Last week, Van Jones spread around a truly pathetic Photoshop of Fox News asking, “Was the Russian meteor a plot by President Obama to prove that global warming is real?”

fox-news-russian-meteor-photoshop

It was such an obvious Photoshop that Jones was forced to tweet an admission of his willfully ignorant mistake (before deleting the evidence of his screw-up).

But that didn’t stop “real journalist” James Fallows from rating it “mostly true” (in his fantasies) and, really, isn’t that good enough for you Faux News viewers?

Writing at The Atlantic, Fallows asked, “How much of this illustration, now zooming around the Internet, is actually ‘true’? I don’t know.” Ah, yes. The ol’ “don’t know, don’t care” disclaimer.

Sure, Fallows could have read the freakin’ Google and actually debunked the Photoshop as Twitchy did last week.

Or he could have looked at the image and noted the obviously fake text and “Election HQ” logo. But you know, journalism.

Fallows doesn’t need you plebs to tell him how to do his job.

Hey, James, any thoughts on the CNN anchor who asked if global warming can cause asteroids? Hint: Not a Photoshop.

Update: Fallows did issue an update noting that the Fox image is fake. He linked to Twitchy’s original post debunking the painfully obvious Photoshop, but it doesn’t look like he’ll be linking to this Twitchy post anytime soon.

What can one expect from ‘The Atlantic?’ They’re the people who spent 2008 hot on the trail of proving Trig Palin wasn’t really Sarah Palin’s son, and more recently pressed the issue that the word “panties” is a plot by the Patriarchy to oppress womyn.

It will likely get a “Mostly True” from Politifact in the coming days.

Is Twitchy owned by Fox News? Or just someone who used to work there?

Is MSNBC owned by the White House? Or just someone who used to work there?……….A’ la David Axelrod

Two sides of the same coin.

        • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002109532283 Jillane Kent

You’re comparing a campaign director and senior adviser to a sitting President to a someone who has always served as a political pundit? You see absolutely no difference? Furthermore, I don’t believe Twitchy is owned by Fox. It is owned by Michelle Malkin who happens to be a pundit on Fox. To say that they own Twitchy, via Malkin, would be to say that MSNBC owns any number of leftist outlets because they provide a platform for their editors or owners.

          • Ronald

Of course, but how is that difference relevant?

          • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002109532283 Jillane Kent

If one wishes to argue that they are not exceptionally cozy with the current White House, as MSNBC has, hiring the campaign director and senior adviser to the administration appears tone deaf.

Sucks that MM and Twitchy are exposing the stupidity and hypocrisy that permeates the left…. *using leftists’ own words* … doesn’t it?

      • Ronald

No, that’s fine with me, just so long as the people recognize that bias, stupidity and hypocrisy exists on both sides. Saying only one side does this is ridiculous. Also, saying that the other side is worse is pointless. If it’s unacceptable for them, it should be unacceptable for us.

If you care to search the archives, you’ll find that there are no sacred cows. When the right has gone off the logical rails, Twitchy has often been the first to call them out.

I know I sound like a broken record here, but the general point is that THE POLITICAL LEFT HAS NO USE FOR OBJECTIVE TRUTH.

The only thing that matters is what the “operative truth” of the moment is, and how it can be used for immediate political advantage. If it turns out that the “operative truth” was entirely false, it doesn’t matter, because they’ve already moved on to the next “operative truth”.

Obvious photoshop? Doesn’t matter, if Fox News can be bashed.

Ridiculous parody story about Palin going to Al-Jazeera? What difference does it make? It fits the narrative.

Forged National Guard documents? If it can swing the election, go for it!

On a related point, it turns out that Candy Crowley had planned to violate the debate rules. Curiously, not much in the news about it:
