We love a lady who’s not afraid to speak her mind! On Thursday morning, former first lady Barbara Bush told Matt Lauer she’s not too keen on seeing Jeb Bush — or any other Bush — in the Oval Office.

Amen. There are other families. But no need to push one particular family in that direction.

Nice! Mrs. Bush also reportedly took a shot at other political families.

  • V the K

    Jeb, listen to your mother!

  • gregl311

Agreed! Do not run, Jeb. Mother knows best.

  • 24fan

honest and to the point, my kind of lady. enjoy the new little one great grandma

    • aegean1

Now if SHE wanted to be pres., that would be interesting. XD

  • Steve_J

No more Bushes – ever. GHWB brought us Clinton, GWB brought us Obama. I don’t even want to think who another Bush would bring us.

    • Christopher

      Dare I say, Hillary

      • Ronald Green

Hopefully by the time Jeb was out of office, that bitch would be dead. (preferably of natural causes, but dead)

  • http://twitter.com/CDChambers62 Chris Chambers

I like Jeb. He seems like a nice guy and appears to be a good ex-governor. That’s enough.

    • nc

Right. Don’t invoke the Peter Principle.

  • radjahshelduck

So did Jeb then go all Tommy Smothers, look at George W., and wail “Mom always liked you best!”?

    • Ailsa Nordstrom

+1 for Smothers Brothers reference :-)

    • Vennoye

Scuttlebutt has always been, that within the family, Jeb was the one who was supposed to run, rather than GW; so don’t think he could say that.

  • JeffsGarage&AleHouse

agreed. The brand is just too damaged… we have better nominees.

  • lagr08

Give me Huckabee Cain Carson Rice or Paul in any combination. Especially Huckabee and Carson-that’s class, decency and intelligence all wrapped

  • nc

Smart lady. We need someone who makes the LIVs AND The Base go Wow! We can’t settle.

  • AWomaninTX

She is my favorite First Lady, by far. She’s an honest woman.
She does so much for my community WRT reading & education. At the GB Presidential Library (#41) they have videos of President Bush and the First Lady. Their humor & love is undeniable.

    No Bush.
    No Clinton.
    We are 300+ million folks.

  • $27789750

Smart lady. Thankyou for your common sense Barbara.

  • Beth Larsen

I agree with her! We are Bush-worn… I thank them for their service, but enough!

  • ProudAmerican247

Jebby is the “most qualified” but momma doesn’t want him to run.
    “…we’ve had enough Bushes.”
She’s right on one thing….We HAVE HAD ENOUGH of the Bushes.
Let’s hope she can talk Jebby out of running if he’s itching to, cuz he will be wasting his time and money. He WILL LOSE.

    • Kyle Bradelle

I think what Barbara Bush really meant was “We Bushes have had enough.” And who can blame them? No president has ever been as undeservedly maligned (even including Lincoln) as George W Bush.

You 0bots take note I said “undeservedly”.

      • ProudAmerican247

I voted for Bush. And I agree Bush was slammed 24/7, 365, for eight years and beyond. And even though I think he did some good things, keeping our country safe after 9-11, cut taxes, he wasn’t/isn’t conservative enough for me. Did you know his father, George Sr. is a supporter of a One World Order??? Yeah, so is the rest of the family. They are close-knit and believe me, Jeb is also a supporter. They are very powerful, and power causes corruption. NO MORE BUSHES.

    • goldwater89

I’d rather have Jeb than the woman in your avatar. Not that she could even win a race for dog catcher!

      • ProudAmerican247

Everyone’s entitled to their opinion. Good luck with jeb.

  • grais

    God, I love that woman.

  • mickeyco

Remember how gracious both the Bush women were were as FLOTUS? Sigh.

    • Vennoye

      Remember what class in the WH was, period?? {sigh}

  • froggy19510

Now if Barbra would just shut up and go away that would be nice too.
I will say that Bush was far better than the monkey we have in the White House now, but I am sick of the whole Bush family.

    • http://twitter.com/Leishac Bossypants Tiger

Barbara Bush was nothing but class. In fact, the whole Bush family is class personified. Not to say I agreed with everything they do/say, but your rudeness speaks more about you than about them.

      • froggy19510

I wasn’t being rude. I was agreeing with her. I hope we never have a Bush in high profile public life again. I didn’t imply that she had no class. I don’t even know her. I just see some things that the policies of that family have done to this country.

        • http://twitter.com/Leishac Bossypants Tiger

Well, telling someone to “shut up and go away” is pretty rude in my book. I don’t want Jeb to run either, but I have long admired the way Barbara Bush handled her time in the spotlight and since.

          • froggy19510

            Sorry mom. I’ll be nice.

          • HWarrior13

I personally can’t stand that old guard, RINO, Barbara.
That stated, she’s sure as heck preferable to Mooch !

          • froggy19510

That’s true but that is a pretty low bar. Mochelle or Hillary should not be mentioned in the same sentence as:
            Babra Bush
            Laura Bush
            Nancy Reagen
            Betty Ford
            Pat Nixion
            Lady Bird Johnson
            Jacklyn Kennedy
            Mamie Eisenhower
All women of class and dignity, something that recent first ladies lack.

        • goldwater89

Wasn’t being rude? You called the man a monkey…

          • froggy19510

I was told I was being rude to Barbra bush. I was not.

  • MisterIncredible

So the four political families are the Kennedys, Clintons, Bushs and…?

    • NRPax

The Obamas in a few years when the girls are old enough.

    • http://profiles.google.com/sanddog Ms Anonymous

Roosevelt, Rockefeller…. this country has a long history of political dynasties reaching back to Adams.

      • Vennoye

Yeah, that has worked out well, hasn’t it????

  • neoface

Mrs. Barbara Bush has always been honest, and I concur.

  • john mason

I think Mama Bush has seen that public sentiment has spoken. We need to broaden our searches from just a couple of well known, well monied dynasties. She may even have had enough heaping dishes of Leftist Hate served to her family. And look how Romney was treated by these stupid people, like the devil incarnate because he has become wealthy; both she and I agree on that one. Some folks are too stupid to save, We will all have to be dragged through the socialist mud together.

    • HWarrior13

“Mama Bush” has said HORRIBLE things about Gov. Palin (all while old lady Bush stood on the sidelines throwing insults. )

Dreadful old bat refused to follow Reagan’s Rule: “No shooting inside the tent”

She’s right about “No more Bushes” through, the name is damaged for the next few generations.
Plus this nation can’t take anymore socialists like Obama and semi-socialists, like her son, George.

  • Jefferson

Jeb Bush is part of the establishment. He is not exactly a Tea Party guy. I doubt he would be a fiscal conservative if he was in the oval office, because his brother George W. sure as hell was not a fiscal conservative.

    • Vennoye

Jeb Bush is a big supporter of Common Core in Education. I felt like Jeb was a big reason behind “No Child Left Behind” which has been a disaster for our best students…and it did not help the lowest students…..just lowered the bar for everyone and put the federal government more into education.

  • Karinda

I think that it’s because she’s his mother…no mother wants to hear their children being bashed by the public. She is one classy lady!!!! Miss having REAL people in office!!!

  • HWarrior13

After Moochelle , this is the “woman” I can’t stand the most…She’s part of the OLD GUARD and a TRUE RINO….time to “move on”, Babs !

  • Kate

That family has been through hell the last decade. I hope he takes her advice. Let his legacy be his governorship.
