Super heavy sigh. Here we go again: New tone! Of course, it’s not just the absurd Jesse Jackson who is trotting out the ludicrous “hostage” notion either.

Surprise, surprise!

Next up: The White House, fresh on the heels of a WH official referring  to “extreme members” of the GOP who are being “reckless” and threatening.

Bingo! The same, and lame, playbook. Take a gander at the play being run:

Pitiful. As that Twitter user said, “grow up.” Alas, it doesn’t look like that will happen any time soon.

Terrorists. Speaking of negotiating, the sad soul should check out the boom-worthy video from Speaker Boehner. But, you know ,facts are hard.

Oh, well. Case closed. It’s all about HIM.

And the icing on the cuckoo pants nutshell:

What’s next? We await Politico to join in with this:

‘Boom!’ Spot-on Boehner video crucifies Obama: Who won’t he negotiate with?

WH: ‘Extreme members’ of GOP are ‘reckless’; Mark Knoller smacks Obama with flashback quotes

Rep. Steny Hoyer says House GOP are like child hostage-takers threatening to shoot

When even Anderson Cooper calls Wasserman Schultz out for her B.S., you know she’s full of it

    • Elaine

      She posted another one! hahaha
      D Wasserman Schultz @DWStweets

For years Republicans have manufactured crises. The victim? Our economy:

      • John W.

I have no idea what DWS is talking about. And neither does she.

  • Jack Deth

How can the US be held “hostage” when most Americans want to neither Obamacare, nor an expanded debt ceiling.

You hit 17 trillion. It’s time to hit the brakes and call it “Quits!”.

But, what do D-bags like DWS and her fellow Democrat care? It’s not their money!

  • alanstorm

“Republicans have tried 41 times to defund Obamacare. They can’t get a majority, so they hold US military, etc. hostage.—”

Neil, I hate to tell you you’re a f**king idiot, but I’m blunt that way. You’re a f**king idiot. The house has voted many times to repeal O-care because it’s a destructive, idiotic piece of legislation. The Senate has voted on that….ZERO times, because Dingy Harry is afraid of the results.

Grow up and get a clue.

    • Ty in TX

Yeah….When I read that the first thing I thought was “Oh really? You mean like the several times Dems cut off funding to the military for better armor and vehicles for the mission in Iraq?”
Oh but don’t worry, they support the military.

      • MNWoman

I wrote this comment in a different Twitchy article, but I caught just a few seconds of Fox News (America Live with whoever is filling in for Megyn Kelly) and they were discussing a new Dem. strategy.

The dems are trying to re-take the House and are hoping to recruit military veterans to run for congress.

        • therealguyfaux

And I wrote THIS in another thread: The debt ceiling debate is a ruse to take our eye off the ball of the Cloward-Piven Strategy– to make sure the Government gives out as much as possible to as many as possible– of COURSE it’s unsustainable– that’s the point! The Government is SUPPOSED to collapse from the weight of the debt. That’s what’s supposed to bring the Revolution!

And it doesn’t surprise me that the Dems want veterans– if they’re going to start wars in Syria, they don’t want any hippie dippies who are going to start in with “Give Peace A Chance,” now do they?

          • trixiewoobeans

            Or more “foot-shooters,” right Kerry?

  • QueenB

My fave has to be the Think Progress headline:
GOP Leader Who Once Warned Against Messing With The Debt Ceiling Are…..

“POTUS, who once railed against raising the debt ceiling, saying “having to raise the debt ceiling is evidence of lack of leadership” now says it will not increase our debt and raising the debt ceiling proves leadership”

    There. All fixed.

  • WhoMeToo

    Lemmings Unite

    • Jack Deth

      Dyslexic Lemmings…. Untie!

  • ObamaFail

Good lord, why are there so many stupid idiots in this country? If we default or shut down, it’ll be all the Dems doing. The Dems are the reason we keep hitting the debt ceiling every year because they keep increasing spending, and the Republicans are offering to fund the government except for Obamacare. If anyone is holding the US hostage, it’s the terrorist sympathizing Democrats.

  • alanstorm

So, the GOP is FINALLY trying to do the will of the people, and the gang that trots out the “will of the people” (hey, it’s written into their “national anthem”, IIRC) at every opportunity is upset with that?

    Got it – I think…

  • ObamaFail

Why are there so many stupid liberals in this country? They will believe anything that comes from the DNC. Even when the facts point the blame at the irresponsible behavior of Barack Obama, the Dems will blame the GOP and the pathetic braindead lemmings will line up to suckle on the Democrat teet and believe what they say. Treason? Benghazi was treason. Spending us deeper and deeper in debt and blaming the other side for it is treason. Trying to save this country from economic devastation is not treason. These Neanderthals need psychological help.

  • SJ’s Dad

If by “Hostage” you mean “Accountable” . . .
    . . . then YES!!!

  • MNWoman

I met my representative (Michele Bachmann) last weekend. I told her since the Republicans get blamed for anything and everything that goes wrong, they may as well do something to make it worth it.

Seriously, I think there could be a 99 democrats and 1 republican in the senate, 434 dems in the house and 1 republican with a democratic president and somehow the republicans would get blamed for anything that went wrong (okay, this is perhaps a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the idea).

    • rosetta_stoned

      You’re not exaggerating at all.

Look no further than Detroit – a city run wholly by Democrats since, what, 1957? And when it goes bankrupt, who do the leftists blame?

      • Ty in TX

I believe it was….It failed due to the policies put in place by the Repubs…in a city owned by the Dems going on 60yrs.

