Dr. Kristin Held, a San Antonio-based opthamologist, is live-tweeting the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery Government Relations session. The conference is being held this weekend in San Francisco.

The topic of the Government Relations session is complying with and implementing Obamacare.  Dr. Held doesn’t like what’s she’s hearing, and she’s not the only one. Indeed, almost all the doctors have walked out of the meeting.

Have you heard of concierge medicine? If not, don’t worry. You will soon.

Update: Typo fixed in headline.

“Hope Doc Barack can care 4 all his patients.”

We’re the ones stuck with the bill, regardless.

    • RWJS

Do not pay it. Simply do not pay it.
Stop paying for your own downfall. Stop supporting this BS.
You are going to have to make a stand, eventually, one way or another. Why not make your stand now, when it will do the most good? When it will have the best chance of making a difference?
Soon it might be too late to do anything about it.

  • Dandee

Americans always find a way. Concierge medicine has been in the works a long time, there’s even a tv show…….

    • beebop1952

That’s great if you can afford it. But when you are over 62, living on zero interest investments that you selected because there was low risk …. its the death panels or nothing!

  • Danny Wheeler

Man, this isn’t looking good for Obozocare!

    • beebop1952

He’s having a terrible week. Do you think that he drowned his sorrows on 2 for 22 or on the links?

      • Torqued

I hope he drowns in the toilet.

        • beebop1952

          Much better!

        • TocksNedlog

All of his policies have clogged it.

    • pajamakat

Nothing looks for the dems but the MSM will report that there were “thousands” of docs in attendance and how they just love obamacare.

      • stellatruman

        * if * they report at all

        • bigkahuna9

its going to be up to the alt. media and 2014 candidates and doctors with their patients..and employeers who are being screwed and have to pass the screwing on to their employees. They need to be told exactly why they are losing insurance, hours, jobs, money !

  • AaronHarrisinAlaska

Concierge medicine was exactly what liberals having been trying to avoid, calling it the commercialization of medicine, yet that’s exactly what it’s slowly coming to under Obama. Ironic.

    • MarcusFenix

That’s the beauty of liberalism….creating problems that didn’t exist by messing up something they believe they can “improve”.

      • Jan Parker

        Very well put!

      • bidentime

Change “improve” to “control” and you’ll be spot on.

        • MarcusFenix

Well, to be fair, I did put improve in quotes, so it’s widely open to interpretation, but good call. :)

    • fuskiegirl21

I like the Concierge Medicine idea for doctors, but it is illegal in Canada and I have a feeling they will make it illegal here too.

    • Stephen M. Collins

Liberals have been trying to avoid it simply because that’s what the private sector is trying to work out to have proper doctor/patient relationships. The only reason we need to have commercialization of medicine is to counteract the socialization of medicine that BEGAN with health insurance (bargained for and supported by unions and the IRS). Health insurance IS socialized medicine!

    • jamesben

That’s what they have in England – if you can afford it – you use a pay per service doctor – if not, you take your chances with the National Health Service. It sucks, and that’s what Obamacare is doing to our healthcare system.

      • Clayton Grant

My wife is from England. She has many horror stories about all 4 systems in Britain’s NHS.

Liberal policies always have the exact opposite effect of what they intended. Always.

      • SkyePuppy

Agreed. Although I suspect that liberal policies always have exactly the effect of what they intended. It’s just that it’s the exact opposite of what they SAY they intended. Always.

Agreed, but it’s what’s in their hearts and minds that makes them even more attractive. I’ve seen a few physically attractive Liberal women (emphasis on few), but when they start spouting the talking point du jour, they lose a few points in the beauty department. Know what I mean?

A few attractive liberal women? Where? In New York they are all aging hippie earth mothers. It’s painful to look at them and I always feel bad and wanna offer them my shower, makeup, nail polish and a shopping trip.

Angelina Jolie, Halle Berry, Jessica Alba, Charleeze Theron – all Liberal. As for beautiful Liberal politicians … nope. Can’t find one!
Next thing we know, they’ll want to start some kind of Beauty Redistribution Program.

          • Cyd Carlson

And how many toothless wonders and mindless sheep does the Republican party have? Pleanty and I’ll throw in the bigots for free! So glad I raised my children to be thoughtful non-racist people. You people on here take one issue on healthcare and turn it into a nasty name
calling bunch of tripe. How can you look yourselves in the mirror and see no flaws?

