The Pisgah Inn sits on federal land on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina. When the government shut down, the inn was forced to close right in the middle of the fall foliage tourism season.

Federal workers are likely to be paid retroactively, but the Pisgah Inn is losing money. And now, several days into the shutdown, the kitchen is tossing out food.

Brought to you by President Stompy Foot.

Owner Bruce O’Connell had hoped to defy orders to close his inn

But the federal government had other ideas.

Protesters gathered over the weekend to demonstrate against the inn’s closure, but for now, it is unable to reopen for business.

O’Connell told Fox News he has hired a lawyer and is seeking a temporary restraining order.

Obama is a Spiteful, Childish communist!

        • Hcon1

I probably shouldn’t say that he liked it, so I won’t

        • QWYS (Hydralisk of the Swarm)

It wasn’t the spanking per se, rumor has it the Putin is not the gentle lover Reggie is …

I know, I know … But in general, I am not a “nice” person. I have a low tolerance for fascism.

      • Thomas Dobbins

Odumbo is much more of a fascist/corporatist…

There isn’t much of a difference between the various variations in collectivism – so I would to agree somewhat.

I live a few mountains down from the Pisgah Inn. (I wonder if I’m still allowed to look at federal land) Judging by how fast the owner caved after he vowed to fight, I bet pressure really came down on him.

Just to add: Some private sector NC folks took the initiative to attract Fall leaf gazers/ outdoorsy tourists with this video (cheesy, but I respect their attempt)

    • Taco Boutit

He didn’t have a whole lot of choice when they parked cars across the entrance to his parking lot. What was he going to do, go out there with a payloader and move them?

Better yet. How about you just get a job and you won’t have to worry about the government tit being available to you.

    • Jack Deth

If Obama sycophant, Reid and his slavish minions actually did the job our tax dollars pay them to do. Five annual budgets passed by the House and squirreled away somewhere in Reid’s office would have been voted upon and passed by now.

And we wouldn’t need politicized Continuing Resolutions!

      Thanks for playing.

Harry could just as easily pass the house CR defunding or at least delaying the individual mandate and congressional exemption and this whole shut down would be over.

See, we can play that game too, give us what we want and then we can negotiate.

      • Determined

That’s part of the problem – you think it is a game.

        • IBXNJ

“Give in to ALL my demands without conditions, then I will listen to your ideas on how to improve health care coverage” Barack Obama. If he gets everything he wants , WHY would he negotiate?????

          • Determined

He isn’t the one demanding first – they are supposed to do their job and pass a budget or CR. Congress is supposed to raise the debt ceiling so we can pay our bills and not default.
Why would he negotiate? why have they in the past? it is called politics. It is how it works.
What you are saying is to encourage this hostage and ransom style negotiations.

          • alanstorm

The House DID pass a CR. The Senate (on orders from Obama) said “screw you, and the constituents you represent.

Why would he negotiate? It is called politics. It is how it works.

Are you always this slow, or is it a special day?

Please enlighten us… did YOU get Obamacare???? Don’t go around telling anybody do something YOU won’t do YOURSELF!!!!

          • DixieAngel_76

Actually, Stevie, I kind of think Congress should hold the line on the debt ceiling at all costs, since they are supposed to represent ‘we the people’, not King Barry or Dirty Harry & Co. Btw, the Department Of The Treasury is robbing the citizens of more than enough money to pay our debts, just so you know. So if those debts don’t get paid it won’t be because Congress didn’t raise the debt ceiling, it will be because the money was misspent.

        • walterc

Don’t you? Harry, Pelosi, Obama all think it is. If they were serious about it they wouldn’t be spending money to close facilities that cost nothing to keep open.

          • Determined

When it affects my 401K and retirement accounts – no, it ain’t a game then!

          • Determined

Well, 8% drop in 2 weeks – not good. Almost a 1,000 points. And if Congress fails to act on the Debt Ceiling – even worse! And because my retirement is for the future – so i have to look ahead at future risks.
You might want to open your eyes to drops in the NASDAQ and DOW right now.

          • alanstorm

          • QWYS (Hydralisk of the Swarm)

You really ought to see someone about your lying its getting a little tedious.

