The viral image of Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback AJ McCarron’s girlfriend, Katherine Webb, reacting to his disastrous turnover last night was worth a thousand words. And Vines. And GIFs. And memes.

Silver lining?

For now, anyway.

  • WhoMeToo

Huskers Win, Ole Miss win… and Bama loss! My life is complete. >:^)

Longtime Alabama fan. Yeah, I’m not happy w/them lately, but the mightiest still stumble from time to time. As long as Georgia still sucks, I know the world hasn’t changed THAT much.

Who the F is Katherine Webb?

Google search… per Wikipedia: “Katherine Webb is an American model, beauty queen, and television personality. She was Miss Alabama USA 2012 and is perhaps best known for her appearance during the broadcast of the 2013 BCS National Championship Game.”

    • WhoMeToo

      Now that’s funny. XD

    • Hotlanta Mike

      She’s also an Auburn grad…

      • mstatedawg78

She be like, “Is the Auburn QB single?”

Oklahoma is the 2014 BCS Champion??????? [/sarc]

    • Hotlanta Mike

      Playoffs start next season…

  • Alex Furlong

Perhaps I am missing something by not being obsessed with college football.

Beauty queen is dating the quarterback. I can understand that. But why the meme pics insinuating that she’s going to jump to another, more successful quarterback?

    • TugboatPhil ✓Mate

I think it has a lot to do with her being most famous for being on national TV and commented upon by a sportscaster than for being Miss Alabama. You could also throw in a commentary on “celebrity” in modern America and the people who follow it.

      But that’s just a guess.

      • World B. Free

        No, you’re right, Phil.

Basically, she’s famous just for being super hot.

        • johnmully

UCF QB Blake Bortles GF Lindsey Duke!

          • TheOriginalDonald

Thank you kindly for mentioning her name (droolz)

      • Stone Bryson

Yes indeed Phil… she got Musberger’d during the biggest game of the season last year, set Twitter on fire that night. I think Twitchy actually covered it in-depth.

  • Thomas

Y’all dumping on Katherine Webb for simply showing an emotional reaction (as did AJ’s mom) after boyfriend is sacked act like lefties after Cuccinelli lost to the socialist McAuliffe.

  • Andy Rigo ✓ᵗᵉʳʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

What she’s thinking: “O dear Lord, no! A.J. just became the Brown’s number 1 draft pick!”

    • GJV

      Of the 5th round, perhaps.

    • TCDave

      Sad, but true!

    • TugboatPhil ✓Mate

C’mon! It’s not like the Browns go through Quarterbacks like Congress goes though a pile of tax money that doesn’t even exist….ok, I need a different analogy.

      • Brown

The Patriots could take him late and maybe make him into something but he really doesn’t have a strong arm and struggles throwing under heavy pressure by the defense but he’s a great game manager, played in big games, leader, and usually smart with his throws. He kind of reminds me of Tom Brady out of college except McCarron had a lot more success than Brady.

        • Bandit Keena

          Bart Starr

    • Caves45

I can see AJ in a Vikings Uni late in the 3rd or 4th

  • praymorenow1

It was the Sugar Bowl, not the BCS Championship game, so in the end, it does not matter….Auburn game mattered, this one did not.
He was sacked what, 8 times? Sorry, Bama was just not the same team from halftime of the Auburn game onward….. Nick may stay and try to prove these last few losses are not his legacy. Or he may leave for Texas & start all over again. Money, money, money……….
AJ will be fine in the NFL. His GF will be fine in tv & ads.
Leave AJ for Johnny? Have you seen Johnny? Good QB….fun to see…he’s so small, he will have one RGIII season & then, RGIII type injuries will ensue. NFL is not college.

    • Hotlanta Mike

Some scouts are comparing Johnny Football to Brett Favre, who was successful in an era where quarterbacks were more vulnerable to getting injured than today. Me personally I liken Manziel to Fran Tarkenton. Exciting to watch, may get you to the Super Bowl, but not win the big one.

      • TexasMom2012

He is even better to watch in person. I couldn’t really get the magnitude of just how good Manziel is until we saw him play in Kyle Field this year…

        • Daris Darrison

and then you dropped his pants after the game

    • Shelby is a Patriot

Johnny has character issues. He’ll either start off like Cam Newton and have to be humbled a bit before he can have a great career, or he’ll end up like Ryan Leaf. It’s unfortunate because he is a great athlete and an exciting player.

  • Booker

What is going on with ‘Bama these days?