  • Acethepug

    Read this, from Mr. President, and savor the irony;

“This is terrorism. This is Treason. This is holding the entire world economy hostage because GOP can’t except the law of the land.”

Because, as we know, Barack Obama has the utmost respect for the Constitution, the idea of three Separate but EQUAL Branches of government, and checks and balances, right?

Keep spinning, Libbies! Keep spinning that narrative!

    • alanstorm

Can we wire them up, get some magnets and produce electricity? We could do away with every other power source!

  • Unicorns and Rainbows

This kind of crap used to pi$$ me off. But they’ve used it so much now it has the same effect as being called a “racist”… *yawn*

  • Elaine

Someone has to hold the line on spending! Obama said so!

    • tops116

“Someone else set that red line.”

  • MNWoman

“I have strong hate for the GOP right now. Holding the government hostage over ACA aka obamacare. Shutdown will be mostly their fault!”

Could this person possibly explain which part would be the democrats fault?

“These republicans holding the government hostage over something they can not prevent. I better get my money on time i still have to live”

    FREE STUFF!!!!

  • Magnifico

Jesse’s diversifying…..not even a mention of racism. I’m very impressed.

  • alanstorm

And, as we all know, the methods used to pass O-care in the first place were totally above-board and honorable, right?

  • Jill

In household economics, this would be akin to me claiming that my credit card company is brutally punishing me/holding my family hostage by not increasing my limit though I do not have the funds to ever pay the debt off.

    • World B. Free

Exactly. And the Dems are like the children whining because they’re not getting their “free” phones, ipads, and cash because you don’t want to go further in debt just to give them all the “free” stuff that they’ve gotten used to.

    • walterc

Just tell your credit card company that if they don’t raise your limit you’ll default on your mortgage, and won’t be able to buy food for your starving children. When they tell you that you need to cut your spending some, tell them you can eliminate 1 latte per year for the next five, so now they can double your limit.

  • WilliamAmos

The democrats hold America hostage to pay for their social programs.

    • Vitiosum

Yes they certainly do, and they expect us to smile meekly and swallow the bitter pill, along with a shot of their obviously poisoned koolaid. They enjoy watching America writhe in pain.

  • Guest

Sometimes I think you people want to finish crashing our economy. You don’t raise the limit, the US defaults, but you guys would love a government with no money.

    • John Kerry’s Forehead

Dude, get a clue. Read a history book. Lay off the lib blogs. The Onion isn’t real news. Smurfs aren’t real. Unicorns only exist in Obama voter’s minds…

    • stuckinIL4now

We already have a gubmint with no money. All we’ve got is play money from the Fed printing press. Oh, and what economy–it’s already crashed and burned.

    • rosetta_stoned

How’s about we take a look at WHY we’re reaching the debt limit, sparky?

    • QueenB

I believe the plan is to fund everything except Obamacare. So if Obamacare is so important to the dims, it will be them who refuse to fund everything else. Besides, I thought having to increase the debt ceiling was evidence of a lack of leadership. That’s what Obama said at least. Are you calling Obama a liar? You racist!

    • MarcusFenix

I have the feeling that you somehow don’t understand the purpose of raising the ceiling or comprehend its effect.

An easy visual. A pipe in your two-story house bursts, and sends raw sewage spilling into your basement. Over time, that foul brew completely overruns the house, and makes it all the way to within 6 inches of the ceiling on the second floor.

Is the acceptable course of action to drain the house and fix the problems with the pipe……or raise the ceiling and roof an extra 2 feet?

In a very broad sense, that’s exactly what raising the debt ceiling does. We are hemorrhaging funds and have a government that has a massive spending issue. Our gross debt to GDP ratio is already over 106%….meaning we owe more money to our creditors than what we’re worth and create.

The idea that raising the ceiling is to “meet our obligations” completely ignores the fact that it doesn’t prevent the government from increasing the amount they’re spending…because now they have a higher debt ceiling with which to accommodate the spending. The proper course of action is to halt all unnecessary government spending across the board, remove ACA so that it is no longer a factor in the equation (that’s over 1 Trillion Dollars of cost immediately removed, by doing so), and completely audit everything from the bottom up.

The course of action that prevents collapse later on is going to be the simple formula of not spending what we don’t have. It’s not about crashing the economy. It’s *already* crashed. If we’re having to raise the debt ceiling now, and again in 10 weeks by projections, we’re already WAY in over our heads. Wouldn’t the best course of action be to stop what’s causing the issue in the first place, rather than just adding more on to our proverbial ceiling example from above?

I don’t want a government that is without funds. I want a government to be responsible stewards of our taxes and to fund that, and only that, which it is supposed to by Constitutional direction. Spending less than we take in would be an excellent way to solve such a problem, no?

      • MNWoman

        Well said!

    • walterc

How does not raising the debt limit cause a default? If I max out my credit card I don’t default on my mortgage, I cut my spending. If it’s going to cause a default, it means were are borrowing money to pay our debt. How stupid is that?

    • tops116

“C’mon, guys, Obamacare is great! The Democrat that exempted himself from it told me so!”

  • Scorpion

If we are being held hostage for that, I can’t think of a better reason not to get “Stockholm Syndrome” and to thank our hostage takers.

  • neoface

All debbie what’s-up can do is whine, whine, and whine some more. We should fire everyone in the government besides military for two month, think how much money we can save just by not spending it. The result will be the same, nothing gets done, but at least we saved money. LOL!!!
I think Obama is holding Americans hostage with that humongous debt he has created. Maybe Debbie can shut up and payoff the debt with her own money.

ok, they obviously were all sent a ‘hostage’ memo today.
