Collister is a journalist based in San Antonio, Texas, so he presumably would know.

As media sins go, this one is relatively minor and understandable.  But it’s a good reminder that he holier-than-thou “real journalist” crowd makes mistakes too.

Politico apparently has fixed the error. Twitchy was unable to locate a correction.

San Antonio candidate’s twin a parade stand-in

    Yeah. I read the article.
This first: “Castro told the Associated Press he had a conflicting event and didn’t intend to deceive anyone when state Rep. Joaquin Castro, D-San Antonio, boarded the City Council barge in the city’s River Parade.” Conflicting event. Check.

Then this later in the article: “Both of us were going to go, and at the end, we scheduled another meeting,” Castro said. “He still wanted to go, and council members could bring family members, and I don’t have a spouse.”

So he REALLY did have a conflicting event… or he didn’t, and he just made one up on the spot and his brother went in his stead?

Castro doesn’t even speak Spanish. He had to get a tutor so he could learn the basics and pander to the La Raza crowd.

Would it matter to Democrats, as long as both had “ethnic” sounding names?