    • Hotlanta Mike

There’s no defense being played in the SEC this year. AL favored by 16.5 points against OU and gets beat by 14. This should worry Auburn fans for Monday night’s game against FSU, particularly those placing bets because Auburn doesn’t play defense either. It’s Low Tide in T-Town.

      • Stone Bryson

No defense in the SEC? – the hell you say. Mizzou had one of the best D’s in the FBS until the Auburn game, and while that was a VERY bad night for my Tigers every team has one from time to time. And the bad game WAS against Auburn after all, who lit up every team they faced over the last few weeks of the season.

Missouri Tigers win tonight with strong D, and Auburn Tigers win Monday night for the championship with blowout offense. Mark it.

        • Hotlanta Mike

Granted Mizzou had a good season but they had one of the weakest schedules in the SEC,which accounts for the skew in the defensive and offensive numbers playing against so many inferior teams.

          • Stone Bryson

I won’t deny that Mizzou had a softer schedule than a few of their SEC counterparts (I would not go so far as to say the ‘weakest,’ however), but a ‘softer’ schedule in the SEC is still more challenging than a ‘tougher’ schedule in many other conferences… say, the Big Ten, for example (Ohio State, anyone?).

I think you might be underestimating their talent on D. That noted, as I said above and below we’ll see what happens tonight against OSU.

          • Hotlanta Mike

Ohio State went 24-0, tough to do in any conference. Secondly their starting quarterback missed 3 games because of injury and yet they still won.

Further they beat a Wisconsin team which lost to South Carolina in the bowl game, which earlier beat Mizzou in Columbia. OSU’s only loss came in the conference title game against arguably the best defense in the nation.

          • Stone Bryson

Hold on, you can’t use ‘strength of schedule’ to justify your opinions about Mizzou then ignore that premise when discussing a team which has had a very weak schedule. And remember, Mizzou lost their starting quarterback for 5 games this year, and went 4-1 with a RS freshmen QB during that time. Furthermore, the SC loss happened in double overtime due to a botched FG kick – not exactly a blow-out, just a great win by a really good team.

Not saying Ohio State has a bad team – I actually think they were quite good, to be honest. But if they were in the SEC their 24-0 would have resembled 18-6, maybe even 20-4. Still solid, but certainly you’re not arguing that the Big Ten is currently the same caliber as the SEC.

          • Hotlanta Mike

By most accounts the PAC-12 was a deeper conference this year than the SEC.

          • G L

It’s always funny to see an SEC fan criticize another team from outside the conference for a weak schedule. That just never gets old.

          • spaceycakes

I’m gonna have to ‘follow’ you, Stone–just for your stance on Mizzou. (I’m a Missouri gal)

          • Stone Bryson

Well thank you kindly – we Show-Me Staters have to stick together. :-)

Meanwhile… fun game last night, eh?

        • Hotlanta Mike

  • Burly Bergeron

I’m not an Alabama fan by any means , but I think making fun of th QB’s girlfriends reaction is pretty lame. How would you expect her to react?

  • Bandit Keena

The guy who recovered the fumble is down before he crosses the goal line

    • cc

Doesn’t matter, the game was over by that time. Even if the ball was spotted on the 2 yard line where his knee hit, the next play would have been the TD.

      • red sweater

Wouldn’t have changed the ultimate outcome, but yeah, it still was a blown call. And the ball doesn’t get spotted WHERE the knee goes down, it gets spotted at its location WHEN the knee goes down, inside the 1.

    • delroymonjo

      Sore loser, are ya’, bandit?

    • Chimpestry

It was very close but the ball broke the plain of the goal line .00023 seconds before his knee touched the ground. It is really academic anyway, the game was when he scooped up the ball; Alabama had no timeouts left so Oklahoma only needed to take a knee once or twice run out the time and get the win.

  • johnmully

KSTATE and OU DESTROY their teams! You wait next year the Big 12(err10) Dominate! EMAW!

  • Adam Baumb

If all some of you can do is try to demonstrate wit where none applies, don’t give up the burger flipping job just yet. Anyone that played competitive sports and had a mom or girlfriend attend the game can attest: they are the most accurate barometer of how hard you get hit and how poorly you play (if that’s the case). Mocking those women for their reaction is weak mindedness at its finest.

    • LegalizeShemp

What about your feeble attempt at wit by saying we flip burgers, is that an example of “weak mindedness” too?

      • Adam Baumb

No wit intended. Only a moron — who might have the skill set necessary to flip burgers — finds something depraved or amusing about such reactions. It proves they have never achieved or accomplished anything worthy of a response other than “get out of my underwear drawer, you freak”. Don’t care what you think — that’s no class/low class by people that couldn’t carry AJ’s laundry across the street.
