Leftists have spent much of the afternoon criticizing and mocking Rep. Todd Akin, the Republican nominee for U.S. Senate in Missouri, who made poorly-worded comments about “legitimate rape.”

Alas, a few Twitter users are taking it too far:

It is fine to call out Akin for scientifically-inaccurate remarks.

However, to suggest (even in jest) that Akin or his family members ought to be raped is beyond the pale.

acftually, his remarks are scientifically accurate. Assault Rape Pregnancies Are Rare http://www.physiciansforlife.org/content/view/492/26/

Going way too far, ladies! Do not lose your credibility by saying really stupid things.

::sigh:: so all of these so called ‘enlightened liberals’ are now calling for the sexual assault of a human being. The way they can quickly turn an insensitive comment (or any gaffe by the Right for that matter) into a call for violence will always astound and confound me.

Are these outraged Tweeters the same lefties that laughed when Letterman made a joke about a baseball player raping Gov Palin’s 15 year old daughter?

      Lefties? LOL.

  • Bill Steward

People are so quick to overreact to virtually everything…. Akin wasn’t justifying rape, he was simply stating what medical studies have also shown.. That rape-pregnancies are far more rare than are claimed by some groups… Here’s why… http://www.christianliferesources.com/article/rape-pregnancies-are-rare-461

If my memory of biology serves, even it he was “legitimately raped” seems he would be very unlikely to get pregnant….Oh wait, I get it, the left is just advocated violence against people who disagree with them again in an attempt to be clever. Never mind.

Love to see this anger from the Polanski defenders.

Maybe the Rep was talking about Rape that isn’t Rape-Rape, as Whoopi put it

  • Spookybuscus

Well, it’s not like, rape rape, to quote Whoopi.

truly hilarious that anyone would defend a member of CONGRESS who’d actually, yes, DEFEND rapists by claiming the ‘legitimacy’ of rape as a defense of his position on abortion – to even for a moment attempt to tie the rarity of forced pregnancy to a defense of the governments right to control a women’s uterus is the height of ignorance and stupidity – yet another reason that Missouri ranks only behind Mississippi as the dumbest state in the nation..

I’d say shame on these democrats, but they have no shame.

They are capable of anything. Which is why it is important we remove them from power.

It sure doesn’t take much for the mask to come off to reveal dark and violent fantasies on the left.

    These are your neighbors!

Think about that! Look at the darkness just beneath the surface.

Actually, rape from pregnancy /is/ fairly uncommon, and when it does happen, most girls keep their babies. http://afterabortion.org/2004/rape-incest-and-abortion-searching-beyond-the-myths-3/ http://afterabortion.org/2010/sexual-assault-and-abortion-survey/

Perhaps a legitimate claim of rape should also come with a police report…if a woman/girl is raped, she should stand up for herself and file the report against the criminal that took the liberties. There are more than enough advocacy groups funded with charity and government money to help ANY rape victim.

    • milletime810

Im sorry but if you refuse to understand and have sympathy for why so many rapes go unreported I dont know what to tell you.

      • weRbroke

As a woman, and one that values HER OWN BODY…there is no way in H E L L, I am going to let someone RAPE ME and get away with it. I guess I don’t understand why women refuse to report the crime.

It is fine out here beyong the pale. Come on in, the nasty is fine.

I retweeted the /walmart Jesus one. That is excellent.

Romney “disagrees” with Akins statement? Just like “Those aren’t the words we would have chosen” in response to Limbaughs comments on Sandra Fluke. Romney is scheduled for surgery next week, he is having a backbone put in. Its a donation from the Blob, so I guess it won’t be too much of a change from the one he has now.I’m amazed that Mittens can even stand up. Must be those Magic Underoos helping him out.

Found probably the only eight tweets out there that didn’t spell rape “r-a-e-p.” Kudos, Twitchy.
