I just can’t believe there was that many delusional people in this country that voted this RAClST FLEEBAGGING [email protected] of a TYRANT back into office for a second term !!! I have been listening to Kristen for about 5 years or so & she is coming around to the right side but she still has a ways to go yet !! I listen to Kristen here & it is all clear to me now, these FLEEBAGGERS are hopeless & their FLEEBAGGINGNESS is a disease that can’t be cured !!!

This even though Kristen is on the fence & somewhat center of left, she is still to much a FLEEBAGGER, she reminds me of my ex girlfreinds family of 33 FLEEBAGGERS who all voted for BOBO, TWICE none the less, that is the definition of INSANITY !!! How can this FLEEBAGGER Kristen compare what Martin Bashir said about Sarah Palin to Robertson, its like comparing apple to oranges & she is so blind she doesn’t even see that she is doing it !!!!!

How do you compare discussing someone’s beliefs and faith with that HATEFUL rhetoric about attacking a woman and saying she deserved to have people SH*T in her mouth? That’s just vile. They are so delusional.

          • Calcat36

Hey conservativechick, it is time to phrase things as democrats do. Imply hatred by using such terms as anti-Christian, anti-heterosexual, pro-woman abuser (Bashir), war on women party/democrat.

Democrats want to be God and the throne is big government. Their sacraments are pro-homosexual “marriage” and the most sacred, abortion, which using their terminology is pro-baby killing in the womb.

Winston was in 1984, a book by George Orwell. His job was to rewrite history as the liberals are doing now with Bashir to justify their hate against Phil. It never happened, until it was convenient to be brought up that way.

Yeah…about that comparison, Kirsten…you might want to take a closer look. Bashir’s comments were horrible in context, while Robertson’s were horrible taken out of context.

  • Guest

Robertson does not single out any individual, he talks about his faith priavtely and what it tells him.Phil did not attack anyone personally. He was explicitly talking about homosexual sexual behavior, not homosexuals as human beings. That is all the difference in the world.

Bashir on national television singled out Palin and encouraged the use of violence against her. Bashir attacked Sarah saying someone should deficate in her mouth.

Phil was hired by A&E. The comments were made to GQ. Martin Bashir made vile comments about Sarah Palin in the context of hosting a show for MSNBC.

As vile as Bashir’s comments were, I was not calling for his firing. I’d much rather have these hateful people out front and center, where the rest of the country can see and hear them.

Now, having written that, it’s shocking that Powers doesn’t understand the difference between the two comments. Phil calls for prayer, as he sees it, to save others while Bashir hopes and prays that others will be harmed.

    • OingoBoingo

Bashir, as a journalist, should of been fired. As a poster child for progressive liberal hate – yes, he should be put on full display, but then that was why he was fired – he exposed the true nature of progressivism…and that is a no-no to progressives.

      • karmafordems

Again, the bigotry of Bashir and the left backfired. We continue to fight the good fight. Kirsten still has a lot of listening and learning to do, before her transformation is complete

        • Calcat36

When she grows up, she will be relevant. And very sexy… except for the whole A Weiner in her face thing… Very ugly.

      • Al’s Not So Sad Grampa

Are you saying that regressives don’t like their “Nasty Habits” exposed?

      • Scott Carroll

Bashir is no journalist, He’s a commentator. Not even MSNBC marketed that show as straight news. Hell they stopped marketing their entire channel as straight news around the time they got their asses kicked by CNN after the Boston Bombing.

If he’s a journalist then so is Limbaugh. Comparing Robertson’s comments and Bashir’s is way off the mark, but a much more apt comparison is Limbaugh’s remarks about Sandra Fluke. If you think Bashir should have been fired then you have to hold the same standard for Limbaugh, otherwise you’re just a Partisan Peacock whose standards shift depending on the respective ideologies of the parties involved.

I’m with Maxx, I don’t think Robertson, Bashir, or Limbaugh should have faced the repercussions they did.