          • Adam Baumb

What a monumental failure that was, Cyd. Riddle me this, oh liberal dunce: How bigoted is the party that actively fought every major desegregation effort, served as the body politic and functional leadership of the Ku Klux Klan, forcibly resists efforts to liberate minorities trapped in its permanent underclass, and demonstrates staggering levels of hypocrisy on virtually every social issue humanity faces? How bigoted is the Democratic Party that does all that, furthermore, has destroyed the economies, lives, and freedoms of those cities and states where they hold sway? Do not — in this galaxy — attempt to portray Republicans as bigots or otherwise. You liberals are the biggest frauds since the Nazis — nearly on the Kim Poon Loon North Korea level — with your sycophantic, dishonest media and counterfeit intellectuals. Liberals and the Democrats are petty, racist, ignorant cowards who only rise in anger when their vanity and solipsism is exposed. America created these morons, now America must dispose of them.

          • Charlotte Pendleton

Sir. I’ve been reading some of your posts, and you tell it like it is. Thank-you. The things that are going on in this great country now are unbelievable. These liberal, self-serving, ignorant people have to be stopped. It is going to be a hard thing to do with Obama bribing every sector he thinks he can get votes. When someone has the United States Treasury as their campaign fund, it makes it doubly hard.I could write a book on this subject. The injustices and deceit is staggering. Again, thank-you for standing up so competently for our Country.

Define racist. You mean folks who want lower taxes, a leaner and more efficient government and personal responsibility? Is that the new definition of the word “racist.” If not please describe one “racist” policy of Republican, please. You do know your party’s history, don’t you? Perhaps not because of the wonderful public schools. Well google it, dear.

You are putting Angelina Jolie in the attractive category. Better go to Dr. Held and get those eyes checked. Jessica Alba used to be beautiful, but is beginning to look a bit used. I have always believed Halle Berry looks like something from a foreign planet. Charleeze Theron I can’t remember. I can drive down the street in my city and find a dozen beautiful women in minutes. Hollywood all looks used up to me.

Scrape off the clown paint, squeeze out the silicone and botox, undo the photoshopping and airbrushing, turn out the special enhancing lights, move the camera from their “best profile”, wet them down, then talk to me about Hollywood’s “beautiful Leftist females”. I’ve seen “Hollywood beauties” in person, in their jeans with no makeup, and they’re not all that. Mostly they present just a blank canvas face that, when well-painted, delivers an appealing two-dimensional picture. Seen in three dimensions, or worse, being around them in the fourth dimension, shows a lot of ugly.

          • Brian Roastbeef

Your mileage may vary on Angelina Jolie and Halle Berry… never did anything for me. Scarlett the skank either.

Glad you didn’t bring up Gillibrand though, the goto answer for “attractive” liberals. I’m in NY, and have seen her in person and she’s thoroughly in “meh” range. Short and kinda dumpy, and a prime candidate to expand outward in her 50s as Landrieu did. In general though, agreed: whatever they look like physically, when the stuff that comes out of their mouth is the same as what comes out of Schumer’s, they look no better than he does.

        • Sharon Foley

What this means is that the much higher price paid for Obamacare will be ON TOP of what you have to pay for actual medical care.

These Ophthalmologists can clearly see the problems associated with government-run health care.

      • Ofnir

Nah, they’re just setting every little standard about what can and can’t be done, when it can or can’t be done, pick what you can buy coverage for, mandate that you buy coverage or pay a yearly fine they’re calling a tax…

Last I checked, the regulations both docs and us have to comply with was 8 feet tall when printed out and was growing by an average of 20 pages a day -all legalese; some of it self-contradictory based on the analyses I
read, but nobody’s fully sure to what extent, not even the people
writing it, because the legalese is so thick even they can’t fully
understand it-. This was ~2 months ago.

  • Siobhan Flanagan

Ophthalmologists is correct spelling. Optometrists are salivating. They don’t attend med school but want to perform procedures and give meds like real docs – they are even called Dr so most people don’t know the difference . Obama will just allow them to cut open your eye with no training.

    • Nick Peiffer

You’re an idiot. This will harm optometrists just as much. We don’t want to do surgery, we already prescribe almost any med related to vision, and I took the same pharmacology courses my colleagues across the street took in med school. If you’re going to be an uniformed prick, at least keep your thoughts to yourself.

      • Siobhan Flanagan

I seriously doubt you took the same pharm courses I did at WashU. Perhaps the same courses as they take at Mercer. And yes, you all want to do more and more ophthalmology as the years go by. I know what I’m talking about.

    • DeeBeeCooper

this is more true than you realize… scary times ahead.

Health care is the LAST thing Ubamacare is about.

The first thing the feral government just wants to appropriate all the MONEY spent on health care and use it to enhance the fortunes of the big-government/big-corporate criminal complex.

The second thing the feral government wants to do is collect every shred of information on every US citizen into a central database and use that database to control every US citizen.

