On Thursday evening, Townhall editor and University of Arizona alum Katie Pavlich delivered a well-received speech sponsored by the University of Arizona Young Americans for Freedom.

Via Arizona YAF’s Facebook page:

But shortly before she was scheduled to begin her speech on Second Amendment rights, a room change was announced.

A “scheduling conflict”? Pavlich isn’t so sure about that one and says she’s seen the University of Arizona “pull this crap” before.

  • Mark1971

That podium was obviously designed by a man, and a smart man at that.

    • Ghee!

      LOL, you stole my thunder!

    • desicon

Really, now think of Hillary Clinton giving the speech on war on women in that cackling voice. Is it the podium?

Beauty without brain is Hollywood and sunset blvd.

It is the person, brain with beauty a potent conservative.

      • Perso Nasplit

I just threw up a little in my mouth. Please refrain from putting the image of killary in that place

        • SarumanDWhite

just a little? i’m still gagging..

          • Lyndel Beckwith

            Full on barfing here!

      • Proud2bfromtheUSA

The thing about that is that the Libs know that Hillary is not as pleasant to look at and she will be in a much bigger room hence farther away from the eyes of her adoring fans and also behind a rather large podium.

        • Don Havlicek

Not ‘behind a podium’ .. standing on a podium behind a LECTERN.

          • Ed McDowell

…. while simultaneously patting your head and rubbing your stomach.

          • GaryTheBrave

Thank you. I noticed that too but decided not to say anything.

      • Ed McDowell

Think they would pull a last minute venue switch on ,say Rachel Madcow due to a scheduling mix up? I don’t think so.

      • vphilly

Do you mean former First Lady Cankles?

      • Chris

I didnt do it, but after those two comments regarding Katie being at the podium, I should have down voted you for the nasty you tried to fill my head with!!

    • GaryTheBrave

Yes, but Katie chose her own dress. Smart woman. 😉

A university pulling crap? I’m shocked, SHOCKED!

    • Zach Brewer

I know right? I expect that crap at Ivy League schools like Harvard, but at a legitimate institute of higher education? Never! (sarcasm off)

      • TJCrane_NCC1701

Funny thing though, the university KNOWS that it can confuse it’s Borg-like liberal morons and thinks that it will work with it’s conservative (smart, curious, informed) students as well.

        How’d that work out…LOL !

    • freeinaz

Do you think they may have posted signs up at the initial room to direct them to the right one? My guess is they didn’t. What a cheap ploy by the progressives..AGAIN

  • AT

You know what always makes me laugh about liberalism, as an ideology? The fact that any holder of that ideology has ZERO confidence in it. None. Not one tiny bit of it.

That’s evidenced here (and, of course, in countless other examples – especially reactions to anti-abortion events). It’s why they always pull these kinds of shenanigans; trying to keep anyone from hearing from Conservatives. You’d think – YOU’D THINK – that if liberals were secure, at all, in their ideology they’d be like, “Yea, OK you crazy conservative nutter, go ahead and make a fool of yourself. Everyone knows our ideology reigns supreme.” If liberals were secure, at all, in the unity among other liberals, they’d be like, “Go for it, conservative wacko – you’ll just be a target on stage for us to throw rotten vegetables at!”

But they don’t. They engage in hijinks to try and shutter away an ideology that clearly threatens their own because of its rational superiority. Aside from the pity one can’t help but feel for the pathetic steps these ideological weaklings feel compelled to take, Conservatives should feel a real sense of empowerment and reaffirmation when this kind of things happens.

It means they’re threatened. It means they see you as dangerous – to them, and their ideology. They don’t have the ability to shut you up outright, so the best they can do is try to discourage your efforts. That’s an open admission by them that they recognize Conservatism as a superior ideology, one that cannot be permitted any quarter to gain a foothold – because it would undermine Liberalism *on its merits alone*. (And they can’t have that, because it erodes whatever ill-gotten power – usually over others – that liberalism has allowed them to improperly amass.)

In an ideological debate, liberalism loses to conservatism. And the liberals know it. THAT’S why cowards like UOA play shell games. Pathetic on their part, empowering on ours.

    • Ghee!

      103% agree.

    • alanstorm

Yep. That’s why they feel the need to shout down conservative speakers, steal conservative campus papers, and pull crap like this – somebody might actually get some facts, and the facts aren’t on their side.

      • spaceycakes

after I graduated from college in Virginia, I lived in the same small town as my college. They booked one of the NOI dudes, Elijah Muhammed (?) to speak on Passover. That way no Jewish folks would be there to hear him call them ‘dirty’. Academia is rife with agenda.

