A man died at a Georgia Walmart died today after being tackled and detained by two store employees and a contract security officer. The dead man was apprehended after the alleged theft of two DVD players. Most retail chain stores have strict policies against touching alleged thieves, and Walmart is no different.

Reaction to the death has been decidedly mixed. Put these folks in the “robbing has consequences” camp:

More seemed to agree with a Walmart spokesman who opined that “No amount of merchandise is worth someone’s life.”

The reportage makes no mention of politics, but that didn’t stop some observers from imposing theirs onto the storyline:

You know what they say about what happens when you assume? Repeat. Often.

Dear Shoplifters: See above tweets for people to rob. @Anonymous_420, @RepublicanDalek, @cpstylin, @Cajun_Manor, @IAmChocl8t, @redditanarchism, and countless others on twitter think thieves should not be apprehended. Go nuts robbing them. They deserve it.

As an ex-Loss prevention officer I say good. Cannot abide thieves. I understand the difference of those that steal because of need, but those are few and far between. Most of these D-bags steal for thrill, sell at local swapmeets/flea markets, or direct trade for drugs. We were allowed to go hands-on and handcuff these turds because we were trained and insured. Can’t count how many times a weapon was pulled by these turds over fucking jeans.

    Karma’s a betch.

Anyone ever heard of the story of the guy stealing from a church’s collection plate? Upon being caught, he ran out of the church and was promptly hit by a bus.

  • Stephanie Warren

Well he shouldn’t have been stealing =3=

I’ll bet that Walmart has fewer shoplifters after word gets around, 1 scumbag criminal down, & they even saved the taxpayer the cost of the trial. Time to stop coddling crooks, make it actually dangerous to be criminal. today he’s ripping off DVD’s, tomorrow he’s raping someone’s daughter. I say good riddence. then again, I’ve had my house robbed before so I have first hand experience. the cops were utterly useless, I had to find the guy myself. didn’t get quite all my stuff back, but I convinced the guy that If i saw him again he was dead. how many people in my town were saved from having their houses broken in to I’ll never know.

Thieves will now picket and protest Wal-Mart. Film at 11:00 pm.

I’m having a really hard time working up the Give A Shit to feel sorry for this fool.

With the number of cameras and roving eyes throughout a store. Especially during the Christmas season.

If you’re hard up and dumb enough to grab something. You pays your quarter
and you takes your chances. In other words. All bets are off and you
deserve the beat down you receive.

    They still make DVD players?

Unfortunate and definitely something those three people must be held accountable for. The police should have been called to handle the situation instead.

Do you think the police would have been able to reach the shoplifter in time? Are you similarly comfortable condemning the employees as guilty beyond a reasonable doubt based upon the limited information we currently have?

      • http://www.shockandblog.com/ Jay McHue

Criminal apprehension doesn’t need to happen immediately on the spot.

    • Liberal Hater

So why isn’t the thief accountable?

      • http://www.shockandblog.com/ Jay McHue

In the grand scheme of Creation, he apparently was.

  • riddler1620

Liberals, this is not like Victor Hugo’s Les Miserable. Poor people who are starving steal bread, not DVD players. The country is going to he’ll and liberals are busy looking out for criminals while the working American is getting hosed.

The left supports criminals? What else is new?

If you come to steal from my house, I will shoot you twice in the chest and once in the face with a .40 S&W Glock in less time than it takes you to wonder WTF just happened. The only way to avoid this happening to you is not to come to my house to steal my stuff. Life (and death) is so simple that way.

there is no such thing as a S&W Glock in any caliber, but nice bluff anyway.

      • medicinewomantwo

        Glock .40 S&W google it, it’s sweet

        • JustLikeAnimals

It is sweet!! Glock 23 Gen4 .40 S&W and a concealed carry permit. Life is good. =)

      • Brian E.

.40 S&W is a type of ammunition, no reason why Glock can’t make a pistol that uses it, especially considering that the .40 S&W is popular with law enforcement.

        • JustLikeAnimals

Yep. Most federal LEO’s have it as well. Righteous sidearm.

You’re such a dumbass, dumbass. Go sit in the corner, drink your Obama-issued Kool-Aid, and let the big people talk.

Just cut his hand off………..sometimes the middle east gets it right.

“Killed over stealing a DVD player” is not really what I would like my obituary to read.

“If you steal from me, I’m gonna say ‘You stole’.”

  • Liberal Hater

Maybe the fucker shouldn’t have stolen DVD players. If it was bread or food, I’d have compassion. DVD players? Fucks no.
