Newsweek's Michelle Goldberg: Ann Romney is kind of like Hitler and Stalin; Update: Faux apology issued

Obviously. That’s why she totally Godwinned herself on MSNBC. See, Ann Romney wrote a piece about Mother’s Day in which she praised mothers and said that one hat moms never take off is “the crown of motherhood.” Egads, the horror! Michelle Goldberg had this to say in response:

“I found that phrase ‘the crown of motherhood’ really kind of creepy, not just because of its, like, somewhat you know, I mean, it’s kind of usually really authoritarian societies that give out like ‘The Cross of Motherhood,’ that give awards for big families. You know, Stalin did it, Hitler did it.”

She went on to call it “insipid, condescending praise.”

But she obviously — obviously — did not compare her to Hitler or Stalin, all while comparing her to Hitler and Stalin. Nice doublespeak, Michelle. She also doesn’t know the meaning of condescending; praising mothers and acknowledging all that they do is not condescending. Unless, of course, you are someone who, like Hilary Rosen, believes that mothers are worthless.

The sane aren’t falling for it.

Lefties of course agree with her because, you know, mothers aren’t real or serious women and all. They should just sit there and look purty.

It is those who walk in lockstep with an anti-woman, Leftist agenda who cannot think independently.

Ms. Goldberg continued trying to deny that she made the comparison, while making the comparison again. Thinking is hard.

Michelle Goldberg is now bravely running away.