      • Jack Stewart

Oh, that’s what she thought- until she got her master’s in microbiology. She thought the jobs would be there. They are not. Employers are simply not hiring right now. She is talking about starting her own business, but we shall see how that goes. I worry for her, but she is smart, strong, and a good head on her shoulders. She will make it, even in these tough times.

    • David

Sad to hear. I wish her well.

    • Gooddog23

Anyone else noticing how king barry isn’t spouting off the wonders of his new obamacare bill? He doesn’t give a rip about the horrendous details-only that he along with those Rats in DC shoved it down our throats with arm twisting backroom deals in the dirty Senate.

  • Jennifer

Well, where were all the outraged doctors when the AMA endorsed it? Shame on the AMA (and the ANA) for that matter. And hardly a peep from the medical community during the debates and the election and now here we are. They should have spoke up loud and clear when Obama was trying to sell this and people might have listened. Too late now!!

    • Jeffrey Spence

We had to pass it so we could see what was in it.

      • LJ Roberts

That’s NONSENSE!!! I read the bill, all 900+ pages of it. They could have read the bill. Anyone could have read the bill. They were just too lazy to do it!

        • http://www.humanevents.com/ Camop62

You mean 2700 pages. And no you didn’t.

        • GaryTheBrave

How long did it take you to read it? They had it out less than 36 hours before the vote, AND the Dems locked out the GOP so it couldn’t be defeated or filiblustered.

      • David Langley

Turns out there’s some corn, and maybe a peanut

    • jamesben

I think a lot of doctors disagreed with the AMA endorsement. We’re really beginning to see that now.

    • Patrick Mumford

Debates? What debates? This was run through the senate and the house faster than crap through a goose. Don’t you remember Pelosi saying they had to pass it to find out what was in it? This has been a disaster since the beginning.

    • Philip Best

How could the Doctors stop it ? Even the Congress never read the bill. Many Doctors decided to retire early 1 day after Romney lost. NOW there will be a healthcare crisis.

    • plumberskid

70% of docs are NOT members of the AMA. That ought to tell you something right there.

      • http://www.facebook.com/margaret.king.583 Margaret King

That’s right. My husband’s doctor does not belong. He said that is the very high cost of the yearly dues. He said just not worth it.

      • Secede

The AMA is like congress- they claim to represent us but then vote the other way. The difference is that I can refuse to join the AMA and give them money.

    • SandyT

According to Dr. Ben Carson, only a very small percentage of doctors belong to the AMA.

  • GaylePutt

Dr. Held….you are amazing. My dad was an internist who retired back in the 80s. He was 65 – didn’t stay a day longer as he saw this sort of thing coming even then. We all applaud you!!!

Doctors can accept cash or credit cards for treatment but the government will find a way to regulate that as well…obama and his cronies will be exempt of course.

    • plumberskid

Have you ever heard of “the underground economy”? Medicine will soon become part of it. We’ll be back to bartering for services with no record-keeping, just like back in the day. Not that there’s anything wrong with that….

And if you don’t have the cash? Just curious. I lost my job and can’t afford COBRA, and can’t afford “affordable” insurance at my age group. Over $500 a month and I’m on unemployment. So, if you can’t afford the cash payment, or afford to pay for testing at a hospital if need be, what do we do?

Get another job. You want someone to drop by and give you money so you can sit and moan? (what’s that…..we are doing that now….!?!?) I wouldn’t admit I was mooching the system unless I included the fact that: I lived in a Democrat controlled area, 2) I voted for the Democrats, 3) I have no intention of finding a new job anytime soon because I’ve got money coming in the mail and the carnival huckster says I can go to any doctor and have my moles removed. Don’t leave out the important stuff, hoss. Get another f**king job, if not, move to where you can, and quit supporting Democrats. Otherwise, tough shitski.

our system was not great, because it was getting too expensive… the problem is that osamacare is NOT the answer… these ideologues have taken advantage of the obvious weaknesses of the system, which were scaring so many people, to install their own horrible solution, instead of engaging in honest, thoughtful brainstorming and debate, to come up with an honest, practical, comprehensive workable system. but not to worry folks… eventually this will be the undoing of this clown president and his knucklehead administration…. all the knuckleheads who voted for him will have very expensive egg on their face by 2016. Unfortunately the cost will be high, but freedom has always been costly, hasn’t it.

      • GaryTheBrave

Our medical care system started to become expensive when the law was passed that created HMO’s. Ostensibly HMO’s were established to control costs,,, smh.

        • DeeBeeCooper

you could very well be right,.. I don’t know much about HMOs, but if what you say is true, then more government interference is only bound to make things worse. When I look at canada and england, and elsewhere in europe, I see healthcare systems that scare the living dickens out of me.

