As Twitchy reported, the Left really, really liked President Obama’s speech at the vigil for the Newtown, Conn,. shooting victims.

Obama did not use the word “gun” but most observers agree he implied that he will be pushing for new gun control legislation.

Dana Loesch felt that Obama’s thinly-veiled call for gun control legislation amounted to politicization of the prayer service — a vigil that she felt should have been apolitical:

Reasonable people can disagree about whether Obama politicized the event (and if so whether doing so was in poor taste), but the response to Loesch has been anything but reasonable. Just look:

One tweeter even appeared to feel that Loesch is somehow responsible for the Newton, Conn., massacre:

What ever happened to the “new era of civility“?

This is the “new era of civility”, at least while Obama’s in command.

    • rightofcntr

You are so right about O’s command. All this hatred being spewed about over the Twittisphere and elsewhere is exactly by design. Keeping us divided and building all this discontent is playing right into Os plan to divide this nation while the left dismantles. It saddens me.

Why do you lie everytime you post something. No one thinks that any childern need to die. But you along with the other liberals think that banning guns would have stopped this from happening. It wouldn’t have stopped anything. Criminals and crazies don’t obey laws or have you stuck your head up your ass to long to realize that.

Shouldn’t you tell Sarah Palin to pay the rent for living inside your head????????

Why not just hide your hate for anyone who does not agree with your point of view the election is over!

          • http://www.facebook.com/larry.waddell.98 Larry Waddell

The election is indeed over, and it is odd that you who have used many angry and divisive words while posting here. You seem to think that because the Obamacrats are in charge now, no one is allowed to have an opinion that is different from yours. So you come here to pick a fight, to ridicule and spew your venom apparently in an effort to silence the opposition. If you don’t like our opinions and our view of the world then it may be better for your mental health if you stay over at the Daily Kos.

  • http://www.awinninghabit.com lissa

Twitter has killed civil discourse. I blogged about that this weekend because I was attacked time and time again (and mass unfollowed) by those who do not agree with my opinion on gun control being useless. Twitter has a chatroom mentality now, and is as insidious as some of the highschool cliques we all used to experience.

true – who needs followers like that? I follow those I agree with – and some that I don’t because the 1st amendment is still alive and well. How can one present a rational argument if they have no clue of what the argument is about?

  • Ricci Logan

the civility of the left is amazing isnt it

    • JustLikeAnimals

Liberals are some of the most loathsome, hate-filled, intolerant, angry people you will ever meet. It’s quite ironic how they’ve come full circle in 50 years from a party that fought fervently for the preservation of individual rights to the party that obscenely dons their brown shirts and goosesteps their way to obliterating every right they disagree with. I suspect the irony is lost on them, given the obvious loss of intellect on the left. But I do find it amusing.

      • fmahoney

Your extreme position and talk of real American fall in line with Nazi germany so don’t try to switch the script.

Maybe this sounds similar to the methods used after 9/11 lie about wmd

“Why of course the people don’t want war. Why should some poor slob on
a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of
it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally the common people
don’t want war neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in
Germany. That is understood. But, after all, it is the leaders of the
country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to
drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist
dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no
voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders.
That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked,
and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the
country to danger. It works the same in any country.”

        • http://www.facebook.com/larry.waddell.98 Larry Waddell

Again, you have a misunderstanding of Fascism, let me help you understand how it works. After you read this bit of information ask yourself if any of the explanations of Fascism fit the Obama agenda.
As an economic system, fascism is socialism with a capitalist veneer. The word derives from fasces, the Roman symbol of collectivism and power: a tied bundle of rods with a protruding ax. In its day (the 1920s and 1930s), fascism was seen as the happy medium between boom-and-bust-prone liberal capitalism, with its alleged class conflict, wasteful competition, and profit-oriented egoism, and revolutionary Marxism, with its violent and socially divisive persecution of the bourgeoisie. Fascism substituted the particularity of nationalism and racialism—“blood and soil”—for the internationalism of both classical liberalism and Marxism. Where socialism sought totalitarian control of a society’s economic processes through direct state operation of the means of production, fascism sought that control indirectly, through domination of nominally private owners. Where socialism nationalized property explicitly, fascism did so implicitly, by requiring owners to use their property in the “national interest”—that is, as the autocratic authority conceived it. (Nevertheless, a few industries were operated by the state.) Where socialism abolished all market relations outright, fascism left the appearance of market relations while planning all economic activities. Where socialism abolished money and prices, fascism controlled the monetary system and set all prices and wages politically. In doing all this, fascism denatured the marketplace. Entrepreneurship was abolished. State ministries, rather than consumers, determined what was produced and under what conditions.

It is so pleasing to hear that the comments from the Oh so tolerant, inclusive and diverse left reaffirm their hatred for all that disagree with them. Imagine if Dana would have said something untrue?

    • Red Blues

Don’t have to imagine… the radicals will edit a quote out of context and repeat the lie often enough to make the gullible believe it as truth or some semblance of the truth.

For example, I could ‘use’ your very words here; “It is so pleasing to hear that the comments from the … diverse left reaffirm …all that disagree with them.”

That easy and yet, if I repeated this “quote” from you on every blog and news outlet on the web, many would think that you are not who you are…

What argument could be offered in your own defense? You *did* write the words I quoted above, right? That’s the nature of the radicals misguided mindset because the end (political power) justifies the means (slander, half-truths and out and out fabrication of facts).

Glad I didn’t watch his speech. The coverage is nonstop. Let the families grieve in peace, then let’s address our awful mental healthcare.

    • Armando

Mental Illness exists all over the world, but we don’t have as many victims:

“A madman attacked more than 20 children at an elementary school in China. As of this writing, there are no reported fatalities.
A few hours later, a madman attacked an elementary school in Connecticut. As of this writing, 20 of those kids are dead.”

      http://www.slate.com/articles/news_and_politics/human_nature/2012/12/connecticut_school_shooting_semi_automatic_weapons_and_other_high_speed.html

      • Red Blues

No, we have had more… in fact many more than 20… 38 elementary school children, two teachers, four other adults killed and at least 58 people who were injured in a school bombing. I attended high school in Lake County IL back in the early 70’s and we had several bomb scares each year. The schools were well aware of what happened in Bath Township MI in 1927.

        http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=103186662

Before some twerp with an agenda says it, I know ” old news” but the killings will *not* stop just because guns are not available.

