The Drudge Report displayed a photo of President Obama with his foot on the desk in the Oval Office.

It’s not just you.

Actor Nick Searcy also weighed in.

Once again, the administration is not letting national treasures get in the way of an Obama photo opportunity.

Even Biden has to look away.

    • Tony0920

Is it just me, or is his hand looking like like a chewed off, threatening, pop-tart ready to unload?

    • lambchowder

yeah maybe thats because he is a reasonable, strike that, sane person who doesn’t view the oval office as a sacred reliquary or a temple of zeus. and you people call liberals authoritarian?

      • Tony0920

I don’t care about the desk, the foot, or the office. Just the offensive way he shaped his fingers, like a gun. Kids in elementary school have been expelled for less than that. Pastry 101. Liberal abuse of authority in full regalia. – Also, not quite sure how to take you, you quote scripture in another post and the use the phrase “disingenuous fucks” as well.

        • Kay

Oh, shut. up. Yes, the President of the United States was totally caught going “pew pew!” in the Oval Office. That is a common pointing gesture. He’s on the phone. It’s probably a stressful conversation. He’s walking around and idly doing things with his limbs, the way some people sit and doodle on paper. Get over yourself.

          • Stephanie Warren

You don’t seem to understand sarcasm, do you?

I think O chose that picture himself because it is the one thing he can do better than Bush.

What does Drudge have to do with this? He is running the photo that many wires are running. Has he personally come out and said anything, or you just want to bring Drudge and Bush up. Why don’t you email or Tweet Drudge to ask him how he feels about it, or perhaps not, since you obviously know what he is thinking.

It was wrong with Bush did it, and it’s wrong with Obama does it. Two wrongs don’t equal a right, and the old excuse, “but Bush did it, too!” doesn’t work anymore and looks silly.

        • TruthSociety

If you’ll notice there is an important difference as to Obama possible scratching the desk with the weight of of his sole compared to Bush’s resting the back of his shoe and leg to prevent scratching the wood. I am quite sure GW knew he would not be damaging the wood where Obama was completely oblivious to his action. No class what so ever.

          • skinsidedown

Congratulations, this is the most idiotic comment of the entire comment section.

But it was ok when Bush was in office to say “but Clinton did it, too!” How about we take a break from nit picking the man who was elected by the citizens of our country (like it or not) and actually show support for a job and position in which the greater majority of us would not survive 2 weeks in.

What’s silly is worrying about what a guy does at HIS desk, and before you go apesh*t, it is his desk until he’s out of office, when it becomes some other guys desk. You people are so filled with hatred for this guy that everything he does is a personal affront. It’s dismal, and totally unproductive. The boss has his foot on the desk, end of story.

    • Jack Deth

Sssh! Don’t distract the Tea Things! They’ve got another nothing-burger story to scream about in impotent rage.

      • journogal

What are Tea Things? So, people who have a difference of opinions are “things” to you? What bigoted response, but expected from you. What a sad little person you must be in life. Never happy, always making fun of others that don’t think exactly like you. Small-minded and sad; always calling others name, because, well they aren’t like you. Terrible way to live a life, when all you know and can do is to through insults around on an Internet board.

Take a moment from name calling, if you are able and willing, and explain exactly what Drudge personally has to do with a photo that is available to the wires? Did he take the photo himself? Tell me, since you know so much about him (and will undoubtably come back with a non sequitur about his personal life, which no one, except you, cares about) and his actions.

And by the way, I am a female, so I am not impotent. Sounds like someone is projecting.

Don’t you have even the smallest bit of shame, that such a refrain is all you have to offer after FIVE YEARS of Obama in the White House?

You can’t refute anything, so you scream about how Bush did it. See, remember how the Media and the Left portrayed Obama as the smartest man in the room, how Obama was going to govern over all the states, that it wasn’t blue states and red states?

Funny how he’s completely changed on that, and how all you and other Libbies have to say is “But Bush.”

I guess Obama was not only no better than Bush, but WORSE, since he and his supporters talked about how terrible Bush was, and now all you can do is parrot back about how Bush did whatever President Hypocrisy is now doing.

        You must be so proud.

  • LinTaylor

And it’s blatantly obvious that Obama staged that pose too, because not many people are given to spontaneously doing the Captain Morgan pose on a knee-high desk. In other words, another example of him trying to look like “the rockstar President” and failing miserably.

He probably thinks that the prestige of the Resolute Desk is somehow increased because he put his foot on it.

I’d do a close sarcasm tag here, except that it seems to be impossible to overestimate the vanity of this man.