S&P losses since Sept 8, about 21 pts. from the high point of that period, 750pts.

Dow — for the one month period, down about 300, from the high during that period about 1000

If you actually had any knowledge you’d realize that the now cast in stone standard policy of the Fed conjuring $85B a month is the only thing that has prevented the market from cratering and eventually that piper is going to have to be paid.

So, once again — if you are foolish enough to risk your retirement to a portfolio that is vulnerable to point of impacting your retirement if the market resets. Then you might want to consider a new financial advisor. The one you have is an idiot.

But hey, good luck with that.

          • IBXNJ

I hope you lose your shirt…. But Obama will make EVERYBODY POOR.

          • Worship Dancer

AWWWWWWW WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH. you DO know that your master has already stated that HE wants to be the one to “administer” ALL 401K & retirement accounts, right? in other words, HE WANTS TO REDISTRIBUTE YOUR MONEY TO EVERYONE WHO DIDN’T EARN IT.

          • QWYS (Hydralisk of the Swarm)

By your tone so far, you voted for it.

consequences … elections. Welcome to the World you are responsible for creating.

          • Still Determined

Haha – so wrong. I voted for Obama in 2008 – doubled the stock market and 401K. That’s what I voted for – and got as a consequence.
What I DIDN’T vote for is the TeaParty Republicans that have the House and Boehner in such a mess right – that is the consequence from other people voting!

          • IBXNJ

Did YOU get Obamacare??? YOU NEVER gave a straight answer!!! Put up of shut up!!!

          • QWYS (Hydralisk of the Swarm)

Don’t yell … it causes them to scurry back into their holes and protect their acorns.

          • QWYS (Hydralisk of the Swarm)

Yeah yeah yeah … again, get a new financial analyst. Everytime Ben is going to say something about possibly stopping QE it plummets.

The price of gold is dropping, the cost of energy, food, and health care relative to the value of gold is increasing.

Do you know anything about finance? Where were you in 1987? Where were you in the early 90s.

The market is artificially high, the velocity of money is frighteningly low. If that velocity picks up … we are going to see hyperinflation and The Hindmost and Bernanke won’t be able to hide it.

Yeah because doing the job the founders intended is bad. And reacting badly to Obama in the second week of September starting the no negotiation rhetoric is bad. We see how negotiating with Obama worked out for the AFL-CIO

Crap on a cracker, do they not teach economics and history as required courses for a college degree.

Do a bit of basic research before you make a fool out of yourself. Go back and look at what happened in May of 2013.

          • DixieAngel_76

So, I’m guessing that you are ignorant of the fact that the only thing propping the stock market up right now are Bernanke’s foolish practices of printing phony money and injecting it there? What happens when someone has to make good on all of that monopoly money, Stevie? Why you and all of the other little fools who invested in it get hosed, that’s what.

          • DixieAngel_76

Hahaha! Didn’t know clowns had 401Ks. Good one, though.

        • Jack Deth

What kind of President states that “he will not negotiate” throughout the week. Then holds a presser and demands that Republicans offer something for him to negotiate!???

Obama and the Democrats are scared of the slowly building backlash. He knows it. The Democrats know it. And the people know it.

      • Kakarot

Now Walter, be nice. Don’t bring logic in to the discussion. It confuses people like Stevie.

    • IBXNJ

You and I have different concepts of what a CLEAN bill is….

    • alanstorm

    • lou1785

Seriously, you sound like some cultist.

The house has the power of the purse and has passed several bills to fund portions of the Gov’t. which were all denied by your lowly, petulant, immature, America hatin’, Demonrats. ( BTW; Piecemeal funding was the way they used to fund government not so long ago.)
Remember, this is still a Constitutional republic. You want parlimentary style governance, move to Great Britain.
We’ve nearly doubled the national debt in 5 years. Think about it; 200 some odd years with all prior admins contributing to the natl. debt and your boy-king doubled it!! And now he wants more money – no exceptions. And you champion this stance?!
No doubt you were throwin’ hissy-fits when the Bush admin was spending too much, and I’m sure you stood by the Unicorn Prince when he WOULD NOT allow for a debt ceiling hike back then.
Yeah, didn’t think so ya putz.

