Where are your pom-poms, Andrea?

As Twitchy reported, Democrats used “weather” as an explanation for the smaller venue for President Obama’s DNC speech tonight. They totally would have filled the stadium. Yeah, that’s the ticket.

But, wait a tic … what’s this?

Democrats don’t need no stinkin’ meteorologists! Anyway, they have the media to spin for them. Spin like the wind! Here they are breathlessly reporting rain in Charlotte. RAIN!!!1111

The New York Times.

The Washington Post and MSNBC.

CNN.

A deluge! And many would have been on line. Oh, the humanity!

CNBC and BET. With picture. Case. Closed!

KSTP-TV

More CNN.

Reuters.

More MSNBC in the form of Chuck Todd.

He has pictures, too! Look how frightening it looks!

And CNN’s Howard Kurtz.

A monsoon. Oh, for cripes sake. Howard? Bless your heart. Maybe it’s time for another lesson?

Hmm. Can you tell the difference between “real journalists” and DNC communications director, Daily Kos’s Markos Moulitsas and Democrat strategist/CNN commentator Donna Brazile?

Yep. Neither can we.

Politico sets you silly Republicans straight!

The Obama cheerleaders in the media are at it again.

Put your pom-poms down, media. It’s just embarrassing now.

Heh.

Update: What will they do now? As on-scene Twitter reports indicate, the totally racist Charlotte skies are clear and blue!

Ominous!

  • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

Holy crap! 45,000 people have to make their way home now? I don’t think they will find enough buses….

    • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

Woot! Rated down for correct math! MItchell claims 65k would be waiting in the rain… less than 20k capacity in the new venue. 65k(total people in line)-20k(seating capacity) = 45k(going home!)

      • Cyborg0012

        You math witch.

      • redheadgrl

        I guess in #democratmath 65K=20K

        • TomJB

Well, $4T in debt over 8 years is “unpatriotic” and $5T in debt over 4 years is “not enough time to do what needs to be done”… so yeah, Id say you are correct, redheadgrl

    • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

Hehe…that’s one detail the Dems forgot to deal with in their story. If they suddenly have 45K people (possibley angry they were denied entry into ObamAA+’s speech tonite in the smaller venue), we’d better see at least that many standing around outside (especially since there will be no rain tonite at speechtime).

      • Robin Nelson-Herlihy

Exactly Corey! I wonder, if the local media may have come across some of those 45k people and ask them for opinions of disappointment for not being allowed to go inside and see the annointed one! Oh, and also, I took a looksee at Obama’s speech….did anyone notice that some of the top back-row seats were empty? I mean, crap could they not have squeezed a few of the unfortunate 45k people left out in the pouring rain to make the 20k stadium 100% full? I think we Americans are smarter than Obama’s game this time.

  • http://twitter.com/StroKevin Kevin Alderman

They better hope it doesn’t turn into 40 days of flood!

  • Melvin_Udall

Whether it rains or not does not change the fact that there was exactly the same chance of rain for the Great Greek column speech they refused to cancel when they decided to cancel this one.

    • Bullshot Bill

You guys are really grasping. I know it sucks to have Romney as your only choice, but seriously, you look even more unhinged and idiotic than usual.
Clinton was a better speaker than Clint, too. Gotta hate doncha!

      • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

Hmm. Your own post seems a little hate-filled in its own right. Ah, love hypocrisy.

        • Gabby Parsons

You mean it doesn’t suck to have a vulture capitolist how is totally out of touch with the average American as a candidate?

          • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

            Spellcheck: Vulture=Venture, capitolist=capitalist(?) how=who(??).
You assume I would have chosen either candidate. You shouldn’t assume.

          • https://twitter.com/AlessaRosewater Maria

I suppose it’s better than a socialist named Barry.

          • redheadgrl

I’d rather have a “vulture capitolist” any day – they know how to create jobs! 2 of the 4 companies I’ve worked for in the past 2 years were started with VC money.

      • https://twitter.com/AlessaRosewater Maria

It’s merely opinion. You have one, I have one. We both have one. They differ. It’s a fact of life. Move on as your folks like to say.

      • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

As weak as Romney may be…he’s still gonna kick yer boy in his grape sack in November. That’s really gotta frost you, huh?

    • stillinthe60s

Greek columns didn’t get Obama elected. It was the editorial columns.
But now, rain or shine, everyone has had 3.5 years to see Obama’s all wet and the meme-stream media can’t blow dry the Prezi enough to sell him to the public a second time.

    • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

Damn you and your facts sir!

  • ej1

You are all so cute, thinking that President Obama couldn’t fill the venue. You must be feeling increasingly desperate about your chances of “taking back” the country if all you’ve got is this silly stuff. Sorry your guy sucks so hard.

    • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

Uh.. we think that, because he couldn’t.

      • Bullshot Bill

You meant, “Duh derp.” Didn’t you?

        • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

No, if I meant that, I would have typed that. Are you being facetious?

        • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

No…we mean you guys are lying…again.

      • The Truth

And your proof of that is? Oh wait, you’re Republican. Facts just get in the way of your narrative.

        • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

I’m not Republican. There’s a fact for you.

      • $28804792

Uh, they sold out and there was a huge wait list. Why do Republicans have such a hard time dealing with reality? I don’t think it was really the weather that they moved it for – I think they just decided it would look better in the convention hall after all. But filling the stadium was never an issue – people were waiting for hours to get on the wait list.

        • Evan3457

No evidence of that except for what the Obama campaign put out. In other words, no real reason to believe it.

          • $28804792

So instead you will believe whatever you want without any evidence? That makes sense… (also, there is evidence – the actual people on the wait list and the extremely long lines to get on the wait list. But of course, a tea bagger can just dismiss any facts that don’t go along with their version of reality)

          • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

Where’s your evidence to the contrary then?

          • $28804792

Like I already said – my evidence is the people who waited in line to get tickets. My friends and family in NC who were unable to get tickets. What is your evidence? It’s really pathetic that this is what you are clinging to. Must be very scared if all you can talk about it some fake conspiracy over whether or not Obama can fill a stadium.

          • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

Yes, this is all we can talk about. We can’t discuss the real issues, because we get stonewalled with “It’s Bush’s fault.”

          • ta2t2o

Bush – it’s like Voldemort for Republicans. He whose name must not be said. Shame on you.

          • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

            Who?

          • AJs Daddie

My evidence is that they were giving away tickets in bars. That they were busing people in from surrounding areas. I mean, seriously, you guys really are reaching.

          • Robin Nelson-Herlihy

@raz6: others here have posted links to their evidence? You have none….you have no credibility, and that is called SPIN!!! Post your evidence and maybe gain some respect.

          • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

Maybe they weren’t hanging out in the right bars then…cuz the convention organizers were doing anything they could to give away all the tickets, to include bars.

        • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

Hmmm…so they ‘sold out’? Hmmm…so sho decided which ticket holders get into the new venue? Did those who are being denied entry into the fotomat…er arena, get a refund on their tickets? Wouldn’t that cause a lot of, fighting and rioting? Wow. These breathless fans, I mean supporters who are just dying to get into see the Chicago Jeebus sure are taking their rejection calmly.

So many questions the Dems haven’t answered in their alibi…err, explanation.

That’s what’s surprising about this particular episode: Dems…they’re normally such good liars, they don’t let details like this go unanswered.

          • Gabby Parsons

People understood. We support our candidate. We actually like our candidate and his beauiful wife. And better still, he seems to like us as well. Your candidate appears to be very uncomfortable talking to average people. He saves it for the NASCAR owning friends. Unless you are a wealthy donor, he could not are less about your concerns. He has shown that over and over again. But go ahead. Support a man that would destroy the middle-class. Who needs a middle class anyway. Life is better when it;s lords and serfs, right

          • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

Oh…they “understood” did they? people travel supposedly from all across this country, took time off work, spent money on travel and hotel rooms, and now are being told that because they might get wet, they are being denied entry into the highltight of the convention? And they’re OK with it?