        • OingoBoingo

You are projecting. Please note – when you read others comments – don’t add thoughts from your head into those comments as you are reading, comments or stances they didn’t make, and then attack the extra thoughts from your head that you inserted. I realize when you do that it feeds your ego as it is an instant victory in your mind and you get to declare yourself winner in your head. I’m sure you feel great with that win with yourself. Thanks for the laugh and I wish you many more wins with yourself…cause you are winner! If only in your mind. 😉

When your done arguing with yourself and want to join in the discussion with others – jump on in…or just keep arguing with yourself on public forums for everyone to get a good laugh.

          • Scott Carroll

I must admit, if we’re engaging in a Battle of Inanities, you have me at a disadvantage. In your post you stated that “Bashir, as a journalist, should of been fired.” How exactly did I amend that statement into something you didn’t intend?

          • OingoBoingo

Scott you are deflecting, you ignore what you made up and then attacked, and focus only on a small part of your comment above. I left it up to you to analyze your own comment, I see you failed to recognize what part of your comment was your own delusions.

How is deflecting and playing a shell game used to throw in a personal attack to declare yourself winner a discussion? It is not, Scott.

If you haven’t caught on – I’m not engaging you on the subject, I am talking about your tactics.

As I stated before – your behavior is amusing and when you are ready to stop using logical fallacies and tactics -I’ll gladly have a discussion with you, but I will not have a discussion with you while you are having a discussion with yourself or while your playing ‘games’. I’ll just laugh at your behavior.

When you are ready – I’ll discuss, till then I’m just going to call out your amusing behavior. :) Thanks for the second laugh Scott.

          • Scott Carroll

Excuse the personal attack. I apologize. I’m still unclear where we’re at odds. At any rate, Merry Christmas to you and yours.

          • OingoBoingo

            Merry Christmas too!

And to clarify – in my original comment I was being snide, I’m aware he is a talking head and MSNBC stated they don’t come to them for breaking news or pretty much news aka talking heads. Yes, I could’ve been a little more clever with the opening statement calling him a journalist, but I was focusing on the why they fired him part.

As for Phil getting fired – I neither supported it or thought it was a wise choice.

Since you brought up Rush, Rush stated her, Fluke, that her actions were her being a slut. In that her demanding others pay for her sex items that act is slutty. He didn’t say her having sex with others made her a slut. He was committing on her political stance specifically, in poor taste, but – Basically mocking the stance obnoxiously to drive it home.

Yes, it was obnoxious and was not good, but does not compare. to Bashir.

Bashir, because he didn’t like someone’s political stance, he stated he wanted a vile act done to another person, he didn’t describe an act that he didn’t like and attack it.

Bashir went straight for a personal attack, ignoring the action he disliked and he did it in a very vile way.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!! :)

        • Calcat36

You mean to type that comparing Limbaugh and his remark about Fluke is to compare Erectile Dysfunction Shultzie and his remark about Laura Ingraham, right? Either way you lose. Shultzie was protected. Bashir was allowed to stay for three weeks until he was constantly called out.

Retrospective of the parties? Ok professor, tell me which party calls conservative blacks OREOS, UNCLE TOMS, SLAVES IN THE MASTERS HOUSE… How is that for perspective, never mind retrospective?

          • Scott Carroll

Alright, In honor of the season I’ll join your Non-Sequiter Sleigh Ride. Democrats call conservative blacks that. Do I get a Dirty Santa Gift for getting it right?

Look, I don’t like Limbaugh (I know, you can stone me later). He’s a glorified self-promoter who gets his rocks off tweaking the media and anyone else who isn’t part of his audience. The ideology and the cause take a backseat to his Look At Me Schtick.

You can be a fan of the red meat he serves but the fact of the matter is you ain’t changing things around here if you don’t control government. And you ain’t controlling the government without winning elections. And whatever else you think of Limbaugh his approval rating is 19%, so he’s not exactly out there winning converts.

The way Reagan (and Buckley) did it is the way it should be done. He didn’t turn people off as evidenced by his, still, sky high approval ratings. He was the most effective political communicator of all time and he did it by bringing people in, not pissing them off. Reagan took Blue Dog Democrats and made them Republican, Limbaugh would make them Marxists and have a good laugh while doing it.

