Bingo! But, surely the Smartest Man Alive ™ is never wrong! Except when he nearly always is, and today was no different. During President Obama’s surprise press conference, he prattled on about “magazine clips.”

Who is feeding him gun “knowledge“? Musket Morgan? Did Vice President Biden get such sage advice from the noted experts in Hollywood, then pass it along to the president? Or did he listen to some of these geniuses?

https://twitter.com/ToddKincannon/status/290862147527909376

Heh. Lapdogs are feeding him!

https://twitter.com/scubazuke72/status/290863900616970240

Bless his heart! It would be hilarious, except that he is the President of the United States and has said that he will make gun-grabbing a part of his second term. Fundamental change and all! He is seeking to legislate something about which he knows nothing, evidently.

The mockery was fast and furious. And hilarious.

https://twitter.com/dicktator12/status/290882494230843392

Precisely. But, rail he did anyway.

They must be like those nefarious doctors (also known as tonsil reapers) who scare you into letting them take your tonsils out all willy-nilly like, just to cash in.

Good grief, this man knows nothing. And just makes stuff up.

He was unintentionally correct in a way. His fear-mongering, and the fear-mongering of grave-dancing ghouls, has helped to increase NRA membership. Kudos!

As for “magazine clips,” Twitter users helpfully provide a Teachable Moment ™. He can’t ask David Gregory; he is trying to keep magazines on the down-low now after waving one about on air.

Never change, Twitter. And keep doing the job that the media won’t do.

Oh bother – to the both of you – let the Democrats assemble their blue ribbon committee for gun control – let them explain themselves to the American people – and then – vote against it. Justin said:

“let them explain themselves to the American people”

Obama has just proven that he cannot. And I know that no other Democrat is smarter than Obama. The media tells me so every day!

        • Justin Case

Then let them fumble about and trip over themselves. Focus on what Americans really care about (money) and let the Democrats take the heat from all the hot button issues they are trying to steer the conversation toward. Quit taking the bait.

          • $1014973

To the contrary, there are a vast amount of Americans who care very deeply about gun rights. Millions of them.

          • Justin Case

The constitution is very clear. Precedent is very clear. No executive order will stand. Let them present their bill if they ever develop one and simply vote no. Republicans still control the House. They know where their constituents stand. Don’t give them any thing to push back against in the press to keep this debate alive. Americans will quit paying attention to it and if the Republicans are smart enough to steer the conversation toward the economy you win.

          • http://pennyrobinsonfanclub.net/ PennyRobinsonFanClub

If you believe that then you have far better understanding of the Constitution than President Sock Puppet does.

          • J.N. Ashby

While the Constitution is very clear, there already are gun control laws in place, all of which are unconstitutional.

          • http://pennyrobinsonfanclub.net/ PennyRobinsonFanClub

Once more: Are you stipulating that unemployment is a real problem and President Sock Puppet’s War on Guns is just a distraction from his failure to get a handle on the economic crisis?

NB — “Oh, bother,” is NOT an adequate response.

          • Justin Case

Is ‘stipulating’ on your word of the day calendar? Yeah, distraction. Yeah, unemployment is a problem.

Sorry, it’s a word we lawyers like. So your stipulate/admit/concede/whatever that this whole things about guns is, pardon the expression, “blowing smoke” to cover the rest of his failures? That’s a Yes or No question.

“Ginning up” fear? Isn’t that one of those code words? Y’know, Obama’s a racist because he said “ginning up” which derogatorily refers to the good mountain folk living in/around/near the Appalachian Mountains because of negative stereotypes regarding them and moonshine and drunkenness, or some such.

And with that tortured twist of logic my brain gives up for the day.

    • RightThinking1

No,no…, you have the etymology wrong. “Ginning up” is racist because it evokes a vision of the cotton gin. Which, in turn, evokes a vision of cotton, which in turn evokes a picture of people picking cotton. QED, you are racist for using that term.

