Egypt has issued arrest warrants for eight individuals linked to “Innocence of Muslims,” the crappy film the Obama administration blames for deadly mob violence in the Middle East.

Charges, which could result in the death penalty, are being brought against Florida Pastor Terry Jones, Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, the man thought to be behind the film, and six other Coptic Christians.

The Associated Press reports on the absurd theatrics aimed at soothing hurt Muslim feelings:

Egypt’s general prosecutor issued arrest warrants Tuesday for seven Egyptian Coptic Christians and a Florida-based American pastor and referred them to trial on charges linked to an anti-Islam film that has sparked riots across the Muslim world.

The case is largely symbolic since the seven men and one woman are believed to be outside of Egypt and unlikely to travel to the country to face the charges. Instead, the prosecutor’s decision to take legal appears aimed at absorbing at least some of the public anger over the amateur film, which portrays the Prophet Muhammad as a fraud, womanizer and buffoon.

The prosecutor hopes to bring charges of “harming national unity, insulting and publicly attacking Islam and spreading false information.” We eagerly await the Obama administration’s response.

It’s a charade, though the Muslim Brotherhood is certainly hopeful President Obama will help a Brotherhood out. But charade or not, it won’t stop free speech-squelching libs from cheering on Egypt the way they’ve cheered on the criminalization of free expression in America.

Pastor Jones also says he’s been banned from entering Germany.

Correction: An earlier version of this post inadvertently referred to the controversial film as “Innocence of Islam.” “Innocence of Muslims” is the correct title.

  • Kevin Krom

The scary part is, while still highly unlikely, I don’t actually consider it beyond the realm of possibility that this (mis)administration would actually extradite some or all of the “criminals”, in the name of “peace”.

    • mkreider

That is correct!! They should at least put out a death warrant for the liberal troll. At least 15 minutes of Religulous was anti-Islam. Find out Maher’s travel schedule and mail it to Egypt.

    • David Morales

how much you wanna bet when barrey gives them terry jones and the others cause you know he probably will that he apologizes to egypt for “all the trouble the U.S. has given them.” makes me mad just thinking about it.

    • Ella

Obama is a mixture of Dandalier and Chamberlin, the French and the British leader from WWWII

  • Streetiebird

Respect the law of the land. We obviously will not extradite anyone to Egypt, but their law is their law, and it is a democracy now after all…

    • The Monster

And we don’t have to give a dime of aid to a country that doesn’t respect freedom of speech.

      • Streetiebird

Well it’s not that easy, Egypt is the largest of the Islamic countries and we REALLY could use them on our side. Another reason to denounce these disgusting filmmakers…

        • Kevin Krom

Denounce them all you want. That’s an exercise of YOUR free speech. But don’t suggest that we infringe on THEIR free speech just because we disapprove of it.

          • Streetiebird

Where did I suggest we infringe their speech?????

          • Kevin Krom

@Streetiebird:disqus I didn’t say you did. I was simply drawing a distinctive line between denouncing the filmmakers and prosecuting them. Doing the former is just as much a free speech exercise as putting out the video in the first place.

Unfortunately, it seems like the government has forgotten this and is intent on persecution and/or prosecution.

          • Streetiebird

Where are they trying to prosecute him for a crime??!?!? He did not commit a crime. However you would prefer to limit the free speech of those who denounce the flimmaker by preventing them from asking him to take down the flim?? It doesn’t make sense to me to both say he has free speech, but you can’t speak out against his speech.

        • The Monster

Anyone who can indict Americans for speaking freely here is NOT on our side. The moment they started talking about using force against the filmmakers I CAN’T denounce the filmmakers. I have to DEFEND their right to be disgusting.

          • Streetiebird

You misunderstand. You can denounce their film and still defend their right to be evil and awful, which is my exact stance. They have every right to make the film, they’re just disgusting and vile to actually do it. Now they won’t even defend their own film by showing their face in public, so why should anyone else defend it for them?

          • Marcus

They don’t show their face because Muslims will murder them. What other Islamic apologies will you offer?

          • The Monster

You want them to commit suicide?

I can’t denounce someone when there are credible threats against their life or liberty. I can’t do anything but defend them until we’ve resolved their right to make a “disgusting” film.

