Even if the fiscal cliff deal (aka crap sandwich) is enacted, your payroll taxes will increase. Aren’t you excited?

Something to keep in mind when the politicians blather on about “extending tax cuts to 98%” of Americans.

Working, contributing Americans get screwed at every turn. :(

What else is new Amber? The workers have to support the non-workers. I guess that’s what Obama means by “fair”. Unemployment extended for another year??? I am self employed. If my business goes down the drain, I can’t get one penny. .

Payroll taxes never should have been cut in the first place. That is money Social Security will never get back and will affect the amount of money people will receive when they are eligible. SS should be replaced or phased out but it makes no sense to damage an already damaged program without a suitable replacement plan.

The “good” news – SocSecurity never lost that money. The bad – because it came from general revenues (or, if you prefer, Treasury securities sold on the open market), it represents money borrowed twice – once from the public and once from the non-existent “Trust Funds”, complete with two sets of interest payments.
It would have been more honest to have the “Trust Funds” take the hit.

SSI was begun when the stock market plunged and the Great Depression started. It was designed to replace a part of what retirees and workers at that time lost in the market. It should’ve applied ONLY to that generation. Subsequent generations should never have had SSI.

Most of the agencies that FDR created to remedy the Depression were eliminated by him as well. I have no doubt had FDR lived for his fourth term he would have also shut down the SSA.

FDR stated that he wanted to create a program that was so vast, so expansive that it could never be dismantled. Trust me, history shows that he never would have dismantled SSA

Obama never intended to stave off that tax hike–this whole deal is a theater to help blame Republicans when it hits.

I’d love to know how the White House will spin this, but I’m betting that pigs will fly before anyone in the lapdog media will break their omerta and actually ask the damn question.

You voted for Obama, and now you see that nothing is “free” enjoy this is only the beginning. Good luck.

  • http://twitter.com/lazypadawan lazypadawan

Obama always wanted to increase taxes on everybody, even “The Middle Class”(TM). He just found a way to do it where he can blame the Republicans.

What else is new from the left?

Whatever percentage of Obozo voters actually earn a living by holding a job, I hope their first paycheck of 2013 is the equivalent of a hard slap across the face.

Apparently, the folks in D.C. really did listen to all the people who were complaining that too many folks were paying little or no taxes. Now, with the increase in the payroll tax, the non-contributing no-good-nick flipping burgers beneath the golden arches will be contributing 2% of his/her wages to the treasury in D.C. Jose Friedman/Milton Canseco should be happy – that’ll mean 2% less consumption by the burger flipper and everyone else gainfully employed.

What will you bet that this will be the #1 topic of conversation about the fiscal cliff among the “98%” when they receive their first 2013 pay check? Most of them (I should say most of the BHO voters) aren’t even aware of it even now.

The Messengers (MSM) have been very quiet about this, but the fit is about to hit the shan.

No one is talking about the fact that your employer matches those taxes. This is a job killer. He lowered it only to get elected. You think he cares LOL

  • Carol Beck

Now that your employer is matching the higher payroll tax, I think Obama got the 2% raise you wanted.
