Now media lapdogs are admitting that whole “you can keep your plan” deal was never going to happen. The election is over, so it’s totally safe now, you see.

Rick Klein, junior high poet and head Obama cheerleader at one point, went so far as to say that it was “never possible to keep.” Hey, you know what that sounds like, Mr. Klein?

https://twitter.com/ThrashyMachus/status/384639232457052160

Bingo!

Klein mused about the “empty promise” last week too.

Yep. As Twitchy reported, what you can keep is your cancellation notice.

The day prior to that tweet, Klein was still a tad confused.

Sorry, guys! Psych!

“Empty promise,” “never possible”? That all equals one thing:

LIE.

The media has no credibility, period. They are nothing more than the self appointed propaganda arm of the DNC. They are doing their parts to ensure the socialist utopia they all desire finally happens here in the USSA. Goebbels would be envious of how effective they are.

This whole thing started out with a lie. His mother had health insurance. She did not have disability insurance. I pay dearly for disability insurance. I don’t get that for free.

  • MNWoman

Obamacare’s promises have proven to be outright lies.

Obamacare could have been completely re-written (or with the thousands of pages added since, likely has been completely re-written) from the original version which was still terrible, and the dems would refuse to budge on it.

I am wondering at what point does it get absurd enough (even more than it is now, if that is possible) before the dems will finally admit this is a disaster? I honestly don’t know how they can still possibly defend this. It is truly mind boggling. Nothing they promised/promoted has happened and far more unintended (or perhaps intended) consequences are happening.

  • in_awe

“Still wrong; We’ve got HC but our plan is no longer offered cuz it’s not compliant. So I have to get a worse plan for more $.”

When I moved to CA in the mid-1980’s I immediately bought earthquake insurance on my home. It was affordable and had a (semi-)reasonable deductible. Then the pols in Sacramento decided it was being offered only by private insurance companies and therefore was discriminatory(?). They banned private EQ insurance and created a state run EQ insurance program. The premium went up 300%, the coverage amount fell and the deductible skyrocketed. But the socialists succeeded in “leveling the playing field” to the point of making it unaffordable for the majority of CA homeowners. They viewed their handiwork as being a success. Mindless.

    • Michelle ✓classified

I was in my late teens in the early 80’s and not yet a homeowner, so I wasn’t aware of this, but they’ve definitely reversed this. Private insurance companies offer EQ insurance, in fact it’s been a law since before the 90’s that they offer EQ insurance. So whatever they did in the 80’s was definitely short-lived, because private insurers MUST offer the insurance. I have it on my home and it’s through the company that insures my home, cars and recreational vehicles. And I remember the nightmare all my friends. neighbors and I went through with claims and loss assessments in the wake of the ’94 Northridge quake.

      • in_awe

Actually the EQ insurance must be available through homeowner insurance carriers doing business in the state of CA – but the policy is actually a state CEA policy in almost every case. I just had this conversation with State Farm which provided my original EQ policy starting in 1984 and since the change in the law functions as the purveyor of the State of CEA EQ policy. SF collects the premium but does not actually issue the policy.

From the CA EQ Authority site:

“In offering earthquake coverage, insurance companies can become a CEA participating insurance company and offer the CEA’s residential earthquake policies or they can manage the risk themselves. To date, companies that sell over two-thirds of
the residential property insurance in the state have opted to become CEA participating companies.”

So, any policy privately provided must of course be CEA compliant – just like under Obamacare private health policies must be Obamacare compliant which is why so many are being dropped as of 1/1/14.

“CEA earthquake insurance policies are sold only through CEA
participating insurance companies. You can buy CEA coverage only through the insurance company that provides your residential property insurance and only if that company is a CEA participating insurance company. Participating insurance companies process all CEA policy applications, policy renewals, invoices, and payments and handle all CEA claims.”

Per a LATimes article this year, 5 out of 6 homes in CA have no EQ insurance.

        • Michelle ✓classified

CEA is publicly managed, but mostly privately funded. Insurance companies are not required to go through CEA and are allowed to carry their own risk, obviously most do not.

My comment was in response to this: “They banned private EQ insurance and created a state run EQ insurance program.”

Private insurers are NOT banned from offering EQ insurance, quite the opposite, they are required by law to offer it. They are not forced to go through CEA, that is a choice.

Thanks for the uh, info – I’m guessing you missed my point. The person to whom I responded said private insurers are banned from selling EQ insurance, and that’s absolutely not true. Neither are they required to go through CEA.

My brother-in-law and father-in-law are AllState agents, have been for decades, I’m clear on how insurance works. 😉

  • tops116 ✓Quipper

At what point will Obama claimed he never said that and that it was a promise made by Congress? “I didn’t make that promise. Congress did. The world did.”

But let’s be fair, when Obama said “If you like your plan, you can keep it,” he was really talking to Congressional Democrats. Hence, the rampant exemptions.

    • JR48

Not exactly an exemption for Congressional staffers. It’s a federally paid subsidy for federal employees to balance out their expected higher premiums. In other words, all of those employees in question are going to get a raise to pay for 75% of their new healthcare premiums.

Bonus points, because their salary has been effectively raised, when they retire, their retirement payments from the feds will thus also be HIGHER (it’s based upon their salary and this is considered salary). I read somewhere today that if they live 20 years after retirement, this is calculated as something like “80,000 dollars extra PER PERSON on average”.

      No wonder they’re for it.

  • nc ✓s & balances

    Another question:

What happens if you don’t have insurance, and you don’t sign up through the exchanges for whatever reason (maybe you don’t have Internet access, just sayin’)? And you don’t make enough to pay any federal income tax, does this mean you will be charged the tax/penalty? Does anyone seriously think this will happen? Have they even thought about it?

    • PridebeforetheFall

      Nope, they have not.

The left is always about the thought, not the results.

    • Zach Smith

You are most likely exempt in that case. Of course, you don’t get insurance, either.

      • nc ✓s & balances

But wasn’t that the whole reason that the Dems had to break the entire system in the first place? Because there were millions of people who were uninsured.

        I’m so confused!

  • Zach Smith

Anyone with an IQ above that of a sea slug has has known this for years, yet the media continued to parrot the lies, and still continue to do so for the most part.