      • LinTaylor

The sarcasm tag be a good idea anyway, since I’ve gotten burned by that before myself.

Also, is the Resolute Desk really the official name for the President’s desk? Because if so, that is one of the most awesome things I’ve ever heard in my life.

        • Thale Taxurfeet

The Resolute Desk is made from the timbers of HMS Resolute.

For the rest of the story, see this link.

It’s one of the desks that were made from the timbers of the HMS Resolute after it was decommissioned. Wikipedia has the story: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resolute_desk

It and its partner desk that sits in Windsor Castle for the use of the Queen were used as plot elements in National Treasure 2.

        • JR48

Look at his right hand. He’s making a gun out of his fingers. Children in school would be arrested, or suspended for doing this. Along with his foot on the desk, he needs to spanked for pretending his hand is a gun. Liberals should be apalled.

You can take the boy of the the gutter, but you can’t take the gutter out of the boy ! That desk does NOT belong to you, you idiot….no matter what you and your low rent family think. What a disgrace to the nation this “president” is.

Obama might have to get his leg checked out.Between putting his leg on the desk and that weird stance he made on the golf course, who else would do those things?

  • AZWarrior

Mr. President, get your damn foot off that desk. It doesn’t belong to you and you don’t seem to know what you are putting your shoes on. That is the Resolute Desk scumbag.

The Resolute desk is a large, nineteenth-century partners’ desk often chosen by presidents of the United States for use in the White HouseOval Office as the Oval Office desk. It was a gift from Queen Victoria to President Rutherford B. Hayes in 1880 and was built from the timbers of the British Arctic Exploration ship Resolute. Franklin Roosevelt had a small door built for the gap to prevent people from seeing his wheelchair. Many presidents since Hayes have used the desk at various locations in the White House, but it was Jackie Kennedy who first brought the desk into the Oval Office in 1961 for President John F. Kennedy. It was removed from the White House only once, after the assassination of President Kennedy in 1963, when President Johnson allowed the desk to go on a traveling exhibition with the Kennedy Presidential Library. After this it was on display in the Smithsonian Institution. President Jimmy Carter brought the desk back to the Oval Office, where Presidents Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush used it. It is currently in use by President Barack Obama.

    • bless us all

thank you for the wonderfull history of the desk but needs correction in one statement. i took the liberty to make that correction…

…It is currently in [ab]use by President Barack Obama.

  • geoanto1

  • Jim Denney

Shrillary isn’t gonna like those scuff marks. She had to return the desk after getting caught the first time she stole it, but she plans on taking it home in 2025 (if her liver holds out).
Personally I have my doubts, both about her liver and whether the country is stupid enough to elect another Dhimmicrat after King Putt ends his reign of error.

  • paulinmn

Same pose he takes after a golf swing.

  • https://twitter.com/Libertyworld Libertyworld

    Here’s why it’s disrespectful.
Muslims consider the soles to be the operative part when the shoes are used in disrespect. Remember the boy hitting the statue of Saddam Hussein with a shoe? He used the sole. One thing to rest one’s feet on a fine wood desk, quite another to put your soles on it. I grew up surrounded by antiques. Something so crass & classless would have cost me dearly, but I never did that.
Soles are the dirty part & will damage the finish of polished wood. Any dimwit with any class knows that.
Getting to the point, with the embarrassing (& most unmanly) pose at the golf course as another example, where one may safely conclude that the left gets a sick thrill from rubbing its contempt in our face.
The desk is our face & heritage.
The sole of the shoe is contempt.
    Any questions?

    • jtgun

He’s just scraping off the doggie doo.

    • $24674488

So this proves Obama is not a Muslim.

  • RW Smith

Not one of the tweets cited calls the desk bu its correct name.

The Resolute Desk was a gift from Queen Victoria to Pres. Hayes in 1880. It was placed in the Oval Office during the Kennedy administration.

I share the feeling that Obama is very disrespectful of the desk and the history behind it.

However, the outrage from these tweeters is questionable. There’s well documented photos of both Pres. Bush (43) and Pres. Ford doing the same thing. Also there’s at least one photo of Pres. Reagan sitting on the desk.

It is disrespectful. But blowing one’s lid over it now is shallow and easily undercut.

  • WJGBalderama

No one respected the office more than Ronald Reagan.

  • Angel548

THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED. MR. PRESIDENT – PLEASE KEEP YOUR FEET OFF OUR DESK!!!!

After the HMS Resolute was broken up, Queen Victoria asked for several desks to be built from her timbers. Four desks were designed and made by William Evenden.

