Pro wrestler The Iron Sheik is not happy with Glenn Beck’s slamming of WWE for its creation of a racist Tea Party character. Beck recently declined an invitation to appear on WWE’s Monday Night Raw.

He went off.

The Iron Sheik is never shy about speaking his mind.

Update: This post has been corrected to fix a typo in the headline. We apologize for the error.

  • Love of Country

Sounds like the WWE is quite protective of their racist ways …. they must be self-loathing, racist Democrats just like their racist leaders on Capitol Hill.

    • Scott Carroll

Check his papers. I have a sneaking suspicion this guy is not really a sheik.

      • Fred Zanfardino

No he is not, but believe it or not, he really once was a bodyguard to the Shah of Iran. Gee, no wonder the guy is messed up in the head.

  • AaronHarrisinAlaska

Will his account be suspended or was this just an attempt to open dialog?

    • Corey Dennison

No…Twitter will do nothing to this brain-dead steroid case. He’s attacking a non-lefty, so everything is good in the eyes of Twitter.

  • hbnolikeee

    Is that The IRON SCHMUCK?

  • Catchance

He seems to know about 8 words, continually repeating them.

  • Steve_J

The Iron Sheik seems to have an intellect about the size of a shrivled pea.

  • Joe W.

And this is representative of the WWE?? Deplorable.

    • pajamakat

You’re right Joe. This is deplorable. What is wrong with this man? I guess anything at all is okay with them.

      • PennyRobinsonFanClub

        Remember gang, it’s his act.

        • Fred Zanfardino

Unfortunately, as anyone who has seen him away from the wrestling ring will tell you, it’s really not an act. The guy is a genuine nutcase, and apparently has a drinking problem to boot.

  • Gary Rudick

Sounds like a gay porn star name “The Iron Sheik” ….

  • Marty Luther

Chief Jay Strongbow, we need you now more than ever.

  • Harlan Hikaru Fox

All this angle has done is flood wrestling message boards with self-satisfied proggies happy that this angle allows them to break a “No Politics” board rule and complain about anyone who isn’t a Proggie Leftist.

  • Spatial Awareness

@the_ironsheik <== A 70 year old Iranian man running around in tights, making a mockery of his heritage, who once was a coach for TWO US Olympic wrestling squads, calling @glennbeck "the dumbest motherfucker in the world"? The fall is LONG & HARD….. And, Oh………….. the IRONY.

  • TheKingJAK

It’s about high time for The Rock to lay down the Peoples’ Elbow on this camel jockey.

  • $23629333

Apparently, permanent press made the Iron Sheik passe.

  • devosf03

This guy is obviously a buffoon. Have you read his series of tweets? Grade A dummy who must not be taken seriously.

  • PennyRobinsonFanClub

Say, the Iron Sheik is every bit as eloquent, thoughtful, and profound as any of our Media Matters hacks!

    • Jillane Kent

Do we know that the Iron Sheik is not employed by Media Matters?

  • Booker

Oh my. You’ve got some mouth on you there, Mr. Sheik.

  • $41341954

Not that I agree with him, but I have extreme respect for a guy who can extend his 15 minutes of fame in the 80s up to 2013.

  • RichardBlaine

“No one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public.” H. L. Mencken said it, Vince McMahon & co. live it.

  • Maxx

He’ll eat Glenn Beck for lunch. Oh wait, looks like that’s already happened.

  • Scott Carroll

Well, he spelled fuck correctly. Judging from the grammatical construction of his tweets that is a sterling achievement.

  • Zhenia Oleynik

The Iron Sheik has been tweeting like this as far as I know (plus I’m sure you can look up some videos of him on the Howard Stern Show). It’s kinda silly, but it’s his act. From ex-wrestler to Internet troll.

  • Thomas Fowler

This guy as some kind of intelligence to use such big words and have such high ideals.

    • Jillane Kent

If, by intelligence, you mean roid rage and a campy scriptwriter I agree.

  • Aaron Giddens

Sorry, WWE didn’t do anything wrong. They simply did what wrestling organizations have done for over a century: stir up controversy to increase ratings and it worked. Iron Sheik, however, went overboard. He should apologize.

  • camnpat

The funny thing is that Beck said nothing wrong about the Iron Sheik character. It was brought up during the conversation with Pat and Stu as an example of another politically charged character by the WWE (WWF at the time). Nothing bad was said about this character.

  • Kevin Tierney

You guys do realize your nothing but a bunch of marks right? The entire purpose of the Jack Swagger angle, as well As Iron Sheikh’s absurdly over the top tweets is to draw controversy and heat. The puppet responds predictably to the pulling of the strings. I’m an unapologetic conservative, but I for one find this incredibly entertaining television
