Ban civilian assault rifles, ban high-capacity magazines, enforce stringent background checks on 100% of gun trades. Just common sense.

Their hope is to force mass shooters to reload more often:
Why does anyone need high capacity magazines? “If you need to reload — you lost.”

They point to Jared Loughner, the Tuscon, Ariz,. shooter who was tackled as he tried to reload his weapon.
@dragonman0325 if Jared Loughner didn't have to re-load, everyone would have been dead in AZ. Capacity certainly make a difference.

On the other hand, Newtown shooter Adam Lanza, Virginia Tech shooter Cho Seung-Hui, and Aurora, Colo., shooter James Holmes were all able to reload their weapons repeatedly in the middle of their shooting sprees.

It is not surprising, then that many tweeters think a ban on high-capacity magazines will accomplish little, if anything.

Guns are not the root problem. Or high capacity mags. I mean it takes three seconds to reload, you're not slowing much down.

Idea is to force more pauses to reload? Skeptical it would work. MT @gabrielmalor I don't get the proposals to ban high capacity magazines.

We’re skeptical, too.