Those who ignore the past are doomed to repeat the failures of the past. Get rid of guns, put armed guards and explosive ordinance detectors in all schools and public buildings and make the country more of a police state than already exists and we will still have these acts of evil.

Honestly, do you even realize how much Obama has effed up and how many more conflicts he has put our troops into since he entered office? You don’t question that, do you? Do you even take the time to learn about our soldiers being in Libya, Yemen, Uganda, Turkey and other countries under his administration.

How about the fact that the Nobel Peace Prize Committee asked him to give back his Nobel Peace Prize? Are you going to call them racists too because they criticize your Dear Leader?

To end, I have no problem with black presidents. My problem is with you empty-headed, whitebread leftists that hardly ever self-educate, never leave your choice political echo chamber, and never realize it is your party that originated from the racists. Trying to push the racist label on those who are or lean Republican doesn’t work. Yours, the DemoKKKratic party, is and has always been the historic party of hate. I love looking back at Karl Rove mental breakdown on election night. Thought they would steal another and place that lying tax cheat in office. Noecon puppet. The sad reality is anyone with sense would look at Romney’s record and know that he would have shifted to the left in a New York Minute!!!

The man invented Obama Care the right never liked him and he honestly never liked them. He just had the money and was not Barack Obama

      • fmahoney

Sorry buddy to inform you but he won the elections after your koch brothers spent 1,000,000,000. Start to wonder what good is money if you can’t buy an election. What do you expect, we are planning for 1214. The most advanced societies plan for the future 5 years 10 years 50 years 100 years 1,000 years. You Attention deficit disorder folks know nothing about that. Prepare, prepare prepare prepare prepare. A winning combination, tell Karl Rove to try it next time instead of lying to you republican about being ahead in polls. Karl Rove knew you guys were loosing and loosing big!!! However, he kept collecting your money, had pollsters fake numbers. You guys knew nobody liked Romney, not even his own party

we have a saying in my neck of the woods. “You find a jackass and ride it!”

Have you seen that Barack Hussein Obama’s beautiful well educated wife and those two beautiful girls?????

        • JustLikeAnimals

Seen them? That’s all you got? Blah.

I actually met Barack and Michelle Obama at the White House in April, 2009 when I was an awardee in a recognition ceremony in the Rose Garden. I was at the Vice-President’s mansion for a private reception the afternoon before.

          So fuck you.

          • fmahoney

Hey buddy nobody is stupid, so you met him what does that mean. You have the right to insult him. As far as your last remark if your gay you can now go back to dc and marry the man you love.

Why do facts bother you guys sooo much

Sorry was going to reply but they deleted your post

County with the greatest welfare recipients is ??? Texas the state that’s talking crap about seceding

Talking bad about the 47% that became the 51% in the election will get you no place my friend. The latin community is reading this stuff ya know.

Who is trying to fool who? Who gets more welfare and depends on government more then American Corporations??? How much Welfare money did the banks get??? Bank of America did not even need the money but took it anyway, greed. Yea Exxon needs a tax break.

Your willing to spend more then 60,000. on federal prison but not on educator or doctors fresh out of medical schools

With regards to taxes he is simple saying let’s not use the Bush formula, it simple did not work. How about we use a formula that worked and gave us a surplus. I think that was the clinton plan

What about the two wars that we are still paying for? One was the big lie about wmd. Who bailed out the auto industry? Let them fail right to prove what?

What about the deregulation of wall street. what did that get us??? Greed and more greed. Who ended up paying for that greed??? Tax payers.

You are funny as hell but try that stupid argument with someone who lives on the moon.

Get your facts right my friend

    • Texas17x

So then you are pro-life? That is wonderful, I am glad to know that you support the unborn as well as the born. That your desire is for the well being of all children, whether in the womb or not. I sure you don’t agree with Obama’s support of infanticide for babies of failed abortions either. I am sure that as you pray daily that you remember the lives of the 50,000,000 aborted babies since Roe v Wade. Or maybe you are just using Jesus name in a cynical fashion. I hope not the latter.

      • peoplectr

Could be because maybe they didnt have guns back then?????Duh

So you are a committed follower of Jesus, that is wonderful I see you use the same rhetoric as Jesus too, can’t seem to find the words “hard on” in any of Jesus’ words, (their the ones in red) but I did find Jesus instructing his disciples to purchase a sword:

Luk 22:36Then He said to them, “But now, he who has a money bag, let him take [it], and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one.

So, what good HAS he done?… taking credit for seal team 6 for killing Bin Laden? Arming Mexican Drug lords? Allowing the U.S Ambassador and members of his staff to be murdered in Libya? being complicit in the Muslim brotherhood’s takeover of Egypt? The U.S’s credit rating downgraded twice in a year? 7-8 trillion ( so far) in new debt?…really? Excuse us, if we don’t fawn over a guy that continually bold face lies to us, cries a few tears over 26 murdered school children to promote his agenda, yet has no problem endorsing the slaughter of thousands of children through abortion on demand in the name of ” choice”!

        • fmahoney

Take credit??? He is commander and chief of our military. He had the balls to kill the mastermind behind 9/11 not roll into Iraq waste thousands of good men and women on a lie about Weapons of Mast Destruction

This did happen on his watch and he said he was responsible for that. Let’s see if the republicans will take responsibility for denying the security funding for the location.

As far as being complicit, when America rolled into a sovereign country with a lie about WMD who was being complicit??? How about the stupid lie Mr Rice told about poisoning their neighbors. What a croc of bull. We allowed and gave them the poison to kill Iran our enemy in that 100 year war with Iraq. You know my enemy’s enemy is my friend!

Yea why did our credit rating get down graded??? We had two wars to pay(Remember them?) for in the middle of a recession. In addition, a congress that said with their own mouths “We will do nothing but concentrate on getting Obama out of office” In other words the hell with the country!

Never in history did congress ever have a problem giving permission to raise the debt ceiling, all of a sudden in a rescission it’s a problem.

You don’t give a damn about those children and you don’t give a damn about aborted children. Why are you not screaming and writing about the perverts who have been molesting the Boy scouts for years???