    • MrSnuggles2k2

They have to lie, distort, and smear others in order to win debates.

This is not new, it has been the way of things with totalitarians for centuries, if not all of human history.

uh, ok. I see your point.

    • socalcon

  • alanstorm

Not a victim – the speech went on. She just called them on their bad behavior.

We already know we can’t compete with liberals in victimology.

  • Hey, That’s Pretty Good

You libs act like you are being oppressed every freaking day. All you guys do is play victim. You only get to cast one vote in an election and you cry voter suppression. Someone criticizes your Messiah and you cry racism. You get called out for defending racism from left-wing gutter trash and you play victim because you think your freedom of speech is being infringed because you don’t get away with calling Ben Carson the n-word.

You libs are the kings of playing victims, and libs would have tweeted death treats to the University had they tried to screw over a left-wing speaker. Katie handled the University trying to confuse the people coming to her speech with class. Unlike liberals who would have handled it with trash.

    • Kenneth111

Hey Average Joe…at least we dont SCREAM RACISM over and over saying that the Preisdent is the vicitm or the american people like Democrats do. Or we dont scream income equality when the current gap has grown under the current President. YOU and your lovely, civil lib/progressive trash are the pathetic moaners and bitchers. For God’s sake, you’re the side that invented the “racist dog whistle.” When someone believes everyone is out to get them, that’s called paranoid delusion. Get help and leave us the F alone. Can you do that or are you so miserable in your existence that you have to make the rest of the damn country as miserable as you?

The tides may turn one day and when they find themselves on the receiving end of and IRS audit due to which side they vote on, a law no lib agrees with taking away their rights, etc, then maybe they will understand.

It’s no different than someone throwing you out of their house for saying something they disagree with. I know this point is probably lost on you, what with your overriding disdain for conservatives- after all, they are the type people who said they’d “have those n*ggers voting” for them for the next 200 years……. oh, wait, that was LBJ- a liberal democrat

          • Ms. Abigail van Beagle

I used to consider myself a kickass feminist, but I’m tired of being accused of being a woman hater, kept woman (girl, please!), etc. because my definition of feminism doesn’t include subservience to men and enslavement to irresponsible sex. What passes for feminism seems to preach that you have to have sex if a guy wants it because they have needs (or something), regardless of whether you are on birth control and can’t expect men to forfeit some sensation in order to prevent a baby. Then when you end up with a baby from a guy you barely know, you just have no idea how it happened.
Feminism should involve never getting pregnant if you don’t want to/can’t afford it/don’t know the father very well, not using your gender as a handicap in any way, being responsible for your own birth control and formally kicking the government out of your bedroom, using your head instead of your body to make your way in the world.

          • H50 ✓RAT

Indeed, Feminism was supposed to be about women being strong and making smart choices, not being an irresponsible sl*t and looking for the sugar daddy government to pick up the tab.

I’m just more concerned about the states that are cutting or wanting to cut early voting days or hours on election day.

          • H50 ✓RAT

            Why?
Just like health care, once your in line you get to vote no matter what.
And there is always absentee voting if you cant/dont want to stand in line.

          • WhoDat

I suppose, I’ve just yet to hear a valid reason for cutting those days/hours.

          • H50 ✓RAT

            Staffing and cost issues usually.

          • WhoDat

Well, they need to be cutting something else to pay for them.

          • H50 ✓RAT

Yea, lets start with cutting the county clerks position to pay for it, oh wait……

          • Maryland_Malcontent

Absentee ballots are counted? Here in MD that is up for debate, as it was with the military vote in 2012 :(

          • H50 ✓RAT

They are here. Dont know what the laws are in your state. The problem with the military votes not being counted was DoD didnt send them out in time for them to vote and return them.
Thats why when the kids absentee ballot comes, I forward it to her so that she can and doesnt have to rely on them.

          • Maryland_Malcontent

We had a big to-do in the election for our capital’s mayor (Annapolis, even though DC is MD’s bona fide capital) about improperly sealed absentee ballots and all sorts of shenanigans being pulled by the Democrat Machine as they tried some last-gasp stuff to stop the rogue Republican from winning in the position.