        • AMSilver

Another factor is that the medical community is protected from monopoly laws. Insurance companies and medical companies are able to fix prices, which means that they can force the American consumer to pay extra so that citizens of other countries can get their goods for much less. There’s also the fact that healthcare providers never tell you up front what their services will cost, which makes it all but impossible for the consumer to shop around for the best deal. On top of that, you have the initial socialization of our healthcare system through that bill (whose name I’ve forgotten) that forbids hospitals to refuse care due to an inability to pay. It means that the prices of services for those who do pay are inflated to cover the services given to those who either cannot or do not.
None of that is to absolve government of its responsibility for this mess, however. All of those practices are either illegal for every other industry in this country and only allowed for the medical community due to interference by our government, or forced onto the medical community due to interference by government.

Finally, his debacle of Obamacare is turning out to be the disaster that every cognizant person said it would be. This so-called “president” must really be starting to wonder if the voter fraud that got him reelected was really worth it.

The American People can do no such thing. That is solely up to the U.S. House of Representatives, and somehow I do not see John Boehner too eager to begin such proceedings. Darryl Issa or Louis Gohmert, maybe, but Boehner??? I don’t see it. It would be wonderful, though.

We’re getting screwed by BOTH sides. Did you know Darrell Issa is the Osama bin Ladin of those Audio Terrorists and their Boomer Cars who assault your peace of mind and quality of life on a daily basis Check out this video:

            AUDIO TERRORISTS
Jihadis aren’t the only terrorists. We have these “Audio Terrorists” in their Boomer Cars who are plagueing our communities and destroying our quality of life and Peace and Quiet in every neighborhood in the country. They assault my home almost hourly on a daily basis. I can’t go anywhere in the city where I’m not being assaulted by them. While I’m eating in a restaraunt, walking down the street; everywhere. They’ve become an almost “constant” in our everday lives.
One thing I’ll bet you don’t know and that’s that Darrell Issa is the Osama bin Ladin of these Audio Terrorists. Issa is somebody that should be put in a bag full of cats and beat with a stick. He’s the founder of Viper Audio and former chairman of the powerful Consumer Electronics Asociation, which uses its financial muscle to lobby against citizens trying to enact local ordinances protecting peace and quiet!
He couldn’t do this if he didn’t have the help of our “representatives”; those “cowardly hand-wringers”, our local Police and City councils, (Like Lt. Manning and city councilman Mike Gardner here in Riverside CA.), who have given these punks their tacit approval and unconditional permission to bully and intimidate our communities and its citizens. (Or maybe “unconditionally surrendered” their constituents quality of life would be a better way of putting it.)
I’m asking you to please, PLEASE watch the Pioneer video “Disturb” at Noise Off.org. Scroll down to the stupid looking guy on the screen shot above “Pioneer Disturb”.
            http://www.noiseoff.org/boomcars.php
After you watch it tell me you didn’t want to reach through the screen and wring these punks obnoxious little necks. I’m asking you to please copy the following and pass the information out like religious tracts.
Why is this tolerated now when I know for a fact this wouldn’t have been tolerated for even an instant in the fifties? Maybe it’s along the lines of why we push “1 for English” and progressively allow ourselves to get raped and abused on every other level. I call them the “symptoms”of the disease which is the decline of America.
Here are some “ads”. They reflect the utter contempt that these companies and people like Issa, your city councilman and police have for Americans peace of mind. They’re actually making blatant, In Your Face advertisements saying F–k You to the American Public: Remember; they and their collaborators are saying this every time you’re assaulted by their noise.
JBL: “Either we love BASS or hate your neighbors.”
            JL Audio: “Be Very Afraid.”
Kicker: “You deserve a beating…Kicker’s loudest, meanest subwoofer ever!”
Concept “When TOO loud is… …just right!”
            Lightning Audio: “Sonic submission.”
Boss Audio System: “Turn it down? I don’t think so.”
Cerwin-Vega Mobile Audio: “Shake the living, wake the dead.”
            Crossfire: “We’re louder…Deal with it!”
Earthquake Sound: “The Meanest, Loudest, Most Powerful, Mother F— Amplifiers Money Can Buy!”
Viper Audio: “Cold Blooded. Violent Fury and Multi-Channel Mayhem.”
Orion High Performance Car Audio: “Be Loud. Be Obnoxious.”

“Obamacare” isn’t about “care,” its about EXPANDING governmental power.

    • DeeBeeCooper

yes… Osamacare is about the ideology of state as caretaker, run by the intellectual elite who tend to be atheistic in practice (regardless of what lip service they might offer to God in public), and actually believe that they are wiser than thousands of years of tradition that has held up very well regarding marriage, sex, family, education and liberty.

  • jdwilli09

It’s not just Doctors who are leaving and getting out of the medical care field. Office managers and billing dept. workers and other office staff also plan on leaving.