Why are you not screaming about all the children that were molested by the catholic church???

Why are you not screaming about the children in poor areas that are killed daily???

Why are you not screaming about the veterans that come home busted up because Bush Lied and thousands died???

You sick people will force a woman to have a child from a rapist possible infected with Sexually transmitted disease or Aids. In addition, allow the rapist visitation!!!

Forster homes are filled with kids that nobody wants or cares about. When you republicans start being concerned with children from conception until 18 years of age I will listen to your argument until then, shut up!

Their is a special place in hell for you.

Jesus had the right idea. He whipped the money changers.

      • http://www.facebook.com/larry.waddell.98 Larry Waddell

Actually the Bible does not say that Jesus whipped anyone. He did fashion of whip of cords but most likely to drive the animals from the Gentile Court of Prayer where the money changers had set up camp, excluding the God fearing gentiles from having access to the place dedicated for them to come and pray. Jesus did over turn their tables but nowhere does the Bible say Jesus struck anyone. To try to claim he used violence against the money changers is an argument from silence and anyone who uses an argument from silence has an agenda.

          • NRPax

The shooter in CT didn’t have 30 round magazines and yet he still managed to commit a crime.

          • lainer51

as did OJ and Ted Bundy, both without guns.

          • NachoCheese (D)

High caliber? What are you smoking? He had 2 handguns (9 & 10 mms) and a Bushmaster .223 caliber rifle. Sorry to burst your ignorant bubble, but a .22 is anything but “high caliber”.

            “30-roung magazine rifles”

This statement makes no sense. Are you addressing the magazine capacity or the type of rifle? I have a bolt action rifle that can accept 30 round magazines as well as an AR-15 which can also accept 30 round magazines. As to magazine capacity, if you *attempt* to ban them (never mind the millions of them already in circulation) all you would have is shooters packing more lower capacity magazines, which coincidentally, have a lower propensity for jamming.

Another brilliant idea from the NRA. The solution is to arm our kindergartens, our shopping malls and our movie theaters. Over 300 million guns is not enough, we need more guns. Certainly that will stop the violence, even though it has not up to this point and there is no evidence that it will. Who cares, intelligent regulation is evil, just sell more guns. That will fix everything.

I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the cities with the strictest gun control laws ( Chicago, Washington D.C ,New york city ) have the most accounts of violent GUN CRIME in the Country, while the cities that encourage it’s law biding citizens in responsible Gun ownership, the fewest. an armed citizen makes a less appealing target than an unarmed one!

Actually, a better idea would be to allow responsible adults to choose to carry concealed if that is their choice. Don’t need to pay them more.

Sooner or later it will dawn on almost everyone, including low-information voters, that ‘gun-free zone’ means ‘target-rich environment’ to psychopaths – in fact, I believe the Batman shooter intentionally selected a theater further from his house because of its ‘no guns’ policy so that he would not have to worry about someone shooting back.

Lastly, please note that it took first responders 20 minutes to get to the Sandy Hook school – the safety of you and your family is your responsibility, not the government’s.

it’s kind of a pointless argument to make with lefties. So if they achieve taking my guns and your guns, then who is the only one that is left with guns. Granted the mother was irresponsible for allowing her mentally ill son have access to weapons, that was on her not me. As far as the system, it worked. The guy tried to buy a gun a couple of days before he went completely nuts and he was turned down

          • NRPax

I notice that the story of how he tried and failed to buy weapons doesn’t make the news.

          • lespearsen

Typical stupid responses here. Yes he could not buy guns fast enough so he stole his mothers. I am sure all three weapons were properly and safely stored. The kid probably broke into the gun safe, or more probably just looked in her closet. Keep your damn guns, but regidter them, report stolen guns, record private sales. But if your gun is mis-used be ready to accept the consequences that come with responsibility. Not like the two cowards in Florida who shot innocent people and claimed self defense.
What we never hear from the gun polishers is any solutions other than arming everyone in this country. Are any of you even trying to find solutions or just hiding behind the NRA?

          • NRPax

Exactly what solution would you like to see implemented that hasn’t been tried already? Short of total confiscation, what approach would you implement that hasn’t already been done, won’t violate the rights of citizens in this country, won’t create a new government agency and won’t add expense to gun owners?

          • Bizness22

Total confiscation could never work anyway…there are way too many places for people to hide guns.

          • NRPax

We can’t deport 12 million illegal aliens in this country but they somehow think we can get rid of over 10 times that number of guns.

          • Jerry Camp

It’s not about arming everyone. It’s about keeping people like you from taking away my right to arm myself. In states that allow CCW, crime rates drop faster cause the bad guys don’t know who MIGHT be armed. Criminals are, in general, about opportunity. You never hear about a guy walking into a police station or gun range to open fire, do you?
How often do these shootings take place in locations where guns are not allowed?
The FBI states that privately-owned guns deter 2.1 million crimes per year. Guns are used in 440,000 crimes per year. The math seems to favor guns 5-1.

          • $24698634

Actually, it did make the news. And it made me ask this question; when this guy was unwilling to abide the waiting period, didn’t that raise a red flag with the seller? I mean, who needs a gun right now! Seems that gun sellers could play a role in identifying some of these people before the fact. What if the seller called authorities and reported someone trying to by a firearm, but was unwilling to wait? Not saying it’s a solution, but something to look at.

          • NRPax

I see your point, but what good would it have done? The dealer could report his suspicions but what if he didn’t have a name or address to give the cops? And even if he had that, there was no crime committed so you can’t simply send the cops to detain him for anything.

          • $24698634

If the gun-buying system had a law enforcement notification aspect to it.  For example; if the first thing you have to do to buy a firearm is produce comprehensive ID, there’s a trail to follow.  Just like an APB.  Cops don’t have to detain him, just question him.  Maybe that contact with the law would deter him.  We have to try some new things.

          • NRPax

OK: Update. I have not seen any confirmation that he tried to buy guns at a sporting goods store just speculation. But I’ll answer your statement based on my own experience: To buy a weapon, I had to show my ID and fill out the appropriate paperwork (Not unlike CT’s rules). Once that was filled out, the background check was run.

I don’t think the rules should be changed that the instant you want to buy a weapon, you should show an ID and have it run. I don’t think we need to try new things; I think we need to enforce the rules we already have.

