Bette Midler wanted the “pathetic bunch of losers” in Washington to hurry up and pass more laws. But now that our legislators are close to sending President Obama a lard-laden Sandy relief bill to sign, suddenly she has reservations.

Bette can take comfort in knowing that Homeland Security is “only” set to pull in $3 million for “audits and investigations,” not $3 billion. Zeros are hard. But there’s plenty more where that came from.

Too bad the House had to pass the bill before Bette cared what was in it.

  • Red Fred

I am most displeased that they passed this. Why did they wait? Why did they indicate they refused due to all the pork, then pass it anyway? I don’t want to read of anyone in the house complaining about expenditures, when they just sailed this through.

  • Fire and Adjust!

Way to cross the finish line after the the race was already long over Bette.

    • TocksNedlog

Yeah well, she isn’t exactly built for distance events — or deep thinking.

    • Elaine

And she now knows why Republicans balked at voting for this pork filled ‘relief” bill!

  • Gloves Donahue, Jr.

Now anxious to find out where Barry Manilow comes down on gun control.

    • TocksNedlog

Barry is solidly opposed to any of his friends going off half-cocked.

      • Nan

Since most modern firearms have safetys, that shouldn’t be an issue.

        • TocksNedlog

          How very droll.

  • V Sheridan

I have an idea instead of passing a pork laden sandy bill, we let all those affected by sandy a 5 year federal, state and local tax holiday!!

  • Jack Deth

Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd, the Tortoise finally crosses the Finish Line!!!

  • NachoCheese (D)

Well Bette, you do remember that you were demonizing that “pathetic bunch of losers” who dared speak out against the bill, right? What do you think they were speaking out against?

    meh…We told you so!

  • Bad things coming

Dumb Obama supporter; you can’t explain them as they are mental. Hope her doctor is reporting this stuff to DC.

  • stuckinIL4now

Uh Bette, wanted to be sure you had these numbers right. Only 49 House Republicans voted “for” this while 192 Dembeciles voted “for” it so it would not have passed without overwhelming libturd support. Only 1 Dem joined the 180 Republicans who agree with you in opposing it.

  • TocksNedlog

67 years old, and she finally discovered how Congress works.
Guess she was too busy partying during the 70’s to watch Schoolhouse Rock.

  • TocksNedlog

Poor Bette. To her, “adding pork” just means that she has to schedule a future date with her ThighMaster.

  • Steve_J

I think she’s always been fashionably late.

  • Citizen0000

    shoulda “read the bill” M’aam

  • $129448

    she sucks

  • nc

Bette, step away from the Twitter, please. This is for your own sake.

  • AZWarrior

Bette, don’t worry, you will be the bracket that pays for the pork with your tax (first in a long line) increase.

    • Ken Alan Draper

no, I’m pretty sure hollywood types got an exemtion from the taxes increase.

  • dwsmokin

So let me get this straight-Bette is upset about the pork in the relief bill that is the main reason Republicans wouldn’t support it? So…she is agreeing with the Republicans? Wow, never thought I’d ever see that (even though she probably doesn’t know it)

  • John Kerry’s Forehead

  • Dallas Worthy

It’s pork, so it’s not kosher.

  • Ookook Eekeek

  • notenoughtime

Still not going to plunk down hardearned dollars are her lame projects. But nice back tracking. Maybe before finding it necessary to have your opinions “heard”, Bette should try some fact checking.