          • Calcat36

So, you NEVER listened to Limbaugh, you just get your rocks off with talking points and run from there? Who is not a glorious self promoter? Anyone at MSDNC? Katie Couric? CNN has beens?

Until you provide facts of red meat based on listening to him, you really should STFU as you have no idea what he is talking about nor what red meat is, and your post proves it. S you hate Limbaugh. Fine. But your left wing red meat/bomb thrower for ratings, Shultzie called a woman a sl*t way before Rush threw red meat!

So, MSDNC is turning people off? You know since their ratings are circling the drain in the toilet and Limbaugh is as steel to the conservative cause, you know, as an ENTERTAINER.
His approval ratings are 19%? Post the source, hater drone!

First of all, calm down Mr. Anonymous Twitchy commenter with the private Disqus activity . You’re going to give yourself an infarction.

I listened to Limbaugh for years before I could no longer take the ego, the echo chamber that is his show, and the Me Too Chorus that are his callers. Whenever I’ve heard him debate a lib caller on his show he gets his ass handed to him, which means to those not already “on the team” he makes us look bad. Contrast that with Mark Levin, who, as a constitutional scholar and lawyer, actually knows what the Hell he’s talking about and DESTROYS lib callers on a daily basis.

As to who is not a self-promoter I can name a ton: Laura Ingraham, Dennis Prager, Michael Medved, Mark Levin, Dennis Miller, Bill Bennett, Hugh Hewitt. I don’t even mind the self-promotion as much as the hagiographic idolatry that takes place about him. Limited government thought was here a helluva lot longer than Limbaugh and it will still be here long after he’s gone. I don’t genuflect at the altar of some narcissistic media creation, that’s lefty sh*t dude. If you want to mirror that, go right ahead.

So, my profile offends you? Why is that? So idiots like you cannot creep it looking for sh*t? Glad it offends you. It is a free twitchy to prtect ones self from idiot creepers like YOU.

You ALLEGEDLY listened to him, only a lie that liberals claim over and over. They even have a special title, and if you listened, you know what that is, right?

So, when Erectile Dysfunction Shultzie went all Sl*t on Ingraham, your reply was?

Do you know who Angelo M Codevilla is? Let us examine your conservative claim Kook.

          • Scott Carroll

I’ll try to take your questions one by one. No your profile doesn’t offend me. Don’t feel the need to answer why because it doesn’t offend me. I assume the “idiot” “creep it” question was rhetorical so I’ll forgo answering it. As for the special title for lib callers, it used to be Seminar Callers. As I thought I made it clear in my first post, I don’t agree with the ramifications of Bashir, Schultz, Limbaugh, Robertson, or Sacco facing repercussions for simply saying something people found offensive. I guess I could lie and say I knew who Angelo Codevilla was but I didn’t. Had to look him up.

Dude you’re nothing but personal attacks wrapped up in some puerile rantings. But you’re right, I’m some sort of Trojan Horse Liberal who has posted conservative/libertarian stuff on Disqus and Twitter for years only to come in here on this specific day on this specific thread and bag on Limbaugh. Seriously? That’s your theory?

And for someone who hates libs you sure have their tactics down to an art form, ad hominem attacks followed up with some deification of ideological idols. Maybe you’re the real Manchurian Candidate Lib eh?

          • Calcat36

I have no theory about you. Do not consider yourself that worthy. Yes, you are a creeper and you are offended that you cannot have access to my posts. If that is an issue for you either take it up with Diqus, or post your personal info, since you prefer details. You first.

I do not hate anyone. I do not tolerate liberal/socialists very well because they are what they are. You attacked Limbaugh until I called you out on what leftists are only allowed to get away with. Nothing more, nothing less.

What you say are ad hominem attacks is just that, your opinion. Many liberals run there as well when losing the argument. Deification of ideological idols? That is cute. Maybe you are wrong again, eh?

Go be the victim now. Have a Merry Christmas.

