Tonight, President Barack Obama spoke at the memorial service for victims of the Newtown, Conn., massacre.

Although he didn’t say the word “gun control,” the implication was clear.

Some conservatives felt Obama’s injection of politics into the prayer service was inappropriate, but the Left couldn’t say enough about how awesome the speech was:

The MSM libs are like pigs at a trough. They can’t get enough of this guy. I wonder what Chris Matthews is feeling….never mind.

  • http://pinterest.com/j0s1395/ Josephine (D)

So basically, let’s spread gun control all over the country.

I’m sorry, doesn’t CT have some of the toughest gun laws in America?

    • DDay

As does MA, we had an office shooting after our strictest in the nation laws.

Let’s ban assault weapons say lib’s. Va Tech shooter used two pistols ZERO assault rifles. Killed 32 and wounded 17.

      • http://twitter.com/FreedomExaminer TheFreedomExaminer

Liberals and the whole democratic party is short sighted. The listen to Obama and obey.Do they really think that if guns were banned this guy would have stayed home playing the harp? The problem is not the gun, its the people. If we “need” to do something its got to do with people, because people have had guns since day one and this kind of thing was not happening. But, in that case the liberals would have to face uncomfortable things like God and love of country.

  • Christian Heiens

Guys, give credit where credit is due. It was a really good speech. He did his job tonight. I disagree with gun control and would oppose any effort to do something to limit the second amendment, but he gave a good speech.

    • Kimberly O’Neal

He did nothing more than use this tragedy to further his agenda on gun control. I watched the speech and he appeared a bit sad at first but then when he got to the part of “doing more” to prevent any more tragedies he could barely contain himself holding back the grins as if he was thinking I got ya’ll now. He used this for politics nothing more, and where was he when the others happened, he had no public speeches then nor for Benghazi of which may I remind you we are still awaiting answers. I’m sorry but I tried, and I just cannot and do not trust this administration nor anything that comes out of their mouths. I pray for all our leaders every day and will continue to do so, God is our only hope!

    • Christian Heiens

Obviously some people simply hate our President regardless of what he does if people are giving what I just said a thumbs down :/ I voted for Romney, I’m a libertarian-conservative, and I can’t find one legislative proposal or agenda from Obama that I support but he did what he had to do in that speech, console grieving families. The fact that Twitchy and others attack that is sad.

      • HARP2

Did he mention Brian Terry ? You know, the guy that was killed because Obama gave the drug cartels weapons.

        • Christian Heiens

What on Earth does that have to do with this shooting? Nothing! Give me a break you actually expect him to bring up something as politically charged as Fast and Furious during a Prayer Virgil remembering the death of 20 6 and 7 year old children? Come on…

          • HARP2

Damn commie hypocrites. They GAVE guns to the bad guys. Are you unable to get that through your thick skull ?

          • Christian Heiens

Excuse you? How can we accuse Liberals of being rude hypocrites when we as Conservatives act no better? Use some class and respect when having a conversation with someone you disagree with.

          • Christian Heiens

And to answer your rudely framed question, yes, I can “get that through my thick skull”. Let me repeat the question again since you failed to answer it and instead opted to take the Liberal route of dodging the question and attacking my character, what on Earth does Fast and Furious have to do with this shooting or the Prayer Virgil?

          • HARP2

So he can just bring up the incidents that are politically convenient for him and disregard those that aren`t. To this day he has never spoke about the government`s role in supplying guns to drug cartels.
You may want to put it on the back burner but there are many of us that see through the hypocrisy.

          • Christian Heiens

Do you expect ANY politician to act otherwise? Please. Obama’s a horrible President but don’t go around thinking the GOP is high and mighty either. Would YOU talk about things that aren’t politically convenient to you anywhere, much less in a ceremony honoring the dead children? Give me a break. You’re acting like such a hypocrite.

      • Miles Boone

I voted Obama. I agree with you and I would be equally pleased with a republican or any Other human being showing up to offer condolences and love to community or an individual grieving an unimaginable tragedyz

      • Jeff

Thank you I was losing faith with humanity until I read this comment.

    • Brent

What a refreshing post. I didn’t think there were any of you (rational, sane Republicans) left! And do you disagree with banning assault rifles? If so, why?