But the point is, once you provide ID in the attempt to purchase, then change your mind because you can’t wait, it’s a red flag.  At least to me it is.

          • Teresa Davis McCormick

it is law that he should have been reported to the F.B.I. Gun shops are supposed to report visibly unstable people that are trying to buy guns. My point is the law is there already, more laws won’t help.

          • Teresa Davis McCormick

          • http://twitter.com/MoueLaMoue Moue La Moue (D)

I wish I could remember the link for it, but I’ve totally spaced it at the moment. Persons with mental disabilities, or mental illness which would make them a possible threat to others shouldn’t be able to get a weapon. My husband said it asks you right on the form you fill out when you are purchasing a gun if you’ve a history of mental illness, disease or defect. The F.B.I. is supposed to send up a warning, but the agencies that could tell the F.B.I. about those who do suffer aren’t getting that information. It seems to me that there are holes in our own system.

There are laws out there already in place. Total confiscation won’t help.

When has anyone ever heard of a Law-Abiding Criminal either? Getting away from the whole mental disease/defect/illness — Criminals will always find a way to get a weapon.

          • $24698634

Agree, confiscation won’t help.  Not advocating that.  But asking someone to put a check mark on a form stating they have a history of mental illness seem ludicrous.  Who would do that?  We have to be smarter about this and we’re not.  There are vast sums of money being spent to prevent any rational action on this problem if it involves addressing guns as a part of the conversation.

          • http://twitter.com/MoueLaMoue Moue La Moue (D)

Asking someone to put a check mark for a mental illness is like asking them to put a check mark for felony conviction, i.e. redundant on a level of stupidity that well, there are no words. Especially when those individuals who have been deemed to be a danger to others because of medications, or lack there of. I get that. I completely, and utterly agree. Prison systems send info to the F.B.I. to insure that Felons shouldn’t be able to pass the background check. But anyone who has been in a mental health hospital? Shouldn’t they (the Institution/Hospital) be charged with sending something to the F.B.I. so that those who are trying to get a gun legally, and shouldn’t have one because they are considered dangerous to others, can’t. It seems like a ridiculously simple answer (and no, I’m not talking about the actual logistics of it.).

And the seller should have been alerted if the person in question is adamant about having a gun. Right. This. Second. Any sort of action like that should send up a red flag.

The only discussion thus far that’s being bandied about is the ‘ban’ of this weapon or ‘ban’ of that weapon. Anything can be a ‘weapon’. My marble rolling pin that I use to flatten pie dough could be a ‘weapon’. Are we now going to make it illegal to purchase baking utensils? There are some really medieval looking implements out there.

Since we have the 2nd Amendment, you can’t talk about banning ‘guns’ or ‘weapons’ and then say, only the military can have this, or only the secret service can have that. It then becomes the Government removing arms from the citizenry, which is a violation of the 2nd Amendment.

I am not saying the answer is easy, but there are so many out there going to one extreme or another. All or Nothing. It makes me sick, and a little heartbroken for our Country.

          • http://twitter.com/MoueLaMoue Moue La Moue (D)

I know, the whole ‘check this box’ thing is somewhat redundant. I completely agree. Like many here, the focus should be on those who need mental health help and don’t get it. Putting them back on the streets isn’t the answer, and you can’t force them into an institution unless they commit a heinous act. It’s a No-Win situation in a situation where so many advocate All or Nothing.

Yes, lets have a very polite conversation about gun owners doing nothing about the violence. Let’s make ‘lefties’ attitudes the point, not 27 senseless murders. Maybe people will forget the 20 6 year olds before we do anything to make other children safer. Yes lets blame the lefties for being impolite. That will solve the problem.

      • NRPax

Let’s just ignore the fact that gun owners have compromised and given up a lot of rights and the ability to purchase weapons in the name of “feeling safe” only to have the same anti-gun types come back and demand more “compromise.”

      • 1SkepticalChick

Gun owners do plenty about the violence. We have guns to protect ourselves and those around us. Nothing has come out yet about the mother and her guns. Law Enforcement has barely begun it’s investigation and have barely even talked to her family yet. So the accusations of irresponsiblity are premature. In any case, this young man was intelligent enough to figure out how to get to the guns, even if they were in a gun safe. He was a very ill young man, we need to stop the rumor mongering and allow the facts time to come out. The victims are not even in the ground yet, EVERYONE needs to show some respect. Including the media, and the President. And this is being politicized on both sides. And stop blaming evthing gun owners do on the NRA, not every gun owners belongs. In fact, I seriously doubt that the users of guns to commit violence are NRA members. And lefties are absolutely impolite. #blindattackdog

Let’s have a chat about how the gun control laws already on the book would have stopped this. The problem is not the laws, the problem is the enforcement of said laws. We get frustrated because we’ve done our homework and know that the left tends to get up and yell gun control every time a tragedy happens. Then people who are misinformed parrot what they say and the next thing you know, there is another law on the books that no one is enforcing. So responsible gun owners get one more crack in their rights and criminals keep doing what they do: ignore gun control laws.

You wanna bet? First, it was “assault weapons”, next come the high capacity clips, then it will be handguns. Eventually, the president will decide that there is no need to hunt deer anymore, because folks in the city don’t, (Agenda 21?) and rifles/shotguns will be gone. Somewhere in there, the left will also ban ammunition. It won’t all come at once, but it will come…if we don’t stop it here and now.

Does anyone else see the irony of telling someone on twitter to shut up. Like they are in your house talking direct to you. If someone tweets and no one re-tweets or attacks did they really tweet in the first place.

Criminals don’t follow laws. When will The Left remove their heads from their asses and realize this? You don’t need a gun to kill people, but by their logic we should ban cars, airplanes, knives, fertilizer, and on and on and on.

    • David Atherton

“Criminals don’t follow laws” You just summed up my argument against gun control in 4 simple, common words. Too bad the left can’t comprehend it. They are incapable of logical thought. You can write all the laws you want, it won’t stop crime.

      • Joseph Phillips

Exactly, sir. I don’t understand why Liberals don’t get this. They’re so enamored by Europe, but most have never been there. They simply do not understand how great it is to think for yourself, to take care of yourself, and the concept that the government which governs less governs best (apologies to Jefferson…). Sad, really.

