Oh, China’s state-run media! Propaganda is hard! The satirical magazine, The Onion, ran a piece naming the dictator “sexiest man alive.”  China’s Communist Party news site totally ran with it. As fact.

No, really.

You really can’t make this stuff up.

Oh, our aching sides! Hey, remember when Stephanie Cutter cited the propaganda agency as a “must read?” And Joe “Gaffetastic” Biden then also embraced the Chinese propaganda? Good times, good times!

It gets better: A Korean news outlet reports it as fact as well.

From Korea Times:

The Onion has announce that North Korean supreme leader Kim Jong-un, 29, has officially been named the newspaper’s Sexiest Man Alive for the year 2012.

“With his devastatingly handsome, round face, his boyish charm, and his strong, sturdy frame, this Pyongyang-bred heartthrob is every woman’s dream come true,” the paper reported.

Officially! Reported! Stop, we can’t take much more.

Source!

Sadly, or hilariously, these news sites were not alone.

Oh, dear. Bless.

Oh, Twitter will remember. For a long time to come. Thanks for the long-term giggles, state-run mouthpiece!

Heh.