    • plumberskid

Better to try and find some other line of work now, than to have the rug pulled out from under you when your job is completely eliminated. With mandatory EMR, there will be little (if any) need for billers and coders in the not too distant future. Managers no longer have any leeway to run a practice in a way that makes sense for their doctor or group. Instead, they are only allowed to enforce the 58,000 or so regulations that have been foisted on us, and to prove that we are all “in compliance”.

      • jdwilli09

Thanks for the reply, great points. I have another post above. I’d like to have you take a look there and see what your thoughts are. A lot of Physical Therapists are going to be going private and not accepting anything but cash. There will be staffing shortages in a lot of areas. Even as Obamacare tries to create new positions to force out old jobs and make other jobs obsolete, there will still be a shortage of people that are needed that have certain degrees, experience and knowledge. So far they are only sending the new regulations that supposedly apply to your practice, so as to not overwhelm you with new regs, but I feel it won’t be long until someone is not completely in compliance and it will be because they were not provided with the proper regulations for their type/size/etc of practice. Which is why the folks I know want out. Everything causes a ripple effect.

    • Slapweasel

They lied to anti-abortion Democrats and sold others that wanted “Single-Payer” that it WAS going to be “Single-Payer” eventually.

  • jdwilli09

Premature postulation, I have different family members who do a variety of things in the field and I will tell you at least one of them plans on leaving at the end of Sept. 2014 because billing is going to change from 14K codes to over 68,000 in October 2014. Not at all worth going through all of that I guess. Almost 5X increase in the number of procedures or tests being done? Nope, just more Gov mess, and creating a system that nobody wants to learn or be involved with. We are going to have Doctors, nurses, PT’s, Office managers, billers, software companies, all leaving due to this horrible bill.

  • LibertyDwells

Just as safety is the last thing “gun control” is about, health is the last thing Obamacare is about. Does anyone, even the Obamabots, still believe the government cares about the people? This is all about control. Nothing else.

My best friend’s father-in-law, another doctor, said he will no longer accept Medicaid patients. My ex-wife’s doctor closed his office and went to work for a hospital. A doctor friend of mine retired early. This is just my experience in a small town.

A liberal idiot posting on a conservative website? You wouldn’t happen to vote Democrat, would you? BTW, I believe this: anyone that supported, supports, or might support this carnival huckster’s greatest scam is a certifiable moron. I can prove it.

          • oconnellc

The weird thing is, I don’t vote Democrat. I try to vote for people who don’t lie to me or insult my intelligence. I don’t find much of that from the Republican party these days. Nor on this website, either…

          • David

So you didn’t vote for the incompetent liar Oblamer I take it.

          • oconnellc

I see what you did there. His name is ‘Obama’, but you changed it. You don’t like him, so you decided to call him ‘Oblamer’. Nice. That is clever.

          • Adam Baumb

OK. Sucks to be you. See ya’. I find the occasional liberal dumbass dropping by to be more entertaining than informative — since liberals don’t know what information means, they resort to entertainment. And, judging from the commercial entertainment industry’s rapid decline, liberal domination of that aspect of American life left it just like it has every other liberal endeavor (that would be a monumental failure for you low information Democrats seeking rational dialogue). This website offers a perspective the frauds in commercial media refuse to provide; to wit, a bunch of lightweight Democrat sycophants kowtowing to their masters in ways that both embarrasses and angers legitimate Americans.

          • oconnellc

Jesus, you’re dumb. Michelle has a book she can sell you. Go buy it.

          • Adam Baumb

I doubt you have the intellect to expound on your absurd notion, but I’ll refer you to the standard liberal guide for escaping a discussion with your dignity intact. It requires some reading comprehension and the ability to process sage advice — traits no liberal has demonstrated in three decades. Here goes: you don’t vote Democrat. I suspect that statement is fraudulent. If you were conservative, we would not be having this discussion, but you blew your cover by declaring something about being lied to. How about not lying to yourself? Being a moron — at the very least, naive to a large degree — has consequences. You seem to suffer those poorly. Your preconceived notion about physicians is another dead giveaway — instead of making the typical liberal knee jerk comment, how about providing some foundation for your opinion. Since we know you can’t, and expect more inanity than brevity from the likes of you, it might be interesting to see you squirm your way through a discussion with doctors and lawyers about the trappings of this boondoggle. The only dumb one here is you. Either make a cogent effort to represent your position, or possess the personal integrity to admit you are a shill for some liberal cause and resent these highly skilled medical professionals taking your pet projects to task.

          • oconnellc

Jesus, you’re dumb. Do you stamp these little screeds out? Flinging the same spittle on your screen, over and over again, doesn’t make you come across as intelligent. When you use the same $2 words multiple times, it just makes you sound like you read them somewhere and weren’t sure what they meant, but they must be important.