They failed, but the whole debacle caused a collective eyebrow to be raised over absentee ballots here; if this is what happens with a local election then I shudder to think about what goes on at a state-wide level.

            http://articles.baltimoresun.com/2013-11-08/news/bs-md-ar-annapolis-election-canvass-20131107_1_absentee-ballots-annapolis-board-mike-pantelides

          • H50 ✓RAT

On the whole, I really think the absentee ballot system needs to be revamped. Thats where the bulk of the fraud occurs because you dont have to prove your ID when you sign up for it (at least not here) and there isnt any poll watcher oversight for their amassing, storage and tabulation.
Most of the confusion Ive see at the physical polls is when someone is there and told they already voted absentee when they swear they didnt. They are given a provisional ballot, but who knows if they are ever really counted.
My other beef is with the computerized scanners that record your vote without giving you the ability to verify that it was recorded correctly. Dont like those at all.

          • Maryland_Malcontent

I’d prefer to see early voting eliminated. I’ve done it in every election that I could, except 2012, and I don’t much care for it.

          • WhoDat

I love it, the lines are much shorter.

          • Maryland_Malcontent

Due to a combination of an uninformed electorate and spineless politicians who put every controversial decision up for public referendum the lines at early voting were actually longer than the lines on Election Day here.

I’ve enjoyed early voting in when it was actually workable but I don’t trust it here in a state where all one needs to vote is a utility bill or a paycheck.

          • Ms. Abigail van Beagle

A couple of election years ago, I stood in line for upward of 3 hours for the privilege to vote. It was cold and annoying, but if you really want to vote, you do it. I don’t think cutting voting hours is a good idea. The early voting could be fine if they make sure that people aren’t voting early and on election day as well.

          • http://www.black-and-right.com/ Ice Cold Troll

You must have seen the scandal coming out of North Carolina; how is the Left intending to spin this one? Of course, nothing that’s been released has any indication of party inclinations with regard to any of this, but one leftist I jousted with yesterday was practically in hysterics, saying first that he refused to read any “conservative blog” I linked to, and defied me to post just one link to a “real” news source. I gave him two and haven’t heard from him since.

But why would you be concerned about shorter voting hours, when that obviously would affect only people with jobs, and the Democrats’ base is overwhelmingly the unemployed and those too wealthy for work?

          • john lecorchick

au contraire mon frère, im sure “walking around money” produces many votes where valid ID is not an issue

          • H50 ✓RAT

All the states that have voter ID requirements have waivers for fees to get the ID if you need one and cant afford it. Im happy to absorb the costs for that if it means that disenfranchised folks are no longer disenfranchised and to ensure the integrity of the vote. Priorities.

          • http://www.black-and-right.com/ Ice Cold Troll

Wow. Now you sound like one of them thar teebag boys. Ya mean this hyar “free health care” aint a-gonna be really free, after all?

          • rulierose

            hey–you didn’t build that!

          • Ms. Abigail van Beagle

That’s true of welfare too, but the left has no problem getting that.

          • WhoDat

            Never have said that.

        • H50 ✓RAT

No she doesnt think people are stupid, shes calling out the UoA for playing last minute dirty tricks idiot. But you knew that.

          • WhoDat

So, I wonder if the room they changed it to was full or not.

          • H50 ✓RAT

Dont know, but if they moved the event to a place where the parking was bad as Katie pointed out, that probably had an impact, just like UoA intended.
It really depends on how badly the folks wanted to see her. Im sure many who were unaware of the change tweet were late and frustrated. They wouldnt have known, gone to the original location, had to get back in their car, find new parking, etc. Id be irked if I was in their shoes.

        • LMW51

WhoDat it is you who seems to think that the rest of us are stupid. You are trolling. UofA changed the venue on the day of a scheduled event – anyone who doesn’t believe that the last minute change was deliberate is living in a different world that the real one. Liberals are fighting to end free speech for their “political enemies” on all fronts….this is just one more battle in their war….

          • Tom Winegar

It won’t happen in the end but will lead to an all out civil war between supporters of the Union and the Communists without guns…………..care to guess who will win that argument?

          • plumberskid

The problem is that, even though the left claim to hate guns, and they want to see anyone who is pro 2nd Amendment forcibly removed to a FEMA camp somewhere, many of them actually keep guns themselves (along with a good supply of ammo). I know many libs, and everyone of them have some kind of firearm, although they all claim that “guns kill!”

    • A-Train

hey, *insult erased, as I’m the idiot*. they changed it with 8 minutes to go, at least the official tweet announcement.
Yet, the leftist ‘base’ can’t be expected to get a fcking photo ID to vote a year from now? Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaah you got us there!

      • WhoDat

They sent it at 5:52 central time, 4:52 Arizona time, so a couple hours notice.

