As Twitchy reported, Martin Richard was killed in the Boston bombing yesterday. He was 8 years old.

No words. Only tears.

Martin Richard’s younger sister, Jane, was also injured in the bombing, as was their mother, Denise.

His mother reportedly has a serious brain injury. His little sister Jane, 6 years old, suffered grievous injury as well. There are some reports saying she may have lost her leg.

That photograph is beyond heartbreaking.

Martin’s father, Bill, has issued a statement.

From the Boston Herald’s Facebook page:

“My dear son Martin has died from injuries sustained in the attack on Boston. My wife and daughter are both recovering from serious injuries. We thank our family and friends, those we know and those we have never met, for their thoughts and prayers. I ask that you continue to pray for my family as we remember Martin. We also ask for your patience and for privacy as we work to simultaneously grieve and recover. Thank you.”

Twitter is praying for Boston and praying for the Richard family. Newest little angel, Martin, we are keeping your family in our prayers.

We will, Mr. Richard. We will continue to hold you and your family in our thoughts and prayers. We are sending prayers of strength for your precious little Jane and your beautiful wife Denise.

Rest in peace, little angel.

THIS IS WHAT THE BOMBERS PRAYED FOR…I’m praying right now for this family and a father that will not have the luxury even of being able to fall apart, he has two surviving children and a mortally injured wife to give strength to. God help them all.

  • ForTheRepublic

Aw man, now I can’t stop crying. Crying out of sadness for this poor father, and out of sheer rage at whomever did this. I’ll tell you this: I hope they find whomever is responsible, and hang them. Hang them high above Bunker Hill. It’ll be more humane than they deserve.

    • Axelgreaser

Even if he/they were hanged, it would take 20 years to carry out by which time he/they would probably have a following of ‘fans.’ Also, if we look to recent handling of terrorists, the next nearly four years might be quite cushy by comparison to the handling of the more common, WASPY criminal (you or I) if he is what or whom we think he/they is/are.

      • ForTheRepublic

As livid as I am to admit it, you’re right. This country needs serious law reforms, especially “death row”.

My heart is breaking such a wonderful little boy.. my prayers are with the family of this child.. how heartbreaking an end to a family day for them.. May God shelter them from their pain..

  • BorderLine Guy

215lb man on the treadmill running and crying this morning: Me. I have an 8 year old son, and I can’t imagine the pain this family is dealing with. (And it disgusts me that I say that far too often lately)

Unimaginable horror. A little girl that will be without a leg for the rest of her life.

One of mine is now. What kind of world do we live in anymore?

      • annoyinglittletwerp

If this is the ‘brave new world’ that Huxley was writing of,I want the old world back.

The person or persons responsible for this should pray to their God that law enforcement finds them before someone else does.

  • BeautifulAmerica

What a lovely message this child’s father was able to give to the world in the midst of his agony, shock, grief, and the sad arrangements which must be made. God bless Little Martin and his family.
Death penalty for the Infidels who wrought this evil.