A large partners desk was presented to President Rutherford B. Hayes on
November 23, 1880, while a smaller lady’s desk was presented to the widow of
Henry Grinnell; this desk is now in the New Bedford Whaling Museum.

Finally, the queen had two desks made for herself: one similar to the one given to
    the president AND PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES, currently in Windsor Castle;
and a writing table, which she had made for her private yacht, the HMY Victoria and
Albert II. This writing table is in the collection of the Royal Naval Museum,Portsmouth.

Leftists believe in nothing but their own immediate cause. Nothing that came before them is of value, nothing that comes after them is of value. And so, we end up with an amateurish clown as president, who shows no respect for the sacrifices of those that came before him to make the US the freest, most productive and, yes, the richest society mankind has ever known. And one who is happy to sell future generations into financial servitude to his socialist pipedream.
A shorter way of writing the above…leftists are scum.

  • lambchowder

conservatives are creepy as hell. its a friggen desk not an imperial throne. every president in the last 50 years has done this. of course its not really about the desk, its about that one thing that makes him different that seems to drive certain folks to irrational frenzy. gee, i wonder what that could be.

    • Acethepug

      shorter lambchowder: Racist!
Seriously, that’s all you have? Are you really so ignorant of the entire scene and how it comes off?

We have President Participation with his foot up on the desk, making a “gun” gesture with his hand (thank God it wasn’t a pastry he chewed into a gun shape, he’d have been expelled!), and Biden in the background snickering like an incontinent hyena.

The entire staged shot looks juvenile and disrespectful. That you are so determined to defend the President because of his skin color says far more about you than it does anyone else.

And again, isn’t it funny how hypersensitive the Left is on guns, and how silent they are on his gesture. Is it harmless? Yes, as harmless as the boy’s chewed pastry that became a national headline. Hmm, we hear about one, and not the other … what’s the word I am looking for here … hypocrisy?

And you and Chris Matthews both need to be educated about dog whistles: If you are constantly hearing the dog whistle? That makes YOU the dog, sunshine.

  • mollyjb

Apparently the teapublicans have nothing better to do than find any trivial excuse to attack Obama. There are plenty of pictures of Bush and Ford with their feet on the desk but I don’t see anyone complaining about that! This reminds me of the time Obama got a hamburger with mustard on it and teapublicans complained that he didn’t use ketchup! A ridiculous waste of time.

    • Glen Hull

“A ridiculous waste of time”. I believe your parents reached that conclusion about you years ago.

  • Helen Dixon

What’s “offensive and appalling” to me is that all of you pick on such a trifling thing! The President was in (what was probably a deep discussion on the phone) and absentmindedly rested his foot on the edge of the desk, while standing there, instead of sitting (which he might have been doing all day, and needed to just take a moment to stand, and maybe stretch, for awhile)! It’s not like he had ‘dirty’ soles on his shoes, or that he was bearing his full weight down on the desk, or was standing there like that, for more than [probably] a just few minutes, if that long! I recall a famous picture of President Kennedy with both legs (and crossed feet) up on the desk, in the Oval Room (like most business men do a lot of) and nothing derogatory was thought or said about that at all! In fact, I remember that it was one of my favorite photos of him (along with the precious ones of little toddler, John-John, playing hide and go seek under the bottom opening of that same desk)! I’m going to try to find a copy of that one of the President with his legs and feet up, and if I do, I’ll put it on YouTube, so it will make the rounds on the Internet, and get thousands of “hits” there! :-) I don’t remember anyone making any snide, stupid remarks about that, at the time! We were all just pleased to see our President comfortable and relaxed! But of course, the Republican nitpickers weren’t out in ‘legions’ back then, ready to pounce on everything that their ‘duly-elected President’ said or did, every minute of every day, inside or outside of the White House! You men sound like a bunch of picayune “weak sisters” moaning around over something so trivial that should not even matter! Is it just your mission in life to constantly find fault with President Obama, no matter what?! It’s time to spit those ‘sour grapes’ out of your mouths, and stop criticizing ‘YOUR DULY-ELECTED PRESIDENT’ and quit sounding like some gossipy old bitties over every INFINITESIMAL move that he makes! Enough, already!!! :-O

    • Glen Hull

It’s silly is worrying about what a guy does at HIS desk, and before you go apesh*t, it is his desk until he’s out of office, when it becomes some other guys desk. You people are so filled with hatred for this guy that everything he does is a personal affront. It’s dismal, and totally unproductive. The boss has his foot on the desk, end of story.