This is just another manifestation of this president’s spiteful war against he middle class. He despises the hard-working, patriotic, gun-toting Christians who love this country and he makes no effort to disguise his disdain for us. He is an arrogant, low-class, devious puppet who will, I hope, eventually be brought down by his own ineptitude.

Hey Pisgah Inn … you couldn’t donate the food to a nearby shelter or even DWS’s starving staff instead of throwing it out?

    • Al’s Grandpa’s Ghost ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Would Dear Leader have allowed them to donate the food to a nearby shelter?

My guess is a resounding NO!!! Prezzy Stompyfoot ( Fucknuts) doesn’t give a mouse fart in a high wind about benevolence or charity if he can’t have his greasy hand print – or muddy boot print – on it…

      • conservative2012

They’ll make sure he can’t give it to any shelter. Remember they want people to feel pain. What better way than to keep food away from those who could use it. Then they’ll tell the poor that the right is keeping food away from them.

      • Thomas Dobbins

        They haven’t in other places….

    • walterc

No, the food safety police won’t allow it. I can’t even get the local convenience store to let me have their expired sandwiches (been under the warming lamp too long) to feed my chickens. Health code/food police regulations prohibit it in case I actually feed it to people.

And then they complain about the amount of food we waste in this country.

      • Ted H.

From the same gov’t that shuts down “Little Suzie’s” lemonade stand for lack of permits (#facepalm), they’d be the FIRST to slap you with violations of the health code.

No good deed ever goes unpunished :/

      • Bathing Suit Area

        That food wasn’t expired though.

    • Richard Wayne

      1) What walterc said. Local doughnut/bagel places can’t donate food at the end of the day (central planning at its finest)
      2) Probably can’t get a truck up there with it being blocked off.
      3) They are about 20 miles out from the nearest homeless shelter.

  • Doc Farmer ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

Hey, Pisgah Inn – may I suggest you meet the park police on common ground?

And by common ground, I mean ARMED TO THE TEETH, and in NUMBERS!

  • JBDestiny

Oh, I’m sure that if he gets his restraining order based on the shutdown, this administration will claim the commerce clause and close him down again, while going through his tax returns with a fine toothed comb. Plenty of options available when you’re committed to lawlessness.

  • Steven S Mellnick

These NPS workers make me sick. Honestly. Wtf is wrong w/ these guys? “Just following orders” didn’t work so well in the Nuremberg Trials either, fellas.

    • stellatruman

probably obeying orders in fear of not being able to support their own families

      • Steven S Mellnick

I would be willing to buy that comment if their families were being held under gun point, or the NPS were making statements such as “I am doing this under duress”; but without the above, my inclination is to feel no remorse when the citizens get pissed and some government people stomped on.

  • Joe Schmo

Things have changed since 32 years ago when they would let you keep your disabled motorcycle at the ranger station overnight. If this whole ordeal doesn’t show what Obama is made of, I don’t know what will. The one time he told the truth was when he said he would have a “transparent” administration. It’s very easy to see through all of these shenanigans. How could anybody be fool enough to believe anything he says? Imagine, this clown in charge of your healthcare!

  • Ted H.

See, if we hadn’t spent all that unpaid-for money on Bush’s illegal wars, ONLY THEN could we afford this shutdown…

Or do we need to pass the shutdown in order to see what is shut down?

Libtards, rationalize this one for me eh?

  • CrustyB

Democrats don’t care about hungry people! Argh blarg!

To hell with the government workers, who is going to reimburse all of the PRIVATE businesses that are losing thousands of dollars??

Who knew our kindly national park rangers would so eagerly become Obama’s brownshirts.

      • bluewaternavy

Most of the NPS staff are die-hard libs. Interp Rangers especially. Many of the LE rangers I know from Montana are disgusted by what they are being asked to do. They feel lousy about it. The interp rangers are busy whining about the republiciancs.

  • Hand of Doom

Isn’t the left always championing the cause of Feeding the Poor? Ha! Obama’s telling them “Don’t eat cake”.

Is anyone really surprised by this. The federal government has been buying land with OUR tax money now for decades and now the other shoe has dropped and we can clearly see why they have been doing this. Look at the control they now have over PRIVATE businesses. They will try to own us all in any way they can.