These highly skilled medical processionals fall on the same normal distribution of intelligence that everyone else does. Half of them are below average. A significant number of them are crooks (yeah, the ones over billing medicare by close to $7B/year). You don’t have to be a shill to resent being taken advantage of. You, however, seem willing to bend over forwards for them. Congratulations. But in the meantime, I’ll point out two things for you… Every administration for 3 decades has been saying that they are going to find savings in medicaid/medicare by reducing payments to doctors/hospitals. Stop acting like that is something new. Second, doctors won’t stop taking medicare money. The reason they won’t is because they like money. They talk a good game, but they like money and the government has it. So when you are willing to show some real proof that doctors are abandoning medicare in droves, I’ll listen. In the meantime, stop acting so dumb.

Death panels. Nice. Another good one. See, I’m brain dead, so you’re just gonna tell me to off myself. That was funny. I’m going to use that, because it was so funny. But, I’ll give you credit. You’ll be the “death panel doctor joker guy”, all over the internet. They’ll make memes about you on reddit. You are not only a clever man, but very funny as well. It’s because you can take something so timely and newsworthy AND controversial, and make a clever joke about it. And, you called me brain dead. That was good, too.

Ex: poor single mothers in 1960’s were approximately 25% of births. Along came all the government benefits, subsidies, if you will. At present those births are 75% of births. How’s that working for us? Everything else should lean to fewer; i.e. education, Planned Parenthood, availability of effective, cheap birth control. Food stamps have increased – and so has obesity. Yes, didn’t anyone else watch Obama’s Summit meeting with Dems and Repubs talking about healthcare reform? Cspan. He belittled the Repubs with “we don’t want baby steps”, “we want a big total plan”. The majority voters WERE NEVER IN FAVOR OF TOTAL REFORM. It was presented to Congress, requesting a quick vote, few had read the 2700 pages; and many Dems lost their jobs in Congress in 2010 to Repubs; due to passage of the Law.

We have a great system, with a flaw here and there; but anyone who read any of the MAJOR PRINCIPLES, knew it was BAD. The Law is a MESS.

      • oconnellc

It is difficult to imagine anyone who took the Hippocratic vote actually refusing to treat someone based on their political views. Anyone looked into revoking his license?

        • Secede

It’s still a free country- to most of us.
          Not apparently, to you.

          • oconnellc

One, it’s illegal to intimidate anyone into voting a certain way. Refusing medical treatment for such certainly applies. In Illinois, that alone probably accounts for four different reasons to revoke a license. Lets see… Conviction of a felony (shouldn’t be too much trouble there). Insanity (seems pretty obvious, if you are going to commit a felony, you’d have to be insane to make so much publicity about it). It certainly seems unprofessional and unethical to refuse treatment for something like that, especially in a free country, right? Again, insanity.

How many reasons do you need? As a doctor, I would think you would want as few nutjobs out there making you look bad as possible.

Nobamacare is starting to hit rock bottom as many who once believed it was the best thing since the microscope. Too bad many of the union members in the med profession didn’t think hard enough that will have effects that will hurt them in the end. Obamacare is not just about bad medical practice- aka Socialized medicine.. What it really is about is control- Control of the People is what socialism is all about, which is designed to inevitably lead to communism- ie; totalitarian rule.

This is why Obama and his forced govt Obamacare is antithetical to all that America stands for- Freedom, Liberty, Democracy, and a Private Free Market Enterprise system as the core of our Republic system, society, and culture- not govt control and rule.

Exactly, people, who’ve studied, law abiding citizens; who’ve broken no laws – are simply ANOTHER individual or group; that Obama and his politicians will blame for their failures. At what point, does the common denominator become apparent to these voters and citizens; i.s. is is really everyone else’s fault that this particular political leader is such a failure. Get past his lies and propaganda – he needs to be IMPEACHED AND PPACA REPEALED, before it needlessly costs us so much more, without any real benefits.

  • AlaskaLaw

Just wait. The next thing they are going to do is to break into your (and my) medical records (ala Obama executive orders) and if you ever said to your doctor that you are feeling blue, or if you ever were prescribed a tranquilizer or an antidepressant, you will suddenly be a “dangerous psychotic person” and they will be calling for your guns. You just watch.

So much for patient/doctor confidentiality. What few doctors there will still be available will no longer be allowed to be medical advisors nor will you be able to trust them with your secrets so that you can be healed. They will become government stooges and informants even if you are a danger to no one. People will have to choose between being healed and losing their constitutional rights.

