That’s the George Zimmerman trial takeaway from MSNBC host Rachel Maddow’s @MaddowBlog.
Mia Farrow echoed that logic:
Today, like many parents of black sons, I will remind them to watch their backs, be deferential if stopped by white men, stay out of Florida.

UK Guardian columnist Gary Younge said much the same thing:
Appeals for calm in the wake of such a verdict raise the question of what calm there can possibly be in a place where such a verdict is possible. Parents of black boys are not likely to feel calm. Partners of black men are not likely to feel calm. Children with black fathers are not likely to feel calm. Those who now fear violent social disorder must ask themselves whose interests are served by a violent social order in which young black men can be thus slain and discarded.
Here are two facts that these liberals aren’t mentioning:
1) Trayvon Martin beat the living daylights out of Zimmerman before Zimmerman shot him.
2) Most violent crime against black people is committed not by people who look like George Zimmerman but by other black people.
A 2007 special report released by the Bureau of Justice Statistics, reveals that approximately 8,000 — and, in certain years, as many as 9,000 African Americans are murdered annually in the United States. This chilling figure is accompanied by another equally sobering fact, that 93% of these murders are in fact perpetrated by other blacks.