          • Streetiebird

Their rights are not in question. They were well within their rights to make the video. Just because someone has made themselves a target doesn’t mean we have to stand with them. I think the content of this rightwing film is disgusting and I do not have to defend it. And I am well within my rights to call them out on their heinous disregard for American lives, since they knew full well what was likely to happen, and have even said this was a political film, not a religious film.

          • Streetiebird

In Egypt they don’t have the same rights, do they?

        • Derelictus

Holy crap, you’re an idiot. There’s no other word for it. Your comment didn’t even make sense. “Respect the law of the land”? Respect an Islamic dictatorship that oppresses its Christian population, wishes the destruction of Israel, puts women in “their place” etc.?
You’re the very definition of the word “dhimmi”. I’m not sure how sniveling, self-loathing little rejects like you come to exist, but the fact is that you’re a cancer to Western Civilization.
Also, Egypt is not the “largest of the Islamic countries”. That would be Indonesia.

          • Streetiebird

They’re a democracy now, maybe you missed this whole Muslim Spring thing, you should look it up.

        • Marcus

We could not use the Muslim Brotherhood on our side, nor do we want the genocidal maniacs who overwhelmingly supported the M.B. on our side.

        • Bill

But they are no longer on our side because Islamists have taken over, and no amount of denouncing will change their attitude regarding non-believers (infidels). Not sure, but I suspect you have never lived in a country where Sharia was the law. I have for over four years and trust me – it is not benign.

    • Marcus

You’re a real creep, street. Shariah is the OPPOSITE of democracy, you complete ignoramus. Just because the majority voted for theocracy doesn’t make the theocratic dictatorship a democracy.

      • Streetiebird

If a democracy votes for Sharia laws then it’s still a democracy. Do you just not like democracy when it doesn’t go your way?

  • grais

I think they’re forgetting about Bill Maher (which we’d all like to do), but he’s blasphemed Islam as much as anybody has.

    • Bill

yes but BHO pardoned him (and accepted his cash)

      • grais

I’m getting the distinct impression, though, that the Egyptians don’t much care about what Obama’s done. Except for that “Osama bin Laden Is DEAD!” thing.

  • Postbackxp

Whats next death penalty for fourm posters who do not bow to Islam.

    Only in Eric Holders Amerika.

The scary part is some people in the Media will thank this is
a good ideal and run with it, we are on the verge of madness.

    • Marcus

Facebook is working with the Muslim Brotherhood to hunt down people who speak unfavorably about the terrorist organization.

      • John Thomas “Jack” Ward III

        I PLEAD INNOCENT, UNDER THE FIRST AMENDMENT OF THE CONSTITUTION…Oh $#!+ I forgot Obama is Prez and Holder’s the D.A. Jawamax 8<{D}

  • CalCon10

U.S. citizens to be “tried” (a term used loosely; they’re already “guilty) and sentenced to death in absentia.

    And the U.S. government does…nothing.

  • Cruz2016!!!

Those freaking liberal fools have no clue how fast these Islamists would kill them just for being American, yet they cheer this on….democrat freakshow!

  • mkreider

Scary. Obama is such a weak apologetic president, he might just do something worse. I do not trust Obama.

  • Kevin O’Reilly

They Went after Solomon Rushdy, Buttheads

  • meru

This is seriously ridiculous. I’m going to bang my head against a wall now.

  • Bill Gregg

How about if we call for the death penalty for those in Egypt (for starters) who take to the streets shouting “Death to America!” while they burn U.S. flags? Turnabout is fair play and all that…

    • Discontentwliars

Egypt & Libia (by the way), Rember that the DO-injustice is run by the Holder, who isn’t concerned about loss of American life (or Mexicans, or diplimates or…) Wouldn’t it be a kick if the guns they used were from #FastandFurious debacle? Obama has about 50 days to do something about it, and he’s got a couple of golf games left to play first. We really need a hashtag for #notonmywatch to refer to this failure. #goingOverboard is what they want us to do. The #MSM loves the action.

  • Donna

I don’t wish any of these people, including Miserable Maher to be sent to Egypt to be beheaded.
I’m going to pray – alot. This scares me to no end, and Obama, + Hillary’s support of the ‘bad guys’ is blatantly showing now.

  • Lyle E Long

Funny thing is. most of the info in the film is true. Thier so called prophet married a six year old and had sex with her at age nine. he was 53. He led many murderous raids where they killed the men raped the women and took the kids as slaves. So I don’t understand thier rage, it is thier books where this information is found

    • Davis Powell

      They raped the Ambassador!