      • Christian Heiens

I’m scared that if we get rid of assault rifles by banning them, law abiding citizens won’t be as armed potentially as those who would still illegally have them. Remember, F&F gave these type of weapons to Mexican drug lords. A family living near the border could be a risk from weapons provided by the Feds and at the same time, because of Federal actions, they may not have similar weapons to protect themselves. Outright banning ANY type of gun doesn’t really solve many problems. Criminals don’t obey the law as it is, they can and will still find ways to arm themselves.

  • waltermitty2012

In a few months, maybe a little more, they’ll be disappointed when nothing happens.

  • kch50428

Obama: “First priority is our children”… then why is he saddling today’s children, and their great-grandchildren yet to be born with trillions in national debt?

    • Skigirl1689

Or by supporting abortion on demand, what about those children?

      • HARP2

Hey liberals…what about these children. Take a good look at what your policies have achieved.

        Don`t turn away……TAKE A GOOD LOOK….HYPOCRITES.

    • http://twitter.com/FreedomExaminer TheFreedomExaminer

Exactly. Obama has impressed the Kool Aid drinkers again.

  • Ricci Logan

everyone forgets the who point of the memorial and making a political speech wasnt it but then again what would you expect from someone who hates Christians

    • Jeff

Half of the speech was deeply religious what are you talking about he hates Christians?

  • http://twitter.com/WilloughbyAnnie Annie Willoughby

Liberal piles can’t see how abominable this jerk is. Even I had hopes the POS could resist pushing his agenda at this event. No such luck! You don’t get much lower than using a memorial service for dead children as a political platform.

    • digitalPimple

Sick right? I felt the same way. This is not a political forum and I’m not even sure the president showing up is the right thing to do. Seems creepy and wrong on some level.
An event where the federal Gov is called (Sandy) I can see it but this is not one of those situations. Leave these poor people alone.

    • http://twitter.com/FreedomExaminer TheFreedomExaminer

I was kind of depressed reading all the gullible replies until I read this one and two others. I think he is so obviously focused on politics.

  • George Washington Mclintock

“First priority is our children?” Well, maybe give their teachers some way to protect them from gunman. wonder if Luke Russert would want a gun if he was held up in NY? Wonder if Elizabeth Banks would like how helpless she felt if some creepy fan found her with out studio security? I mean, it is a shame that such fools have access to the protections we don’t.

  • Jack Deth

If Obama’s first priority is “children”, why does he so wholeheartedly back abortion?

And how many times have we heard countless variations of “For the children…” just before a useless piece of legislation that a six year old can sidestep?

  • stuckinIL4now

But … but … I thought the lecture he gave on civility at the Gabby Giffords campaign kickoff event in AZ in 2011 was the bestest speech ever. I’ll say it again–he just didn’t need to be there.

  • digitalPimple

So now criminals stopped existing in the world and the US suddenly? Barking up the wrong tree. What are these loons smoking? People have a right to a fire arm. That will not change. All these DUMB gun laws do NOTHING (proven fact). I grew up in cook county Chicago and you can not even drive a secured bolt action hunting rifle through county limits or you would be arrested. Even just passing through on an expressway.

Want to do something Obama? Secure and lock down the border and stop the illegal guns and drugs flowing into this county. Till then people have every right to defend themselves and their family.

Yes, you do need a semi-auto hand gun because the criminals carry worse. Morons.
Hopefully no one finds themselves in a situation to have to use it.

Must be nice to live in phantasy-land where all people are nice and crime just disappeared. Give me what you’re smoking.

  • Jim Denney

A liberal is a conservative who hasn’t been mugged yet, they’re just too deluded to understand it.

  • Joseph Phillips

Barry passes gas and The Left swoon like it’s an amazing perfume.

    • Jeff

You are comparing a fart with this moving speech about a national tragedy? Really?

      • LochGates44

No, he’s saying liberals have no credibility in judging a speech given by Obama.

      • Joseph Phillips

“Moving” speech? Irony. His politically-charged speech wasn’t moving to everyone. Since I can tell you’re a Lib, I’ll use little words so you can understand. No matter what Barry does the masses think it’s great. The media and pinheads and muslims swoon over this guy like girls awaiting the Beatles. Here’s what it looks like to normal people: http://youtu.be/Z_bUtkcgUII

        • Jeff

I like how you are implying that I’m an idiot, but I’m actually going to be a doctor in a year and am and pretty level headed. Thanks for using little words for my poor widdle brain. I think it’s pretty disrespectful to compare a vigil to a fart, but maybe I’m just being a libretard, or maybe I have a tiny sense of compassion and understanding.