    • Texas17x

By your logic ……in america we’re defenseless against killers

If the left is so concerned with the senseless killing of 4,5, 6 yr olds, where is their outrage over the senseless killings of the unborn that never had a chance to sit in a classroom?…i say ban all medical devices that suck the brains out of unborn babies..i think that total is around 3000 PER DAY!

I agree. We are a culture, after all, that places greater emphasis on “saving the planet” then it does on the unborn. I am sorry, but I had to stop reading the other side’s tweets after the second usage of the “c” word. How educated, and tolerant, and open-minded, and forward-thinking these people are. Me and my children pray for everyone at bedtime, and yes, I will even fit all these people in as well because they need prayer the most. Liberalism is its own religion with its own agenda; they will try their hardest to rid the world of those who oppose their beliefs, but at the end of the day, the Lord above always prevails and with Him, his people. I think we all are mourning for those victims, so what good does it do us if we degrade ourselves to the point where we turn against one another, and spout such hate? Really, I think THAT is the root cause of our nation’s problems; these people need to point the finger at themselves instead of at people who believe in the 2nd Amendment. Hate breeds hate; if you want to hurt or kill people, and your mind is hellbent on that, YOU WILL FIND A WAY TO FOLLOW THROUGH regardless of the weapon you use to do it. Keep fighting the good fight Dana, and I appreciate the fact that you choose to use your words thoughtfully as opposed to the “tolerant” Left, who prove through their word usage that they are no more deeper than the puddle of water I just cleaned off my kitchen floor this very evening.

You think swearing at people is civilized? All Dana said was that Obama was politicizing the memorial service (which he was, by the way), and his ilk tore her to pieces – for her opinion. You keep driving the point home: You and your Marxist friends believe that the 1st Amendment doesn’t apply to any opposing viewpoints.

This tragic murder was done by a disturbed individual with known bi-polar issues and a loner as well. The question is, why are the schools in this country not fully protected with security, metal detectors, etc? Why can the white house spend $250,000 on decorating for Christmas but not protect innocent children in schools?

We hade laws that banned assault weapons but government let this expire. Why? Why is there no psychological check done when a person buys these weapons? How did this 20 year old get these weapons owned and registered by the parents? Should the parents not be held responsible?

Too many questions yet you won’t get answers, only a speech from someone that is protected 24/7 and never has to worry about his children going to school getting hurt. Sorry, but his speech was politicized as he is in favor of UN Weapons ban. This is government control only so that everyone is dictated too.

My heart does go out to all of the innocent ones who passed and hope that more parents take a more responsible approach to gun safety and lock them away so that their siblings cannot touch these items and hurt others. Hopefully these same parents can take a more responsible approach to getting to know their children and get them medical help when needed.

Maybe this country should allow GOD back in our schools and stop worrying about hurting everyone’s feelings. We don’t have to specify which God, Just God!!!

The military have fully automatic weapons, you hold down the trigger and it fires until it runs out of ammunition. These types of weapons are not available to the general public. You and I can purchase semi-automatic weapons. With a semi-automatic you must pull the trigger for each time you want to fire. The killer of these children did not use a rifle of any kind, he used hand guns. They found a semi-automatic rifle in the trunk of his car, but is was not used. So don’t listen to the media: they are attempting to shape the narrative by disseminating false information.

    A little perspective…

    A LITTLE GUN HISTORY
In 1929, the Soviet Union established gun control. >From 1929 to 1953, about 20 million dissidents, unable to defend themselves, were round
    ed up and exterminated
In 1911, Turkey established gun control. From 1915 to 1917, 1.5 million Armenians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Germany established gun control in 1938 and from 1939 to 1945, a total of 13 million Jews and others who were unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated.
China established gun control in 1935. From 1948 to 1952, 20 million political dissidents, unable to defend themselves were rounded up and exterminated
Guatemala established gun control in 1964. From 1964 to 1981, 100,000 Mayan Indians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Uganda established gun control in 1970. From 1971 to 1979, 300,000 Christians, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Cambodia established gun control in 1956. From 1975 to 1977, one million educated people, unable to defend themselves, were rounded up and exterminated.
Defenseless people rounded up and exterminated in the 20th Century because of gun control: 56 million.
You won’t see this data on the US evening news, or hear politicians disseminating this information.
Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property and, yes, gun-control laws adversely affect only the law-abiding citizens.
Take note my fellow Americans, before it’s too late!
The next time someone talks in favor of gun control, please remind them of this history lesson.
With guns, we are ‘citizens’. Without them, we are ‘subjects’.
During WWII the Japanese decided not to invade America because they knew most Americans were ARMED!
If you value your freedom, please spread this antigun-control message to all of your friends.
SWITZERLAND ISSUES EVERY HOUSEHOLD A GUN!
SWITZERLAND’S GOVERNMENT TRAINS EVERY ADULT THEY ISSUE A RIFLE.
SWITZERLAND HAS THE LOWEST GUN RELATED CRIME RATE OF ANY CIVILIZED COUNTRY IN THE WORLD!!!
    IT’S A NO BRAINER!
DON’T LET OUR GOVERNMENT WASTE MILLIONS OF OUR TAX DOLLARS IN AN EFFORT TO MAKE ALL LAW ABIDING CITIZENS AN EASY TARGET.
Spread the word everywhere you can that you are a firm believer in the 2nd Amendment!

It’s time to speak loud before they try to silence and disarm us.
You’re not imagining it, history shows that governments always manipulate tragedies to attempt to disarm the people~

20 dead kids and now isn’t the time to talk about guns ???? When do we ever talk about guns besides times like this ? One kid was shot 11 times far worse then any abortion you wingnuts get upset about. You want impeachment over one dead border troop but 20 dead kids and you’re claiming we’re defenseless. “The price of freedom” as long as isnt not one of your kids ..right ??

    • http://twitter.com/qaihou Paul Miller

You didn’t even know any of those kids, so stop pretending you give a damn.

    • doc255

Maybe we are not being clear enough for you, so I’ll type really slow, so you can keep up. A Memorial service is not the time or place to initiate a discussion about gun control. These kinds of remarks could have waited until after the victims were buried. Is that so hard to understand? Um…never mind.

