Yes, they did.

As Twitchy reported, the news earlier tonight was tense and terrifying. The Boston bombing suspect was surrounded by police in Watertown, Mass. after a barrage of gunfire.

The police now have him in custody: Oh, yes. Captured!

But, earlier tonight there was a moment of levity when NBC had that oopsie. A moment of truth from a journalist?

Heh. Brian Williams apologized.

He totally is. But that’s another story. Or, several buffoon-ish stories.

Accurate reporting NBC news does not know Sh*t

  • deb332

Have to say I feel sorry for the guy who said it because he probably won’t have a job tomorrow. SMH…. Honesty isn’t always the best policy depending on who you work for.

  • http://deadbuffaloblog.blogspot.com/ DeadBuffalo Blog

    Actually. that’s incorrect. They don’t know F*CK!

  • http://yourdaddy.net/ NotaLemming

He was talking about @CNN believe it or not.

  • Adi

Don’t worry, they can edit it later.

    • TocksNedlog

      And they will.

  • Harry A

i think NBC was perhaps the most accurate news station during this whole ordeal, which is beyond surprising to say the least.

    • John (it true me am)

Their affiliate reporting wasn’t bad from what I saw, their cable punditry however was their usual stupidity.

    • beebop1952

Wouldn’t know. Don’t reward the 0bamaMSM with my viewership. Watch nothing but FOX.

      • Harry A

Fox, being the most popular news channel is definitely mainstream. you cant get any more mainstream than number 1.

        • beebop1952

How do you figure? The left has all of the others. Tell me what network would hire the right’s version of alan colmes?

    • usaok59

      They don’t know shit.

      • Harry A

NBC was first to report a Saudi wasnt in lockdown in the hospital. NBC was the first to report they didnt have someone in custody, even though CNN, CBS, Fox and ABC said it was so. NBC was first to report that Sunil Tripathi wasnt a suspect, id say NBC knew the most this time.

  • Bill Board

This is news? No one on NBC knows shit.

  • Jack Deth

That’s why I sit on the sidelines while talking head and media know nothings climb over each other to put out something. Anything. In the hopes of being first. Regardless that 99.9% of the time what they “report” is wrong, or is utter BS.

Better to let the cops and Feds do what they do and have briefings and pressers throughout the day. Granted, it usually isn’t any better until a break is made. But it is the “system” we have. And it is seriously messed up and near broken.

  • kim

    new spokesman for NBC?

  • Garth Haycock

There is no need to apologize for speaking the truth.

  • Frank Drebin

For Dave Garroway, it was, “Peace.”
For Edward R. Murrow, it was, “Good night and good luck.”
For Walter Cronkite, “And that’s the way it is.”

    • pinkelephant22

And how appropriate that an anchor’s sign-off on none other than NBC, can now officially be:

      “We don’t know shlt”

    • southerntragedy

And Ted Poe keeps up the Cronkite meme. This judge saved my 2nd ex’s life when he was 18. Sadly, I planted him in the back 40 and is pushing up daisies…….The 1st one is buried in the front yard,…….http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Li3b2zUAjI

      • 1SkepticalChick

Love, love, love Senator/Judge Poe! Everybody listen ’cause here come da Judge! He and Ted Cruz, Texas awesomeness personified!

  • http://www.facebook.com/bret.colville Bret Colville

There’s got to be video of this somewhere!

  • ber_snake

For once NBC spoke the truth.

  • capisce

Hope they pay that guy extra for coming up with their new tagline.

    • TocksNedlog

“NBC — We Don’t Know Shit!”

  • TocksNedlog

HEADLINE: “NBC Reporter Commits Random Act Of Journalism; Anchorman Apologizes Immediately”

    Sounds about right.

  • TocksNedlog

As opposed to the MSNBC hosts, where the ONLY thing they know is sh*t.

  • HannahJK

We need to cut these people some slack. They have to fill hours of airtime despite not knowing shit. They have to compete with everyone and their dog shooting videos and sources choosing to tweet rather than be interviewed.
They’re not old school journalists but it’s not an old school world.

    • Tom Anderson

No they don’t have to fill endless hours of airtime. I’m about to date myself here, but I remember the good old days and how they covered hot breaking news. They broke into regular programing, told the viewers the known/confirmed facts of the incident and then went back to regular programing. They came back when there was new additional confirmed information.

That system was much better, more factual and didn’t lend its self to cause the mob mentality/fear factor, pundit vitriol, random speculation and agenda pushing run amok programing that we have now which passes for news.

  • $472942

    “I don’t know shit!”

Well, that one little statement perfectly sums up the entire NBC “news” entity…

    Honesty is the best policy.

  • Herman LaClair

(in James Earl Jones’ voice): “You’re watching NBC News…We Don’t Know Shit.”

  • Jimni27

This is the type of news I can get behind, lol. That’s probably why the Boston Police scanner was so popular yesterday- at one point there were 2 million people listening to it. It was raw and unfiltered and sometimes you just want that instead of the canned banter and speculation you get on network news. I would be willing to bet when anything like this happens again, people will be looking for police scanners.

  • matt higgins

Oh no,. Someone said shit on broadcast TV! What ever shall we do…?

  • Timmmmm

    Jim Braude is an idiot.

  • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

As far as actual news goes the local affiliates are the only reporters doing actual journalism. National news is just punditry and bloviating along with propping up the Administration.

  • Java Dewd

Yeah, I heard that live in the dining room of a pissed of client. I need to send that poor guy at New England Cable News a fruit basket for breaking the f-ing tension in that room!

  • Tom Anderson

Typical of the media to apologize for telling the truth.

  • Chris Valentine

For anyone interested, the guy in question was Jim Braude, well known local radio arch liberal.

  • ToyZebra

Apparently the FCC says now that if you speak from the heart, it’s okay to be vulgar.

  • lainer51

I didn’t need Williams to tell me that!!!!! I’ve known it for years.

  • lillymckim

Finally … something I can agree with him on.