        • Jeff

You can’t see past the words and realize that it was a very moving speech. A tiny part was about gun control and he never even said the word. He implied our country could do better as a whole and I completely agree. I am sorry you do not, you seem pretty satisfied with your smug self. And also, kinda nuts you assume I’m an idiot because i’m a liberal when I’m going to be a doctor next year and consider myself a pretty level headed person.

          • Joseph Phillips

Well, “doctor,” how do you see pass the words in a speech? Guess they haven’t taught that class yet.

I cannot wait for this election to be over…wait, what? You don’t say.

  • http://twitter.com/EFPanknin Eric Panknin

He probably didn’t even write the damn thing! It seems he can only talk and not set policy. He still is going on vacation despite all that is taking place, I don’t see anything from leftists about that. All he can do is read off a teleprompter, he has no clue about anything else. I would hate to imagine if he were president on 9/11.

    • Brent

Yeah Bush did a fantastic job. I recall his swift action as he read to children (sarcasm if you aren’t bright enough to detect it).

      • http://twitter.com/EFPanknin Eric Panknin

Dumb ass, Your wonderful president bubba had plenty of opportunities to kill bin laden and never did so. We still have yet to hear where choomie was and what he did when 9/11/12 happened. Word is he couldn’t be found.

    • http://twitter.com/thetugboatphil TugboatPhil

He was President on 9/11/12 and watched his Ambassador be slaughtered by savages on a live video feed. He also denied rescue forces to be sent to help the others and then went to bed after the carnage was complete.

If Obama was really concerned about ACTUAL assault rifles, he’d stop allowing them to be given to Mexican drug gangs to use for murdering our own Border Patrol Agents and Mexican citizens.

  • TocksNedlog

Spike Lee is elated that these kids gave their lives in order to make Obama look ‘presidential’.

  • Steve_J

Lee thinks that was one of the greatest Presidential speeches in history. He doesn’t have very high standards.

  • Streetiebird

It was a good speech. Maybe now we can discuss these tragedies openly and work towards finding and preventing the causes.

    • TexSizzle

The causes are “gun-free zones” where the perps know there won’t be anyone to defend themselves with equal or greater firepower, people hopped up on mind-altering drugs, and the leftist concept that nothing a crook does is his/her fault.

      • Streetiebird

mmmkay, so how many gun carriers have stopped a shooting before it happened?

        • TexSizzle

There is no way of knowing. The reason these things happen in “gun-free” zones is that the perps figure they will be the only ones not to obey the law there. They don’t shoot where they might be out-gunned, so using liberal logic, every time they don’t shoot, gun carriers have stopped a shooting. In real terms, sometimes all a carrier has to do to prevent a shooting is show he/she is armed too, and the liberal with the gun backs down.

          • Streetiebird

“And the liberal with the gun backs down” very classy of you to say this, implying that all shooters are liberals, it shows real compassion and caring.

Using your logic, inner cities should be almost gun-violence free since there are so many people packing heat, right? If only we allowed students to carry weapons they would never use them at schools right?

          • TexSizzle

It *is* the liberals who have such a low regard for life that they make abortion a sacrament of their religion of government. The difference is that the inner cities are full of young skulls full of mush who have never learned the sanctity of life because of what they’ve been exposed to.
When I was in high school, there were always pickup trucks in the school parking lot with rifles or shotguns in the gun racks, and no one ever used any of them at school.

Don’t you ever work? You seem to spend an inordinately large amount of time on Twitchy trying to stir things up.

          • Streetiebird

Wow, you have a scary outlook and a clear disdain for your fellow Americans if you think abortion is some sort of “sacrament”. I could say that it is Conservatives who have such a low regard for life since you push hard for the death penalty and start wars based on lies, but that would be a disgusting thing to say.

It sounds like you think that if only we taught Christianity in inner-city schools and started forcing teenagers to have babies at 16 that suddenly kids would stop shooting each other? It seems far fetched to me, but you’re entitled to your opinion.

  • Streetiebird

It was a good speech. Maybe now we can discuss these tragedies openly and work towards finding and preventing the causes.
