Yes, yes it did.

Oh, my! Using the hashtag #SenatorColbert, Stephen Colbert is angling to become Senator DeMint’s replacement, when he heads over to head The Heritage Foundation.

And tweet, they did. Governor Dean was not alone.

Alas, Governor Haley put the kibosh on it.

And from her Facebook page:

The Colbert Report Stephen, thank you for your interest in South Carolina’s U.S. Senate seat and for the thousands of tweets you and your fans sent me.

But you forget one thing, my friend.

You didn’t know our state drink. Big, big mistake.

Twitter users are still giving it a valiant effort, though. The hashtag is still going strong!

Who will be next with a Howard Dean-style endorsement? Perhaps Jennifer Granholm. Again.

Sure, the Senate’s already a joke, why not another crappy comedian.

    • conservativechick

OMG save us! Just when you thought things could not get any worse!!!

  • stuckinIL4now

One more example of how ridiculous and unhinged the Dembeciles are. Let’s pile on the ridiculousness.

Alvin Greene! Alvin Greene! Alvin Greene! At least he lives in South Carolina.

  • GaryTheBrave

One must be a resident of the state one represents. Unless you’re a Democrat. It doesn’t seem to be an issue with WV Sen. Rockefeller.

  • EOD

Liberals seek yet another U.S. Senate Seat to be put up for sale.
    How sad is that?
Just what was Colbert’s final bid for the Seat?…. How much is each Tweet worth in cold hard cash?

  • Kate

    Great comeback, Gov. Haley!

  • Peyton

Why not Stephen Colbert for Senate. The libs think Ashley Judd would be great for a kentucky. Stephen has much better ideas than her.

    • yahneverknow

At least he’s not stupid. *shrug*

  • Blackheart_Six

Why not? We are a celebrity nation now. The View for SCOTUS!

  • TundraThunder

Just what we need, another lefty comedian in D.C.!

I think I just passed gas more interesting or intelligent than Steve Cole Bert.

  • tsluf273

And Al Franken remains the only Senate Dem. that doesn’t make me laugh.

  • Chris Rippel

Republicans who accepted Ronald Reagan as President and Arnold Schwartzennegger as Governor are being hypocrites if they sneer at Colbert because he is comedian

  • ClassicFilm

Perhaps they’ll consider actor/comedian Jamie Foxx, because hey, you just can’t have too many Democrat racists in Congress who consider Obama their ‘lord and savior.’
