Todd Akin to demonize the entire Republican party. OK, Touré. Now that you’ve put that out there, can you please go away? Maybe if we cross our fingers reeeeeeeally hard …
At long last, the origins of the Republican War on Women have been revealed! And it’s all thanks to noted political psychoanalyst and U.S. Senator Barbara “Don’t call me Ma’am!” Boxer. She’s worked so hard, and it’s finally paid off! Boxer shared her findings yesterday at a Planned Parenthood luncheon, referring to disgraced senatorial candidate […]
Happily jumping into the wake left by Rep. Todd Akin’s comments, President Obama’s “least effective” surrogate Debbie Wasserman Schultz has offered her interpretation of the GOP platform for those who prefer to hear it from the chair of the DNC. If a picture paints a thousand words, what does a picture of 13 words paint? […]
Ugh: Rep. Steve King says
he’s never heard of pregnancy following statutory rape, incest he doesn’t personally know a 12-year-old who was raped; Updated and corrected; Twitchy apologizes to Rep. King for misinterpreting his remarks
In an interview yesterday, Republican U.S. Rep. Steve King of Iowa was asked for his thoughts on the Todd Akin fiasco. King avoided commenting specifically on Akin’s remarks and chose instead to focus on Akin’s moral character, calling him a “strong Christian man, with a wonderful family.” Even in the face of mounting pressure from […]
Akin: ‘We are going to continue with this race for U.S. Senate'; Update: Rumors swirl that he may reconsider before deadline; Update: Reaffirms on Hannity. Again.
As Twitchy reported, the calls for Rep. Akin to drop out of the Missouri U.S. Senate race keep coming. However, Rep. Akin just reiterated his decision to stay in the race.
Political genius Geraldo Rivera has some news for all you single ladies out there: Rep. Todd Akin is running against President Obama. You thought Mitt Romney was at the top of the GOP ticket? Stupid, silly girls. Rest your heads. Geraldo will take care of all that thinking stuff for you. Just accept that a […]
Minn. state Rep. Kerry Gauthier is being urged to end his re-election bid following a sex scandal involving a 17-year-old boy. Police reports say that Gauthier, 56, had used Craigslist to arrange a meeting at a Duluth-area rest stop with the boy on July 22. The two reportedly engaged in oral sex behind a pavilion at the […]
After U.S. Senate candidate Todd Akin suggested that victims of “legitimate rape” have natural defenses against impregnation by rape-sperm, the despicable Left couldn’t wait to use the remark to smear … Paul Ryan.
The Obama campaign swiftly dispatched lying liar Stephanie Cutter to spread ThinkProgress talking points about Paul Ryan’s attempt to redefine rape. One problem: he didn’t do that.
In an exclusive phone interview this morning, GOP candidate Mitt Romney condemned Rep. Todd Akin’s remarks about “legitimate rape” and pregnancy. Romney’s campaign also released a statement last night. @mittromney to @nro on Akin (exclusive) http://t.co/Su5swsFF — Robert Costa (@costareports) August 20, 2012 Via NRO: “Congressman’s Akin comments on rape are insulting, inexcusable, and, frankly, […]
He tweeted that 10 minutes after tweeting this: "@TheMandyMoore: Shameful and dangerous. Republican Senate Nominee: Victims Of ‘Legitimate Rape’ Don’t Get Pregnant." http://t.co/t6W2vcOQ" — Chad Lowe (@ichadlowe) August 19, 2012 It sounds like he is reacting to the “legitimate rape” comments made by Rep. Todd Akin — comments that have been strongly criticized by many […]
A few years ago, Whoopi Goldberg claimed that film director Roman Polanski didn’t commit “rape rape.” We’re not sure, but we think her point was that not all rapes are the same, i.e., some rapes are forcible and other kinds (like statutory rape?) are not. Does that sound a lot like what Rep. Todd Akin […]
Oh my: Missouri GOP Senate nominee says victims of ‘legitimate rape’ don’t get pregnant; Update: ‘A Torricelli situation’?
“Legitimate rape” became a Twitter trending topic in the U.S. this afternoon after liberal blog Talking Points Memo posted a video of Rep. Todd Akin claiming that victims of “legitimate rape” are unlikely to become pregnant.
As Twitchy reported this weekend, members of Congress are finally seeking an investigation into the life-threatening use of SWAT-ting as a form of political terrorism. This morning, Congresswoman Sandy Adams (R-Fla.) spearheaded the effort, involving 85 members of Congress.
Please note the lack of Democrat names on the list. Are potentially life-threatening actions used to quash free speech hunky-dory to them? It appears so. With their silence, they are condoning it.