  • H50 ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

This is the new attack by the left. Saw it all day yesterday on twitter.
Trying to compare one media personality (I refuse to call them reporters anymore) on air person attack and degradation of a specific woman during a news broadcast in a most foul way, to a man saying that as a Christian he thinks homosexuality is a sin, but doesn’t hate or judge anyone for their sins.
Also, while I remember plenty of people condemning his comments and saying that he wasn’t fit to be a journalist after making those comments, I don’t recall folks calling for his ruin.
    Lastly, Bashir resigned after apologizing.

A&E actively set up the DD clan and has yet to apoligize.
I dont get Powers take on this at all.

    • Calcat36

Note to HanaFiveO… They have not been reporters since the death of their Arch-Bishop, Cronkite. He has been sainted for skewering pinion with facts or non-facts to fit the agenda.

Give me a good reporter any day, such as those who report the stupidity of tweeters here on Twitchy! Pot the tweet, let me decide!

      • H50 ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

These days Im not even sure about the Cronkites anymore. We didnt have the internet then for checks and balances. How do we really know they didnt do the same thing, we just didnt know any better?

        • Calcat36

When Cronkite, the gas bag, can declare a war unwinnable, and politicians cower to that sh*t instead of UNLEASHING the might of the US military…

That right there is opinion journalism and the template for the current political climate of fear that the progressives are trying to bring back as glory days.

PS We kicked arse in every major battle of that war and the politicians gave the war away for self-interest.

Who, Mr. Robertson was stating how God has said he looks on all sinners with the same eyes. Be they liars, thieves, murders, and adulterers. In God’s eyes there’s not a gradation of sin. Also, in that same interview, Robertson admitted to his sinful past, so he’s not pulling some Holier-than-thou act, he knows he’s saved only by the grace of God.

Update: Honestly, I should have said looks on all of us sinners, for we all are and all for short of the glory.

  • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

S-L-O-W-L-Y, so you get it, Ms Powers:

Phil Robertson’s remarks, even if you (and I don’t) grant they are inflammatory, were NOT made in the context of an on-air screed made for the purpose of taking something someone had said and distorting it to suit, and then finishing off the straw man argument with vituperation of the most vile and hateful kind to tell the person more or less to STFU.

Martin Bashir’s remarks were not made off the air, in answer to a question which the interviewer pretty much knew what the answer would be, and was just looking for some colorful expression of it. Martin Bashir’s remarks were not along the “I may not like what Palin said, but then again not for me to pass judgment on her– I don’t judge people, only the Lord does– or should”-variety.

    Capisce?

It’s really so very sad to see critical thinking skills become a thing of the past…

    • Clete Torres

It makes me just shake my head sometimes. It really does. I get the feeling ours is the last generation to look at something that seems a bit skeevy and say “Hold on, that makes no sense,” or “it’s illogical.”

The younger gen just takes everything at face value, with no thought at all.

      • Michelle ✓classified

I agree with you. It’s my observation, which isn’t necessarily reality, it’s just what seems to me as reality – mine was the last generation before the “make everything feel good for the sake of the child’s feelings!” way of doing things came about. Sure seems to me that instilling critical thinking skills in the generations behind mine went to the wayside for the sake of “whatever makes you feel good, go with that” way of thinking.

I just can’t wrap my head around someone not understanding what Bashir did is so vastly different from what Robertson did. All this nitwit is looking at is, “It’s offensive” without a single, critical thought to the validity of WHY people are calling it offensive.

Robertson expressed his own personal beliefs and even included saying things such as, “that’s just me” which is the qualifier for him making it clear it was his personal beliefs. Bashir, in the course of doing his job on National TV said that a woman with whom he disagrees should have someone sh*t down her throat. There is a tremendous difference existing between the comments.

FFS, I’m an active supporter of gay rights and I’m not a Christian, but even I understand what Robertson said was not harmful – he wished ill will on NO ONE. What Bashir said absolutely was harmful – it promoted hate.

        • Clete Torres

          I completely agree.

I think the reason that these people don’t get the fact that what Bashir did was reprehensible on it’s face is that the moral code these days is so loose that everything short of murder is okay…

Unless one of the enemies of the left does it. Then it’s thisclose to the end of the world and must be stopped.