    • Justin Case

Maybe it’s the right time to be talking about abolishing public schools. That would forever end another one of these random massacres at a public school pronto.

    • http://www.facebook.com/larry.waddell.98 Larry Waddell

Have you ever seen how a baby is shredding and dismembered during an abortion? I guess not. And should it be as long as it isn’t one of your kids? Not, as long as isn’t not one of your kids. That is a double negative which would mean as long as it is one of your kids. Failed English class I suppose.

What a stupid comment to make. A life is a life is a life is a life. It’s precious and invaluable across the board. I’m sorry, but if you are asking me to put more value on one life over another, that is messed up logic. Our society is so messed up because of people who think this way. Furthermore, this world is a crazy place, besides praying about it, I put all my efforts into protecting my children, whatever the way I have to do this, I will do it. If I have to use a gun against someone who wants to harm my family, I will, and you would TOO!

Dana Loesch…..needs to get laid seriously

  • AttackOfTheKillerTomatos

People to need to realize that there is no way any law already in place or newly created, is going to stop a psychopath from hurting and killing innocent people. That is just a cold hard fact of life. A psychopath or a criminal, is going to find a way to hurt innocent people, no matter what, even if they seek out a weapon that’s not a gun.

Maybe people should put the focus on the laws that prevent the mentally unstable from being restricted from roaming around freely in society, until they commit a heinous act, that hurts or kills people.

  • Belinda Henry

I have not watched all the coverage. I had no idea the President would fly there for a prayer service. I find that type of coverage ghoulish. If you did not personally know the victim or a family member what business do you have there? None.

Sorry, but I don’t think it’s appropriate for the CIC to attend memorials for situations like this. A MORE appropriate way for him to spend his time, that might actually HELP citizens is start a national dialogue…NOT about guns, but about the inability of parents and friends of those mentally ill TO GET HELP FOR THEM. This will not stop until the needs of those will mental issues are met and yes, even if it means forcibly medicating some of them for the safety of the majority.

    • NRPax

I don’t object to the CIC appearing at a memorial but politics needs to be kept out of the speeches at times like that.

  • Simon Bee

Guns don’t kill people, people do, but guns sure make it easier. If we are all to be really and truly deeply honest with ourselves, when the constitution was written and the right to bear arms was enshrined, todays situation was never envisaged. It was never intended that semi automatic weapons should be owned by ordinary members of the public.

Personally I think every one of you should be ashamed that you are even reacting to this tragedy. All of you gun owners should say NOTHING. After all, your constant battle to keep your RIGHTS is directly responsible for the deaths this weekend.

Some measure of gun control is absolutely necessary, indeed is well overdue. If people want to shoot, they should keep their guns at the range, not at home. If you need your gun for hunting or outdoor shooting away from the range, then you have to sign it out and sign it back in again. No guns to be kept at home.

Databases of gun ownership should be matched against mental health databases.

All gun licences to be renewed yearly, after psych tests.

When gun owners die, their guns are collected and destroyed.

increase price of bullets available in stores like walmart. The ranges and the army and police can still have cheap bullets, but every bullet that isn’t shot by the police or on a range should be very expensive.

charge a few hundred dollars for licenses.

make licensing a federal issue rather than a state issue. with the same laws across the whole country.
Properly regulate the importation of guns and ammunition.

I know these changes wouldn’t really make a lot of difference, because you are all like drug addicts. You will do anything to get your fix.

The only way to really resolve this issue is to disband the NRA, revoke ALL licenses, and remove all the idiot right wing-nut tea party fools from politics, and then take all the guns from the streets.

All you gun lovers are just trading on some ill thought out words written some 200 years ago, which are no longer relevant to todays society.
    😉

    • Justin Case

That’s a lot of typing just to prove your naive.

    • Infinite_Indeterminism

Did you type all that from Chicago ?

    • NRPax

Simon, being an idiot is a privilege you should avoid abusing.

It was never intended that semi automatic weapons should be owned by ordinary members of the public.

Really? I suppose you must have the King James version of the Constitution because I don’t recall any passage that limits technology or says that the laws are null and void when things progress.

After all, your constant battle to keep your RIGHTS is directly responsible for the deaths this weekend.

That would be EVERYONE’S rights. Even yours. And we’ve gone down the road of gun control. In fact, strict laws like you imagine were partly responsible for what happened.

And good luck on the “take all guns away” approach. I have a feeling you would not be as happy living in a totalitarian society as you think you would.

    • http://www.facebook.com/larry.waddell.98 Larry Waddell

When gun owners die their family members decide what to do the guns, the Gov’t does not come in and confiscate the guns of deceased gun owners. I don’t know where you get your information. I love how willing you are to shred the constitution, by disbanding the NRA you are removing the right of association, to revoke state issued carry licenses would violate the 10th amendment, to remove Tea-o conservatives would violate the 17th amendment, and to confiscate the 2nd amendment and the right of personal private property. What you are advocating is totalitarianism. But that seems to be fall back position of all progressive liberals.

Clearly a large number of Libs have anger management issues. THEY probably DON’T have any business owning a gun. But I still wouldn’t advocate legislation. They need professional, not political, help.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=607980733 Angelique Hamilton

There is nothing sinister about trying to comfort a grieving nation by saying we need to do what we can to protect our children. People have different ideas about how we achieve that, but the majority of normal civilized people naturally feel like we should do something. There isn’t anything particularly political about that. I think we should all pause and reflect on the collective mental health of any society where a size able portion of the population believes we should be armed to fight each other however. How did we get to the point where we think and act like our greatest enemy is our fellow countrymen?

    • Justin Case

Had he not specifically said “we can’t let politics stop us from doing something” (paraphrase) then it would not have been political.

    • Elena0412

We “got there” when one half of the country’s citizens are in complete disagreement with the other. And the half that “won” is attempting to force the other half to do what they want.

      • Michael Hampton

Then why aren’t republican politicians willing to negotiate? If they would actually do their job and compromise to move our country forward, then the other side wouldn’t have to push through things that you don’t like. Without input, they will never get legislation that works for both sides. And this elections shows that without compromise, republicans will never win a national election again.

        • Elena0412

By compromise, you mean “do exactly what the dems want and shut up?” No. We have a majority in the House, so “we won” that one.