I know I’m being a bit of a broken record on this, but I think it’s critical — each and every new proposed gun regulation needs to have the question “and this would have stopped the Sandy Hook killings, HOW?” asked of it.

And when there is no good answer forthcoming (because there is no good answer), follow it up with “so why shouldn’t this just be seen as naked political opportunism, then?” Call it what it is — trying to use a tragedy to ram through a political agenda that doesn’t have anything to do with the tragedy.

None of the proposed restrictions would have stopped the tragedy in Newtown. In fact, current gun laws there WORKED in this situation. Adam Lanza attempted to purchase a gun, but balked at the two week waiting period for a background check (also doubles as a cool off period to prevent crimes of passion). He walked from the store, but even if he was OK with the two week period, he still would not have been able to purchase a gun – must be 21 in CT, Lanza was only 20. The system WORKED – he was denied access to a gun. The reason the shootings happened is because his mother FAILED to secure those guns from her mentally unstable son. Those guns should have been locked in a safe that only she had access to. Period, end of story. I realize she was also a victim in the situation, but we cannot overlook her lack of safety precautions that lead to this tragedy. Every single gun owner I know, myself included, keeps their guns locked in a safe that only THEY have access to.

      • Kevin Krom

But that just proves the underlying point — no matter how many gun laws there are, someone who is determined to get their hands on them will do so. (Hence, why Chicago, DC, and NYC have huge gun crime rates despite draconian gun laws.)

Lanza was balked, but kept trying different avenues until he got what he was looking for. Had his mother secured her guns properly, he would have gone looking for another source.

        • http://www.theconservativevoices.com/ dmacleo

we’re assuming they were not secured. I have not seen anything one way or the other to show he didn’t kill her then unlock them and take them.
seems to me, and this is conjecture, if he wasn’t trying to force a way to steal them (IE they were unsecured) he could have left her alive.
maybe, again pure conjecture, she died because she would not give him access ?
and if I am wrong please let me know.

          • GTFOBigGovt

He didn’t have to kill her if he knew how to “unlock them”. She left him alone often ,per her bar buddies.

So if he knew how to “unlock them”,, then they were STILL not secure.

A gun safe has a combination in the minimum. Easily secured. If she didn’t keep the combination from him then she didn’t secure the weapons.

If you’re inferring he tortured her to get the combination then killed her then it’s STILL her fault. And his of course.

      • Kevin Krom

According to the empirical evidence, no “gun control” law has ever succeeded in reducing murder. In fact, they’re typically followed by INCREASES in murder, and other types of violent crime (especially assaults).

The only thing that has been demonstrated to prevent or reduce the casualties in these “mass shooting” incidents is firearms in the hands of civilians.

But the Smartest President Ever isn’t even considering lifting the federal prohibition against firearms in schools, and at least leaving the decision up to the states and the local districts.

I’m actually starting to think that the community organizer may actually be overstepping his bounds. There are millions upon millions of parasitic democratic voters who would vote for barry even if he sacrificed a few of their illegitimate children. However, there are also of millions of democrats who vote for obama because their unions told them to, or their hatred of people who actually make money drive them to. However, they are also outdoors folks, hunters, good old boys, rednecks and all the people who blame Republicans for their troubles but also love their guns. The puke in the WH is really planning to violate the Constitution by executive powers, and eventually when the news reaches the hollers and hills where many of these people live, they are not going to be amused. At that point, things are going to get very interesting.

I think he should ban all magazine clips, especially for bolt action shotguns…that will sure show all you gun nuts.

Magazine clips? Is he going to ban couponing now? Does he have any idea how dangerous couponers can be?

With 300 million firearms in private hands (one-third of them pistols), the overwhelming majority of gun owners ARE responsible, law-abiding citizens, which is why horrific massacres are not commonplace, but rather terrible outliers that can never be legislated away (e.g. DC, Chicago, and “Gun Free Zones”).

For several examples for the recent use of firearms for defensive purposes not typically reported by the national media please visit: http://www.equalforce.net and forward this site to others to whom this information may be useful. @EqLF1