      • Joseph Bentz

Thoughtful thinking means critical thinking involving the thought processes. That is beyond the libs ability to formulate.

  • BAW

Pretty much everything about the two situations are different. How are they the same?

There’s a big difference between criticizing an employer for not doing what you think is the right thing and taking a stand against an employer that did something very, very wrong.

By not condemning or punishing Bashir for his comments his employer basically endorsing what he said. So be it. It’s entirely appropriate for people to notice and express their opinions.

By firing Phil for quoting the bible and explaining his understanding of “the word” arguably his employer broke the law. Discriminating against someone because of religion is constitutionally protected.

Kristin Powers recently came out as a Christian. Maybe she hasn’t read the Bible much.

    The
Bible consistently tells us that homosexual activity is a sin (Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; 20:13; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9). Romans 1:26-27 teaches
specifically that homosexuality is a result of denying and disobeying God. When
people continue in sin and unbelief, God “gives them over” to even more wicked
and depraved sin in order to show them the futility and hopelessness of life
apart from God. 1 Corinthians 6:9
proclaims that homosexual “offenders” will not inherit the kingdom of
    God.

  • thebigguy128

Because if one is not actively promoting the gay agenda, one is a homophobic hater. Glad that GLAAD is getting backlash at their hateful attempts to silence anyone who disagrees with them.

  • TVree

A fairer comparison is how Alec Baldwin actually got a job after using a derogatory term for a homosexual and Charlie Sheen doing the same in opening remarks (then lies and says he said maggot but has a lisp) at a public dinner speech. Yet neither event invoked outrage by the left or by GLAAD. Then they get in a tizzy over a Christian man explaining his views (in a non-derogatory way). This is the hypocrisy of the libs.

Bashir’s situation is comparable to Stern’s and Imas’ firings.

Robertson was asked a question and he answered honestly and based on his beliefs. Bashir’s comments toward Palin were uncalled for and no one asked his opinion. If Robertson came out of nowhere with his comments, there would be something to compare. Personally, do not care for the boycotts. Let the viewers decide for themselves – Bashir would still be off the air and Robertson would still have followers and viewers!

  • Mario Leon-Torres

  • MrApple

One is a personal statement of opinion while the other was a personal attack on a political enemy for saying something that the very attacker had himself said a couple of years before. I must of missed the part of the interview where Phil wished for someone to have poop and pee in their mouths.

  • SmartJock33

Lol. I see my neighbor’s tweet got added.

  • Look_A_Squirrel

Not only was Bashir’s wish that someone eliminate in Palin’s mouth hateful and an attack, he also launched it out of Hypocrisy in response to her use of the word slavery in “debt slavery”.

On the Oct. 14 broadcast of MSNBC’s “Politics Nation,” Congressman Alan Grayson (D-Fla) declared “What people see is that they’re falling into debt slavery – falling into debt slavery, where they owe more than they own on their house. They’re buried in credit card debt.”

Since 2009, the Huffington Post made four separate references to “debt slavery,” comparing student loan and Wall Street lending debts to slavery. These articles featured headlines such as “Slavery Legal in America Again” and “Slaves of Wall Street.”

Huffington Post contributor Ronald Robinson even urged readers to “Sign New Emancipation Proclamation to Free Us From Debt Slavery.” Comparisons between American slavery and debt don’t get more blatant than that.

    • jimpower

Bill O’Reilly said on air Al Qaeda should “go ahead and blow up the Coit Tower” in San Francisco.

Ann Coulter said she wished Timothy McVeigh had blown up the New York Times building.

      Price she paid – NOTHING!

Glenn Beck said on air he wanted to murder Michael Moore.

      Price he paid – NOTHING!

I can continue, since rightwing buffoons usually get a free pass in the “liberal media” for outrageous statements, but the point is that rightwingers are the LAST people with any credibility on “free speech”. They are ONLY interested in “rightwing speech”!

Not only will rightwingers NEVER defend free speech, they ALWAYS mobilize to get people fired for expressing politically incorrect opinions (see Ward Churchill, Bill Maher, Martin Bashir, etc., etc.)