    How Government Solved

    the Health Care Crisis

    Medical Insurance that Worked —

    Until Government “Fixed” It

    by Roderick T. Long

Today, we are constantly being told, the United States faces a health care crisis. Medical costs are too high, and health insurance is out of reach of the poor. The cause of this crisis is never made very clear, but the cure is obvious to nearly everybody: government must step in to solve the problem.

Eighty years ago, Americans were also told that their nation was facing a health care crisis. Then, however, the complaint was that medical costs were too low, and that health insurance was too accessible. But in that era, too, government stepped forward to solve the problem. And boy, did it solve it!

In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, one of the primary sources of health care and health insurance for the working poor in Britain, Australia, and the United States was the fraternal society. Fraternal societies (called “friendly societies” in Britain and Australia) were voluntary mutual-aid associations. Their descendants survive among us today in the form of the Shriners, Elks, Masons, and similar organizations, but these no longer play the central role in American life they formerly did.

    • AnneCameo

I believe the Shriners hospitals still offer many great care at little cost.

  • http://www.FireKarlRove.com/ C. Edmund Wright

hidden underneath the media coverage is an exploding free market – with all kinds of creative ways to purchase/provide medical care. Only the foolish drone docs and patients will leave their fate in the hands of idiotic mindless ignorant bureaucrats, like the one the docs are fleeing at this meeting.

  • http://bit.ly/1p6qQml AGoyAndHisBlog

Government pushed the health care system into a state of dysfunction. Only way to fix that is to get government OUT of it. Completely. Forever.

Insurance is a tool for mitigating financial risk. Insurance is NOT health care.

Don’t worry- as soon as most doctors tell the government to get lost, by refusing to accept Medicaid/Medicare, the government will just make it a mandatory requirement to accept medicaid/medicare in order for us to renew our licenses. This is the same crap they pull in every country that went to socialized medicine.

    • AnneCameo

This will be especially pertinent with PPACA, as Medicare payments to hospitals were cut and penalties to hospitals who re-admit. The most important care, one receives; in the hospital, and even though Obama lied about it in the debates (if his mouth is moving, he’s lying) PPACA does cut Medicare payments by $700 billion.

I don’t honestly know of ANY truths, that have been told by Obama.

Overheard in the Doctor’s lounge one day-
” As soon as Obamacare is implemented, you will hear doctors say one of three things.
1- The older doctors will say ” Screw this- I’m retiring!”
2- The younger doctors will say ” Well- if I’m going to be a government employee, I’ll WORK like a government employee”
3- The rest of the doctors will say ” Well, the heck with this- I’m going back to my own country to practice medicine !”

No, you liberal racist punk. The Hispanic population is alive and well down here, poorly represented by Democrats but saved by the overwhelming strength of conservatives. Dr. Held noted those remaining for the dog and pony show were not American citizens and the host was a government appointed liberal idiot. Nothing to suggest superiority at all. A candid and remarkably accurate description, except to a moron.

          • $24698634

You seem so sure of what happened; were you there?  Did you and the good doctor check their passports to see if they were citizens?  Or are you just another bloviating right wing a##hole that likes to call others names?  No reply necessary or desired.

          • Adam Baumb

What a freaking idiot. Ever been to a professional convention or seminar? Ever heard of the credentialing process that every participant must complete? Ever heard of ID badges or name tags? Of course not…you are a feckless liberal (believes the pizza delivery guy should be able to sit down at a medical convention and participate in a meaningful way) that doesn’t get invited to professional seminars or serious discussions because 1) the Kardashians are not there, 2) Tina Fey is having to work truck stops to prop up her Pain routine, and 3) Keith Olbermann is forever unemployed. I know it’s difficult, but ask someone (that is not a liberal) what reading comprehension means. Dr. Held reported she knew the gullible saps that stayed for the entire charade — they were foreign doctors trying to determine if this fraud would be helpful in their practice. That’s why you liberals don’t come out in the light of the sun much — to make these absurd pronouncements in public gets you a bloody lip.

          • $24698634

Bloody lip?  Really?  Surely not from a coward like you.  Go back to the Stormfront website where you belong.

          • Adam Baumb

It would do my heart a world of good — it always does — to render liberals to the sobbing bags of goo they are. Coward? Not even close. I’ve taken US flags from those either attempting to burn or stomp on it — I was there in Washington, in 2007, to protect our monuments from the vandals and ransacking liberal mobs. I doubt a single one of your liberal lickspittles would characterize my actions as cowardly. In fact, they ran….like the punks they are. I make no bones about it — you can make your case, but when you cross the line, I will be one of those Americans that steps in with “requisite force” to end the problem. If it’s a fist in the mouth, so be it. If it’s a .45 at 25 yards, so be it. If it’s a 270 at 150 yards, so be it. If it’s a F-18 at 25,000 feet, so be it. Either present a cogent argument, facts in evidence, or keep your liberal pronouncements and fraud to your circle of pedophiles and dope addicts.

