Andy Murray has become the first British person to win the Wimbledon men’s singles title since 1936. While he is a Brit, he is not English. He is a Scot. The New York Times confused that point.

The error did not go unnoticed.

We guess geography is just that hard for some.

Later, the ‘paper of record’ tweeted a more accurate title.

Not possible. If NYT says Murray was born in England, then he was born in England.

My birds are quite fond of the NY Times. Particularly when I leave it open to the page with Paul Krugman’s picture on it. They just love taking aim at that one….

  • Txgirlinnh

they are probably justifying it with “well England won”

NYT appointed fact checkers to check the fact checkers’ facts – that failing, they now have fact checkers to check the checkers of the checkers. Still unable to arrive at the truth they resort to statistics which can be used to prove anything you want 95% of the time. Does anyone still read this rag?

If the New York Times told me my mother loved me, I’d call her to verify.

I’m surprised they just didn’t say “Limey”

  • jukin

Does the NYT ever get anything right……other than perfect democrat party talking points?

  • AZWarrior

Hey NYT, pour me a good shot of single malt English on the rocks!

  • yourmamatoo

    Obama low infos strike again.
After all, Obama thought England and Great Britain were the same.
And the NYT is an Obama apologist, fictional news paper.