        • A-Train

my apologies. didn’t realize that these took into account the Easter TZ. I’m the idiot.
Still goes without saying… months to years for the dem base isn’t long enough to get an id.

    • Churchill4President

Anyone with the name “WhoDat” is not worth taking seriously. You not even a good troll.

      • WhoDat

Better than wanting a dead British guy for president.

        • Maryland_Malcontent

What’s wrong with wanting a dead British guy for President?

8 of the first 9 US Presidents were British (and are, obviously, dead). Those 9 dead British men (Churchill + 8 US Presidents) are vastly superior to our example of a living British executive here in the US: barack hussein obama.

          • Paladin

I’m even willing to elect a zombie Reagan in lieu of what we have now.

        • Tom Winegar

Yep, a dead British guy that led the last bastion of freedom in Europe after the Nazi’s occupied the other democracies and before America entered in. I can think of few leaders that could do that now…..can you?

        • http://www.black-and-right.com/ Ice Cold Troll

A dead possum would be better than what we got now.

    • LegalizeShemp

Typical loser liberal tactic, instead of debating straight up you pull dirty little tricks to prevent free speech, especially speech which exposes the lies and criminality of the Democrat Party.

    • LegalizeShemp

Yes,the same way you claim Democrat Party voters are too stupid to get a voter ID badge to legally vote. But that would really cut into your voter fraud, wouldn’t it?

      • Tom Winegar

You seem to have it going on so explain in your own words what will happen if the left continues it’s mission to suspend the Bill of Rights for all non-Communists in America. Being an old and historically educated Conservative, I already know but I want to here your take.

    • http://www.black-and-right.com/ Ice Cold Troll

I don;t think nice people use the word “stupid” any more.

And no, that’s not what she said. What are you, stu— oops.

What are you, not the brightest flame in the candelabra?

    • Buck Nut

So maybe Republicans should make a last minute change in the location of the polling places in the next election, and “forget” to tell Demturds like you about it?

  • LMW51

Call them out! Loud and clear and often.

  • LegalizeShemp

Hah! The cowardly libs put the conservative speaker in a broom closet! Usually they just stand outside and block the entrances or some other Stalinist tactic.

  • Tom Winegar

Anyone else hate the word, NEOCON, as much as I do? It’s a misnomer because we Conservatives haven’t changed our beliefs ever and stick to the same talking points that are based on sound reasoning.

    • Maryland_Malcontent

Isn’t that why we have the term “neocon”, to describe those people who claim to be conservatives but are big-government statists? We need some term to refer to those like Dubya and it wouldn’t seem right to refer to him by the same terms that we use to refer to rabid anti-America leftists like hillary and obama (eg:progressive, liberal).

      • Tom Winegar

Wouldn’t pseudo-con be more appropriate to describe RINO’s like the Bush’s?

      • Tom Winegar

        WEBSTER:

1: a former liberal espousing political conservatism
2: conservative who advocates the assertive promotion of democracy and United States national interest in international affairs including through military means

Apparently to Webster the word Neoconservative was first coined in 1952 so I’m off to educate myself thoroughly on the topic.

    • Zefal

I think the term originated to describe once liberal/leftists whose opinion changed on foreign policy as it related to the Soviet Union back in the cold war days, and for some who changed their opinion on big government social spending back then. They were still socially liberal.

Today I think the term applies to fiscal conservative who are socially liberal. So they aren’t new anymore since a large percentage of Republicans can be described this way. Funny that a lot of them tend to acquiesce to the government’s spendthrift ways.

  • Jake Bradford

She’s lucky. On some campuses a conservative needs bodyguards just to go there & speak. Literally. Why? Because leftists do nothing but train students to hate/despise us & think of us as subhumans.

    • Tom Winegar

…………until there is a disaster and then they are happy for the help from mostly Conservative’s and Christians.

      • Charles Hammond Jr

Maybe that’s what we SHOULDN’T do the next time a disaster rolls around.

We don’t have to fight them… we just don’t have to sustain them.

      • plumberskid

And then get bent out of shape if they don’t get the kind of help they want immediately, if not sooner.

        • Tom Winegar

          Whiny aren’t they?

  • Jake Bradford

At my school, a couple yrs ago, the leftist SA built a “Free Speech wall” where students could write down whatever they believed in. Everybody was all for this outpouring of free speech. BUT then, a couple of people wrote their polite, civil, non-bigoted support for traditional marriage. Shortly after, a “gay activist” & his posse tore down the wall and destroyed it.