          • Michael Hampton

Wow. What you fail to realize is that a compromise involves concession from both sides. That is actually the meaning of compromise. I am sorry that you will not concede one small item to democrats and that doing so disgusts you. Democrats have conceded a lot. And political polls show that if no compromise is finalized, it will be viewed as a failure on the republicans side for being so unwilling to work together.

          • Elena0412

Exactly *what* have democrats conceded? They want more taxes and more spending. Don’t see where they compromise…

  • wwbdinct

I loathe this President with a passion. That being said, I felt that he was right to be there – to meet privately with the families and 1st responders and to speak at the vigil. However, he could have conveyed his political points to the families in private rather than at a public prayer service, which was an inappropriate place to do so. Also, what is it with the fact that when he wipes away tears, he uses his middle finger. It’s not the first time and it’s very telling.
Finally, and most importantly, why on earth was the FLOTUS not there? The most horrific tragedy that has happened in this country since he was president and she doesn’t have the decency to be there to comfort these parents – as a mother! Utterly disgraceful!

    • Elena0412

Why would a parent of a recently murdered child want to see Obama?? A priest, maybe, but a politician?? I don’t get it. I’d assume they would be on heavy doses of tranquilizers for quite a while. He couldn’t send a card, like they do for soldiers (many of them teens)?

      • wwbdinct

Elena – I can’t speak for the parents but like it or not, this was a major tragedy and any President should be there. It doesn’t bother me that he was there – it bothers me more that Michelle wasn’t.

        • Elena0412

As a parent, I can’t imagine wanting to talk to any politician mere DAYS after this tragedy, if at all.

  • fmahoney

“My mom would be so glad seeing the president holding her grand daughter” What a nice thing to say about the commander and chief. Why don’t some of you on this site say something nice about anyone. Your hate will consume you and the guns to solve issues will be used to kill your follow man and in this case little children. Yes people kill people but guns make killing people at mass gathering easier. Stop the madness we will not look the other way!

Stop using the deaths of these children to force your political agenda through. Despicable.

Here is something nice I have to say about you, it will be nice when you go back to the Daily Kos. Yes stop the madness, the young man who killed those kids was indeed mad. Had his parent’s stopped his madness none of ‘this would have happened. Oh, how sad that the federal gov’t wasn’t there for him when he needed Dear Leader the most. • http://www.playvicious.com/ Ro

Honestly, what Ms. Loesch said was poorly timed and did nothing to help contribute anything to a horrific situation. No, the subsequent responses were obviously not cool, but people are afraid and angry and Ms. Loesch made herself a target by using her platform to express such a moronic sentiment, especially after such a decisive election. Obama has no need to be ‘political’ any longer because he won. That’s just the reality of the situation.

I can understand how people are a bit turned off by the responses to Ms. Loesch, but to infer that it’s just ‘the libs’ or ‘Dems’ that have engaged in such uncouth rhetoric is irresponsible. As we’ve seen in the last election, there has been ugly commentary on either side.

And if you really care about what happened to those children, who cares about what a few ignorant people on the web are saying in response to a talking head? It just doesn’t matter in relation to the real issue that no one commenting on this post seem to care about, which is keeping our kids safe.

Ha, so in response to a post that decries name calling, you re-enforce your point by calling me names. Classy.

No I didn’t. I asked you a question. Are you going to answer it? Oh never mind you did along with showing your IQ level is non existent. In government based and founded ‘for the people and by the people’ Loesch or anyone has as much right if not more to speak to politics as any idiotic politician. Let me guess…critical thinking skills are not your forte. Common sense escapes you.

          • http://www.playvicious.com/ Ro

Ha, more insults. I appreciate you validating my point that buffoonery comes from either side of the political spectrum.

I did answer your question. It just doesn’t agree with your premise.

You can call me whatever you like if that makes you feel better, but no one ever said she didn’t have the right to say something, so that point is irrelevant. What people are critical of is what she said in the context of such a horrific incident. She was the right to say anything she wants, and we have the right to call it dumb. Welcome to America.

          • http://profile.yahoo.com/44F4AB4VSCTOCHBMBG4ZWWD5OU Laurel

And I appreciate you validating and displaying your ignorance in a public forum. And if calling a spade a spade and an idiot an idiot is an insult then so be it. I would rather be honest than worry about your hurt feelings. And yep…I have the right to call you dumb which is stating the obvious. As I said critical thinking escapes you and yes I pointed out you displayed the answer to my question quite nicely. Thanks!

It appears you are incapable of applying the Constitution and Bill of Rights because you lack understanding of the broader concepts that go with them. You know what is insulting? Your appalling ignorance.

          • http://www.playvicious.com/ Ro

If it makes you feel better to think that your insults hurt my feelings, ha, then I’m perfectly fine with that.

And as this conversation has nothing to do with the Bill of Rights or the Constitution, because no ones rights is being infringed upon, I see no reason to respond to that.

Feel free to continue hurl whatever taunts you wish. When you demonstrate the ability to say something relevant to the topic, I will respond. Until then, have a good day.

Sure they are. Trying to shut down Loesch via criticism is a denial of her rights. That is the whole point of the left’s continual ranting and raving foaming at the mouth name calling continually. You want to shut her up or anyone that disagrees with you. Why do you use ‘ha’ so much?

I’m not concerned with your feelings one way or the other quite frankly. Every single thing I said is relevant. Here again you are another egotist thinking just because they proclaim something is or isn’t that it automatically makes it so.

There is a bigger picture here that you are avoiding.

You have a nice day as well.

          • http://www.facebook.com/larry.waddell.98 Larry Waddell

So your primary concern is the safety of the children, and from your point of view those politicians who are calling for gun control are concerned about the children. They aren’t engaging in politicization and exploiting a tragedy to push an agenda that has been on their radar since the progressives of the early 20th Century were in power? Is that right?

Would you say then, that in their concern for the children these politicians would want to put trained, armed staff in schools just in case a psychopath should steal a gun and neglect the law in an attempt to do harm to innocents? These trained, armed individuals would then be able to respond to the immediate crisis while they wait for the politicians to pass their draconian laws?

          • http://www.playvicious.com/ Ro

So protecting children from violence is a ‘progressive’ agenda. Really?

