Deadly violence erupted in Egypt again on Wednesday as forces attempted to clear pro-Morsi sit-ins from Rabaa and Nahda squares in Cairo.

Reports of civilian deaths range from 10 to more than 300.

Outside of Cairo, churches and businesses owned by Copts were torched and vandalized.

Maspero Youth Union, a Coptic rights group, said the Muslim Brotherhood was “waging a war of retaliation” against Christians in Egypt. AFP reports that three churches in central Egypt were set ablaze, but Twitter reports indicate there may be more.

Businesses run by Coptic Christians were reportedly targeted as well.

Persecution? What persecution?

Hey, “Coexist” sticker people. THIS is what the “C” does to the other letters.

    • Vik

Actually, most of the Egyptian Muslims are against Morsi in this case. They’re not doing this, it’s just the pro-Morsi minority.

      • Edie Simmons

People need to start geting involved and get out their and defend your Churches an stores , Stop the Zombies before it’s too late and your Country looks like Syria and your all freezing in refuge camps

        • Vik

Err, not sure if you meant “your” generally or if it was directed at me, but I’m an American haha. I agree though, they need to show more solidarity against a dictator like Morsi and defend their rights.

      • Ken Alan Draper

the point of Tug’s post is that the majority of muslims will not lift a finger to restrain the radicals among them, which makes coexistance nearly impossible. It’s impossible to coexist with someone who wants to kill you because you dare to exist.

I’ll be interested to check MRC to see how many total seconds of coverage the networks will allot to cover this. I’m guessing zero.

    • TugboatPhil

If they do cover it, they’ll find one incident where a Coptic fights back and injures a MB goon.

  • Suegirly

Arab spring! You all KNOW he’s not that stupid! This was the plan!

  • CombatDiver

Weird, I thought Morsi and his supporters were “largely secular”….. well at least according to Mr. Clapper, but I’m sure it was just a “Verbal Typo.”

  • Taylor Brown

Think about all of the money we’d save in foreign aid if we stopped giving to those who murdered Christians simply because they’re Christians….

Yeah, but they’re the peaceful, tolerant ones. It’s Christians/Catholics/Jews who are the real threat.

Rachel Maddow will be condemning this on her show tonight. When asked about this secretary Clinton said “what difference does it make”, or at least that’s what I believe she would say. Barry-o’s mom jeans were being pressed and he was un available for comment.

MB waited for 0’Bama’s vacation knowing it would give him some “distance” and allow him to pretend to be living in another world.