          • $24698634

Of course, the use of force is the only “cogent argument” you know how to make.  Fortunately, knuckle-draggers like you are on the road to extinction.  I wouldn’t waste time arguing with a cretin like you.  Go peddle your brand of crazy elsewhere.

          • Adam Baumb

Not hardly, simp. I am gracious and polite, abiding decency and honorable traditions. I am also one that you call when you need help — for just about anything. I despise liberals because they are frauds and liars, but too cowardly to admit it. When you present a case or enter a discussion, do so with facts and skill. To date, you’ve been a sycophantic turd in the punch bowl. Life isn’t fair and I promise to make it miserable for liberals. Had you the intellectual capacity for such things, you would be curious: why am I engaging these legitimate Americans in this manner? Why am I visiting a conservative website? No one wants to be a liberal — those that elect to be that way are petty racists that hide behind some fairy tale of social justice and equality, yet you liberals are the most poisonous, discriminatory, and pompous asses on the planet. I relish every opportunity to smack the flavor from your collective mouths because it makes all those you liberals oppress with your fallacious governance and solipsism very, very happy. Everyone loves seeing a liberal humiliated — that’s why we do it. And, that’s why liberals have to be so boorish (comedians, etc. are pure filth and scum at times) because otherwise, no one would pay attention to them. Liberalism is a mental disorder — you personify that disorder in ways I couldn’t have orchestrated in a week of trying.

This is funny. Either a false account(she’s not a Dr.) or she’s just one of you psycho right wing buts (followed the twitter account, it’s the latter). There’s nothing in Obamacare that will affect Opthamologists, no reason any government minion would be speaking to them, etc, Obamacare is not health reform, it’s health insurance reform… The only way it will affect Opthamologists is by providing them more patients who have insurance.

    • http://twitter.com/KahNayNay KahNayNay

Bitch, you have no idea what you are talking about. Obamacare affects health insurance thru Medicaid Expansion and by Medicare fees lowering to almost NOTHING. Doctors are no longer taking Medicaid, Medicare, or any Obama plan because the reimbursement rate to the doctor is 20% of what they charge for their services!!! Doctors are small businesses and you apparently have NO CLUE as to how a business is run. How would you like to do your job and have the government come in and tell you that they are only going to pay you 20 dollars for a service you offer for 100 dollars to EVERYONE…..yeah, I can see you working for less money because the government tells you it is either 20 bucks or nothing. Well nothing is being replaced with only patients willing to pay for extra service out of pocket to make up for the patients they no longer see because these same doctors do not accept medicare, medicaid, or Obama plans that are expansions of both.

  • http://twitter.com/KahNayNay KahNayNay

My doctor went concierge two years ago….I pay 1600 dollars out of pocket per year to continue seeing my doc…out of 2500 patients she used to have, she selected 500 to stay with her. I was one of the 500 who was willing to pay the out of pocket, BUT she is able to give me a fabulous two day physical every year and the concierge service is pretty amazing….I am part of a network and if I get sick while on vacay in another city, I can see any doctor in the network AND so can my family if they are not on the plan. She no longer takes Medicare, and no longer has patients without private health insurance….

  • Lorraine George

Well this could be a problem for Obamacare—we told them not to do this piece of garbage when half the country did not want it!

  • joe smutka

Obama’s exchanges may not lower costs. Face it – medicine was never meant to be operated as a “regulated business”. Obama wanted a single payer model not this hybrid model the medical industrial complex, (MIC) forced on him. The current business model is a national disgrace but it does a great job of funneling a huge share of our national wealth towards the enrichment of doctors, drug and insurance companies and hospitals. Operate medicine as a regulated business? Can’t be done. The demand curve is vertical, people are in no position to bargain for price as they’ll pay most anything to relieve their pain, or the chance to live another day. There is little to no price discovery even if they tried to shop around. Hospitals, insurance and drug companies exert excessive market power and political influence. Doctors, do not compete. Regulation works fairly well in the private utility business. But it works because state and federal regulators have access to the books of utilities and can set reliability criteria, reserves, and level of service constraints as well as profits.

OBAMACARE outsourcing. Enacted in July 2010, The U.S. healthcare reform (“ObamaCare” or the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act”) is intended to pressure large and small employers through force and taxation. The result will show companies deciding to send customer support, sales, lead generation and appointment setting jobs offshore or risk going out of business. U.S companies can take advantage of a dedicated bilingual employee who is 100% committed to their project. ESL nearshore employees in Costa Rica are just as or more effective than transitional in-house employees. In addition, giving the business the freedom to scale up their offshore staff without getting caught in the Obamacare challenge in 2014.