No, that isn’t what I would say at all. And what draconian laws are you referring to. Just come out and say what you mean as it’s clear you are trying to make a specific point. Just say it and we can have a conversation.

Gee do you always distort context for personal gain? No I don’t agree. I said if any politician can do it so can Loesch or any citizen based upon our form of government and the rights contained within the founding documents. If you criticize Loesch then you should criticize the president or all of the politicians politicizing it. Politicians don’t get some extra special rights that no one else gets. And just what do you think “speak to politics” means?!

“The first presser he gave was the right tone. Apparently that speech writer took a break.”
I saw some of the MSM yesterday crowing about how Obama had written his own speech for the service (and with only one real writer’s help! isn’t he a genius!!!) so that’s Dana’s answer.

That’s because I don’t care. Names don’t hurt me. Just like your nonsensical rebuttal doesn’t hurt me.

Oh Lord you need serious help which it may be too late. You are another that critical thinking seems to escape. You referred to name calling in your response to me which denotes that you think I called you a name. Apparently simple English escapes you as well. And labeling something nonsensical because you lack a rebuttal does not make it nonsensical. What is does is make you look and sound weak. You going to stamp your foot too?

I’m not the one working myself up into a tizzy, am I? All I said, to someone other than you by the way, was that he was defending a woman, Loesh, for calling the president names. Not you. Never you.

If it doesn’t hurt or bother you, why are you commenting on a thread that you don’t agree with? Why are you questioning every person on here because their opinions just so happen to differ with your own? If you want to change someone’s mind, get out from behind your computer and go out, get your hands dirty, and work with the people. I have respect for those who disagree with me, if they do it respectfully and offer up something with substance. You’re doing nothing for your cause on here; people have their minds set. You are merely trying to rile up people, and anger them for not agreeing with you.

So you ‘righties’ will do nothing. Too bad for Newtown. Tough luck Aurora, not the righties problem. Nothing wrong with assault weapons, they keep us free, right? There are over 58000 gundealers in this country, more than all the starbucks in the world, Arizona has less than one fifth the population as new York and gun laws the NRA likes. New york has gun laws the NRA hates and has the same number of gun homicides as Arizona, even with more than five times the population. So stop with this states with open gun laws are safer. They are not.
30 round clips were used in this slaughter. Why do we need 30 round clips? Apparently so target shooters do not have to bother reloading as much. How secure were the mothers weapons? Another case of a weapons owner killed by their own weapon. Certainly her weapons did not make her or her community safer.
Keep your damn guns but we need thumb prints and ballistics test one every. Registration. Proof of private sales. Training classes for all gun owners. No open carry and real reasons for a concealed weapons permit. Restrict magazine sizes. Will this be inconvenient for the gun owners? Yes. Will it save lives? Yes.

    • http://www.facebook.com/lisa.dean.564 Lisa Dean

You have absolutely no clue about legal gun ownership because everything you named is done by legitimate gun owners. If you want to have an educated debate regarding guns then pleased educate yourself first.

    • http://www.facebook.com/james.m.yerian James Michael Yerian

Moral issue, not a “gun” issue. 100 years ago mass shootings like this didn’t happen. They could have. Why didn’t they? It’s because of our dumbed-down, morally obtuse society-thanks to the Left, their public school system, and their inability to call crazy, good, and evil, as such.

      • Michael Hampton

Nope. It’s because of the national news. It’s because these killers have been made into celebrities. They are trying to outdo each other. Stop Fox, CNN, and MSNBC from making these killers into celebrities and maybe you will see a decrease.

        • http://www.facebook.com/lisa.dean.564 Lisa Dean

@twitter-18085291:disqus – I completely agree with you. Things like this are tweeted, posted to youtube and on the news within minutes if not seconds of the first report. In a race to be first with the news in a 24/7 news cycle things are even falsely reported which doesn’t help the situation either.

        • http://profile.yahoo.com/44F4AB4VSCTOCHBMBG4ZWWD5OU Laurel

And your proof of that is??? Did he leave a note? So far the school shootings and Gifford shootings.with the possible exception of Columbine, point to unhinged mental illness. Nothing in the aftermath has ever pointed to any of these killers wanting to be famous. I think you are confusing them with serial killers of the order of Zodiac, Bundy, etc. in which case that is a fictional history put into the public narrative via Hollywood.

          • Michael Hampton

It is my opinion. No proof needed.

I’m not. I am actually laughing at your ‘opinion’ so readily based in ignorance. It is of little wonder this country is screwed up. there is a whole lot of opinion since we know what those are like and how abundant but very little fact or reality.

He didn’t say they wanted to be famous. He said they have been made into celebrities by the media. If Connecticut wants to ban all weapons they can hold a state referendum and vote on the matter. If they, as a state, want to give up their guns they are welcome to do so. Arizona has a high rate of gun crime because of drug cartels and illegal aliens not because of gun laws.

Take away all the guns and senseless violence will still happen. To politicize this tragedy for any reason is as contemptible as the shooting itself. But, “never let a crisis go to waste”, right?

Kudos to Ms. Loesch for speaking truth to power!

One thing that is worth mentioning is that print and radio reports on this have stressed over and over that this is the “single worst school shooting massacre in US history”.

The MSM outlets are being duplicitous because they are not telling the complete story. The single worst school massacre occurred in Michigan in 1927 when a former school board member with a history of mental illness from an accident planted three bombs and killed 45 people.

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=103186662 The full story can be found here – http://www.trutv.com/library/crime/serial_killers/history/bath/index_1.html

Common thread between the two killers was their mental capacity… or lack thereof. Both were ‘wackos’ for lack of a better word who should have been in an institution where they would not be a danger to anyone including themselves.

The question should not be about responsible gun ownership but rather how much longer will society allow such deranged individuals to roam free and continue to cause such misery. Thanks to HIPPA legislation, even family members cannot be told if someone is a threat to themselves or others.

While I do not like the idea of someone being locked against their will, we as a society need to realize that as long as there are madmen among us – protected by the very institutions put in place to deal with them – such nightmares will continue to happen. Take away all the guns and those predisposed to violence will use some other tool to commit their evil.

I love how these people think a comment they disagree is, should not be allowed to be printed, but when you use social media, isn’t that how it works? For every comment, someone somewhere is offended. If you can’t play the game, read a book.