Pardon me while I stand here not believeing you.

And you still haven’t answered the question as to which ticket holders get in, and which ones don’t.

          • https://twitter.com/AlessaRosewater Maria

            That’s why we don’t support Obama. :)

          • ta2t2o

          • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

Feel free. Show us the proof that it was ‘sold out.’ Go ahead…dazzle us.

          • Robin Nelson-Herlihy

Yeah, where were the disappointed voters that were turned away? Did they get their money back? Did the media interview anyone? I mean, if some had to cash in their food stamps to get a ticket in to see the annointed one, then be turned away….heck that should have started a ruckus outside the convention!

        • http://twitter.com/Two_of_Five Amie Holladay

Ummm, sold out? I’m pretty sure they were begging people to meet them in bars & giving them away. Maybe I just dreamed that, though:

        • Robin Nelson-Herlihy

Where is your proof? Huffington Post? Rolling Stone? Perhaps Entertainment Tonight did a special? Oh, and could there not have been a stadium that had somewhat comparable numbers to the BOA stadium? I mean for so many followers to be turned away from the Annointed One….Shame, shame!

    • Shrinque

Actually, they said they had 65,000 tickiet holders for a stadium which holds 73,000 for football and well over 80k with seating on the field.

Come on… you gotta’ do better than that. What amazes me is that you didn’t even blink at the death of a woman and a impeached ex-president. Somehow the chair pales in comparison.

Funny how Thunderstorms were predicted a few days ago, and guess what is due to happen in the next couple of hours? Oh, and it was likely that the TV networks wanted it pulled from the stadium. Thunder swept conventions don’t make good T.V.

  • harx1

I’m a little confused. So, you want tens of thousands of people to get rained on? Why? What do you gain from that? You just sound really bitter about the DNC having made the right decision about the venue.

        • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

I don’t see all the many people who had problems standing in the rain when the convention opened. The DNC even took their umbrellas away. Surely, with a lowered chance of precip today than on that day, considering Obama wasn’t even in the state at that time, people wouldn’t have minded waiting in an outdoor venue for the President to speak?

    • http://www.facebook.com/mickey.byrd.12 Mickey Byrd

You are the ones that said “come rain or shine”… just another lie, huh? 5:00 PM here in Charlotte, 4 miles south of BoA Stadium, brief downpour over, I never heard any thunder nor saw any lightning, bright sunshine, puffy white clouds, clearing radar. I think Team Obama moved their show not because of concerns over weather, but actually over concerns over whether–whether they could show all the empty seats or even whether they could afford the rent at BoA stadium.

    • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

Oh…Is Obama speaking between midnight and 1 AM?

            Try harder.

          • $28804792

Sorry, I overestimated your reading comprehension skills. “A chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight” – that means there is a chance of rain before midnight. “Chance of precipitation is 50%.” That refers to the chance of precipitation tonight – not just between midnight and 1am.

Since that might be too complicated for you, see the hourly forecast I posted above, or the one from the website you used:

            http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=35.22709&lon=-80.84312669999997&unit=0&lg=english&FcstType=graphical

Notice those green and red bars between 7PM and midnight? That means there is a chance of rain and thunder tonight – and most of it between 7PM and midnight (very little chance between midnight and 1 AM).

You are a good example of why we need to invest in better education.

          • ta2t2o

Just saw the forecast and you’re absolutely right – there’s a 0% chance of you seeing Obama’s speech rained out tonight. Leave your umbrella at home. Bin Laden is dead and GM is alive.

          • http://twitter.com/Two_of_Five Amie Holladay

Did you really just use a Biden line? That’s really pathetic. Tax-payers have lost $25 billion on GM so far and that number keeps rising as GM’s stock prices, revenue and sales fall. Please, keep bragging on that great accomplishment.

          • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

Oh…isn’t that cute you got a chance to use your worthless little Biden bumper sticker line. By the way, George W. Bush says ‘you’re welcome’ for the bin Laden hit. It was, after all, his policies that made it possible.

          • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

They can’t leave it at home… the DNC already confiscated them!

