Was Texas Gov. Rick Perry messing with Chuck Todd this morning or does he just not care enough about the MSNBC lapdog to get his name right?

Perry had plenty to say to Todd …

… not that the “real journalists” were interested in that stuff. (But the president simply “misspoke,” right?)

Or maybe …

There just might be a reason for this:

  • ChampionCapua

    Todd!

  • OLLPOH ~ OurLifeLiberty

Hmmm. Better than him calling him ‘hole’.

    • pinupartist

      Or “Ma’am”

      • 0bamasnought

        Or late for supper.

        • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

          And don’t call him “Shirley.”

  • Morneau_for_4

    Awesome. I luv my guv.

  • Ted H.

    “Thank you, Gov. Perry”
    “Adios, mofo”

  • BoscoBolt

    Perry is mispronouncing “turd”.

    • Right Wired ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

      Boston accent?

      • AMERICAN Kafir™✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈwhitey

That would have been ‘tard’, then.

        • mike_in_kosovo

          Wouldn’t it be “Tahd”?

  • alanstorm

“putting more people on Medicare is “tantamount to putting more people on the Titanic”

    Good one!

  • 0bamasnought

As a person who, in a way, has an last name that used more often as a first name, and am known to many by it, I am amused when someone asks what my last name is.
But, were was I, in business, I rarely call someone by their first name. I was always told that unless you are good terms, it is an sign of disrespect.

  • rssllue

Chuck just lives upstairs from him and visits often and this is why Perry calls him by his last name. (Honeymooners reference which is even more fitting since “Todd” works in the sewers like Norton did.)

  • midasrex

    Chuck who?

    • Agent Carmichael

Some reporter that works for the government.

    • lonestar

      F Chuck Todd! :-)

      • AMERICAN Kafir™✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈwhitey

        Just make the ‘Ch’ silent.

  • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Hey, it’s how they roll in Texas, y’know? Callin’ folks by their last names– “Good morning, Governor.” “Hey, Todd, y’old pussy-face– harya doin’?”

    • CatHerder ✓fire! ✓fire!

Around this part of Texas, calling somebody by their unadorned surname is generally the last step before the first punch. I think he was putting Chuckie on notice.

  • disappearing moderate

It get’s confusing since both have those Ricky Bobby kinds of names. At least Perry didn’t mistake Todd for that little guy on the deviled ham can.

  • justlittlolme

Its hilarious to watch everyone do the mega-freakout over so common a ‘Southern thang’ of calling someone by their last name!
    Just…….LOL!

  • AmericanLass

I don’t even know who Todd is. Heard the name on twitter but I don’t know what he does. People with two first names get used to being called by the wrong one.

    • forgetyoutooo

Oh that’s easy. He’s the White House Press Corpse/MSNBC lapdog that has rather dirty knee pads that have not come off since ’07 and a constant drip of white goop dribbling off his chin…that would be Obama’s Chuckie Todd.

      • AmericanLass

Oh, is he where the idea for the puppet/doll that the movie “Chucky” came from ?

      • http://reaganff.tumblr.com/ reaganFF

So THAT’s where Obama’s “corpseman” came from!

  • carla5731

That’s just Rick Perry’s subtle way of sticking it to him. “Hey, Todd, I’m sure you have a first name but, no, I didn’t bother learning it. What’s your first question?”

  • LJPJ

LOL…he knew what he was doing ….old Toddy deserves no respect, call him the lapdog that he is =).

  • Ginger Whetstine

I love that Rick pretends to not even know his name, priceless stuff.

    • World B. Free

I’m not sure he was pretending. It’s an understandable mistake when the guy has 2 first names.

      • Ginger Whetstine

He ran for POTUS, Chucky hosted a debate, he knows full well who he is…..

  • Walknot

The unfortunate reality associated with a first, middle, and first name.

  • Paula

Quit picking on our Governor, Rick Perry. He’s a good guy and a solid Conservative. Calling him Todd is a Texas thang. Obama is the real threat to our Republic. Focus.

I have followed and been involved in Texas politics for many years, I could tell you who the real Texas Conservatives are and who is acting. Rick Perry IS NOT acting.

  • http://youhavetobethistalltogoonthisride.blogspot.com/ keyboard jockey

It’s better than calling him Toad as in Toady. So there’s that.

  • Paula

testing…… Our Texas Governor is a jolly joker. LOL

  • cscape

I prefer the formal, “F Chuck”

  • World B. Free

    TODD!!!!!!!

    • John Howard

      Hello Mrs. Lubner!!

  • Macranthunter

What DO you call someone with two first names?

  • http://thecheshirecactus.blogspot.com/ CheshireCactus

    Two first names

  • c2

File under: Why I Freaking Love Governor Perry

  • HanaFiveO

As someone who regularly cant remember peoples names……I think Ill just say, –it happens.

  • http://youhavetobethistalltogoonthisride.blogspot.com/ keyboard jockey

The tweets are precious media bunny’s got butt hurt because a sitting Governor doesn’t waste his time learning their names.

  • Cabover_Country

I wonder if Todd ever found out “who misled” preznit? I know he was VERY concerned at the Jay Carnival press show.

  • Thomas, Snarkmaster General

Really? I usually just call Chuck “Dick.”

  • Skevvy

Well, if you don’t know who Chuck Todd is you are obviously unqualified to be POTUS! And everything and anything else you say can be dismissed. Chuck Perry Rick Todd, now that we’ve made our introductions, let’s talk ideas…. Todd has none, and Rick can’t recall…..

  • Chris Chambers

Nobody know who Chuck Todd is because Chuck Todd is a nobody.
