Garrett Haake, a reporter for NBC in Kansas City, is flying from Kansas City to Denver today. Unfortunately, United Airlines seems to be having some difficulties.

After a two-hour delay, United finally pushed back the plane from the gate. Just then, a United worker miraculously appeared at the side of the plane. This worker — let’s call him Exit Door Man — opened the plane’s emergency exit door from the outside.

(The guy in the middle, however, looks pretty chill.)

    What. A. Bunch. Of. Morons.

No wonder my friends (who fly a LOT for business) don’t fly UAL anymore. Even my brother, who despises Delta, will fly them over UAL.

    Good luck, Garrett…

Anything? Were they allowed to have alcohol complementary?

Because if I had to sit there, I would need lots of alcohol. And I don’t even drink.

    • Chevypowered

Same here. I don’t drink but I would have ordered a double of everything. If I go I don’t want to feel a damn thing!

I have to admit, there is little that rattles me at this stage of my life.
This would rattle me. They don’t have enough booze on that plane to change that either.

yea, Dewey, Cheatem, & Howe too. :-)

Look on the bright side…the people in that row will get to watch the in flight movie from the airplane flying next to them.

Garrett Haake, you call yourself a newsman?

There’s something really important missing from your tweets here.
Like, namely: Did you ask anyone WHY the door had been opened in the first place?
Was it not securely locked? Did the guy do it for a lark? Was a SWAT team supposed to board, realized “wrong plane,” and scrubbed the mission?

WHAT GIVES? Being you’re a newsman, TELL US!

I think Guy brings up some very good points.

It appears to me there may be a problem with the left phalange.

You’re name says it all, and your comment slayed me. Thanks 😉

    Friendly skies, indeed

That’s the kind of flight where the landing gear pins aren’t Removed Before Flight :-)

    Meanwhile, up in the cockpit…

Good old Union ground crew confused the Emergency Exit Door for the Cargo Door! Time to fly Southwest! At least they would have had a good joke to go with it.

  • yestradamous

Yes, it’s a little weird, but why would it make anybody nervous? Is the baggage guy gonna ride on the wing and open it mid-flight?