          • dstouffermd

The midnight and 1am reference is to “isolated showers,” while the rest of the time has “a chance of showers and thunderstorms.” There is an overall 50% — not zero — chance of showers between now and the morning.

          • ta2t2o

Didn’t you write “A chance of showers and thunderstorms before midnight” I do believe he is speaking before midnight. Seems the only thing at 0% are your hopes of seeing his speech rained out. Once again – just as with Bin Laden – POTUS made the smart choice.

    • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

Is ObamAA+ speaking right now (as the ‘monsoon’ is finishing up) or is he speaking later tonite (when there’s 0% chance of rain)?

Can you clear that up for us?

No, I said that it is NOT raining. It did rain and Mrs. Bernanke and Mr. Todd had their little happy dance but it is dry as it gets now. Radar is clear in a 2-county radius. Just beautiful out there.

Malkin is nothing but low level gutter waste. She is the worst kind of parasite, the kind who makes her living tossing out hateful, red meat to morons who mindlessly nod their heads at her every utterance. Such a shame that there are thoughtful conservatives who barely get any media time, but the MSM will put on this hateful piece of garbage because her mean, nasty rhetoric draws the eyeballs and ears of low information wing nuts.

Was it smart to move it inside or was it stupid to have scheduled it outside in the first place? And no, you couldn’t have filled the outdoor stadium… not unless you paid some more media to attend. Or have they all been paid already?

Republicans are a national embarrassment. They are like petulant little poopypants crybabies. It’s sad. But hey…whatever makes them feel better about the fact that their candidate sucks and they will LOSE in November. Unfortunately for you desperate Teabag freaks, all the tickets to the Obama stadium event were taken and there was a 19,000 person waiting list. Don’t let facts get in the way of your childish tantrums. Now continue your desperate, sore loser snark as needed.

Your tears come this November when ObamAA+ gets thumped…they will nourish us.

      • TGuerrant

And then what? You start two more wars you can neither win nor finance, triple the deficit like you always do when in the White House, crank unemployment through the roof, cut off health care to everybody but the millionaires, end public education, and keep paying $30 a head to line up and see those fantastic statues in Kentucky of Cain and Abel riding baby dinosaurs! Huzzah!

        • http://www.facebook.com/corey.dennison Corey Dennison

Triple the deficit? Wow…ObamAA+ more than quadrupled it in less than half W’s time, so we’re money ahead already.

        • https://twitter.com/AlessaRosewater Maria

Actually Barry has piled on more deficit than any other President in one term. Just saying.
And I’d rather have no health care than Obamacare, thank you. The Libbies have already destroyed public education.

You can’t plan a stadium show if it’s assumed in advance that it couldn’t be filled to capacity. Holy crap, the energy you people spend contorting yourself so that you can always be correct, rather than simply admit you’re wrong. It’s a sickness…

“It has always been raining in Eastasia.”

And let me get this straight for the liberal users that suddenly felt the need to comment: so, only unhinged whiners are talking about this story and it’s totally not a big deal… yet you felt the need to talk about it? Yeah… right… Cause nothing says “better than you” than doing the exact same thing as those you mock. And all on the Internet, no less. Not exactly the bastion of superiority.

And if it’s really rain that’s responsible for Obama moving into a smaller venue, then why did Democrats opt to schedule their big convention in an open stadium in a part of the country that frequently sees rainfall every September? *cough* Basically, either Democrats got nervous about small crowds… or Democrats are overwhelmingly incompetent. Of course, it’s not like these options are mutually exclusive.

I don’t know if this has already been mentioned or not, but didn’t the dems already have to deal with a capacity issue for this convention? I’d read somwehere that Lowe’s Motor Speedway had been the original location for the event, but they had to downsize to BofA stadium instead because they couldn’t fill the seats.

And then they downsized again to the basketball stadium for last night’s finale, and even then there were empty seats. For all those touting the overwhelming number of bookings for the BofA stadium seats, do you have hard numbers to back that up? I’d also like to hear about the venues where admission passes/tickets were given away and how many were distributed that way.

  • conservativechick
