NFL fans have spent much of the night criticizing and mocking NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell, who is responsible for bringing in replacement referees. Alas, some Twitter users are taking it too far:

The Mob is well aware that Goodell is getting death threats. Some, following the lead of Wisconsin State Senator Jon Erpenbach are posting his phone number:

Some Twitter users are also threatening the replacement refs:

Note the Twitter Rules:

Violence and Threats: You may not publish or post direct, specific threats of violence against others.

The NFL announced it will not overturn the ruling.

Naturally, that prompted more death wishes for Goodell:

  • piper77

scab refs sucks. can’t say i disagree.

    • TomJB

Yep. They made an absolute mockery out of the 2 prime-time games this week for everyone to see, and the 2nd was worse than the 1st.

    • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

      AMEN Piper…BTW, WWE Wrestling Ref who blew Cena/Punk call last week is a good example of untrained, uninformed refs…Take a hint, Mr. Goddell! Jawamax 8<{D}

    • piper77

not advocating for the death of anyone, but these refs are the worse. i also don’t believe that refs like ed hochuli, who is also a lawyer, deserves a raise or a pension. these replacement refs just ruined 2 games in the last 2 nights that may have playoff implications. something needs to be done.

  • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

    “Note the Twitter Rules:

Violence and Threats: You may not publish or post direct, specific threats of violence against others.”

    Rules? I’m a *cough*THUG*cough* I don’t follow no rules….(bad grammar intentional)

    • whodat1

Just use Replacement Ref Rules. That way you can do pretty much anything you want.

      • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

Uh, where do you think the refs got their rules from? They read the Twitter rules, saw some of the tweets, and said, ‘Fck NFL rules, I’ll do what I want!'(South Park).

  • Love of Country

Liberals are so hateful that it boggles the mind … I blame their liberal parents.

  • theslowrider

Who was in the replay booth? Wasn’t that a “regular” ref? They had the chance to look at the replay and get it right. Spending your money on professional football is for idiots and wannabes.

  • 2ifbyT

Best post-game tweet – from professional golfer Bubba Watson: “hey @nfl fans, watch Ryder Cup this week. we got no refs.”

  • somatic60

Wah Wah, my football got screwed up. Hopefully Obama will keep his dumb ass out of this.

    • james94780

“The, uh, replacement refs, uh, acted, uh, stupidly.”

    • uteuteuteute

The replacement refs are doing their best. Just like Obama…

      • Jillane Kent

At the very least, they’ve replaced Obama as men who do their jobs most poorly.

  • somatic60

The regular refs are far from perfect. You all need to chill out. Dumbasses.

  • Gary Knigh

It’s bad enough when the players have that attitude just imagine what some high stakes gamblers will be thinking when they start losing 6 figures or more over a call like that? We all know the players, well some make enormous wages and who can fault the Refs for wanting to get in on the action as owners and everyone else are making some big bucks. What they do is professional also and I suspect that eventually the league will come around to seeing it that way.

  • Jillane Kent

People are certainly passionate (by passionate, I really mean insane) when their bread and circus parades do not meet their expectations……

  • DurkaDurka

These games exist for gambling. That’s the audience. And when you rob gamblers.. well, it ain’t pretty. Can you imagine the millions of dollars people had on the game.. Wheew boy. I wouldn’t want to be those people. Degenerate’s with nothing to lose coming for your head. Ouch.

    • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

      The mob and their bookies are probably ticked off, too…but their solution would be nowhere near rational… Jawamax 8<{D}

    • Chris Parsons

$250 million shifted on that bad call

  • Jack Offelday

Twitter has degenerated into a sophomoric hate-fest. Facebook is releasing private user data. No wonder I don’t have a “social networking” account. This was predictable.

    • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

I have a twitter… just so I can reply to the loons Twitchy posts. It’s gotten me suspended twice so far. And counting!

  • Quasimodo4

The NFL is now a joke. These scabs do not even know the rules.

    • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

      Neither do the players, apparently.

  • shane2813

That’s why I watch NASCAR BABY!!!!!

    • Aestro

      Brian France isn’t much better.

  • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

Maybe the NFL should hire players that know the rules of the game. -“We both had possession of it. I don’t even know the rule but I guess the tie goes to the receiver,” Tate said.”

  • Person

You people are sick. Murder over a damn game? Get real

  • T Keern

Only thing more dumb than these replacement refs are the tweeters talking about killing Goodell and the refs, and they have their name attached to it.

  • Dave Shumaker

Death threats are from people who have lost perspective; this IS just entertainment. Having said that, it is entertainment from which we have come to expect high standards and it appears The Shield doesn’t care if standards lapse, since fans will buy tickets and TV packages and jerseys. For myself, I ask this: can we get the owners to pry open their wallets with crowbars and PAY for younger, fitter, smarter and formally-trained and constantly educated, FULL-TIME game officials and let the minimum wage Foot Locker employees return to the mall? AND THAT ALSO MEANS THE LEAGUE PEOPLE WHO BLEW THE CALL IN THE REPLAY BOOTH — they are not part of the referee lockout, these are League schmoes.

