Good question. The answers are nearly unanimous:

We hope Charlie will let us know if he finds one!

Maybe that’s why so cranky, they’re so far from home here!

Regressives are from Uranus…well maybe not yours, but someone’s.

I actually have at least once. Maybe even a couple times. It happens so rarely that I forget. They do resort to other things, though: burning straw men, false equivalency, moving the goalposts, etc.

      You’re lucky.

  • Hello Jerry (D)

    Nope!

  • itzyaboi95

    Good luck with that.

I thought I had one of those once. But I checked with the game warden and it was just a libertarian. I had to turn it lose back into the wild because those are a rare protected species. Still hoping to find one though. Good news is that rude progressives have been classified as a pestilence. That means when you bag one you’re doing society a service.

I have met nice liberal Republicans – basically RINOs. Does that count?

Although, upon reflection, I’ve only met one. Oh well.

I have once. Just the once and he was from the Netherlands. I made a #nra tweet and progressives didn’t at all like what I said – I was called every name in the book and wished a slow painful death. One guy from the Netherlands was polite even though we didn’t agree on gun control. He even took it well when, after several replies from him started with “In the Netherlands this…” or “In the Netherlands that…” I said to him, “The US doesn’t aspire to the Netherlands” He said, “Point taken”

Charlie, have I ever thanked you for co-writing one of my favorite songs, “It Hurts Me”? If not, consider it done now.

That said, may I make a few suggestions regarding portsiders? First off, if you’re ever tempted to engage a portsider in a discussion of ANY subject, fight that temptation. Nothing good will come of that discussion. There is nothing you can say – no authority you can reference – to change a portsider’s opinion of anything.

Second, if you must use the p-word you used, please place it within quotation marks. Just because portsiders love to refer to themselves as – dare I say it – “progressives,” doesn’t mean we have to oblige them. Since there is nothing progressive about today’s portsider, I refuse to refer to them as such.

Too many folks supposedly on the other side – our side – of the political spectrum are too ready to use the language of the left. To do so is to allow them to shape the debate. The sooner that our side recognizes that political correctness (PC) is nothing but a campaign to shape the debate and shut people up, the sooner our side will drop the PC terminology.

      Amen to that!

Another dictum is whomever asks the question sets the debate.

They are nice as long as your agreeing with them.

Insanity is stating facts to progressives and expecting them to get it….I’m guilty.

I never have. They eventually turn into Drama Queens.

i have a dear friend who is a progressive… she is a generous, happy and fun chick to hang out with. but we don’t talk politics (rule mutually established) so i don’t think i could count her.

So, Charlie asks a loaded question and expects a civil answer? Try re-wording the question Charlie, without the hyperbole and implied insult.

  • TocksNedlog

Sure! Problem is, what do they write to fill in the other 139 characters?

My mom is about the closest that I can find. I think she’s a fiscal con, social partial-progressive. She’ll debate over the merits of arguments and is fun to have back and forth with. My sister, on the other hand, debates like a typical liberal. We’ve learned to minimize political discussions when we’re together.
