Brit Hume: 1. Jay Carney: Waaahhh.

Hume might not know three women named Hilary Rosen, but he does know three definitions of “scandal” that Obama defenders have conveniently forgotten.

: loss of or damage to reputation caused by actual or apparent violation of morality or propriety : disgrace

3 a: a circumstance or action that offends propriety or established moral conceptions or disgraces those associated with it

b: a person whose conduct offends propriety or morality <a scandal to the profession>

5 : indignation, chagrin, or bewilderment brought about by a flagrant violation of morality, propriety, or religious opinion

Darn those right-wing nut jobs at Merriam-Webster for defining scandal that way!

Now if only someone would show Carney how to get “unfettered” access to a thesaurus.

That is the normal, liberal solution to just about anything. Either redefine a word or simply change from one word to another.

Nothing else has worked, so now liberals will try prestidigitation to make scandals disappear. Sorry, guys, they’re in Obama’s left hand.

I think that those who have been paying attention for the last 5 years could see the writing on the walls quite well when it came to Obama’s qualifications and the leftwing culture he was found to have immersed himself in.

I have been commenting for over the last 6 months now that there was going to be a day of reckoning with this campaigner and chief president, I think it has finally arrived.

Fox’s Brit Hume: ‘Stupid’ For GOP To Think Of Impeaching Obama Over Recent Scandals

Appearing on Laura Ingraham‘s radio show this afternoon, Fox News senior political analyst Brit Hume suggested some Republicans were “stupid” to consider impeachment of PresidentObama a viable response to the ongoing scandals regarding the Benghazi attacks, the IRS targeting of conservative groups, and the Justice Department secret seizure of AP phone records.

Likely referring to some GOP lawmakers, including Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) who has put impeachment on the table as an option for handling the Benghazi fallout, Ingraham asked Hume to comment on how some Republican leaders have “ran to the microphone” to suggest removal of Obama from office.

    His response:

“I think it’s stupid for them to say stuff like that. These cases will be driven by the facts, which is what’s happened so far. Information drives these things and big talk about extreme measures — and most people in this country, I think, regard impeachment as extreme measure, necessary in some rare cases — is way premature and only runs the risk of having this appear to be political on their side. The administration’s defense, you hear it all the time, is that this is just a political circus. So what happens next? These guys start running out into the middle of the ring and starting proving that its a political circus.”

      I agree with your sentiment.

In retrospect, it was a terrible injustice that congress failed to remove Bill Clinton from office in 1998.

I could see how a republican senator could have blanched at the idea of voting to remove Clinton. The same warnings were given then as are being given now: “it just won’t happen,” or “you’ll be seen as crazy,” or “we must be pragmatic and get along otherwise nothing will ever get done.”

      Fast forward 15 years.

The left was not chastened by the moderation and bipartisanship shown by the republicans in 1998. The left were like hyenas. They smelled blood and howled in delight as they consolidated greater power.

Note this: the left wing internet presence known as “moveon” was expressly created by political operatives to disrupt the impeachment of Bill Clinton.

Moveon is still alive. The republican party is not.

Republican cowardice cost us dearly in 1998, and I believe their failure in that moment might very well have been the fatal blow to this country. After all, merely two years later, the emboldened left wing subjected this country to a banana-republic style contested election that dragged on for weeks in 2000. It has been a steep slide downhill from then. I think 1998 was a devastating year for our country.

      My two cents.

  • $30423294

Oh this isn’t going to shame them. Hume’s case depends on the meaning of moral right and wrong.

The left has purged moral vocabulary from our culture.

Now do you see why they performed the purge? To them, it was like a military operation in which paratroopers descend into the small towns to prepare for the larger invasion a few hours away.

Similarly, the militant left sent its “teachers” out to soften the target before destroying it. They browbeat the young skulls full of mush so as to render them afraid to speak about right and wrong. Kids are required to use timid words like “appropriate” and “effective” for right and Obama’s favorite terms “stupidly” and “not optimal” for wrong. Make no mistake, these bureaucrats have their eye on the big prize: the demise of authentic religion’s authority to interpret human acts using moral terminology.