  • Vinny Papagiorgio

Your football is disrupted and you want to hang the commissioner?

Your whole country has been destroyed by the central bank and you do nothing.

    • precursor

NO….Our whole country has been destroyed by Obama and democrats.

  • TugboatPhil

If you want to get mad at Goodell about something, how about him letting players wear their hair down to cover their numbers. If it covers their name, it should be tucked into the helmet.

    • stuckinIL4now

NFL has an official rule that jerseys have to be tucked in and if they come loose during a play and the player doesn’t tuck it back in, they can get fined for it.

  • precursor

Death threats are astounding. My sister (who works in the federal government) told me once…..never PUT anything on the internet…that you don’t want to have follow you for the rest of your life. You can delete it…but it remains out there and anyone….can find it.

So because you type it….and then perhaps delete it….it never deletes. REMEMBER THAT.

  • Tamara Bates-Rhodes

This is the guy who worried that Rush Limbaugh owning a tiny share of the St Louis Rams would harm the image of the league. Sigh.

    • John

      Yep. Never forget.

  • John

People are stupid….I’m an avid football fan, but there are more important things in life than this. If anything it makes it interesting. Seeing people who get paid millions of dollars for doing less work than the middle class, whining like babies….I love it.

  • Steve

All these fans thought it was fine when Goodall crushed the Saints, suspending our coach for a year, taking out our general manager and assistant head coach – all without any evidence. Most of you, not following the Saints, probably haven’t followed this closely, but trust me, it basically came out that Goodall had no evidence. Now, look at how mad all of you are at Goodall, think about how Saints fans feel. We were 13-3 last year, and we’ll probably be 4-12 this year.

  • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

    Refs blew it last night in Seattle, gave Seahawks the win in spite of Jennings interception…But let’s not do anything rash, just replace Godell and Idiot refs. Jawamax 8<{D}

  • Veronica West

Why the hell do we have to hear from Sandra Flake? Will someone do me a favor and smack that Q-Tip looking wrench upsde the head?

  • WugMac

Sounds like one heck of a plan dude, I like it.

  • James Klett

I have it on good authority that local “teams” will be set up in each NFL locality. Volunteers will select neighborhoods where the games are popular. The “teams” will knock on doors asking for contributions for a sum which will bring back veteran refs. Those areas that do not collect enough money will be blacked out. The teams will have official documentation and the contributions can be dropped into special “trophies”
Contributors can sign up for annual contributions to this effort.
Asked why this effort can be made one official replied angrily “They’re gettomg top quality for free, why shouldn’t they pay for it?”
Efforts to make the cable companies assess a fee have so far been unhappy.

  • James Klett

    NFL cancelled local
contributions” collections for aging refs. It seems the cheerleaders wouldn’t appear.
Seriously, all my life I have been a nobody. It is times like this considering the comments here that I say “Thank God!”

  • Diane Stephan

You folks and your silly football games.

  • PennyRobinsonFanClub

Jeebus Effin Xmas I don’t understand this AT ALL. But then I’m not a football fan.

  • Big_Bear

Good thing that Twitter’s 80 IQ gang is too doped up to do more than tweet.

  • JettieG

LMAO. I’m a Packers fan, too, but wishing someone to die? No. Erm, I also love the Saints and the Cowboys so I’m a bit of a Bippy.

  • Nick11766

This is all about Free Speech. After all the gov’t (and their corporate cronies) censor the media and ban books like “America Deceived II”.

Last link of “America Deceived II” before it is completely censored:

  • ErnieErnie

What the refs want and aren’t talking about is they want to become full time permanent with bennies that include health care and the big issue, not money as they would have you believe but they do not want the NFL to be able to fire them, kind of like the teachers unions have.
That’s why this is taking so long, its not money its they want to be able to be inept and not have anyone able to do anything about it.
The NFL is actually protecting the fans by saying, look at what is happening now, we could have gotten rid of those people making bad calls. WIthout that we end up with football just like last night, replacements or not.

  • ClydeS

I don’t wish death on Roger Goodell. I would like to see him broke, homeless and living on the street, though.

  • Mark Cramer

Or, you know, you could just, oh, stop watching the games, stop buying tickets and merchandise, etc. But nah, threaten to kill someone, that’s much better.

  • Richard Jefferies

I love football, but so many football fans are an absolute embarrassment. You sound worse than the radicals in the ME. You want to kill the commissioner of the NFL because a football game didn’t go your way? Are you crazy? STFU you morons.

  • Mr. H

I am responsible for the comment at the top of the page. It was in incredibly poor taste and I was under the mistaken impression this was being chanted outside the stadium post game. Under no circumstances do I condone the harm or killing of another person. That runs contrary to what I stand for in my faith and I am deeply ashamed and sorrowful for my hypocritical behaviour. I fully repudiate any of the material sent in that particular tweet. “Fire…(a sin dismiss from his job) Roger Goodell would have been a more appropriate response. My original response was not.