        Downvote.

Ward Churchill is an out-and-out liar. Bill Maher and Martin Bashir are both flaming hypocrites for railing against conservatives for doing what they do. Because they are doing this in front of largely liberal audiences, their remarks are politically correct.

      • Kat

Speak for yourself, jerk. I don’t call for people to get fired for their political opinions. To the contrary, we should seek to publicize them so that people know them for what they really are.

I also seem to recall that the current Democratic administration is seeking to shut down religious businesses if they don’t pay for the birth control pills of others. The ACLU is suing Catholic hospitals that refuse to perform abortions. The IRS attacked religious and conservative organizations purely for their political beliefs at the behest of other organizations that opposed them.

The left also has little to say about photographers and cake decorators being FORCED to service gay weddings, and they did not have much of a problem with the government banning Chik Fil A from various cities because they did not like the opinion of the owner.

These are not people who are fond of freedom of speech. Try again, friend.

  • jimpower

Hilarious! The hypocrisy on the right knows no bounds!

No matter how many times rightwingers get people fired for expressing opinions that aren’t politically correct — Ward Churchill, Bill Maher, Martin Bashir, etc. — it’s COMPLETELY different when a rightwinger gets fired for expressing opinions that aren’t politically correct.

  • Dobermite

I was not always a Christian.

I too came from a different world and I’m NYC born and raised, so I understand the dilemma Kirsten finds herself in, wanting desperately to maintain her associations and friendships as if nothing has changed, but she’ll soon find that she is fighting a losing battle because indeed everything has changed.

Oh she can carefully juggle this situation for a time because she is clever, and perhaps cling to certain heresies and rationalize it as consistent with her understanding of Christianity, but if her conversion is real she will know in her heart that its all a ruse and so will her old friends, who will slowly fad away, unable to conceal their disdain for Christ and their contempt for Kirsten’s conversion, and then she will realize that no amount of pandering will suffice with the left, and horror of horrors, the only people who are genuinely prepared to embrace her as a Sister in Christ are those she and her friends have spent a lifetime mocking.

Either that or she will fall away from Christ, because there is no in-between, you are either with Him or you are against Him.

Kirsten Powers apparently suffers from RID or random intelligence deficiency. My doctor tells me it started in New York, San Francisco, and Washington D.C. simultaneously and is well on its way to becoming a pandemic by new years day. It is extremely invasive and usually results in CID or complete intelligence deficiency. There are confirmed reports of it already having taken a strong hold in Hollywood, Huston, and Denver and is known prevalent in the north eastern states. This disease tends to gravitate in and around large cities and there is no known cure. The only method of prevention is to stay informed of current events, not taking everything you see or read on the internet as gospel truth and getting truly involved in local and national politics over the coming 3 years. Please be vigilant people, the mind you save may be your own.

I find Kirsten Powers offensive. She speaks with such tension, and an air of snobbishness, speaking with an anal-retentive style, so to speak. By that I mean she seems to be quite tense, and it appears as if she is working vigorously to project an air of intelligence, of intellecualism, and air of high education, and an offensive, repulsive condescending style. She exhales in disgust and condescension, she makes the most unpleasant faces, and scowl, as if she were the School Principle and everyone else is below her, somewhat like the stereotypical spoiled little princess..

I also find her comment regarding Phil Robertson, spoken on Mike Wallace’s program Sunday, December 22, 2013, vicious, mean spirited, extremely judgemental, intolerant, and arrogant. She arrogantly claimed that Phil Robinson was a bigot, and she spoke those words with strong emphasis.

How snarky! How vindictive! How venomous! How non-Christian, unkind, and malicious of her!

I should be a regular guest on FOX News. So often I see people like Powers and I hear her push forth inaccurate, out of date information, and also spin information with the weakest, twisted logic, often with no support, or with errant, factually inaccurate support, which means lack of support.

I wonder why FOX News invited Powers to be one of their regular guests, and I wonder if she has strong support by viewers to continue her appearances.