The assault on America is now beginning; they are racking up quick victories because they have weakened our cultural defenses, i.e., language itself. A whole new generation of uneducated kids lacks the tools with which to push back when their leaders are corrupt. On the contrary, they cower in fear, uttering vacuous platitudes like “coexist” and “everybody makes mistakes” and “who are you to judge?”

Courageous work, though, on Brit’s part, for schooling these journalists. It is like bringing an archaeological exhibit to a child’s show-and-tell to let the little ones marvel at the strange and unusual cultures who came before them, who spoke of exotic things like right and wrong.

Sober, precise, and relevant. Just excellent. Thank you.

    • MyrmidoNOT

Kudos. God Bless from the midwest…

    • Christoph DeHaven

Very much on target. For over a century, leftists have understood the power of language to shape thought. I’ve seen these tactics deployed in classrooms myself, from grade school to grad school. Today’s secular institutions of higher learning bear more resemblance to Maoist reeducation camps than they do to prewar American colleges. The few conservative Ph.D holders in the humanities and social sciences cannot get teaching jobs because the commissars hire only their own, this creating a unanimous majority against the few dissenters. The rare student who does not conform must have tough moral fiber and usually a strong religious foundation.

  • PAttyconservatopia

But Brit, the GOP is just fishing and POLITICIZING EVERYTHING

  • tjp77

    Liberal logic in a nutshell:

Obama is perfect and conservatives are evil, ergo Obama cannot do anything wrong and conservatives will always do everything wrong. If Obama cannot do anything wrong, then by definition there cannot be any scandal. If there cannot be any scandal and conservatives are evil, then any wrongdoing must be the machinations of conservatives.

Presto! Clear conscience and automatic moral high ground.

  • AlmaAlma

Don’t pay attention people’s, we need to be able to get away with this. Close your eyes and cover your ears.

  • neoface

Someone please unfetter Jay Carney, insane asylum next!!!

  • $24698634

By definition then, scandal is not an impeachable offense.

    • $30423294

      Oh zing!~

You are of course pointing out that scandal involves morality, and democrats are immoral so democrat party orthodoxy does not allow morality to play any role in public life.

On the contrary: a democratic republic requires a moral citizenry, a community of character.

So, yeah, scandal is impeachable. Brit Hume has given you the definition of scandal. We can and will require morality from our leaders. If you keep putting up lawless individuals, we will oppose them and repeal their immoral laws.

Oh yes, and we reproduce! Our grandchildren will expunge your accomplishments and will build austere memorials to make future generations mindful of the evil the democrat party inflicted on this great nation circa 2013.

      • MyrmidoNOT

        Wait until 2014…
See how many (‘moral’) Catholic hospitals “close their doors”…
        (…as I believe 2014 is ‘our’ Waterloo…)

      • $24698634

Moral and legal are not equal.  You may believe abortion is immoral, but it’s legal.  Immorality, per se, is not illegal.  The American people would not stand for impeachment on such a construct as immorality.  Show me a real high crime or misdemeanor and you’ll get my attention.

        • $30423294

I know. You recognize legal. I recognize moral.

          For the curious reader:

The legalist position is this: hey Monica Lewinsky was a teenager when Bill Clinton was elected, but on midnight on the day of her 18th birthday, the President of the United States could legally stick his body parts in her. Not because she experienced the situation as meaningful, but because the calendar said it was legal.

The moral position is this: it is the position that a good mother takes: your daughter was playing little league soccer when Democrat Bill Clinton took office. You threw a lovely 18th birthday party for her where you thought to yourself that she’s always going to be your little girl; and shortly after that moment of legality, Democrat President Bill Clinton jammed his body part down your daughter’s throat.

I want to live in a country where the moral position is recognized.

          The democrat party is immoral.

          • $24698634

Yeah, I want to live in a world of laws, not men; especially men with such a warped sense of morality.  Which is more immoral, Clinton taking advantage of Monica (legally) or Nixon carpet bombing Cambodia (illegally)?  How many children died in each case?

          • $30423294

I’m very happy with your comments. You have a rare quality among liberals, which is that you say things clearly, you’re not a weasel.

I respect and appreciate how you articulated the differences between what you believe and what I believe. Seriously. I wish there were more of you on the left.

I will leave this conversation feeling pretty good. I think we understand each other! A rare moment in the political divide.
